[Q] Screen Protectors - TouchPad Accessories

What are the compatible screen protectors available for the HP Touchpad?
Are the dimensions of the screen identical to the iPad 1 or 2?

I've always like phantom skinz. I've had their screen protectors on all my phones and i'm getting my touchpad today and plan on hittin the mall to get it protected by them as well. Easier to do it at a place cause they install it and a has a lifetime warranty
idk if you would have one in your area but you can check out their site

How does phantom skinz compare to a zagg invisible shield? What is the finish like? I dont mind the "orange peel" texture on the backing but i like a smooth, glassy, texture for the screen. IE. i have zagg on the back of my captivate but i have a reallook cover for my screen.

to be honest I like the phantomskinz feel better. I had Zagg on my ipod touch when I had it and in my opinon I feel like phantom skinz has a more smooth feel but thats just me

I have the Zagg on my Capitvate and I also put one on the TouchPad. I think it looks great! I have had it on my Cappy for a year without a mark on it. Great warranty too!

does anyone know whether iPAD screen protectors that are widely available locally free of shipping charges and wait time fit on the HP Touchpad considering they are both 9.7 " ??

The X/Y dimensions of the iPad 1 and 2 are almost identical and the bezel around the glass seems to be of similar thickness too. The problem is that the iPad's are a little more square in the corners and thus an iPad protector applied to the Touchpad might jut out from the corners a bit. Someome wanna pick up some of the dirt cheap (and quite decent) protectors from Monoprice and let us know? It seems I won't be getting my Touchpad for a while or I would do it.
iPad 1st generation: 243 mm X 190mm
iPad 2nd generation: 240mm x 186mm
Touchpad: 240mm x 190mm
I recommend ordering some other stuff since overnight shipping (the cheapest one) is ~$4 and if you add a few wires and such it's still ~$4. (well it's $4 for me where I am at least)
iPad 1:

iPad screen protector fits HP TouchPad?
So I picked up a iPad screen protector because it was effectively half a dollar and it was 9.7", I though that will fit the TouchPad...
Now becasue I haven't got my hands on one just now, I wondered if actually fits...
Could someone please confirm this or what?
I have been informed that it "fits" but how well on the corners?
Thanks

If you have a pair of scissors ... sure.

The TouchPad is ever so slightly wider than the original iPad.
How are the corners on this vs a iPad? I do not have either in hand so I have no clue.
How well does it fit without taking scissors to it?

Not really worth it tbh. getting the cut for the camera as well is quite hard. managed to get hold of an ipad £1 screen protector. now after that bought a 3 pack of ebay for hp touchpad for £4.29. for that extra amount well worth it and bought extra in case i managed to mess one up, and one as a backup.

Works great, I did the same, just cut the corners and about 1/4 inch off the bottom and 1/8 off the top and line the camera hole up.

I flat out forgot there is a camara, I dont be using it for sure. Apart from that? How well will it fit? I have oily fingers,And now matter how much I clean my desire screen still seems dirty, Friiends desire does not have that issue due to screen protecter...

Get yourself a metal straight edge and a razor blade or X-acto knife. A round paper punch will work for the camera.

Best cheap ebay protectors ?

I am looking for a cheap (2 dollar) 2-3 pack of clear protectors for the DHD.
If you are happy with your cheapos, could you please give me a link to the seller ?
Sometimes cheap are OK, you may just need to renew more often, it depends on how rough you treat it or how sharp your finger nails are:

just so you make an informed decision, the Terrapin screen protectors you see on ebay are nothing better than generic screen protectors. I paid a little bit more to see if they were any good, but they are the same as cheaper ones

yes, they are different on each side, and after going through 4 to get the perfect fit, i have realised that they arent shaped perfectly to the phone and so you get a line of bubbles with the first ones you apply - good thing i got a pack of 6!
I have just bought cheap one with gel cover (2.99£) and got a lot of bubbles ;-)
First time I had only one so tried again and now got about 10-12, ha ha.
Recieved another 8 (1.99£) and will try again.
I have had four iPhones and used only cheap ebay screen protectors, they are not that bad on the end.
Anyway, I am gonna buy some good one and see what the difference is.
Now, screen is bit less sensitive, which is good as before it was little overreacting.

Never trust ebay protectors, instead try BSE or ZAGG which are proven that they are trustworthy.
I've got a zagg one and it feels rubbery. It fits very well, but I honestly preferred the cheap one I had before

I got the ones called BlueCosto sold by a user called "fastersale", it was 3 screen protectors for 1 USD including free shipping. They fit very well, except that they might be .5mm off on the corner curves but its not noticeable. I used one for a few test runs to get it right and I could wash off any dust by running water over the sticky side. They also included some cloth to clean the screen with. For a dollar I'm happy as, I tested the protection by scratching it with my keys and it didn't leave a mark
Here:

I'd forget the ultra cheapies and spend a couple of pounds more on these....
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140467787932&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
I got 2 packs.
I tried all the cheap ones on my Touch HD and the official HTC ones were miles better for a couple of £s more. Plus they last 6+ months even with the heavy wear I give my screens. The cheapies needed changing every month.

Zagg Invisible Shield

I bought one of these last week and I have to say it's probably the worst screen protector I've ever seen. The only positive I can think of is that, despite being slightly more complicated than your regular screen protector, it's easy to install it without getting any bubbles under the screen.
Once on, the screen looks extremely tacky. It's almost impossible to install it without trapping any dust underneath. Probably the worst thing about it is the feeling of the material it's made of. Despite having the whole 'being made out the same material as what's used to protect military helicopter blades' gimmick they have going on, I don't think it's a good material to have on your screen. The material is thick and soft. They say it's unlikely to scratch, but due to the soft nature of the material, it's very easy to make (permanent?) impressions into it. After just a day of use the screen looked extremely scratched up and really looked awful.
It also doesn't have a smooth finish. This really stands out when looking at it from an angle.
At prices of over £10 for only one protector this item is an absolute rip-off. Stay well away.

After i bought this Invisible **** for my old HTC Daimond ... I will never buy again this ...this ... **** This is the best word to describe it. INVISIBLE ****
Wow, alot of bad points. I have been using thshield on all my devices in my sig, and i gotta day its worth it. my screen gets protected. yes it does scrathc, bug not as much as other sscreen protectors. i have been using mine since
s eptember. my only con is that on resitive tiuch screens, you have to prress harder on the screen and it gives an unpleasnt felling and squelching noise when you flick scroll. like chalk running down a board thing
Yeah, I bought one of these too, and it was so badly shaped, unpleasantly textured and and difficult to apply that it immediately went in the bin. In the four months or so I've had the phone I've not got a mark on the casing it yet anyway- the unibody is very tough.
I've used many different shield on my phones, and ZAGG's Invisible Shield is imo the best. After couple of days of usage it becomes really smooth and there's no bubbles or dirt under the shield. A friend of mine didn't even notice the shield until he looked at the screen from an different angle.
My advice is to use this material to protect the body, but NOT the screen.
The orange peel effect, reduced luminosity and really poor tactile feedback/stickyness make it a really bad choice.
I put one on a camera screen, also on an iPod. Several years ago now. The protection (& grip/non-slide) offered to the iPod is very positive, but it's a magnet for smudges and other imperfections.
& while we're on the subject, spend a few €/$ and get a quality screen protector from one of the trusted brands, instead of the 10 for a dollar ebay ones
I find that screen protectors last the life of my phones, so it's a small investment really.
to me there are better options than Zagg IS.
I personally never use Zagg's but I've seen couple friends of mine having problems with IS. After a year the edges of the IS-folie seemed to dry off and changed to same faint orange color. They all used full protection (screen + body) and all the edges became so and look ugly.
Upon seeing that, I used Skinomi on both my DHD and Touch HD and I am VERY satisfied. Get from Amazon.com. It's cheaper and it comes with lifetime warranty.
i managed to scratch mine yesterday so much for their special non-military crap!
i was using a pen on my phone, Lol and the pen mark got on the invisible shield. then i tried to scracth it off and it left scratches all over the screen :/

THE BEST BEST BEST solution for me was buying CaseMate POP with screenprotector in it Can 100% recommend it!
Screenprotector CM POP is scretchproof - the black parts of CM POP are "scretchlove"
but... it's great!
I used my iPhone for two years without any protection rather the case (nothing fancy).
The DHD would get the same treatment. No shields.
Just be a little careful and don't put your phone straight in your pocket with some change in it.
Now i have to invest in a new better screen protector, any suggestions?

I fit these things in my work for a price of £6.99 or £9.99 for the whole thing, it's a good piece of kit if you don't mind the feel of it but it only really looks good on an iphone 4, you really can't notice it besides the feel, DHD on the other hand makes it look cheap an nasty, the material is the same stuff they use on the Apache helicopters, it's remouldable for a longer period of time, if you get marks on it then that's your fault, it won't allow scratches easily at all it's very robust, tbh if you want a nice smooth and strong screen protector then may i recommend a griffin as they are the smoothest.
Also when you use zagg you must leave it to set for around about 2 - 3 days to properly benefit it, if you have a problem with dust underneath the screen then you obviously haven't done it properly, i never get dust under the protector.

ZAGG Invisible Shield. Should I buy one?

Hey guys,
I am considering to buy a Zagg protection for my device.
I have three options.
I keen on the 1st one "Maximum Coverage".
I am asking from someone who use it to share with me his experience.
My questions are:
1. How easy is the installation?
2. Any bubbles after?
3. How about the sense of touch of the device? Is it too glossy?
4. Any serious dissadvantage that I haven't notice?
Thank you in advance for reading that.
maybe just me but have NEVER managed to fit a shield without bubbles.
allegedly phones fitted with gorilla glass, but that wont protect against keys etc in your pocket.
no noticable difference in screen sensetivity.
saying that i still use one to protect my resale value
I dont use them. But I have done that before. Remember to turn your phone of and let it cool down for a short while so it does not atract dust and you don't get buubles . And there is lots of videos in YouTube that shows how to do it right. I have had my dhd almost for a year whithout protection and don't have any scratch still. So even without it you should be fine.

My DHD is 22 months old (since Okt 2010). A month ago, my HTC wore a new chasis (bought it cheap from e-bay). I like the cold furbished metal finish that gives me. Thats the biggest reason I don't want to wear it a plastic Zagg.
From the other hand I am afraid of drops and scratches.
That's my dellima I am trying to anwser with this thread.
I had one on my iPhone when I had it and think they are brilliant!
Easy to fit without bubbles, go for it!!
Depends how much damage you expect is going to occur. I bought one of these at best buy. It does a full lifetime warranty. But its a pain. A week after buying it I had a huge scratch in it. I don't know how. But it shouldn't have scratched so easily. Applying it wasn't hard, but you do get bubbles and corners that wont stay down. What I find best that works is to buy a cheap protector for a tablet or iPad. You get about 5-10 screen protectors for the price of a single one. just cut to fit and apply. Make sure to get the ones with the spray, it cuts application time in half. Just don't use too much or you'll get water under the volume rocker and become bricked.

I put invisible shield on an iPod and a camera screen. In terms of protection, they do their job, but I would recommend against them for a touch-screen phone:
1) it is "sticky" to the touch, your finger doesn't glide across the screen
2) it picks up dirt and grease much more than a normal protector - and is difficult to clean/keep clean
3) it's "relatively" easy to apply, since you will wet it and then just place it on the screen, and iron out bubbles with a credit card or similar. HOWEVER, you will end up with an "orange peel" finish, which looks ugly and makes it difficult to view your screen.
Instead, get a good quality screen protector like Brandon (one that will cost approx €10), it will last longer without scratching than the cheap ebay ones, and as a result it will probably last the life of the phone.
i have invisible shild on my dhd ...it's nice because in the first week when i buy my phone, i scratch him a litle bit..so it protecting your glass and you don't get that fingers amprents like on regular screen :good:
I just bought one last week from Amazon and I am waiting for it to arrive.
Thank you all, so far, guys. I 'll stay with cheap screen protectors, and the leather case with the metallic stand.
Update.
The screen protector arrived a couple of weeks ago and I installed it right away. It was easy to install and I like the quality of the screen protector. I would recommend this screen protector to other owners. I plan on buying one for my Nexus 4.
I have install the invisible shield only on display without any bubbles. This was easy. Today, after two years, the shield have protect my DHD display very good.
I would buy the ZAGG products again.

Screen protector opinions?

Hi, I'm going to swapping from Sprint to Verizon. I would like to know opinions on screen protectors for this phone. Currently I have a Zagg Invisishield HD on it, which is "ok" at best. Dent and ding recovery is very slow and often not very effective on the protector, it also produces a plenty annoying rainbow effect under high light situations. I'm wondering what people are using for screen protectors and your opinions on them. I don't mind paying a premium even for a silly screen protector, as I plan to have it on the second the phone comes out of the box, and forever afterwards.
I can't provide much for empirical data, but I've used Zagg before and disliked them immensely. I use the standard one from Verizon and it works great. My finger moves across the screen smoothly and have had no issues whatsoever. Lasts a very long time and sufficiently protects the screen from car keys, change, etc... in the pocket with the phone.
It's not the most expensive route; but has worked well for me.

The standard Zagg doesn't let the finger slip well but the HD version is much closer to glass. I was surprised how much orange peel there is on the HD still. It's still my go to protector because of the self healing properties but it's far from perfect

Ghost armor stuff does look interesting, I am however concerned on it peeling off easily after it being on for a while because of the definite resistance it will have on both sides (I would get both sides, otherwise it just seems like a different zagg for the front). Also what kind of indentation will occour on scratches and what not, would be my next question. Replacement seems to be a b* if i were to get any indentation/scratches on it. Most annoying thing with Zagg HD is the indentation and "would be" scratch marks. They are extremely apparent and don't recover at all/well.
I have a dba just like glass and I like it. It does have some cons, line not covering the full screen. Try and look for a wet application, they are not intimidating at all and are very easy to install. If you mess it up, just take it off and start over.

Not a fan of "buttons on top of buttons" unfortunately. I don't need a full body version, so long as the screen is covered. I baby the crap out of my phone but I just want a screen protector because that's something you can't get away from (scratches) no matter what you do with your phone unless you practically don't use it.
Also, I seemed to have missed the first response in my thread. I was debating just buying whatever and not caring too much about it (I honestly don't care too much about it, but if there's something that's close to perfect I'll buy it for near any amount of money). My phone's off of amazon however so now I'm forced to look for myself instead of being the irresponsible buyer and having a limited choice
Edit:
SPIGEN SGP Samsung Galaxy S3 Steinheil Ultra Nano looks promising. Debating on that and anything I see within the end of the night (need to order it today to get it in time with the phone as well).
I had the ZAGG invisishield HD and it was nice to look at but pitted and scratched way to quick. Then I went with Armour Suits one and it was the same way. Finally got the regular ZAGG invisishield and it seems to hold up nice. Not sure I like the rubbery texture or not though. I work around metal all day and I have shavings and dust on my fingers 24/7. The ZAGG already has scratches on it but I'll wait to send for a new one till it gets worse. I also tried going naked for awhile, and after about a month I had a faint scratch on the screen. But if you're not around metal or sand much, go naked!

I put on one of the ones you get on the Verizon store that are about 13 bucks (you get three) and you barely notice that it's there. I feel convinced that if I had it on, my screen would have survived a fall much better (it is now cracked along the bottom).
Have you ever tried BodyGuardz? I have one on my phone and I couldn't more happier with it.
Whatd you end up going with OP?

These are my favorite Tech Armor. I love the way they feel on the screen, your finger slides across them with no drag what so ever. I also love the anti glare feature of them and it helps a LOT. They go on easy as long as you take your time doing it and don't try to rush. They don't have any kind of self healing to them, but because they're so cheap it's easy to just replace them. I baby my phone as well. You get three in a pack and I usually replace mine like once every month or two. Even if you end up buying three packs you can replace it almost ever 45 days and still pay less than the $25 ones.
I tried Zagg HD and a bunch of other ones and liked these the most. I'd take you a picture but the only camera I have is my phone lol. My biggest gripe about the Zagg was even though they claim you get a life time replacement warranty, and you do, you have to pay $9.99 shipping to receive a replacement. You can buy a whole new set of these for that price. At least try these out, for $7 you won't be disappointed.
I have zag on my ipod touch. Its been on there for 4+ years now with no problems. Plus zags are easy to install and they offer 2 for 1 deals/free shipping all the time.

I have quite a few screen protectors for my s3. I would say Spg Ultra nano is probably the best one out there. Easy to put on, hardly no fingerprints and easy to swipe your finger across. The ones I have tried are Zagg HD. I hated it cause it dimmed my screen and also it was hard to swipe my finger across the screen. Next I tried DBA just like glass. Easy to apply, swipe across the screen was great. But what made me take it off was it attracted way to much finger prints. And also the edges around the screen didn't seal. And I wanted 2 weeks and still no seal. Then I went with the spg ultra clear nano. Best one out there if you ask me. Hardly no fingerprints, easy to apply, sealed perfectly and easy to swipe my finger across the screen. Ordered from spg store online. $15 for 3. I have had it on for about 3 months now and still holding.

I agree with the Spigen ultra clear nano. I don't think you want to take your keys to it but it's so clear you can't tell it's on the screen....I cannot find the edge of the screen protector. I've had it on for a few months and it's very fingerprint resistant, nice feel, similar to the stock screen. Before this screen protector I had never used one...got these for my wife but since it was a 3 pack I used one myself. I will say that these are probably not as resistant to heavy abuse as some of the thicker/uglier/extremely noticeable ones are.
Wife and I have been using Zaggs for years now... as have my friends. Initially, Zaggs are somewhat "tacky" and don't let your finger slide easily. But after it "dries" off completely (or breaks in?) it's just fine. I'll admit, naked-glass and some other screen protectors are smoother, but we all see no problem with the Zagg operationally.
More importantly, is the durability. My wife loves to toss her phone in her purse, and it invariably gets jammed with keys and such. Her older OG Droid was naked for about a week and picked up scratches quickly in this environment. The Zagg prevents this COMPLETELY. It does "scar" if it gets hit hard, but with a lifetime warranty, replacement is cheap and easy anyway. In the end it protects the device immensely... can't beat that.
I used to use cheaper screen protectors (Kingston?) on my old Palm devices, and they needed to be replaced about every 3-6 months as they get more and more opaque or worn over time. The Zagg never does this. I realize newer protectors are better, but my friends who use cheaper ones often have the same issues. So, for me, I'll stick with Zagg.
I haven't used a screen protector on my gs3 and all I've noticed are small scratches that are only visible if the screen is off. It annoys me a bit but you can't even see them when using the phone.

yup. screen protectors are unneccesary.

Cases with front-coverage

I'm looking for a decent full body case that also extends around to the front of the phone and covers around the screen like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/WHITE-BLACK...t=US_Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&hash=item5af1d2978c
Just not a huge fan of white, and reason I'd like to be able to cover over the camera and bottom of the phone is so that it will overlap the screen protector's edge that I have on it (basically the case would be covering where the screen protector ends).
Any suggestions?
PS: I kind of like the look of this one: http://www.amazon.com/Google-Ringke-Selling-Premium-Package/dp/B00B7QGT6U/ref=pd_bxgy_cps_img_z
But the front doesn't extend over.
And then there's this where it doesn't cover the front of the screen, but bevels out abit from the front of the screen from the picture. http://www.ebay.com/itm/LG-Nexus-4-...Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&var=&hash=item4171fea870
Um, the first case you mentioned does come in black.

I actually like the Armor holster combo. I'd so get that if I didn't spend money on a custom dbrand skin lol.
Ballistic case

It doesn't cover the screen per say but you can lay your phone face down without risking scratches.

I'm using a cut (meaning kiosk didn't have one in stock so they cut from another that stops just under the camera and lil past bottom of visible screen) invisible shield, thus why the case coverage in the front like the white one I linked would be perfect cuz it would cover the exposed portion of the front screen.

Why don't you just get another screen protector then?

And spend another 20-30$ ? (it'd have to be an invisible shield, the rest are crap by comparison, have tried others and have had them refunded).

Oh, I mean this is the one I got, maybe not us good but same military stretchy stuff as invisible shield. But man does it cling to surfaces.. I have my bumper on it to though so it doesn't really cling. Probably not what you're gonna wanna go for, but I don't know why you bought half of a screen protector from a kiosk at that price. I've never tried invisible shield so I wouldn't know how good they are.

Oh it's not half a screen it's bout 90% front coverage (starts just shy under the camera, and ends just shy of the notification LED, with basically about half an inch of overlap over the actual visible screen), the white one I originally linked would cover the overlap just fine.
Also the one I got was the HD, it's not that rubbery texture like the older military grade one but rather actual glass-like surface that seems to increase the contrast and black point ever so slightly. It's pretty much invisible at the edge now that it's had about a week to dry out and grip to a lip completely. Also I paid that much because the folks at the kiosk would apply them for you since it's a wet process, and they do an excellent job (or they re-do it, plus if the screen gets F**ked up down the road, they replace it for me).
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=390604167052 just saw this on eBay and I'm going to order one since its only $5 . has anyone bought one before ? Doesn't look too cheap... And I have a screen protector on so it should essentially be an otter box .
