5x faster?

So I return my Inspire and pick up my Captivate again, flash Firefly and I get 5x faster download and upload speeds. Does that make any sense at all? Hahaha.

Yes it makes perfect sense because AT&T got caught and had to admit that they purposely crippled the Atrix & Inspire speeds. Now they said they will be releasing a software patch sometime in April to fix what they did.

It is about time they admitted they were wrong about something.

I was at an AT&T store last weekend and played with both phones. Did a speed test on both, disappointing. I noticed the H+ icon in the notification bar though. My Captivate is faster.

What speeds ya get on data?
I get 3-4ish mbps down in a suburban city, lol

They didn't actually admit to doing anything wrong
They just stated that they're currently not allowing those devices to "officially" use hspa+ and that they'll enable it in the future, like they're doing everyone a big favor.

Proof that the cappy is the ruler of the android jungle. Can't wait for the sg2. Probably the only thing I would put this cappy down for. Samsung and att might have their heads in the black hole with customer service but thats what this awesome xda community its for.

You will see periods of LTE in 4G areas that are scheduled to launch this year before it is fully turned on and announced i have seen this happen in Olympia WA as well which is the next scheduled area to launch this year for WA

switch your phone to LTE mode. mine rarely/never switches to LTE anywhere in my city, but when I set it to LTE mode it switches right away as long as there is coverage.

Weird weird! They must have only been testing a small area. Traveled (on Sunday) about 3 miles from my home and the 4G LTE connection was gone. By 10PM that same day it was gone altogether.

To JonKyu....nobody "gets it up" in Provo. The Mormons don't allow it.

Ha ha ha I believe it new to slc from Atlanta place is kinda weird, but on the subject 4G is at and around the slc airport full fledged and I'm getting minor glimpses of it in west Jordan as well

Yeah, I got 2 diff. 4G connections near State and Main that lasted between 3-4 mins going North, then south, I guess they are doing the Pavlov shuffle... dB-)

Dayton, OH 4G LTE up and running!!

I was excited to see the 4G icon, so I called Verizon to confirm that it is permanent and not just a test. So far, been getting amazing speeds. 7 mbps down, 2 mbps up.

mine popped up at 6 i went in the gym with gym and when i started working out i had 4g. ran speedtest and got 19m that could be dangerous

I was waiting for it to kick in today. But Verizon surprised me with the turn on a day early. Woot. Loving the speed boost for sure.

What areas of Dayton at you getting the hookup? My parents live in Germantown so I highly doubt I'll get anything when visiting but I'm curious to know if it's just the city limits or surrounding areas as well. I live in Columbus but can get 4G at work in Dublin/Hilliard too.

i also hear if you go over a certain speed you get charged $75 so read ur 4g contract carefully cuz guess what i have unlimited net for $45 a month and no mins

I'm gonna be in Sidney all next weekend...will see if the signal can go that far.

I was in Troy/Piqua yesterday. Sorry no yummy 4G lovin' up that far. Ironically, the wife and I both had to restart our phones when we came back to Dayton before they would resume 4G service. Hopefully the next bug fix will resolve that.

I'm in the Cincinnati Hamilton area, had 4g since day 1. Glad to see Dayton join [email protected] dexter, I have an extra t- bolt laying around I been wanting to try to flash to cricket. If you dont mind getting ahold of me for a how to that would be great, if not that's cool to.

you only get 1x internet on cricket if you flash over a thunderbolt. Not really worth it. It will be almost useless.

Get 4g at work in Miamisburg and school in Dayton. Getting about 13 down and 3 up.

My VZW CSR Told me that Ashtabula will get 4g sometime in December or January. Ashtabula is 50miles east of Cleveland.

I'm in Jonesboro AR. Jonesboro was one of the first places on Alltel to get EvDO back in the day. I guess Verizon has pretty much forgotten about Jonesboro AR.

Hell most if the cities surrounding Knoxville have it. Oak ridge for example.
They had actually turned it on at 2am Monday morning... I thought it was a test but it stayed on!! We weren't supposed to get it for a few more days too!
Best speed test I had was 20mbs down and 9mbs up.

They provided a list of who they said would get LTE by the end of 2011. Memphis was on the list. When I bought my Bolt, the salesman in Cordova told me that we'd have LTE by the end of June. LIAR! lol
I can guarantee however that you will get it when you get it. 100% sure of that.

They should update their website. I just looked up coverage there to check a nearby city and their site doesn't show 4G in Knoxville yet.

4G LTE now in Cleveland Ohio .. Wahoooo

Was just outside with my brother enjoying the night air .. when all of a sudden I noticed the LTE symbol show up on my phone .. Cleveland, Ohio .. now has LTE

Well .. you missed it by also about 220 miles !!! Kings Island is Northeast of Cincinnati in Mason, Ohio .. I'm in Cleveland .. LOL

Sooooo Vermont or Connecticut??
Not to rub it in, but crazy fast LTE speeds in the boston metro area. 20-30mbps down average, high score of around 57mbps.

Columbus generally turn up shortly after the Cleveland market. I live in the Mentor area, 20 minutes east of Cleveland and it is on here as well. I was speed test on my Vivid, Lumia and Skyrocket and was averaging around 20-30Mbps and maxing at 50 on the Skyrocket.

On a side note, has anyone experienced terrible battery life with that widget?

Not at all .. I'm running the latest SkyICS from Sean (as seen in my signature) .. using the Nova Launcher Prime and the widget .. Regular usage for daily business, I'm getting anywhere from 16 to 28 hours (28 on a light day).
Overall .. excellent.

CT. If Vermont (or New Hampshire) gets it first we riot (maybe.)
I got to experience LTE speeds when I was in NY and ATL recently and I averaged over 30mbps. I'm sure this is to do with the networks not being taxed so much. I can't wait for the new iPhone to be released which will slow down those LTE speeds due to excessive bandwidth use, much like they did to their 3G network. Knowing my luck we will get the iPhone 5 before we get LTE here.

Strange, when I used that widget with the weather I had some crazy battery drain because it wanted to poll every minute, which was the latest option.

Youre now just getting it? I'm in Akron/Canton/Stow area and we've had it for 2 months now.. Strange.
It kind of makes sense as to why yesterday, in the basement of Great Lakes Brewery (Holy Moses is my new favorite beer, btw and they have GREAT food), i was getting 28/19. I then went to the RHCP concert. It was a great day. Ohh yeah, i had a connoli from the west side market too. It was awesome. and free icecream. It was wonderful. haha
