[Q] Updating to Mango help meeded! - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok, so since i had to get a new HD7 and when i update the phone instead of going to 7.0.7390 it goes to 7392 and i cant use the mango update tool i used before, is there any way i can update it to mango from here?

Have you tried the mangoforall provisioning tool? If you search the general threads you can find it. Actually, if you look through my posts I link to the download for the tool with instructions.

[Q] Question about Microsoft's Support tool

As some of you know, Microsoft has released a support tool to manually update your Windows Phone (kinda).
My question to XDA is: Will I keep my unlock after using this tool?
Thanks in advance.
Edit: I applied that "Keep Zune from re-locking" registry tweak.

Chevron, would be quite obvious to keep my unlock if I were an official dev
Anyway I allready tried it myself, you keep the unlock, so this can be closed.

Is there a fix for "force NoDo" preventing future updates?

Thanks for reading this, I apologize if this has been asked already but I've searched and could not find anything. If anyone knows a fix I would very much appreciate to know. I have the Samsung Focus with ATT
I'm stuck with an unbranded phone and cannot receive future updates, and cannot use Chevron7 to dev unlock my phone to re-brand my phone. The only way I've heard of but have not yet confirmed is by purchasing the dev unlocking tools from Microsoft directly. Being as forcing NoDo on my focus prevents me from using chevron7 to unlock the phone so I can re-brand it back to AT&T. That prevents me from being able to get the new ATT nodo update. My question is, if I purchase the dev tools from Microsoft for $99, would I be able to rollback my focus pre-nodo through zune and with ATT being re-branded, could I get that ATT focus nodo update?
Sorry if this is confusing, thanks in advance for any advice.

Any particular reason you cannot rollback your device using the official tool from Microsoft?
I typed a response back and it didn't post... Scrt, what official tool are you talking about? Do you mean the dev unlock tools you can buy for $99? See I forced the update and I'm stuck with an un-branded phone and I can't unlock with Chevron7 and I can't receive future updates like Mango. I can rollback using Zune but since I can't unlock using Chevron7, I cannot re-brand my phone to ATT to get the ATT Focus update.
So I'm asking if anyone knows that if I buy the dev tools from Microsoft for $99 and unlock my phone that way... Would I be able to do that and re-brand to ATT, then download the ATT Focus update?

Well... i don't know about other phone, but HD7's user, have ansar ported the stock 7004 ROM. I flashed back to 7004 and then get official update through Zune. So, i don't need to worry about this.
I had this problem with my Samsung Focus, i had it unbranded and it was updated to the nodo update.
Now i have the at&t firmware update and Nodo update and my phone is still dev unlocked. So happy!!
This is how I did it, First of all, you have to downgrade or restore your focus to 7008 OS.
Then make sure you phone is dev unlocked and download WP7 Root Tools 0.3alpha.xap
once you have downloaded the homebrew app, rebrand your focus by opening up the WP7 Root Tools app, and follow these instructions: Go to REGISTRY
LocalMachine\System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo\MobileOperator
and SET String then change VALUE: ATT-US
After that you phone will be rebranded to At&t. You can use the same steps for a rogers branded samsung focus, just replace ATT-US with ROG-CA and you should be good to go. Then make sure you use the Samsung Tools.xap app before you update your phone to NODO. just check the prevent relock section in the samsung tools app and reboot your phone, double check that it is checked and update away. There you guys go, im here to help, I hope this helps most of you.

I suggest you follow this guide. It's for Focus but the steps are identical.
I'm astounded that people keep trying to use the original ChevronWP7 Unlocker tool. It hasn't worked since NoDo, about a year ago. To make it work on a gen1 phone, you must install a *very* old ROM. The crazy thing is, this was quite well documented, yet people keep trying...

[Q] How can I get an official update from a device with a ROM demo?

Hello all.
I recently bought a Samsung Focus S (i937) on eBay, but the equipment was a mobile phone demonstration of a store, and as such came with a demo ROM (7.10.7739.25), now I want to install on it a normal rom official, can someone help?
My best bet is trying to find an official ROM for it up here, and then flash it.

There is no way to install ROM on this device.
In my opinion, the only way out of this demo version would be to find a CAB file leading to update.
Here is a thread where you can find official ROMs and flashing tools with complete discription.

SparkW (Verizon Trophy) users had this problem. For the longest time, the only leaked flashable roms turned our phones into demo models! It was terrible because the device would reset itself every day at midnight, and all your data/programming (this is a CDMA phone after all) would be gone!
We where finally granted a solution in that a full Mango rom leaked before Mango's release to Zune, so we could finally "un-demo" our phones. It wasn't for a few months after that that DFT added support for SparkW with their unlocked bootloaders.
If you cannot find a flashable rom, perhaps your phone has an unlocked bootloader available? With that, you could possessively flash a 3rd party rom. I don't know anything about Samsung phones, so I don't know how useful my input is. I do understand how manually pushing updates is a waste a time (it really is.. just a complete waste) as it won't remove the package creating the demo.
Looking at the Samsung Focus S forum.. how is this device not a legacy/low use device on xda? The Spark/Trophy forum is way more active then this?! ;

With the new updates for wp7.8 had news for the Focus S?
Once the zune doesn't update the device, it can be possible to obtain the update via the SevenEighter?
I've tried but without success.
