I have the latest CM7 Nightly installed and I am trying to set up the email accounts on there (aol, live, etc.) and every time I try I keep getting the Sorry message "The application Email (process com.android.email) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." I've been trying to find a way to stop that, clearing data and such, but nothing helps.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the post. I just picked up a G2x last night, rooted it and installed CM7. As soon as I set up an email account it gave me the same error message. I then attempted to wipe /data, /system , caches. Then I installed CM7 (latest nightly) and and gapps. Gmail works fine but setting up any mail account gets the same error.
Update:
I updated my Nook Color and Nexus S. They all have the same issue with the email client. When I get home tonight I am going to try to replace the email.apk from a few days ago to see if it fixes it.
guys look at the CM thread! its a known issue! go back to nightly 114! even if you upload gapps again it wont do it

Not sure what people are doing wrong... but both my email and gmail work fine on 118 and I didn't replace anything. Not that anyone is doing something wrong really (bad flash maybe?), not sure... but just saying both are working fine for me on 118.
The problem only occurs on a fresh install. If you flash 118 over previous nightly where email was already working you wouldn't have a problem.

This was a fresh install... Did all wipes, formatted /system, /data and cache then flashed rom and gapps. No email/gmail problems at all.
Guys, thank you all for your replies. It wasn't a bad flash, I did everything there is to be done. I did notice it was a known issue after I posted this up, and I had looked in the CM thread but didn't see it on there, sorry. There was another nightly that came out, you think it's fixed?

Build 118 is fine for me... if not that try 115 or earlier.
thats because 117 was the problem it seems that 118 is just fine!

Did u try posting this question in the thread pertaining to the ROM? That might give u quicker answers.
Did you restore your Market ID after flashing the ROM?

Many people having the same issue including myself.
Hurray! My market is finally fixed. I flashed back to stock, rooted phone, used adb to delete the following from /system/app:
DownLoadProvider.apk
FactoryTest.apk
MarketUpdater.apk
SecDownloadProvider.apk
Vending.apk
Then reflashed stock ROM again, loaded up Serendipity ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=900568
And now market works. I am not sure if all of this is necessary but worked for me.
i flashed back to stock and installed darkys 8.1 rom and my market was fixed too, really weird how that fixed it, but ill take it. lol
Hi everyone, today I was updating my SKY ICS 4.2E ROM with the latest update, I followed all the steps (it's been a while since Im doing this) and finished, I assumed everything went fine and continued using my phone. later i found out that the MMS.apk was missing and tried to reinstall it but never could. I also tried reinstalling the update but it didn't worked. so here Im asking for a little help, Thanks in advance.

Messaging isn't in Gapps.
OP, SkyICS uses Samsung's messaging apk so your best bet is going to be to re-install the base. I am attaching the MMS.apk from the SkyICS base, so you can try dropping that in \system\apps\; don't forget to change the permissions.

Before you reflash
Go to settings-> Applications-> all -> and scroll ALL THE WAY to the end of the list. See if it is disabled.
This happened on mine, just renable and was good to go.

I've had notification issues with that app; double-check that you're getting all your text notifications before you close the book on this. Otherwise, great app if you prefer the AOSP look, which I do.
It looks good, actually I don't mind how it looks as long as it works. thanks for the help everybody.

Ive updated to the latest SKY ICS R-3. i must say it is the best ROM I've used and always looking for the latest update.
the only problem I'm having is running Song Pop app. I'm addicted to it and SKY ICS will not let it load. it starts up and then a blue screen thats all.
any help here would be greatly appreciated
Yup. Couldn't get it to work at all on skyICS. which sucked because I wouldn't get rid of that ROM, but got JB now and it works!
I'm having the same issue. I upgraded from sky ics 4.2e to 4.2f(non dragon) and it worked on my old ROM, but not since I updated. I posted in the sky ics post earlier... no replies yet hope we can figure something out. I can even help get debug if people need it, I just don't know enough to change code... I only know Linux, not java programming.

Not yet . I posted about it twice on his ROM thread, once someone even quoted me and confirmed it doesn't work, but noone ever responded to my post . Maybe I'll try one more time.
Oh and I upgraded from 2.7A to 2.8B update, and still no go.
Maybe his update or new project coming out will fix this problem MAYBE

Mine is working fine on embryo haven't been on sky Ics in awhile try the clear data and cache and then go back fix permissions hopefully that works if not let seanz know but I doubt there will be anything done he hasn't done anything on that thread IN minute

Currently running the newest SKY-ICS 3.0, and SongPop still does not work. Tried everything, including installing the last Adobe Flash Player with a Flash Installer. Adobe Flash Player runs just fine, but still no SongPop. Had the same problem with Screenshot from Google Play today, as far as force closing, and the same error message. Uninstalled Screenshot, and reinstalled it, works fine now. I did notice the last time I uninstalled, and reinstalled SongPop, it said a shortcut was already on my home screen, but I had just uninstalled it. Maybe it's not truly uninstalling all the way to get a fresh install. I don't know, but SongPop not working on SKY-ICS is the only thing that sucks for me.
Just for ****s n giggles, SongPop support sucks ass. I tried seeing if they knew what was up, and all they do is dance around the problem. Told them all of what was going on in my first comment on there, phone, o/s version, and exactly what was happening. The tech replies with, please reply with all of this info including SongPop username, phone, o/s, sreenshot of when it's failing. I was kinda harsh, and told him I already posted most of it in my previous post, and then sent another reply with username, and a couple screenshots. One of the blackscreen when it f/c's and another one of the error message. Next reply is, try uninstalling, and reinstalling SongPop. In my first comment, I already stated that I have done this many times, along with clearing cache, data, and even did a fresh install of this ROM to make sure none of my other apps, and or settings was screwing with it. Next reply is, We're sorry you're having this isssue, please check back often to see if your problem is fixed. Also, each time they reply to new comments, they close your help request, and mark it as solved. It took me 6 days to get told, sorry it's not working, and we'll try to fix it.
Works fine on CM10/AOKP. Sky-ICS is dead. Switch to a newer ROM.

try using the libCore.so from adobe air:
1. Install the lastet adobe air from google play
2. Copy the file libcore.so from /data/data/com.adobe.air/lib/libCore.so to /data/data/air.com.freshplanet.games.SongPop*/lib/libCore.so , you can use a file explorer like cm explorer or the terminal.
3. Start playing

I just installed a newer version gapps-jb-aromainstaller-20121003-r6-signed.zip.
However ran into same issue. Everything syncs properly BUT contacts.
Anyone have a solution? TIA

Well call me suspicious but did u verify ur contacts actually exist on the Google gmail website. If they are there then this is a first time I've heard of this.
And if they are there u can export them from the website under the contacts section then send that to ur desktop, then copy that to ur SD card. Then open the people app and from settings import the contacts.
What ROM & gapps did it work on last time they synced?

Also 20120726 Gapps > Contacts worked on initial install of CM10 & Matr1x v23 because I did a clean wipe when changing kernels.
What I think may have happened (but not certain) is that another App (My Number, Blacklist, or other) may have caused a glitch with the Gapps/Contacts.
Anyone less suspicious, have a solution to auto update CONTACTS. TIA

Sounds like the cm nightly thread can help u more since I could have been just the nightly ROM issue.
But if ur assumption may be true, then perhaps just flash it again and before u add ur apps, verify that they synced.
Then if they did sync add ur apps to see if one of them did cause the glitch or making them hidden.
One last question:
When u go to settings/Google does it say"last synced on...." next to contacts as well as ur calendar, browser, gmail.. etc?
Or is it unchecked?

I never figured-out the problem. I even reinstalled CM 10 but that did not fix it.
For reasons other than sync'g, I now run SlimBean. (sync works)

First off that 20120726 is NOT the LATEST Gapps depending on the ROM you are using.
Secondly, give my post in this thread a look and let me know if it works for you.

Okay it did n ot work. I was messing with this last night too and I noticed that when I am on gmail (web) and i create a new contact it will not sync to the phone. I even deleted some ontacts from gmail and it didnt sync to the phone it only deleted the ones i dumped from gmail. This is totally agrivating. Cm9 works fine. Whats the deal with cm10??

I'm not understanding how it could be CM10 specific but anything is possible. Maybe try it again a time or two. Maybe it needs to catch up. If that doesn't solve it then I am not certain unless there is another issue underlying. Are you using HaxSync?

this is the stupidest thing.. i was messing with this for a while yesterday and the discovery I made was that it had to do with dupes that I had purposely created. for some reason when I created the dupe CM10 would not sync them. so what I did through trial and error was create ANOTHER dupe with all dummy information (fake fone and fake email etc) so that the phone would think its another contact with the same name and viola!! it worked. so now I am down by about 7 contacts from 47. eventually the other 7 will filter in. thanks for all the help my brother!!! now onto solving the "application not installed" issue. ugh...
Havent been on here in a while..but OMG i used to have that message once in while but lately its been acting up like every time i go in my email..
So is there a fix for that yet?

I haven't seen this issue at all. What ROM are you running? Did you notice this after installing something or did it just start one day/when you received the phone? Try wiping the cache/data from both the Email/Exchange service apks and reboot (will have to redo the information on email) to see if the issue goes away. If not, then it sounds like something messed up when software was installed and may need a reset (can try the stock ROM if running that in Original Development if that's what you are on, may correct the issue with fresh flash). Good luck.
