Music player drains battery?

Is there a music player or codec substitution that draws less current?
When listening to MP3s with the stock player (or any player), I'm guessing it's probably the CODEC that drains the battery. I had a 2nd gen MotoRzr (W490) that I'd play MP3s with, and send audio with a2dp to bluetooth headphones. I could play music for hours with no noticeable impact on battery. When my G2x is behaving, the stock music player drains more than the Bluetooth or WiFi radio - the music player is the biggest single drain on the battery. A little disappointing...
Any suggestions to reduce current draw while listening to music?

Play Music Using double Battery than Pandora

I have the Nexus 5 stock. When streaming Pandora (45-mins) with headphones only 3-5% battery is used.
Going the exact same route to work using Play Music streaming music (45 mins) with headphones it uses 10-12% battery.
Also I notice something called Media Sever is also at a high % of battery usage.
Both Apps are on Normal Quality
Google Music is streaming music that I have uploaded. (None of their subscription)
Can anyone explain why there is such a difference?

Help!!! Drain battery when listen music?

recently i listen music on my xperia xz so i face problem that it drain battery so much, i don't know why. It use 7% / 16 minutes , and the phone heat up everytime after 5 min playing. When I listen to music, i don't touch phone screen at all ,screen is off, wifi off, bluetooth off , no background apps running. Music on my phone all mp3 format, DSEE is off, normalize off, just use equalizer ( than i turn off all music effects, use google play music in stead defaul music play and it still the same) . The thing is baterry on my phone kinda good. I got 5-6 hours SOT when use normal( web browse, etc...) . Does anybody got the same problem and how to fix????
Update: I know the issue on my phone. I use some app to get immersive mode use ABD command so i can hide navigation bar. But seem like immersive mode this way drain battery when screen off and if i play music with screen off it heat up my device. A lot of user got the same problem https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g6/help/immersive-mode-causing-battery-draining-t3621622/page3
Update 2 : I found a way to fix that issue. You have to exclude all music app out of immersive mode ( defaul music app, google play music, spotify,... )
anybody? I tried poweramp with build in it own music fx, i thought it was okey but it not, my phone still heat up and drain 7% per 18-20 minutes . cry how to fix????
Yeah I also got this problem. Dont know why, first thought it would be normal but now I am really sure it cant be normal.
..
I have updated to eXistenZ v.8.0.0 from v.7 and since 16:25 to 17:11 I have been listening music from Google Play Music (wifi) and my battery has descent from 63% to 59% and no heat issue.
You use eXistenZ than your phone probably rooted. I talk about use immersive mode without root with ABD command way

[Q] High cpu usage with Google Play Music (>15%/h)

I've noticed this problem become more severe recently. I've cleaned the cache for the app and looked if there are other options to configure.
8h before total drain the battery was at 100%. GPM was used with a pair of in-ear BT headphones, listening to offline music. The official battery stats say ~6h with the GPM playing, 30 minutes SOT. It was staying at 1% for the last hour of musing playing until it shut down.
BBS was showing that WiFi was connected the entire time (no sleep) and ~80% partial wakelocks, caused by AudioOffload. I've rebooted the device halfway through the battery, so it's not caused by a long uptime.
I'm not sure if play music should drain >15% per hour with bluetooth playback, but it sounds wrong.
I restored everything from factory, without root, let's see how it behaves. Battery life with BT music is better though not stellar. It now drains at 5+%/h instead of 15+%

Question Massive drain with music apps like YouTube music and spotify

Is anyone having battery drain issue with music streaming apps?
The screenshots are with like 30min of music playing.
I'm using Bluetooth buds and the eu ROM
Seems about par for the course for streaming music and using Bluetooth. Phone can't sleep and Bluetooth does uses a decent bit of battery.
No way this is correct, almost no screen power consumption
