How do you re-create a system .odex file? I deleted it when I was debloating my phone not knowing that its required if you want to use the app again. Im looking to get blur email engine and conversations back so I can use stock sms and calendar again. I have the apk's still.

EDIT: I found some odex files from an update that are labeled .odex.p
I copied these over, renamed them, and set the permissions. This didn't seem to do anything. There must be something more that needs to be done.

i tried to use a free-type root explorer; it didn't have the mount as r/w button, so i went and found a program that does only that? anyway, when i delete the apk's from the system folder nothing happens.
also, i need to add dutch to the bilingual stock keyboard.. only current option is espanol. anyone can help? my chef asked me what the code for holland was, it's nl_NL, but he never said what to do with that info after i found it.
There is an app that will uninstall system apps: Root uninstaller, iirc.
Barring that, you can delete system apps by opening the <rom_install>.zip, and going to system->app, next time you flash.
yay that worked.. no wabout that dutch keyboard..
Or even titanium

Don't delete unless u r too sure.
U could go into /system/app folder and rename all those u don't want to .bak files.
I just use the roms who just take care of the junk stock .apks lol
I rather stupidly deleted my LG mail.apk from the sys directory last night so now I've lost my exchange mail client. Can someone hook me up with the apk please?
edit, found it, and a THANKS to Protochip
edit again, that didn't work out so well. The icon is there but won't load. Is there a permissions thing?
edit, again, fixed permissions with CWM, that didn't help.
Did you try giving right permissions + ownership with root explorer instead?

in the end I found a way to migrate everything to gmail which saves me running 2 mail apps in the first place so I've just deleted it again. Thanks for the response though.
has anyone been able to port the stock Motorola text messaging app over to an AOSP ROM?

Have you tried just extracting the text messaging app from any stock Rom? I was on aviator Rom(Moto) and just switched to eclipse (aosp). I just extracted the apk and ran it. Then I used titanium backup to freeze the stock aosp messaging app (or u can back up and uninstall).
The stock app might reinstall on reboot since its a system app. To remove you can use root explorer and navigate to /system/app and mount r/w then delete the messaging.apk. you can also copy the Moto text messaging apk in that same directory and change the permission to rw-r-r. You can accomplish all this with root explorer or any file manager with r/w to system functionality.
I saw a post somewhere that had the zip files for a dark and light version, but can't remember where, but with any system apk, you could pretty much follow the steps I outlined. Just be sure to back up anything you delete just in case.

Does anyone have the stock Motorola app? Trying to get group mms working on CM10.1 and the way I want to do it is through the stock app.
I tried backing up the app with Titanium backup. but it won't show up in the app draw. I've check the permissions and everything.

Here are all the files needed.

The app shows up in the app draw but FC every time. I guess it needs something else when running on an AOSP ROM.

Did you copy over the files from the lib folder as well and change the permissions?

Hi,
I've deleted the app Docs that was in system\app\DocumentsUI.
There was the file DocumentsUI.apk in this folder and a subfolder named arm with the file DocumentsUI.odex like every system app.
I'd like to know how can I restore this app. I've tried to put back in place all the files but Android don't recognise the app...
Thank

Have you set the permission of both apk and odex file? Both file must be given rw-r--r-- as permission.
Yes but it didn't change anything...
The phone recognise the app if I put the .apk in directly in system/app and not in system/app/DocumentsUI but then it can't find the .odex file even if I put it next to the .apk...
It'll work without the odex won't it?

Still no help. Nobody know how I can restore a system app ?
Hey all,
I've been modding some apps, and for whatever reason, when I try to flash thev Xperia keyboard or the Backup &Restore app, they don't want to actually flash into the /system /app folder. I can install them normally, but unless I go in after and copy the lib folder manually the app force closes upon use... Is there any way to make these lib folders and their contents flash?
I've tried explicitly indicating the paths in my updater-script if that helps.
Thanks for any help!
