Can't install HTC Sound Enhancer. Getting message... - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Recently i have uninstalled HTC Sound Enhancer. Now when i try install it i get message from Marketplace: "You need to update your phone using the Zune software on your computer. Some Zune and Marketplace experiences may be limited until you update". Is this application changed to version for Mango or what happened?

where did you try to install the marketplace from phone or from zune.I suggest you install it from your phone marketplace see whether it work or not.

Apparently, your phone require a firmware update.

As far as I know the Mango update hasn't been officially released yet, the issue you may be having could be related to the compatibility of the application with the Mango software update. I am sorry we can't give you further details about this at the moment.

Anyway, I get a message saying that the software isn't compatible with my device(HD7). Perhaps there's and mango version in the works?

What i wrote them
When can I get HTC sound enhancer back on my HTC Arrive. You guys removed it from the market because it was causing issues. I had to uninstall it because it stopped working. Of you can send me the .xap I can side load it , my phone is dev unlocked.

If you restore your phone to default all, sound enhacer appear again.

Messenger "There is a problem with the server"

Hi all,
I am having trouble signing into Windows Live Messenger on my XDA Serra (HTC Touch Pro).
It only happens with my main Windows Live account - when I sign in with my old account Messenger works fine.
The message I get is:
There is a problem with the server. Please try again later.
I have contacted Microsoft and they have "escalated" the problem within their tech support department but ultimately they have not been any use. In the last e-mail I got from them they suggested contacting my carrier. I had already contacted o2 and they said they cannot help in this issue. I am pretty convinced it is a problem relating to my Windows Live account. Hard Reset of the device has not helped.
Please if anyone can help or has had similar experiences post here!

I'd never seen this problem until a few days ago. My connection and internet access are still rock-solid, but suddenly I haven't been able to sign into messenger. I re-flashed the custom ROM I've been using, but that didn't fix it. I suspect either AT&T is trying to force me to use their proprietary IM client (presumably so they can charge me for text messaging) or it is indeed something wrong with my Live account.
Please help me too!
Help me too!! That makes three of us. Im using MSN over EDGE/GPRS and it won't sign in for me too. I keep getting requests of contacts that have added me..and when I click on allow, it says "There was a problem with the server". Sometimes, it just wont sign in at all, come what may.

Have you guys tried signing in over Wi-Fi? It doesnt matter what connection I use, I can never sign in.
Have you guys updated your MSN client PC side to the new 2009 version? Apparently (after I started having hassle with my Touch Diamond today) as soon as you sign in to MSN PC side on the new 2009 client with multi-sign in it renders your account buggered and in turn WinMo won't sign in no matter what you hard-reset or install.
Try an old account that has never signed in to 2009 version and your fine.

Yep this is the conclusion I have come to.
Sadly, Microsoft customer services really don't want to know. I have been in email discussion for over a month, and they are truly useless.
I guess we're at the development team's mercy, if they know or even care about this problem.
It can't be that difficult to sort out for them. Other third party apps (e.g. IM+) are logging in fine and you then get the usual "you have been signed out" message on the PC. So for now I'm going to use a chain of trial versions in the hope that MS sort this out in the next month seeing as 2009 went official this week.
And don't get me started on the new version of the PC client. What primary school children did they let loose on the design?!

I know this doesn't help but I'm also suffering the same problem and also fixed with a new Live ID not that it's the answer! Been playing with a lot of Live services so wasn't sure if Messenger was the cause...
I changed the messenger version and problem solved!
Do a SEARCH on this great site to find another version

Well, still no news from Microsoft regarding this issue. It has been 11 days since I last received an email stating that resolving the problem was their "top-most priority" although they could not provide a timeframe for resolution.
I've emailed them again to ask if there is any news but I'm not keeping my fingers crossed.
It's pretty disgraceful how the functionality of our devices can be reduced in this way through a problem with the server. I hope it's fixed soon.

Microsoft really needs to get more people working on Windows Mobile products. Out of nowhere, all of their mobile products (Live Mail, Live Messenger, Live Contacts, Sideshow) failed to work since the beginning of January and there is no support what so ever.
So it's been about 4 months now since I was last able to use Windows Live Messenger on my Windows Mobile device.
This is so far beyond a joke that it's become funny and then lost all funnyness again.
I am tired of using Palringo, though I do appreciate their free service.
Has anybody managed to get any information about a possible fix? I've read elsewhere that Microsoft have suggested to some people that they just create a new Windows Live ID. This is quite franky a ridiculous suggestion, as I am sure many people are quite attached to their e-mail address. Personally it would be a huge inconvenience for me to have to change my address.
The problem seems to be with the live mail address book. I managed to get it working by exporting my contacts, deleting them, and importing them again. Has been working fine now for several weeks. More info here:

I have deleted all my contacts but I am still getting "Problem with the server".
Is there anything else I can do?
I thought I should wrap this up... a few months ago it just magically started working again.
While I'm happy it is working, I'm still left concerned that the functionality of my device is purely at the mercy of Microsoft, and I am utterly helpless to do anything about it or even find out what's happening.
Uncheck the synch contacts option when installing is the solution..........in step 4 in ver 10.6.***

HTC Touch HD remove Telstra

Hi,
I just purchased a new HTC Touch HD phone T8285.
I have realised that it has come pre-loaded with a lot of Telstra configuration. I am not a Telstra customer and I would like to start with a clean phone in the factory shipped state.
I am in Australia and currently have a contract through Virgin (Optus)
Can anyone advise how I can reset the phone configuration so that all reference to Telstra is removed and that the standard factory settings are in place for Australia.
Any help is appreciated

A further question should I attempt to first use the following ROM upgrade link from HTC to see if it resolves my problem. Rather then using the previous reset instructions...

- will the re-install of this mean that I will not be able to take updates to the ROM from HTC in the future
- will this process work for me as an Australia mobile phone user ?
- does the install include all the Windows Mobile operating system on the phone ready to use

- You can make any update in the future, cooked ROM´s from XDA are much better than any "official" version

Social Web - Remove Telstra Wap Redirections ?

Dont know if anyone can help ... I have been searching the forums, but cant find this anywhere, so apologies if it is answered somewhere else.
I have a new HD2 with Telstra. I have managed to remove the locked quicklinks on the home page, and completed a few other incredible tweaks, but I just cannot seems to get the Social Web links to work when connected to WiFi - they will work when connected via Next G.
On WiFi, when I click on the Facebook icon for example, I get redirected to waprd.telstra.com/redirect?target=facebook-g ... and then nothing happens for about a minute. Just a white screen until I get a message saying "Could not connect to the remote server" . Yet, when I am connected via Next G I connect to Facebook immediately.
I have tried to find the xml code to change the URl, but I cannot find it anywhere.
Is anyone else having this problem, and if they did, was there a solution? Overall I am really happy with the phone (now that I seem to have spent about 3 days tweaking it!) and I would really like to get this fixed.

just wondering how did u get rid of the quicklinks off the the home screen, im not happy how they can not provide a phone in its original state!!any other important tweaks i should do when i purchase the phone??

Unfortunately most of those items are hard wired into the ROM. And the ROM is written to Telstra's specs. Hence the branding and all the BS
I suggest you try a new ROM to remove all of these. You'll have to do some reading to find out which is best for you.
I only just got my HD, and having seen how much Telstra stuff is there I WILL be ROMing it. I just need to figure out which one. If I rememder I will post which I choose.
Currently the MIRI rom looks like the best - new WinMob6.5 and Touch flo.

Any date hacking program for PPC?

Hello guys and gals of XDA!
This is my first post, I recently encountered a problem with one of the program I'm using. Some software restrict it's usage by checking system's date. For example, before 2010-4-1 you can run the program fine without any problem... but after, for example, 2010-4-1, when you run the program, it will give you an error message saying that it's already expired.
I wonder if there is a hack or utility out there that will "tell or lie" to this program that's it is year 1999 without me having to change the system date everytime I need to run the expired program.

this doesn't automatically mean he's doing s.th. illegal
e.g. the iDiamond-Project was for free, but had an expiry date and just stopped working someday. later on, the developer(s) fixed this.

Then he should contact the developers and tell them he needs a fix, not come here and ask us about it.

Miyowa Windows Live Messenger doesn't work

I just installed the so called official live messenger app for android by miyowa.. the program doesn't work. Error reported: msp3 plugin the application encounters an unexpected error (code -8). Any idea?

Can I just say that developer is responsible for the awful Windows Phone 7 version. They claim they're developing for Microsoft but I find it hard to believe when you see all the crap they put out.

Have you seen the newest version of WLM for PC? It's absolutely terrible. So for me, its not that hard to believe

think i found a solution, results that error -8 isnt a software error, but an account error, try changing the passowrd on windows live, maybe that will solve the issue

mango update quick question need help please,

i see the mango update is starting to go live for people and after looking at microsoft site its shows in the uk that o2 are givng out the update.
my question is i have a unlocked htc 7 pro currently using a t-mobile sim can i take this out use my partners o2 sim to see if i can get the update then once updated transfer back to my t-mobile sim?

did you try to force the update with the zune software (the link is in this forum on a different thread). It worked for my phone and doesn't really use my carrier's network (since it relies on disabling your network connection during the upgrade check). It might work for you without doing anything else.

I had to repeat the steps a bunch of times to get it right, but it works fine
But take care, this will probably re-lock your phone, I had no problem with this because I already have an AppHub student account, so I can officially unlock it again
But I'm still facing some problems because students are only allowed 3 sideloaded apps, and since this number is smaller than 300, this means that the phone will be Interop-locked (this is explained here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1265321), so I can't open any code that use native libraries, so I'm unable to edit the registry to increase MaximumUnsignedApps :S
