GlossyNotificationsIcons – installed with tiwili - take it, work it, leave it - HTC Sensation

Hi everyone,
this notification symbols are what you will get with this demonstration:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
(all changed icons and all changed apks visible in tiwili_png.zip)
(this charging text exists only for demonstration reasons, completely useless)
but mainly I want to show my new way of installation. Didn´t find anything in this way. It´s a kind of metamorph on PC.
From the beginning of my experiences with android files I complained about the fact that different mods concerning same system.apk “kill” each other, because always complete apks are installed. In other words: last in – first out.
Other disadvantages I see:
Merging apks only with knowledge of changed files inside
Difficult after updating & reflashing
Download & upload size
Nobody sees how a modification works
Same pngs-names on other devices, but e.g. battery-mods don’t work, have to be recoded
So I´ve searched a lot and find nothing, start trying a lot and that´s the result.
Now it´s possible to:
transfer modifications to other builts or hardware
control modifications. Using WinMerge you can compare existing and updating files
have smaller files
can easily be used after flashing new ROM
There are two versions:
tiwili-png:
It´s just for changing pngs inside folders that can be extracted by packaging tools as well. No signing needed. Script deals with existing system-apks on phone, pulls them, using zip-command-line-tool, update files and finally pushes them back to phone. Easy to use and very useful after flashing a new ROM.
All by one click!
BUT: For battery-mods a basic framework-res.apk is needed with the corresponding xml-files within that define number and matter of displaying icons, the rest is just organizing folder with pngs! I added my framework-res.apk from Android Revolution ROM 3.0.
Installation:
Download tiwili_png.zip & extract it
If you like Dinik´s style you´re free to download framework-res.apk and copy it into tiwili_png folder (for update-size demonstration I wanted to keep “real” download size as small as possible)
Open folder & Run backup.bat
Run IfYouWantMyFrameworkres.bat (if point 2 answered with “yes”, it´s 2.3.4)
Wait for ready phone
Run tiwili_png.bat
That´s all
tiwili-png I did first, but afterwards I thought it´s better to be able to mod every file within an apk by this method. So this came out:
tiwili-wholestory:
Every modification accepted. Works with system- and other apks. Signing included. Pulls dependencies from phone, pulls specified apk(s), compiles, changes, decompiles, signs and pushes back. It takes more time than tiwili_png but it´s more powerful. Placing just pngs in system-apps will do the same like other script.
All by one click!
Installation:
Download tiwili_wholestory.zip & extract it
Open folder & Run tiwili_ws.bat (Backups of original files are later in originalAPK folder)
Wait for ready phone
That´s all (demonstrated text modification on English only!)
As always: I´m not responsible for any damage etc. If you want to go back run recovery.bat.
Tiwili-wholestory is just for demonstrating. I´m not very skilled in modding but didn´t want to stop at tiwili-png. I simply use it to mod a widget-clock-app from market with clock-mods from HD2 forum. (market apps must be signed)
But any developer may use it to publish his mods. Modification is easy, ReadMe inside zip-files.

Who has ideas for better possibilities: talk about it
Who has problems with my english: talk to my teacher, if she´s still alive…
P.S. I don´t know at all which files from systemUI.apk for signal strength are used elsewhere than Germany. But you can simple rename them to proper android file name. Should work.
P.P.S. I bet that´s my first little “program” since the 80´s on my Atari800XL. So don´t laugh so much, please…

Quick question
Is it possible to just get the application background (like how the internet app looks on the homescreen) and not the notifications?

I tried this on coredroid 2.2 the other day and all that got changed was the battery icon. The rest were all the same. Was hoping to get some dinik on my phone.

You mean the icons? They´re made with DesktopVisualizer and icons/iconTemplate from this thread.

What would be more Dinik? Zip contains notification-icons for a lot of system-apps.

Yeaar...
I would like this very much too. i would love if I where abel to remove the icons and show some more appointment instead
got it working with mixing in some manila 2.1 files. got some bugs however, like not being able to change the wallpaper through standard menu (only hdwalls works) ...

Did a little more finetuning and attached the files you need to customize the home-tab like on the screenshot. Install "cmE Home Tab Appointments.cab" and restart sense afterwards to get the new homescreen. "home_tab.zip" contains the same files, in case you want to edit or copy them yourself.
note: this is NOT bugfree, since I couldn't decompile the original lua script without errors, and couldn't find any help on this. BACKUP ORIGINAL FILES BEFORE REPLACING.

This is a good way too start.

Think about getting the Max Manila 2.519202525 Ultimate - v2.5.cab post N°5
This is excactly what I was looking for as well, great, hope there will be a bug free solution soon. It's really important for me to see multiple appointments.
The solution in the post directly above this seems not favourable...
of course people will have to report bugs they encounter, since everything is running right for my needs
Hi,
I'd like to use your files to get more than one appointment, but i have a few questions before :
- You posted two captures, one with weather on the right top, and another one without weather. Which one would we get if we install your files ?
- Is it necessary to edit your files to customize the language ? I'd like to get this interface fully in french.
- Is it possible to add a few shortcuts to applications on the today screen ?
Thank you.
1. It's the second screen.
2. No need to edit any language files. All the files (except 1 XML file for the date - but you don't need it) are language independent.
3. No. I've used Manila 2.1 scripts to show more appointments. I wasn't able to fully decompile the original manila 2.5 files and didn't get any answers to my pm's. As the shortcuts-part was one of the crippled ones, when decompiling, there is no possibiliy to use shortcuts.
Thanks for the feedback
Works great on HTC Leo
Thank you so much for this!!! Its the ONLY way how to get back "device 4 work" again without any music/weather/ whatever crap. Thank you very very much.
Maybe- only one improvement, how to redefine the calendar app back to MS Calendar again instead off HTC Manila Calendar...
It would be a fully "device for work" if it also showed information about tasks somehow...

StarfieldModded LiveWallpaper

Hi Everyone,
Here is my first (modded) live wallpaper, all thanks to britoso and obviously the original creator, We Like CAPS!

it works, but not perfectly. The background needs to be made tileable.
Things I had to do
1) uninstall the old apk.
adb uninstall -d com.kalicinscy.wallpaper.starfield
2) sign and then install this one.
adb install -r StarfieldLeopard.apk
3) enable "Background" in LWP settings.
Screenshot and apk attached.
edit: removed attachments.
thanks got it, when i have that working i will let you know. in the mean time can you check what happens if you put the full wallpaper in the assests/texture folder? maybe the width measurements i made on the first one was not adequate. Unless the exact measurements are coded in followed by making the image tilable. If that is the case, i will put some effort in to making a tilable version of the wall.
It might get really slow though!
click here
the file has to be renamed to starfield_04.png
I used the gimp's filters->map->make seamless tool and it helped a lot.
Its not perfect. Added a bluish version too.
edit: removed attachments.
thats awesome mate, i am a newbie here but already feeling good that senior guys are helping us out! You think you can recode the black stars to white though?
One final request bro,
>here<
is the final image i made using your gimp concept, it worked out well with a slight touch from ps cs4 , could you use this and attach the final apk for me.
Thanks
Below is a new colored icon aswell for the new starfieldlep edition!
All Done! ^Check the first post!! ^
can I check the source for problems?
really cool, i like this new bg than the original.
question, why are some star streaks black instead of white?
Are you finished working on this apk? I mean wallpaper.. The pictures are absolutely stunning. I dont have a N1 yet (42 more days till I do) and I could see this being a full-time wallpaper when I do get one.
I like this Live Wallpaper, but sometimes the app is closed with an error
is there any way that i can get the source so that i can work on errors in it?
Sorry guys for the late reply, but thanks, @samir5421 i downloaded the apk by googling as i have not rooted the n1, if you have a rooted version i am sure you can download the updated apk (starfield) from the market and fix the errors :S
I think the version I have downloaded was a pretty old build compared to the one that is up on the market right now. I am attaching the files I made changes to aswell as the original apk.
@cdmove, I am not actually any good with this, I am just a graphics designer and so i wish someone could get into the guts of this and change the black streaks to white as I have no knowledge on how to edit android resources yet.
>Wallpaper< assets/textures folder

yup and also the stars start of as black [blending into the original bg(b/w)], and move to white, which actually makes sense as or else there would be too many white dots on the screen popping up at the same time, but if its possible to change the gradient from black to white to white to white we could judge it for ourselves.
any fix yet on the fc's? i really like how this looks!
stars with background really slow. maybe you can change the star's background color instead of use an image.

[THEME] Desire Notification Bar for CM-5.0.7-T3-N1

For the community because I couldn't find any around.
24/05 - An updated framework-res.apk ONLY for CM-5.0.7-T3 ONLY! Apply this asper instructions below and change the clock and notification text colour to your preference in the Spare Parts app. CM-5.0.7-T3 ONLY. The 3G icon fix by suffeks is included.
OLDER - An updated framework-res.apk and services.jar based on CM-5.0.7-T2-N1 with the black Desire status bar, Desire icons, semi-transparent pull-down menu (framework-res.apk) and white notification bar text (services.jar).
Edit: I don't intend to maintain this or turn it in to a theme or morph. I just threw it out there. Kang it.
1. Push or copy to /system/framework
2. Reboot
These files are based on test files! Expect them to change or break when you upgrade!

Fair enough on the section... even though it's compiled rather than a theme... I could have put it elsewhere. The mods are pretty friendly round here though, so no harm no foul.
Didn't mean to step on your territory either... I couldn't find a morph for 5.0.7 that didn't break services.jar. Sorry if I didn't look hard enough. I take no creative credit, nor do I intend to maintain, I just thought it filled a gap. Perhaps I was wrong. If this is the case the mods can delete.

but just use correct section.

Excellent, thanks for the update!
It's be awesome if pershoot would combine this + 15 apps + invisible lock screen + custom message.
=D
can this be flashed via recovery?
or do i have to push the 2 files to the appropriate places via ADB?
thanks in advance
EDIT: had to push the 2 files using ADB; works great, using it on nightly from yesterday
Nice, been looking for just the bar.
Ok, stupid question time, I have adb set up on my laptop, but the power cord is fried, need to wait for the replacement to come in. Could I just use root explorer to copy the files over? I'm guessing I'd need to mount r/w first though.

You can use root explorer after mounting /system as rw yes (do this with root explorer). Copy the files as in post #1 and reboot.
Bug
This causes the market to FC every time it tries to install anything.
I've wiped and reflashed cyan 507 t2 and all is ok. as soon as i push servicer.jar and the framework-res.apk it causes market to FC when it tries to install...
Using Root Explorer kept putting me in a boot loop, the phone reboots as soon as I try to replace the framework-res file. I threw adb on my store's pc, got it working just fine that way, thanks for this.
@adam, go to settings -> applications -> Manage applications and go to Market. Uninstall updates, and everything should work fine.

Yes, colours, depth, size and transparency. In fact they're better optimised than the stock images. This was just a stop-gap until somebody releases a 5.0.7 morph or theme though.

How to change the app(not just pic) to match your theme

I TAKE NO CREDIT FOR THIS LOOK FOR IT UNDER G1 THEMES AND APPS I DON'T KNOW IF THE LINKS WILL WORK SINCE I'M USING XDA APP so here's the post go look it up
I've never started a thread here, as I rarely have a unique idea - but this time I've decided to bite the bullet and share my experience.
It has been discussed on these forums about editing the APKs for non-stock apps in order to make the icon match the theme throughout the OS (as opposed to using Bettercut or similar to just change the homescreen icon). It has also been discussed elsewhere, but I can't find the link.
My problem was very similar, yet different, so I figured I'd play around and see what I could come up with.
I use the unbelievably sexy GlossSuite theme by Moonsspoon which uses this cool little icon in the notification bar to alert you to having a new SMS (and maybe MMS, not sure...).
{

}
I also use the app from the market called SMS Popup. If you dont know what it is, check it out - very handy. One of my favorite features of the app is that you can use it for your SMS notifications, and it allows you to set a custom vibe pattern and it will flash the LED the color of your choice - both very helpful to let you know that it's an SMS you're getting instead of a call or whatever...
You need to turn off the native SMS app's notifications when you use this feature of SMS Popup so that you dont get 2 alerts every time you get a message. The drawback to this, while using a theme like GlossSuite, is that the notification icon for messages that SMS Popup uses is the stock icon:
This is only a problem if you're OCD like myself.
I had already gotten the png icon extracted from the GlossSuite theme in hopes that I could just swap it out with the icon inside the SMS Popup apk (if I could find it, that is).
So I decided to crack open the APK for SMS Popup and see if I could find the icon used and what I could do to make it use the icon from the GlossSuite theme.
Inside the APK in the /res/drawable folder there are 2 images: The app's icon, and the icon used in the notification bar. And to make it even easier, the file name was exactly the same as the file used by the GlossSuite theme! Easy enough!
I used 7zip (WinRAR should work just fine too) to:
1. Open the APK
2. Navigate to the /res/drawable folder
3. Delete the stat_notify_sms.png
4. Drag and drop the png I extracted from the theme into it's spot
5. Delete the META-INF folder inside the SMS Popup APK
-- I got this info from the previously mentioned thread about swapping non-stock icons. It is so that when you resign the APK in the next step, the keys don't conflict with what the APK dev has used (or something like that - I admittedly don't know anything about keys and signing and all that jazz)
6. Close your archiving application.
I then used this auto-signing tool posted by "Dave Da illest 1" to resign the APK using the testkeys. It had to be edited slightly to sign APKs instead of ZIP files. If you want to download my edited version of the auto-signing tool, click here.
Uninstalled the previous version of the app, copied the APK over to my SDcard and then used AppManager to install the APK, and now:
(yes, I know there are typos...)
It works!
I'm sure most of your brainiacs here at XDA have figured this out on your own, but I couldnt find any solid information on it so I figured I'd share what little knowledge I had on the subject.
If you want to try this for yourself and want the icon from the GlossSuite theme, it is here.
And if you just happen to have GlossSuite installed and are using SMS Popup and would like my already edited version of the APK, click here.
[DISCLAIMER: If my sharing of this APK goes against any rules of the forum, please excuse my ignorance. If I find out this is the case, and a mod hasn't beat me to the punch, I'll gladly remove this link!]
So - with all that being said, I should clarify that I haven't done any theme creation (although I have edited a few pngs here and there, but nothing major), so obviously this bit of information is probably well below most of you... But if it can help anyone, then yay for my first real contribution to this community.

really if you are using 7zip pull out the png you want to edit and make sure the one you are replacing it with is the same dimensions (i.e. if the original is 20pixels by 20pixels then the replacement should be the same 20x20) and have the new one named exactly the same (i.e. original named awesome.png then the new one you name awesome.png case sensitive) and drag the new .png back to where you got the original from inside the apk there is no need to resign. so leave the Meta-Inf alone and adb push the .apk file back onto your phone where you got it from.
... so what i'm getting at is no need to delete the meta-inf and resign if you are replacing the .png with a .png of same dimensions and name.
unless i'm missing something which i don't believe i am. (then again i don't use a file manager to reinstall the .apk i just push it to the phone.)

[Cornerstone][Theme] Cornerstone themes

For those of you who are interested in Cornerstone I took the liberty of putting a little theme together. Keep in mind this is a work in progress and i would appreciate any suggestions or tips.
Before you do anything back up your CSPanel.apk file
Rename to CSPanel.apk
Close Cornerstone
Go to system /app
delete CSPanel.apk (or copy elsewhere and rename)
Copy Modded file to /system/app
Install app
restart Cornerstone
Oh ya this is totally unauthorized so none of the brilliant developers (cyanogen(mod) or Team Eos) should be held responsible if your tab blows up or takes over the world. I as well will take no responsibility if anything happens to your device.
Just incase i'm putting the original CSPanel up as well.
Both Versions have simmilar changes.

3. all the icons
4. Make the divider bar between the windows smaller or transparent (as soon as i figure out how)
5. Make the whole thing blend a little better into the system and not just a giant black box with apps in it (as soon as i figure out how)
(pretty much everything else)
Started checking this out on Saturday so i'm still learning. First theme so please be gentle.

For those of you who are interested in Cornerstone I took the liberty of putting a little theme together. Keep in mind thiis is a work in progress and i would appreciate any suggestions or tips.
This one is obviously Team Eos and i am currently working on one for the CM9 version.
Essentially all that has been done for now is changed the logo and the horrible blue bar that shows when a window is active.
Rename to CSPanel.apk
Close Cornerstone
Go to system /app
delete CSPanel.apk (or copy elsewhere and rename)
Copy Modded file to /system/app
restart Cornerstone
Oh ya this was totally unauthorized and Team Eos nor myself take any responsibility if your tab blows up or takes over the world.

Followed the instructions and even took the extra step of updating the permissions and it told me the app wasn't installed. So, I installed it and everything is running fine.
Nice job. Looks great. Just wanted to share my experience in case others run into the same thing.
good to see another themer here. Just a hint it might be easier to just use villan theme installer rather than replacing apk's as then you do not have the issue of apk corruption or people complaining about loosing the app when they have done something wrong

K cool i will check it out.. Thanks (That is gonna take some time to wrap my head around i'll give it a try this weekend)
Updated to include CM9 version and original just in case.
Any ideas on how to make this really cool?
Plus I did check out Villain themer... seems from what I read if you flash the from the changes go away. This may be good for the future but since for each release of the Team EOS and CM9 you have to reflash the rom so it may not work.
