I have got to say, I finally feel like I can use my phone without having to be concerned with the battery the entire time. Ever since I got this phone I have always been reserved about usage due to the battery literally draining right before my eyes. I could watch as the phone would drop 2-3% in just moments of use.
Yesterday, I had the phone unplugged and on 4G with normal use for 11 hours and still had about 30% battery. This is very acceptable and much improved. I've literally lost 27% in an hour and a half with very little to no use at all, so I am super pleased with my results. Just thought I would share.

please do..I am getting 6 hours on 3g wit my thunderbolt
I have been running BAMF 1.5 since it came out, with the updated radio and the stock kernel that it comes with. I unplugged my phone at 10am this morning at 6 hours later I am at 91% I had one reboot yesterday, and it dropped to about 85% and plugged it in last night at around 70ish%...so far so good.

I am just running the leaked update, no ROM flashed over at all. It is rooted but thats about it. I have JuiceDefender - free set to the "balanced" setting. This is why I am so excited, no other types of managers or automated processes. GPS is on all the time and wifi was off during that 11 hour period.
Another comment is, it stays connected to 4G SO MUCH BETTER. It used to hang up on me all the time then drop to 3G after 10-20 seconds. Now its just 4G pretty much all the time except my house where I seem to only get 3G really, but I have wifi setup so I am not concerned.
Prior to loading the leaked radio and installing BAMF 1.5, I would leave my phone on my side table at night with around 90% battery or so and by morning it would be down to under 10%. This happened repeatedly and was with it configured to use my wifi.
Now with both installed, I wake up and find my battery no lower than 75%.
I may just have to give Juice Defender a go. I've been hearing only good things about it.

a couple of texts, facebook browsing, email checking, and a phone call, all in 4G area, I would say light use...
I can't say much for battery life as mine dropped around 18% last night and before I installed the new radio I would usually drop around 1 - 5% (with data/wifi off). But this is the first time (flashing yesterday) that I've run anything other than Virus. So, I'll give it a couple more nights to see how the battery drains after things settle in. I did notice a buttload of apps in the background this morning.
However, today at work, I've kept a solid 4g signal for the first time ever since I've had the bolt, since three days after it was available.

I agree.
7 hours of usage and I had 51%. I check my phone often for work, send texts, several dozen calls (30 seconds to 3 minutes), playing music for about 5-10 minutes, 5-10 of internet surfing. I love my phone more than before!! I can't wait for the Gingerbread release.
Think my issue is with on, off 4g because of weak signal. New radio, remix 1.5. Battery life improved but still a long way to go
So, after a full charge, this is where I am.
If that's on 4g I would say it's pretty good even if your not using the phone, mine gets about 10 hours with average use and only 3g.

Impressive.
With insertcoin + adw + anker battery, normal use.
2.3.4 kernel makes a huge difference it seems.

Could you elaborate on, "normal use"? How long has your screen been on? How much gaming, web browsing, and phone calls?
Matt
Also, for future posts, it may help to be more specific. Your post is simply titled 48 hours, then the info in your post is just ROM, kernel and launcher. Probably should have called it 48 hr battery life and as the other poster said, provided specifics as to what you call "normal use."
charged to full and unplugged before sleep.
woke up, did a bunch of fiddling/browsing for half an hour. turn on screen periodically probably once in an hour. Browse feedly a few times during the day. No gaming, few minutes worth of phone calls. same thing next day.
3/4g antenna is ON, (no battery savers running). I also only run one widget (smoothcalendar) and black background. Exchange activesync (tons of work email) and gmail sync are the only ones in use.
Juicing up another charge now and installed latest insertcoin with smartass cpu governer so may even get more this time around. I'll keep a more detailed log this time, but suffice to say I'm very happy right now. I hate charging.

I thought this was about the name of an horror movie or something like that.
WOW!!! That's a lot of angry birds!
pics or it didn't happen.
I last charged after the Panthers game Saturday night. Its almost dead now.
I use mostly phone text and email with some game play etc.
I'm on 2 days 11 hours 15 minutes....time to charge
Ugh. Maybe its because of the number of Widgets I use (one per page/sense) I only get a day, consider I unplugged 3 hours ago and im at 75. Oh yeah, been using unity kernel

OK since yesterday's charge:
been on battery for 19 hours
53 minutes of phone (i usually never use much but had conference calls)
1 hour 33 minutes of display on
it's at 50%
I get 1/2 a day if im lucky, quite often use it as a usb drive for my head unit when i drive so it gets a little charge with they way i drive Play iMobsters hourly,Also play SOG and make alot of calls. My hero lasted me about the same with the same use
I can not get more than 8-12 hours on any modified ROM. I have not tried insertcoin but 48 hours verse 8-12 hours is ridiculous. I don't have the 1900mA battery but the ratio should be the same, meaning i should be able to get 1520mA/1900mA X 48 hour = 38.4 hours. Something is wrong on my part. My standby rate is like 8-10% per hour and that is without installing all my apps.
To the original poster, after flashing the insertcoin ROM did you calibrate the battery and how many cycles have you gone through to get to 48 hour usage?
I only went through one cycle after re-calibrating. You should try a 2.3.4 ROM, I'm guessing that's what's making the biggest difference.
I'm on 42 hours now and it's got two yellow bars now. Would have got a lot more if I didn't talk on the phone, which I normally don't.

It appears that you barely use your phone. I usually have 4-5 hours on my screen for some 80% of the usage and I get 15-20 hours a day on my chichitec 1900mA/Hr battery. The battery SHOULD last awhile if not in use.
A 2.3.4 ROM you say? Wont CM7 be a 2.3.4 ROM? Ill give that a go when it comes out and is stable.

*New* How much does your battery drain per hour. I can't remember what it was with the Note but I think it was 1% an hour. I'm at 90% currently after 5 hours so that's more than 1%. *New*
*Old* Man I have the absolute worst luck in the world. I had a phone with great battery life but had to return it because of light bleed. Now this phone is down to 92% after only 20 mins off the charger with 19 mins of use. I'm literally watching the battery decrease. That seems unacceptable to me. I never noticed it draining that fast on my previous one. But everything else on this phone is prefect. I can't win.
After 5 hours it is down to 59% with 44 mins screen on time.
I'm pretty sure I'd still be around 80% on the phone I had to return. I can post pics of that phone's battery life also if you want. *Old*

How about using it for more than 20 minutes before making your judgement call?
My battery meter is always a bit off, sometimes I am below 90% before I even get into work at 9 AM but it ends up lasting until 2 AM.

This, definitely.
I definitely think there are some serious calibration issues on my phone as well...
TWRP recovery always shows 10-15% more battery than I see in the ROM ...also, when I reboot the phone the battery% comes down by around 5-10% and when I connect it to a USB cable to transfer some files , the battery% goes up by 5-10% in 2 mins ...
but the good part is , my phone still shuts down when the battery % reaches "0" ... so I am good with it
Hmm. Interesting. In all the smartphones I've hard previously (Sanyo zio, HTC EVO 3G, HTC Inspire 4G, HTC ONE X), the battery drains quickly. I'm a field technician so I drive a lot. I've found that usually the battery will die near the end of the day if I don't keep it on a charger at some point in the day. Normally when I'm driving, its plugged into the car charger. And really I don't think I do a whole lot with it. Well actually, I do everything with it. But I'm not gaming or anything like that. Mostly bluetooth calling, browsing the web, sending emails, taking photos, etc.
I do agree, don't make a judgement call when its 92% battery.
I was getting 1 day and 5 hours with 3 hours screen on time consistently with the previous phone. The best I've gotten with this one is 20 hours and an hour and 45 mins screen on time. Maybe I just need to put this through its paces longer. Who knows.

Battery meter isn't calibrated out of the box. Charge to full, and use until 10-20%, repeat a couple times to calibrate the battery meter. Then make judgement on battery life.

That looks relatively the same stats I get on a slow(er) day... But with that said, I use my phone for everything and scrambled eggs. So far today, as I'm on the train to work, I'm getting a LOAD of screen-on time; 1.5 hours of screen on time (lots of reading, lots of emails, lots of music going on all at once, all the time) and I'm at 58% after 2.8ish hours of total "up time".

2 hours and only 14 mins of screen on time and down to 90%. WTF is wrong that they can't make every phone relatively the same?! I feel like I only paid 5 bucks for this phone. Seems like that's all it's worth. Out of the five One X's I've had, every single one was different. That's bs. I'd still be at 99% with every one of the four previous ones I had.

If they can't make these phones consistent for every user them they shouldn't sell then at all. If they took more time making the batteries insteadof rushing them through the line as fast as possible then maybe there wouldn't be so many problems.

Want to get an idea of battery life with Verizon LTE on the S3. When voting in the poll please include the following of what type of user you are 1) heavy user 2) moderate user 3) barely use the phone aka mostly on standby.
I'm interested in the screen time on, not standby, and only those with LTE access.
heavy user days I get twelve hours
moderate days 15
not at all 2 days.
Heavy user I get 12 hours with 3-5 hours talk time and heavy Internet usage about 2 hours, 14-16 if I cut my talk time and Internet usage down 30% . my rezound with extended battery would last longer larger battery obviously, I think the s3 would have even better battery life if the antennas were better they are very poor compared to my rezound which makes a difference in battery life. But all in all there is noticeable difference in battery advancement with s3 I hope all phones will have battery life like s3 and better

I'd say I'm a heavy user. If its fully charged before i go to work, i dont need to charge it until after i get home(8 hr work day) and i usually plug it in at 10%. 4g, internet, Facebook, YouTube, Kindle, a lot of Google Talk. BUT I do have my screen brightness set extremely low.

my mind is blown seeing all of your battery life's.. i get to 10 hours if i'm lucky...

If the screen is on because you are using the LTE, you are going to sap the battery much more quickly. I love the LTE, but it is not battery friendly. If you aren't using a lot of network, then you are correct. Most peoples on screen time is because they are using their network though.
