Hey guys I rooted and installed gingerale 3.0. Problem is I kind of miss using swype. Is there an apk somewhere I can install to get it back?

Should be a beta on their website. Free to sign up and install.

I got my Galaxy 3 updated to froyo (2.2) but the swype package in it says it is configured for some other device and will not work properly, I even took my phone to the service center but they said that swype will release an update and then the swype would work. I also tried to download the swype beta but the installer says to remove the swype by the company. Can anyone help.

The update is official to froyo.
Uninstall swipe, then re-install it with the swype installer. Swype isn't available on the market.

I've seen a lot of threads and such about how the LG Camera was dropped in the GB update, but I'm also curious about what version of Swype is installed. I currently still have version 2.26.68.18981 of Swype that came with my phone. Does the GB update have an updated version of Swype installed?
it has the same version of swype unfortunately
also if anyone had the beta installed, it'll override that so watch out
2.29.71.xxxx
Really wish I could update without root.

Yep. It has the same one that came with the phone.
Just sign up for the beta and always have the latest version.

It says specifically on the beta page NOT to install the beta if your phone came with Swype installed already.
Guess we'll have to wait for an official release of 3.0?
well once we can get root you can remove the old swype and install the beta no problems
Hi, I recently updated to 2.3.3 firmware on my x10. Now the g4 app is no longer compatible with my device says the android market. Therefore, not letting me download it. Could anyone still running 2.1 get ahold of the latest version apk somehow and upload it for everyone? That would be awesome thank you!
Anyone? This needs a bump
Downloaded and installed fine here. Wolfbreak's 2.3.
Here's the apk
Woooow someone actually replied thank you! Lol anyway where did you find it? Reason I ask is because I saw the 1.4.77 version for 2.3mb or whatever it is somewhere on Google but I didn't know if it was legit or not...the one on the market is 1.4.203 and 5 something megabytes
Got this one from the market...
Can someone provide apk for G4 v1.4.321? I couldn't download it from the market as its not available in my region.

I have tried to get rid of the stock swype and install the swype beta. I tried to uninstall it and it is a system app. I tried bloater. I tried to simply delete the app. I thought I had gotten rid of it but the beta wouldn't install.
I am using a stock rom that is rooted and I have ROM Manager installed with the latest 5027 recovery.
I have played with other rom's and can install the beta with no problem.
Any ideas on how to do this?
Thanks.
Download titanium backup and delete it through that app. If you need help ask

I had tried that before. I first tried the "trick" way of getting rid of the app through the recovery and that didn't work. Then I converted the app to a user app and then uninstalled it. Then I installed the Swype beta and I chose the correct keyboard but the Android keyboard popped up.
Then I restarted the phone and then installed the Swype beta and all went well. I had tried this before except that I didn't think of restarting the phone.
So, I thank you for confirming that it could be done. This is what we do. We keep trying until we break something or solve the problem.
Did you delete the swype file under system/lib try that and see if that helps.

I used Titanium to convert to a user app. Then I uninstalled it. Then I restarted the phone. Then I installed the swype beta and it works great.
I just wish that it wasn't a beta and could be bought and updated. I have tried many keyboards and always come back to swype.

Why convert first? I never do that

Just curious if anyone has had a problem installing swype? I got the installer downloaded and after logging in and selecting the swype English keyboard u get an error saying unable to parse package.
I have tried downloading and reinstalling the package again but same error.
Anyone else having this problem?

Have you tried to download it on a PC and then transfer to the device ?
FWIW, I was able to restore my Swype installation from 1.72 with Titanium Backup Pro with out issue. I'm not sure if it would be "safe" to post my backup for others to install though (may have Swype account information in it, not sure).

Is the build in trace function junk? HTC keyboard has the ability to swipe.

I'm having the same issue...the Swype Beta website says to remove any associated apk's and try again in a few hours.
I downloaded a version from the net (attached below); it installed fine (the official installer recognized and approved it, too) but it was scaled down by about 2/3. Still functional, but too small to really use. I'm going to keep looking for it while I wait to retry through the official installer.

The HTC trace function works okay, but not nearly as intuitive and smooth as Swype. The biggest feature I miss is Swype's ability to correct words anywhere in the text body, not just at the time of typing a word.
So I wandered over to the gs3 forum and found the 720p swype extracted from a gs3. Here's the apk.
no need to thank me, thank the gs3 guys
I believe 1.82/1.85 rooting breaks the swype installer somehow... i had it back when I was stock. I still think they need to adjust this keyboard to have taller keys since the screen has so much room but this will do.
Thanks, Idealz...that worked well for me. Nice to have Swype back, the HTC version just doesn't stack up.
I am also not able to make the fmradio app show up in the app drawer, worked fine on 1.73. Any ideas?
Try flashing Clean ROM SE 2.6. It shows up for me.

Sorry guys, had to remove the links to the Swype apks. Apks for Swype aren;t allowed to be posted on the forums. You have to get it through signing up with Swype.
I suggest you try the "Trace" feature built into the HTC keyboard, I find it works just as good, if not better than Swype. I use it all the time.
The issue isn't with any on the ROMs. The problem is with Swype itself. I'm still on 1.73 and I get the same error. I saw someone posted that the file is missing on the Swype server (based on review of his logcat file). It sucks that Swype isn't rushing to fix this. The HTC version nor SlideIt can compare to Swype.

scotsman, I understand the reasoning behind this, and well, those are the rules.
But I want to point out that it is currently impossible to download for a lot of people, and Swype itself seems more interested in working on a new version than on solving this issue. I.e., I want to get it from Swype, but it is simply impossible.
*edit*
try touchpal, free in Google Play.
Is it just me cos I don't see any apk here.
I just downloaded the Swype installer from Swype.com
