[Q] Where did digital zoom go? - T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide

Just wrapping up 30 day trial with mt4gs and leaning towards keeping it. Biggest missing feature...digital zoom.
The Nexus 1 had a measly 2x digital zoom, which I wouldn't think I would miss all that much, but I do. When I saw the specs and marketing I figured it would replicate that, but alas, no digital zoom.
A - is this a standard Gingerbread item that is missing/eliminated?
B - with root is this a feature we could expect in the future to go along with the other photo tools?

Click on the screen to make it focus (with the little green circle), and you'll see a slider bar on which you can adjust the zoom!!!

there's zoom, whiling holding the phone in landscape, by the bottom left screen, slide your finger to the right, and you should zoom.

Thanks so much!
That was not easy to figure out nor find. Once of course you showed it off, it was easy.
Any idea if it is 2x or more?

You can also use volume up and down for zoom...

Some Examples of zoom..
I need a few more posts before I can showcase the photo test I did. (no outside links)

I tried this a few different ways in landscape mode. When in 'Auto' moode as the original answer stated there is a green circle, clicking it anywhere will bring up the onscreen zoom controls, which is a slider left to right.
I didn't see a "slide to show zoom" option with all the methods I tried.

That is VERY slick. Thanks. Fine grain control is a nice to have and works in HD Video shooting to, where a slow zoom can be achieved. Great tip.

Some Examples of zoom...(yep, I'm excited)...

50% Zoom
100% Zoom
All images were taken from the exact same height in quick succession.

In the third image I see two errant dog hairs on the floor. That's a nice zoom!

You know, you can click "Edit" so you don't have to post so many times XD

Thank you. I wasn't allowed to post the photos/links until I had 10 posts... Sorry for the clutter. Good tip too.

X7510 Touch Screen Problem

I faced a problem with my X7510 touch screen last week, when I was using the program,Notes(in Landscape Mode).
As you see in the picture below, the touch screen doesn't work in a narrow strip in the left side of the screen.(about 3 centimeters)
When I reported this problem to HTC-Company,they told me that all X7510s with original Rom have this problem.
I would appreciate if anyone can test this and inform me about the result.Note that I am using the X7510's original ROM.(sorry for my bad English!!)

My Friend,
They just lied to you straight forward. Mine works just fine. Here are the original pictures in bitmap format. I will convert them to jpeg and post them here.
Here are the jpeg pictures:
As you can see. they work just fine either HORIZONTAL or VERTICAL.
Make sure you send them copies of these pictures and send them a copy or link of this thread. Smear it to their faces.
If the problem is only found in one application (Notes), then the problem is not your screen. It is probably due to a conflict with one of your application.
On my O2 XDA Flint with the OS Build 5.2.19217 (19217.1.0.6) I see something similar.
In landscape mode, in Notes/Drawing mode, there is a lag when drawing in the space you mention in the left margin, though it does draw after a delay of about 0.5 seconds.
Typing is not affected

So, you know how Sense doesnt do landscape?

On the home screen and app drawer, at least. Well, my dad has a stock hero and he left it on top of his car and drove off. It slid off the back, broke out of its otterbox and exploded in a bunch of pieces. He found them all and nothing broke.
BUT! Now sense rotates into landscape on the home and app screens when the phone is turned sideways. How does a big fall remove what was thought to be a software limitation?
Picture or it didn't happen...
Gladly.

Sorry for the quality. Lighting isn't so good in my room.
That's interesting...
Landscape layouts ARE available in some versions of Rosie (since the 2.1 update, which I see you have), theory is that this was in expectancy of a landscape Rosie which eventually came in the form of the Desire Z. When this build was ported to the Dream, which had an HW keyboard, opening the keyboard would also give you that landscape view.
What's interesting is that the breakage somehow triggered landscape to be enabled. There's two ways for an application to change orientation; nicely by allowing sensor rotation in Android_Manifest.xml, and forcibly by having an HW keyboard (or whatever it's trigger is) which will send the Landscape view request to the OS without needing the sensor orientation.
Most apps use "sensor" or "nosensor" for orientation purposes, few use "portrait" and "landscape" to force the app to stay in a certain orientation. Rosie is programmed for "nosensor" since the devices that used it up to that point were supposed to lack the kb-open trigger.
I wonder which piece inside the hero it is that "moved" and is reporting an open keyboard when orientation is changed... weird indeed...
Yeah who knows, I guess it just got tricked into thinking its always in text input mode and rotates freely. I didn't know any phone running sense could do that, so its good to know it at least isn't a one time deal.
BTW, I wasn't doubting you...I just really wanted to see pictures
That is hilarious...does it "scroll" then, as I see some icons are cut off?
That's pretty cool. Does it take forever to rotate like it did on the g1?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Right, the icon placement isn't quite right but it does scroll side to side, and the app drawer scrolls. And no, it rotates very quickly actually.
Watch bicentenial man then find your phone some drift wood and wait for it to make you a fortune

FFC in reverse?

First off let me save it my apt for some reason isn't loading up G2x q&a, which is why I'm posting here.
Now for my question.
Has anyone noticed, that the front facing camera takes pictures in mirror image?
Case in point:

Here is the same item using the RFC:
Just found it interesting. Anyone know why?

Maybe because its use is for video calls...stand infront of a mirror and talk, thats how the other person actually sees you.

Ehhhh, I appreciate the input, but my webcam doesn't work like that. Although, who am I to discredit your theory, it's better than mine which is better than any thing I can come up with.

/facepalm
open the FFC and hold the phone facing you but near a wall, right or left side is fine... now switch it to the RFC and hold it near the wall... view the photo taken with the RFC from the view that the camera was facing, keep the FFC view facing you... see how the wall on the two different camera views are both on the same side?
if it is still not clicking then lets try this... go to a MIRROR, imagine that the person you are seeing is not really yourself (hard i know lol but think abstractly)... point at THEIR left eye... now, point to YOUR left eye...
now think of the different cameras in the position of the mirror instead and how the different views would effect what you are actually seeing... have fun with this mindfuck
It is all about the orientation of you and the camera and what the camera is viewing then what it is displaying back to us...
btw the FCC is showing the correct view

[Q] Anyway to make the top left of the screen more accessible?

I love my nexus 5 but UIs that require me to touch the top left of the screen are hard to reach. Is there any way to apply a per app hack where the top bar can be stretched or maybe lowered? I appreciate I won't be using all of the screen but it will be worth it for a few specific instances e.g. gmail and hangouts.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying your problem is. Everything should be adjustable per your preferences by default. Maybe you can elaborate in more detail.
Had this issue with my Samsung note 2... One of the reasons I bought the nexus 5 is it fits my hands and my thumb can reach the entire screen. This doesn't answer your question but it was my solution to this problem.

Your picture actually did a great job of explaining what you meant to say. I understand now.
Silly question/statement, but do you know that pressing the "Back" arrow in most cases such as that should take your back to where you were. Most often, that specific option like you displayed, that you can't reach, can be activated the same way by hitting the back button.
There are however, plenty of apps and situations where you need to hit an option in the top left corner and the back button will NOT do this action. I have big hands and have gotten used to being able to tap something on any section of my screen.
You could try installing a mod/app to enable custom gestures in which you can swipe a gesture towards the right and set it to that function. (ex: gesture enabled when you swipe from the center of the right towards the middle, it activates a "back" option.
You can try installing "GMD Gesture Control" for this.
Just a suggestion?
Thanks for your reply! I didn't realise the back button could cater for some of these scenarios. I also didn't realise I could swipe from the left for a lot of these apps. This caters for most of the scenarios so I'm happy now, thanks!
Grabbing anywhere on the left edge of the screen and sliding right does the same as pressing the icon up high. Same goes go for play store.
good day.

Finally a new landscape mode keyboard phone...kind of

It's not a real tactile keyboard but at least it's a new landscape keyboard-ish phone with new hardware. I'm disappointed it is a screen but if it's customizable then that would make a bit more sense instead of it just being a silly gimmick. I don't need a camera button on my keyboard, I'm not sure what's beside the 1 key or the left/right arrows, I don't need a symbol button where backspace should be and it looks like a whole row worth of space is wasted where there is just the speaker symbol.
It might be better than the landscape mode blackberry options though but there's no way I'll be able to type on it without looking as well as having a tactile and real physical keyboard. At first I thought it was a real keyboard and got so excited. I have come down off that high now.

Damn...it was a hoax. Just some sort of concept art someone was using to get their name out there for graphic design.

Not sure if this was posted previously, please share. Coming from the same folks that developed a keyboard mod for the Moto z phones
Sincerely hope the device is successful

instead of adding that in a 2nd post, you should edit your OP to remove the unsourced clickbait fake pic and rumors... then replace it all with the actual *factual* new landscape slider, which *is real*, has *legit sources*, and details could be found since mid to late 2018, now directly at https://www.fxtec.com/pro1 or just delete this "fake news" thread entirely.
