Hi guys,
it's been a while we didnt released update, sorry for that.
the project is not dead, it's just that it's taking a lot of time and you know it's vacation time, even for devs
hopefully munjeni/derefas published great versions and the fact that we share source code help to share fixes between versions.
so here is the new version of the day, featuring Froyo 2.2
Link to download:
http://code.google.com/p/photon-android/downloads/list
What's new?
What's new versus 10/07/2011 version:
- gps.conf updated for fast GPS [from xda]
- telephony.db updated (fix some users not having 3G working)
- timeswitch workaround [by r0bin]
- g-sensor calibration fix [by r0bin]
- usb/ac cable detection fix [by r0bin]
- battery driver updated [by r0bin]
- headset sound fix (voice + mp3) [by r0bin]
- overclocking/underclocking capabilities [from ladios]
- light sensor fix [by cardsharing]
- usb stability [by cardsharing]
- headset audio glitch [by r0bin]
- camera snapshot fix [by cardsharing]
- power saving mode (better battery life) [by schlund]
- touchscreen calibration [by schlund]
Enjoy and as usual, feel free to report any bug or issue you might have on this new version!
Note for people updating their existing system:
/!\ Make sure to do a backup in any case (titanium backup seems to work well)
if you are using [10/07/2011 r134++] from google page:
Lucky you, you dont need to format your SD card or delete apps or whatever:
Just overwrite everything exept system.ext2, run haret as usual and you are good to go!
if you are using munjeni release:
you can try to do the same: overwrite everything exept system.ext2, run haret and see if it still works
if your android is not working well after partial update:
then you will have to do a full upgrade. use a backup program (titanium or other) and enjoy!
Thank you very Much! Robin & devs, you're great Developer!
I will try...
Thanks Robin
But so far not solved the problem of Arabic language support
Example
مرحبا .... م ر ح ب ا

cool job man! but my GPRS doesn't connect! it was working before upgrading to this version! i was using 10/07/2011 r134++ with updates...
for those which gprs and wifi is not working, have you placed the "update" folder at the root of your sdcard?
Thanks for r167!
All good, only i noticed high drain of battery here (up to 240mA instead ~150 earlier).
-----
Planned to fix audio in the headset (now there is no stereo)?
Thank you!
The software is working, just I still having bluetooth problem.
Keep up the good work!
Tks for the great works
1. the battery works better
2. it seems that FM works sometimes, making sounds at least, and change to another channel automatic, hope it would be fixed soon.
3. headset is working, but Audio is mono
4. some software can not be installed, like TTS Voice library
5. Echo problem on the other side when phoning in or out, while it's normal on my side.

its like the app 'dont touch my droid'. i like this ui better though, and it has a few more features.
really like this app, works great.....thanks for sharing....
Thanks, I had an app like this for one of my Nokias. I know I will enjoy it.
Hello all,
I am trying to figure out 3 comments in market stating that Jolt is not working in sleep mode. So if anyone wants to help please just post here or pm me your device, rom and whether jolt is working or not in sleep / standby mode. If it is not working a logcat copy would be very helpful.
So far I have tested it and it is working for sure on the following devices:
Desire (stock rom, oxygen, devnul), Desire S, Wildfire, SE x10 Mini, Galaxy Tab
Three comments in market suggest that it might not work in sleep mode on:
Evo 4G (CM7), Atrix 4G and ZTE Blade.
Thanks,
George
PS. Version 1.3.5 is coming soon with new feature of choosing arming delay.
New Version is out:
I have just uploaded a new version to the market:
The main new features are:
New option to pause alarm during incoming calls
Option to work in sleep mode removed as this now always on
New slider to select activation delay
Better support for some devices that had problem working in sleep mode
Added a simple activation countdown
Most phones should now work in sleep / standby mode. Unfortunetely a few will still turn off accelerometer when the screen goes off. Please report to me your device and android verion if you have such a phone.
Thanks for your support,
George
Minor Update
Thanks to MobileWon I' ve discovered an IntentReceiver leak. Update is available on market.
Thanks all for your feedback
PS. You can find tips on facebook Jolt page

The new boot animation is AWESOME ^^
Just copied the files, first boot on the way, will report back soon with my findings
Great work guys, I might just hang on to this phone a little longer now..
Thx a lot Robin and all the devs, this release is awesome!
My phone hardly consumed anything over night, this is great!
Boot animation rocks

I want to confirm with this release Speed is better, battery is better,
but, there is something I want to report
1. Camera work with snapshot, however there s not button to capture so we must long press for camera to auto focus and capture. A button on screen to capture is a must (the message is "press the optical trackball to capture with I know there s no trackball for our photon)
2. Problem is similar for video capturing, however It s more severe because there s no way to capture video with long press
3. Youtube still not work correctly, I hear the sound but there is no image and after that I can not turn the sound off even youtube has been force close.
4. Advertising issue, most custom android has a good host file to prevent ad, I attached a good host file here and it prevent 99% ad we get on android, that help apps run faster

R 169
Really good release thanks to all developers who are working on it. It's really useable. Android running really smooth I think it's faster than previous releases. Also second boot was fast about ~ 25 seconds.
3G/EDGE/GPRS: Working (Very stable.)
Battery: Working (Consuption is between 3-10 mA in suspend mode.)
Boot Animation: Beatiful
Camera: Working
GPS: Working (Also change of GPS zone for faster GPS tracking.)
Time: Working (I didn't notice any shifts after 3 hours of using. Even in sleep mode no shifts.)
G sensor: Working
L Sensor: Working
Touch Screen: Working
USB: Working (Through Droid Explorer.)
Other stuff like Charging and Wi-Fi I'll try later.

Hi there,
Everything is working fine; great job!!! Owesome.
But.... the only thing is that 3G is still nog working. After the fix (and before) it says that the com.android.phone process is unexpectically stopt.
Giving in a pin will result in functioning only for a few seconds and than again the same issue.
Do you have a solution Robin?
Thanks a lot!
Hi All,
I can't post on Sean's thread since I am a new guy...
Well - I have flashed custom rom from Sean's - seanzscreams :good: (SKy JB 1/10/12) and it's great - thank you for the great work,
Few issues I did found :
When using a car charger the phone gets really really hot...
The BT bug (cyanogen's 10 known) and I tested 4.4 fix which seems to work for me - although after 4.4 fix - my in call audio was routed to the speaker...??? Maybe there is something in the thread there - I should check...
I use an application which is called Peak stocks to follow on stocks - and it does not show the graph for some reason... (it was working fine on stock rom and on sky ICS)
also - I am missing the Stock voice SW from Samsung (which is actually Vlingo based,,,) it was working great rather than the voice commander used currently which is not recognizing my English very well...
The home screen shortcut edit does nםt work after you save - I tried adding a direct dial shortcut and it wasn't showing...
The phone responsiveness is quite good, personally I set the touch sensivity to 100%.
Missing also is the contact join function from various accounts like Skype, Google, whatsapp etc...
Overall for a development ROM it is very solid and good
Thanks for a great work on Skyrocket Jelly Bean
When pressing the Back button from the dialer - it will not go back to the main screen.
Had I was able to post my finding there I would have...

The graph that was not showing is now visible on peak stocks - to fix that I had to disable the "Force 2D apps to use GPU" under developer tab.
it now works
it might indicate something with the GPU processing on CM10?
Updates after 24 hours
Well,
It has been almost 24 hrs of use,
I put the phone on silent using "quiet mode".
Left it alone at 93% battery,
After 5 hours of non use - the battery was at 37%, wifi was on. screen was off.
Will keep on posting.

After making a clean install on SKY-JB 5.0 base and its update -
Battery life has improved - I got 16 hrs and 6% left, while playing temple-run syncing emails, and using the screen (35%)
1080p playback is still having color issues
There is an issue with the sensors - sometimes they hang (temple run...)
I'll try the new update...

Hi Guys,
Yesterday I had a strange thing on the phone -
I plugged it into the usb cable I've been using to connect it to both Charger and PC, after a few min I started smelling something is burning...
I touched the phone and it was so hot - discennected the charger immidiately, then noticed the cable was melted, also small damage to the usb surrounding on the phone
I had to clean the contactors and replace the USB cable - now it seems o.k - Watch out...
Changed Kernel???

Hi,
an update on battery life -
Charged the phone using USB (from PC) to 100%.
Left it alone using Ondemand CPU governer for the night.
No Calls, Wifi was left on, Sync on.
I got ~18.5 hrs until it went down to 7%.

Hello everyone!
I was searching for a connectivity (3G/Wifi) manager that will allow to save some juice without sacrificing my habits.
I couldn't find something that fulfilled exactly my needs so as a curious IT engineer I decided to develop my first android application.
CleverConnectivity is an application that helps you to manage your data and wifi connection in order to save battery.
NO ROOT IS NEEDED.
How does CleverConnectivity work?
This application will automatically turn on and off connectivity (data/wifi/sync) while screen is OFF.
For example if the user chooses below configuration:
Time On: 2min
Time On Next Check: 1min
Time Off: 10m
Usage check Interval: 3s
Once the screen is OFF, CleverConnectivity will keep connectivity alive for 2min. Then it will check if data is used during a period of 3s.
If data is used, connectivity will be kept for 1 minute (Time On Next Check).
If data is NOT used, connectivity will be desactivated for 10min. After this, the connectivity will be re-activated and Time On will kick in.
Once screen is ON, connectivity will be automatically re-enabled.

How does this CleverConnectivity is different from its concurrents:
- You can turn on/off connectivity (wifi/data/sync) everywhere in the system (settings, toggles on notification bar...) and will be taken into consideration by CleverConnectivity
- CleverConnectivity can check data usage before disable it. Therefore your downloads/streaming won't be stopped
- It's very lightweight and efficient. You just have to install it and configure it and then forget it. It will do it work silently and efficiently.
- It's free! It contains all features of the paid version. The only difference is the presence of ads. If you want to support me, then you can buy the no ads version.

GOoD App
Giving this a try to see if it gets even more life out of my nexus 4. Thanks and good work! I'll drop a review on the Play Store after some evaluation time.
I thought this is the app that I've been looking for.
I'll try your app, and I'll buy the paid version to support you if this app exactly the same what I searching for.
Thanks.

So is there a way to 'start' this app or it automatically runs when installed on the phone?

Could this be the solution to the Achilles' heel of Wi-Fi calling? Going out of hotspot range drops the call... would this app allow a soft handover to 3G? The carriers will LOVE you...
Can one just use the connectivity timer On/Off settings (for turning data and wifi off during the night) and ignore all the other settings? Not checking them? If so, what would one put in the "time on", "time off" and "usage check interval" fields? Thanks
I dunno who wrote the description on the XDA front page, but from what I see the functionality of this app is not exactly what's indicated there imho.
Ask any smartphone or tablet user how would their life be without Internet access, and the answer would certainly not be a happy one in most cases. We use these devices to stay connected to the rest of the world using WiFi wherever and cellular data. However, switching between these two can become a hassle, especially if you are frequently moving around between WiFi coverage areas and areas where you must switch to your data connection. Frustrated with this issue, XDA Forum Member gyagapen decided to build his first Android app to address this problem, and shared the fruit of his labor with us in form of CleverConnectivity.
The app intelligently manages switching between both your WiFi and 3G data connections as you move about, but that’s not all. The killer feature of the app is that it also makes sure your ongoing downloads and media streams aren’t interrupted due to the switching! And guess what? This is only the start of the list of features boasted by the app.
The app is available as both a fully functional but ad-supported free version, and an ad-free paid version. You can find more details, the complete feature list, and the Play Store links in the forum thread.

What?
I see it say 3g,but does it work on 4g as well?
Testing it on my Note. Sounds like a very useful app.
The paid app version is down. It's not that the URL is bad, it looks like it has been pulled from the server. I clicked the link from the play store on the free app version and got the same thing

If you don't want the app to check data usage before turning off connectivity, just input 0 to the usage check interval.
If you want to keep Wi-Fi and data off during the night, you can check only the sleep hours checkbox and leave all the others checkbox unchecked. It should work. The timers values are only use for Wi-Fi manager and data manager, so you can input any values if you don't use them.

My app only disable wifi if your are away from known networks for too long (Auto-Wifi Off), but it won't reconnect when you are back to wifi coverage (I think checking this will consume too much battery).
However, all the part about checking data usage is exact.

It should also work with 4g, but as I don't have a 4g capable phone I can't test, please report here if you have any issue.
Hi,
Your application seems to be nice!
I've installed it on my Galaxy Ace 2 without problem to see more about it.
I've a couple of question:
1 Have you an idea of the battery consumption gain with this application ?
2 There is in the application a log running continuously. Is it for debugging purpose ? is it possible to disable it ?
Thanks for your efforts
Best regards
A quick question,
My phone is quite data-active in the background. Many times I need to keep data on for incoming email or some syncing such as a few songs from my Subsonic server. Is there a function to switch 3G/2G instead of turning it off?

Hi,
Thanks for your feedback, please find below answers to your question:
1) I have monitored battery consumption with battery monitor widget.
Here are my results for the night
Here it's for the day
2) I have still some work to do with logs. I will add an option to disable them.
Regards.

Nothing wrong with your app, but the guy who wrote that post certainly has some comprehension problems.
It's written as if your app can handle switching of networks mid downloads. Oh well....

Instaled on N 7000
Excelent Rom.. but same problems with battery.
I saw also a lot of people encounter battery problems with this rom: meaning the battery will report to be fully charged and after a some time when the level down to 20-30% the phone not respond or shout down and never up. after connected the charger will say to be 1%. Also when turning off the device, which has its battery completely drained and then gently touching the power button in order to see whether it is charging > it will say the battery is already on 30%... I have tried this with two different batteries...
