[Q] Plastic USB Cover on Dock - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The little plastic cover over the USB port on the dock - has anyone have problems w/ it? It comes out only partially and it is very hard to insert the USB connector. It feels like the plastic part will snap off eventually from use...

Yeah, It's annoying. But it's just a dustshield. I have the same problem on the Slate too, but even worse.

Droid X Car Dock Works

Man, this dock is versatile! Worked with the G2 as well.
You have to take the fitting off that is just snapped in place, remove the 4 screws holding it together, remove the USB plug (sorry, no charging here) then put it all back together. There is a piece of plastic that protrudes, but the phone still fits. I snapped the plastic off so it would sit a little more even and maybe keep from scratching, but it works just fine! Snug fit and doesn't feel like it's going to drop out even if placed sideways.
Sorry, no pics, but it would just be a shot of the phone in the dock and the dock itself. No real modifications are necessary other than removing USB.

[Q] Anyone know of a good thin protective tape for ribbon cables?

I have 3 xperia plays all seem to have the same problem with the flex ribbon cable being broken, I fixed one and added some sticktape to the cable where it wears against the case on the slide part. I dont think this was the best idea tho, the slide is now not as smooth and im thinking the tape will wear throught and become tacky.
Does anyone know of any good thin protective tape or similar for this ribbon cable? Im putting this in general because Im sure there some other slide phones which might have this problem, or a solution.

sw2 usb cover ....poor design flaw?

removed the small usb cover today on my sw2 to charge, have unfortunately found that it is now built in two pieces, the black flap with the usb logo and a thin rubbery back glued on. well, not glued on well enough, the flap came off and left the plug still inserted into the usb port.
only way to get the plug out was to put a very small dab of superglue on the plug, and (try) to glue the flap back on. managed to get the plug out again, but have made sure it wasn't pushed in fully this time, as it is nigh on pretty difficult to remove without the little black finger pull flap attached.
only have the watch 3 days. impressed by the features, very disappointed by this.

Dents on plastic around the microusb port

After attaching few times the usb cable to the Nexus 5, I noticed two dents on the plastic on top of the microusb port.
The Nexus 5 usb cable has two big metal teeth on the microusb connector and they are cutting into the soft plastic around the microusb port.
I am worried that after a while the plastic will be complete gone and the connection will get loose.
This never happened to me with any other phone I had!
Do you have a similar problem?
Thanks!
Now might be a good time to consider a wireless charger -- that would help decrease the number of times you plug a USB cable into the phone.
Mine in fine
My phone is fine, i use microusb and plug it in once a day at night.
Though small dents around the microusb port can happen on any phone really if you're not careful
Sounds like you need to be more gentle when plugging it in
or buy a wireless charger.
I've just noticed mine also has very small marks too, very small though. I agree that its time to invest in a wireless charger.

Yep, I have 3 nicks, plus my nexus 5 is brand new. Is your model black or white?

[SOLVED] Oneplus 6 USB-C Port Loose

Hi,
I've got my OnePlus 6 for 6 months and USB type C became loose. When I plug in original OnePlus 6 cable It just sticks rather fine, you can wiggle it for a little in a port. But sometimes when you move it slightly to the right Fast Charging changes into Regular Charging. But the best part comes when I try other cables than stock one. When I plug in non stock cable it charges fine (regular charge) but when you move it slightly it just pops out on its own. Additionally sometimes it pops out from its own after some time of charging. When I plug it in into a computer, phone just charges so I have to bend it to the right for OnePlus to pick up USB connection (Stock one works fine).
I'm worried, because stock cable is becoming loose too.
I've never charged it in my bag, pocket, etc. Just laying on a flat surface without any cable bending.
I'm worried that OnePlus 6 has low quality connector (Cuz it's not normal to start failing after 6 months). I can repair it on my own by buying new port, but It shouldn't be the case with new half year flagship phone
Cables tested:
Stock OP Cable
2x Unitek USB-C 1.0m
Skross USB-C 1.0m
(They work and stick great to other phones with USB-C cables (Testd on Oneplus 5t and Huawei p20 pro so it's problem with Oneplus 6 Port).
Do you have similar problems? Or should I just return my OP6?
No issues here, don't do it yourself. Send in for repair.
Maybe there are some dirt and dust inside or the pocket things, try to clean is with a toothpick or something non metal
I'm suffering from the same issue. Cleaned it out as best as I could and seems a bit better, but loose nonetheless.
Okay, fixed it
Checked again USB-C port (I was cleaning it recently, like 2 ago) aaaannddd while in fact both sides of USB-C port were clean (I mean sides separated with this thin inside connector thingy) , but in a very bright light I saw that places where are curves were gunked up badly.
It was a little pain in the *** to remove dirt and dust from curves, because there's no much room there (Was using flat, plastic toothpick which fortunately could flex into this spot)
And cleaned the curves
Now for the very first time all of my USB-C Cables clip nicely into the port and stick in very hard (Now I kinda have problem to plug out cable XD).
Thank you all for your support! I think we can close thread now.
Protip for future: Check curves in the port in a very bright light
I know this is old, but it came up at the and I thought I'd chime in. I spent 30 minutes+ removing the lint which was compressed very deeply in my OP6. That's the problem, it's so compact it's almost solid.
You need to (carefully) shave a toothpick right down with a knife and a wooden board so it's as thin as you can get it. I also used a shaved plastic tooth flosser, as it had a little hook.
For satisfaction, I suggest putting that lint onto a surface so you can see the workings of a huge bundle appear, and understand what really happens.
Oh also, using a phone with a good camera/zoom and a torch also helps to see just how bad/excessive it looks. Or a magnifying glass and a torch.
