The Samsung Feeds & Updates widget was included in the rom I flashed. The rom is running Touch Wiz 3.
Can I install this from an apk?
I found this apk through a search but it didn't work, I tried dropping it in "/system/app" with root explorer and it wouldn't show in the list of widgets.

I realy love the MIUI's file manager
I have upload the system/app folder from MIUI rom if you want to take a look

I have put the miui file explorer in system/app, reboot, but when I start the app... force/close... :/
i was wondering the same
i know the fire&ice rom has the miui camera and music player built in, hopefully he'll be able to add more miui apps in other builds.
I installed the theme but since I use stock launcher, I don't like the way it sets up the toolbar.
Does anyone have the white/transparent-like Search widget for ICS 4.0? Thanks!
From the guys who made the ICS theme here on XDA, in attachment
It's a widget, put the apk in /system/app and reboot.
Greetz
I copied it to system/app and changed permission, reboot, but I only see the original search widget.. could you help me out?
I checked for all read (Owner, Group, Others) and write only for Owners. Execute is blank for all.
Do I have to rename the apk file?
works fine with me, did nothing but copied it

Nope it should work just like that... Permissions indeed are rw-r--r-- like all system apps.
It should pop up in the widgets list named "Google Search" and an empty (transparant) icon next to it. I'm using MV Rom with Go Launcher but I don't think that matters much

Weird....
So all you did was copy the apk (w/o renaming) to system/app, change permission and reboot?
I still see the Gingerbread Search Widget. Well, that's the only search widget I'm seeing now.
I have a stock launcher + CM7.1.0.1 + Trinity if that matters, unless we need a custom launcher?
Yes.
Maybe you should ask the fine folks who made it:

You need a root file explorer or ADB to navigate there.

it is in the Market Tiwiz ICS Search Bar that does not work for me :-(
there is another that work fine... Custom ICS Search Widget
retired now from the Market, do not know why???? If somebody has one and post it here thanks...
Why don't you just use an ICS ROM and get the real thing ? Alternatively there a bunch of them on the market, especially with GO! Launcher themes. Do a quick Market search

For those that don't know, try changing the owner of the APK to "root - 0" for both owner and group, using Root Explorer, as well as changing the permissions to rw-r-r (read previous posts for instructions).
My first thread in this forum. Completely transparent widget extracted from another rom.
http://www.fileserve.com/file/2Qg75sB/SamsungWidget_WeatherClock.apk
Best way to install it is to get root explorer, go to system / apps and rename the existing SamsungWidget_WeatherClock.apk to SamsungWidget_WeatherClock.apk.bak as a backup in case you decide you want to go back to the stock widget. Now paste the downloaded file into the same location, go to the homescreen and add the widget. It should appear transparent.
Hope it helps.
Currently tested and working on cassies LA6 ultralight rom v8.
thanx working on LA4 deodexed too!
No, it works!
I tried to install it on XXLA4 (axlor4) and after rebooting, dragging the widget on my desktop displays an error message.

what error do you get? Also make sure the system / apps folder is writeable. Merely copying the file wont' cut it. I imagine you are rooted.
thanx very good
working fine on lb1. thx
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
works great on stock deodexed LA6.cheers buddy!
is it possible to remove the accuweather.com text? in 1x4 mode its making it look ugly.
Just FYI It doesn't work on LB2.
I've searched and I can't find it so I wonder it any one can help, I've just installed a Sense 4.0 ICS ROM but I really miss the default bokeh live wallpaper that came on the Desire by default, it was on the Sensation originally but it appears to have been dropped for the newest version of Sense. Does anyone know where I can get it for my newly updated Sensation?
I'm also looking for it... There's a bunch of bokeh look alike LWs but I want the original that came with my sensation.
If nobody has it would anyone know how to get it from old gingerbread Rom and port it to ics??
I use this one?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Urj5GW9AQF4
Thanks for the link but I'm a fan of the original... I managed to pull the apk from an ics rom running sense 3.6 the only problem is that on roms with sense 4 the apk doesn't install. Any ideas on how to get it to work?
Use Root Explorer or ES File Manager's root mode and push the apk to /system/app/
Then, change the permissions to match the permissions of all the other apks there, I believe it's RW R R, but just match it to the others. To change permissions in Root Explorer, hold your finger on the file and hit Permissions or whatever. Not sure if ES can do it, but it probably can.
After it's in /system/app and the permissions are edited, reboot and it should show up in the Live Wallpaper list.
Edit: If that doesn't work, look up the APK signer. https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwyLDEsImtlbGxpbndvb2Quemlwc2lnbmVyMiJd This is ZipSigner 2 and it works perfectly. Sign the APK, then try to install it using a file manager or something, you know, install it like normal. If it still doesn't install after being signed, use the method above and push it to /system/app and change the permissions, then it should run without issues.
I am using a theme that I downloaded from the theme store, however I wondering if there's any way to edit the downloaded theme. For example I am wanting to keep the stock touchwiz keyboard and still have everything else themed.

I would think you find the keyboard in secsettings2 or whatever file all the system core files are in from the stock theme, copy it and replace it with the themed keyboard apk, and don't forget to set permissions to rx-rx-r? That's my best bet. @SICKMADE ? Am I close?

There's an easy way around it. If you're applying theme from theme store, all you have to do is delete theme.input files
Any app that deletes .apk files, will work.
Example*
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...roid.optimizer
Just find the .apk and delete than reboot. profit
Hit the thanks button if I helped you out ?

Yeah I did something like that, after I found the file I added a .bak extention to the end making it a backup, rebooted, and I got my stock keyboard back.

All you have to do is use a root file manager like root browser then go into your data/app folder there you will find all the apps you have installed onto your device including every individual themed apk from whatever theme you downloaded and installed from Sammy theme store... if there is something that you don't like or want from a particular theme ie. Icons or keyboard just simply scroll until you see all the apps from the theme you installed and delete which ever themed app folder that you don't want. Hope that made some sense lol.
