My first Brick(TBD) - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been doing this since the g1 came out and last night I finally managed to get a device to not respond at all. I have an i9020a that I had rooted and flashed brainmaster's miui rom. Long story short I needed to return the phone due to poor call quality from my end. I flashed the nandroid backup and was stuck in airplane mode. Every rom I tried to flash would not take with e:verification errors or just plain aborts. I relocked and unlocked, and put 2.3.1 stock recovery back on with still no luck. Finally after all frustrations I went to odin. I loaded the files listed in the thread, APP[ODIN] thread, and once again it failed to load. I restarted the phone and tried again but it was late and when odin didn't respond I unplugged the usb which in return made the phone unresponsive. No power on, no recovery, no boot loader, and no download mode. I ordered a jig and am hoping wedensday when it comes in it will get me back to down load mode. I am hoping someone can help me find the correct files via odin for the i9020A. Thanks for reading, I have googled everything via i9020A and there are not many threads about this problem.

lot of views but no answers, i was shocked when I kept googling but no answers. Guess no one has had the problem I faced with the 9020a

well today I just took it back to best buy and said I woke up and it wouldn't turn on. Gave me another one, so time to root

Just saw this post. Glad they gave you a new phone with no issues. If I would have read this post earlier, I would have recommended Odin but obviously that didnt work for you. I would have been fresh out of suggestions!! Lol.

[Q] Yellow Triangle Help

I attempted to use Odin to return to stock, I followed directions, because I was having problems with the home button not working unless I'd reboot. I figured I'd take it into AT&T after testing stock to see if it was an issue with the rom. Anyway, for some reason Odin failed. I have used Odin before on my skyrocket and each time was a success so the .tar is legit. I have no clue what went wrong. How do I get past the yellow triangle to attempt again? All the posts I read they never say how they get a second chance just that they tried again and it worked. I took my battery out for 20 minutes and it went back to the triangle. I had no idea about kies firmware recovery since I'm an android noob so I don't have a recovery code or whatever and can't attempt samsung's way. Any ideas will be much appreciated.
Can you get into dload mode? OR CWM?

Ok figured it out and this is for anyone else who ends up in a similar situation. Download this file megaupload.com/?d=AQX73AN0 I'm assuming that its the emergency firmware recovery as it is only 10mb (I'm too new to post the full link so add the rest). I ran it through Odin and I accidently left F. Reset Time Checked along with Auto Reboot, glad it didn't make things worse not sure it was necessary, but hey it kicked my phone into recovery mode. Where I was able to run the stock .tar k0nane.info/rom/SGH-I727-UCKJ2-k0nane.7z (retrieved from another thread thank K0nane not me) and my phone is up and running again. I hope that I was able to help someone out at some point.
Finally was able to thank you for the quick response!
Well I like how you know the value of knowledge. And i always like getting thanked whenever i help to ppl.

[Q] Bricked my G2x...Last resort, please help!

Sooo it seems I have now bricked my beloved G2x. I have tried every recovery method on xda I can find (a few times), but still no luck.
I was trying to restore stock on my phone to catch the new OTA update, and it has failed...miserably.
Now, my phone gets to the little T-Mobile G2x splash screen and then reboots. I've tried NVflash'ing the firmware, I've tried kdz (which I absolutely cannot get to work right), I've tried sacrificing a chicken to the LG powers-that-be (okay, haven't tried that...YET), but nothing has worked.
Does anybody know of an absolute "unbrick" method?
Thanks in advance for the help!
Also, every now and then, the phone will actually make it to the initial "Touch the android to begin." screen, but my battery (which was 100% charged before this started) now says 0%, even when plugged in.
these links were in the first page of me searching "brick help"

I've tried those methods, and almost every other I could find. I've searched this forum for hours today before posting this, and no matter what I use, I get stuck in either a bootloop or i get a reboot after a minute of being booted. I've tried different recoveries, different ROMs, different flashing methods, and it all ends up the same way.
if you've actually tried things you might want to post exactly what you have tried what were the outcomes and so on and so on. I'm not going to assume what you have tried and assume what the process you did and where you might have messed up. I'm sure neither is anyone else. So unless you help me help you we together are not going to get anywhere.
To the best of my recollection, here's how it went down:
Started off with running Genesis v1 Beta 6.
Ran G2x batch clean up tool w/ CWM Touch
Flashed cyanogen_p999-ota.eng.feli.zip in CWM
* At this point my phone would not make it past more than 1 minute after booting. It would boot up, but after approx. 1 minute, it would reboot, no matter what I did w/ it. This happened several times
Wiped everything through CWM, flashed Genesis again (default install)
*Had same reboot issues listed above
Used NVFlash to push stock V21e firmware http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1248644
*After this, My phone would not make it past the "T-Mobile G2x with Google" splash screen. You would hear the T-mobile jingle, then the screen would "get stuck" for about one minute, and then the phone would reboot and go through the LG logos to the splash screen and repeat endlessly until I performed a battery pull
Restored stock recovery using NVFlash
*Did a reboot and suddenly saw the boot animation from Genesis!? Not sure how that happened, but it never made it past the boot animation
Ran G2x batch clean up again to try to "clean" the phone, and pushed the V21e firmware again
*Same boot problem
Flashed stock recovery again, then attempted to use KDZ. KDZ will continue to force close midway through the operation, and I cannot get it to work
Pushed V21e yet again
*Now it started making it to the initial set-up "Touch the android..." dialog. I could actually make it through this part, and then the phone would reboot again
*Somewhere in the middle of this, my battery went from reading 95%(The few times it would actually boot) to reading 0%. I wiped battery stats in CWM, but it didn't fix it. "Hey, maybe my battery actually died," I thought, so it's now on the wall charger, waiting for me to try to rescue it again.
I'm going to *attempt* to install a nandroid in CWM, and pray that it fixes things, but if that does not work, I'm at a complete loss

More info would be great!
If I were you, would give a shot of mansa_noob's clean up tool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1590523
It will reorganize your partitions. Then you just need to flash CWM recovery, then the stock ROM.
Edit:
Just saw your new post, wow that's interesting. I'm not too sure if the touch CWM has anything to do with it, how about to try the normal recovery version of the clean up tool, then maybe a different stock ROM?

the only thing I can think of will get me flamed lol, don't use those clean up tools unless it is a last resort! I can say I've never had an issue with just flashing after going through mounts and storage (data, system, cache) and wiping the main things.
The fact that the phone can be booted and it is showing images on the screen means you are not bricked. On the other hand, I've yet to read the issues you are describing, ever. You got quite mess on your hands.
KDZ is your best bet, what do you mean it just "continues to force close"

Tried CWM 5.0.2.0, also. I've tried both the stock ROM and the basic cyanogen ROM (Sorry, can't remember exactly where in the cycle those fell...I've repeated several steps several times)
Alright, so It's fixed! Thanks for the interest.
Just for the sake of somebody who (somehow) might have something similar, here's what fixed it....and be warned, this is QUITE unorthodox:
My phone was fully charged (turned off, showing the charged battery icon). I removed the battery, the SIM, and the SD card, and stuck my phone in the fridge for about 10 minutes...That's right, the fridge. I read somewhere that this may help when writing to the disk, and I figured "why not?"
I then pushed V21e using NVflash again, and, lo and behold, it works like a champ! Now just to get the latest OTA update, sit back, and wait for the latest and greatest ROMs to trickle down.
Also, sorry about the original post being kind of vague...It was posted after literal hours of searching and trying different things, and the frustration clouded my brain.
that is crazy lol, but glad something worked for you...

Hey buddy. I won't flame. You are absolutely right. I don't use the cleanup tool a lot either but then since my bluetooth issue is fixed I am slacking .
I am curious though why it did not work but will respond to op in a minute.

I am afraid if my theory is correct your flash (memory) may be going. The symptoms you have described and the fix you mention would suggest a data retention problem. If it breaks again (i hope that I am wrong and it won't) you may have to stick it in the fridge again but if that happens get rid of it fast!

Soft brick help

Hey guys, I somehow managed to soft brick my verizon GS3 this afternoon. I just need a little help in getting the thing back up and running and possibly an explanation on were I went wrong. I thought I had unlocked the bootloader and then rooted the phone. I managed to install TWRP 2.5.0.0 and do a backup. Then I installed a custom ROM and got the infamous "Software not authorized" message with the yellow triangle.
1st, is it possible to get this far with the bootloader still being locked??
2nd, If I understand correctly, I need to use ODIN to go back to stock and start over. Correct? Or is there another way to salvage this situation. If I have to go back to stock, can someone point me to the latest files? I've found links to a lot of different ones and I don't want to make a bad situation worse. BTW, I can't get into recovery but I can get into ODIN mode.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!
Ok, using ODIN, I was able to get a stock ROM onto the phone and get the thing booted. So essentially I'm back to square 1 and I still didn't figure out what I did wrong the first time around. Bummer Eh?

Yea, I soft bricked once and was able to boot into recovery by holding volume up, power, and home at the same time while the phone was off. I thanked my lucky stars I had a nandroid backup. I would make sure you unlocked the boot loader properly. When I first started rooting YouTube was great for instructions. I would post a link to a YouTube video but it won't allow me until I have ten posts, I swear some of these rules are retarded. Anyway search in YouTube having visual and audio guide helps a lot. good luck!

[Q] PLEASE HELP. Soft Bricked My Verizon Galaxy S4.

Someone please please help me. I am in desperate need of a solution. And before I lay out the issue I am having, I would like to thank everyone for taking their time to read through my post and give their input. I truly appreciate it everybody. Much much thanks.
Just as a disclaimer, I've looked all over the internet, everywhere I can possibly find for days on end, and none of what I found worked for me. It feels like I tried everything there could be, and that is why I am coming here. Again, thank you.
So here's a little background information: I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 (SCH-I545). I got the phone over the summer, and as soon as I received the phone I was updated to the apparently dreadful VRUMAE7 update. There afterwards, I tried rooting the phone. I've had rooting experience before with decent success, and never ran into problems like I did. It took awhile for me root my S4, but after awhile I was able to successfully root it. Although, I'm pretty sure I may have done something wrong. You will see why shortly.
So a week or two back, my S4 prompted me to update to the next update. I believe it was Android 4.3 (VRUEMJ7). I was very excited for the update and tried running it. But every time I accepted the update and tried updating, my phone went into Recovery to download the new update and stalled out with an error. Thereafter I would have to reboot the phone to get it working again. After failing to update multiple times, I realized that it is probably because I messed up my root. So without doing much research, I simply tried flashing the stock firmware that came with my phone thinking it should work pretty flawlessly.
I have a Mac OS, so using VmWare Fusion with Windows 7, I downloaded Odin and booted up my phone on Recovery mode, downloaded the stock VRUMAE7 firmware I found online, and began flashing. But Odin threw me a error, so I tried rebooting my phone thinking it would go back to normal. BUT this time, it kept going into recovery mode with a yellow Triangle saying firmware was installed incorrectly, etc. I was so frustrated at this point, thinking that I truly may have bricked my phone.
I began on this long journey of going through all the sources I could find online possible, downloading every type of Verizon S4 firmware I can find, trying every Odin method possible, and spending long long hours of the night biting my fingers at my dreadful fate. I even tried flashing the stock PIT File along with my stock firmware, to see if that would fix it. But no luck. I also tried using a standard windows machine rather than VMware, still with no luck.
I ask you all to please suggest any ideas, thoughts, or inputs you possibly can. I am willing to try anything and everything at this point. Please do help. I appreciate you guys reading through my lengthy question, sorry for that. Just wanted to lay everything out.
Thank you very very much.

Hi there,
it seems an easy problem but do it at your own risk I don't take responsibility of bricked device, etc
so lets go with what you need:
A- Odin [I believe you already have it]
B- stock rom go to this site:
androidayos.com/samsung-galaxy-s4-odin-stock-firmware/
and choose the suitable stock rom based on your Baseband version
C- Drivers installed for your device [if your mac/laptop recognizes your device then skip this step if not google it,download the drivers and install them]
IMPORTANT:Make sure you have 80% or more on battery
after you get these stuff install the device drivers as mentions in C then turn your device off and power it while holding volume up it should take you to download.now open odin and navigate it to the rom which you downloaded from B and flash it .wait for green color to appear and your back to your stock now it should open normally hope that I helped

[Q] Samsung Note 2 Verizon Bootloop and debug disabled

I am new to this forum in terms of posting but I have read a lot in the past. Three months ago I used this site to root my Samsung Note 2 on Verizon. I used Adam Outler's one step method to root the phone. I never downloaded any other ROMs or anything. I just used the root to delete Verizon programs. I ran across some issues with my screen and I was planning to send my phone back to Samsung since it is still under warranty. I unrooted the phone using "imnuts" instructions and everything went well. I then shut off the developer options since I was planning to send the phone back. The binary counter never changed from no and life was good. Later that day the phone ask to do an update with Verizon. I said ok and let the phone reboot. A few minutes later I looked at the phone and the Samsung Note 2 screen kept flashing and shutting down. I am unable to get into recovery mode (power+up volume+home). I am able to get into download mode but odin won't work since the debugger is off. Some people online say you can run odin without the debugger on but I don't think that is the case. I tried to run the "imnuts" Verizon stock but odin quickly says fail. I have read a lot of posts about similar issues but most of the replies were either telling the OP to recover or flash a recover. If my phone is dead I just want to hear that. If you have any ideas please let me know. If I send back to Samsung is this something they will fix? I don't know why it happened but it happened when the phone was back to stock. Any help you can provide would be great. Thanks.
This is the results I get from odin. When I unrooted my phone the first time (the time that it worked) it took about a minute to show the file in the pda section. When I do it now it instantly pops up. I'm thinking the ID COM isn't actually connecting to the phone sine debugging isn't active.
