I'm an app junkie. Free apps, paid apps, it doesn't matter. I love apps. I love useful apps, fun apps, games and books. I've downloaded and installed thousands upon thousands of apps starting from my G1 through my MT3G, Nexus One and now MT4G and many others in between. I've also purchased a whole lot of apps. Some simply to supports devs who are bettering the community. Others because I need them for daily use. I've purchased a ridiculous number of games and apps to amuse myself and my kids. So how many apps have you purchased? Do you prefer to use free apps? Vote above an leave a comment with your number.

Same here...love apps and I do what I can to support the devs. Going into the Market is like my birthday, every day.
If I like an app payed or not doesn't matter. But I usually try the free version first.
Always like to contribute to good apps and one i THINK i will use.
I don't really purchase apps, mostly all my apps are free.
I enjoy apps. I prefer the very useful ones like UltimateJuice (must have)... Root Explorer, Titanium Backup and ROM Manager (if it worked on my Epic, so they say)
I also love trying out different apps. Since Christmas I've bought crap for almost $200. If I like an app I'll always try to support the developer by buying the paid version.

I'm strict on apps, I only have like 15.

I can hold tons of apps on a 4GB SD Card.
I have probably spent 1000 bux or more on apps and use maybe 1/4 of them I need to slow down think maybe I have an adiction lol

I'm definitely for buying apps just to support the developers and to make developing for android a nice option for would-be developers.
Not that many apps purchased but I'm hitting the 40 range. Will still pay for more especially the tegra games once I get my hands on the Xoom wifi.
Seriously I don't get why people don't spend a little more on apps. An app costs like a cup of coffee. Every app you pay for, just cut back on a cuppa.
Of course I only spend on stuff I really use, at least for a couple of weeks.

Holy moly that's alot of apps!
Me on the other hand, I have about 100 apps of which about a dozen are purchased, not because I'm a sting or anything but why should I pay for them when I can get someone else to pay for them (tapping on ads in the app)
Just out of interest though, when I do click on an ad, how much goes to the dev on average?

I am not buying any apps, because market accepts creditcard only. Bad luck for developers.

Just counted via my apps list in the market and I got all the way up to 31. This also includes live wallpapers (I think I paid for 3 or 4 even though I never use them for more than a day at a time) and a handful of widgets. Way more than I thought though. Those are just the paid apps, not free.
The Android Market is growing every they with wonderful apps to choose from.

Interesting poll. Also, disappointing results - i cant believe 30% have only purchased 1-3 apps. As a development studio it saddens us that people with ultra-expensive smartphones are too miserly to spend a few bucks on really cool apps with interesting functionality.
Why don't you add the option 'None', because I'm so sure there are a lot of people who want a different payment method than creditcard.
6 - but this is mainly caused by the fact that I still use old G1 phone. I don't need most of paid utilities - free ones are enough. But I think I would buy a LOT of games if they would work on my device :-D
Also I like to pay for someone's work even if I don't have to. For example Star Traders RPG Elite gives you very little more than free version, but I have bought it to support its author
I paid for so many I can't remember >.<
Like the iPhone, when you jailbreak it, people who cracked the app can download it for free. Can we also do same?

Support your devs, apps and roms. You have no clue how much time goes into either, the least you can do is pay/donate for their hundreds of hours of work. Its possible but me/or probably anyone else that knows how to do it isnt gonna tell you. I've even donated to developers who do good work, and I'm a developer.
Nada broski. It's illegal and unethical.

sorry. guys...
Anyone immoral and unethical enough to crack and post "free" apps on the internet is also immoral and unethical enough to include a virus, steal your identity info, or anything else. One way or another, you end up paying for that kind of stuff. It is much cheaper and easier in the long run to support the developers so that they have the incentive to continue to develop.
God forbid you don't spend $.99-$5
Skip the Big Mac for one week and pay for your app.
Support the community.

the only place i used pirated software with apps is on my iPhone, but i would only try them for no more than a day and then i would choose to buy it or not due to the fact that theirs no refund policy with ios

When I got my first android phone almost 2 years ago, I [plead the fifth]. Within 20 minutes I felt so guilty that I immediately bought the app and donated an extra $10 to the developer. I don't understand how you can do such a thing, Android even lets you return the app if it wasn't what you were looking for!
Thread closed, this is illegal.
title says all
e.g. found Need for speed apk in the net. in the market i get: not compatible with ur device.
installed it and it worked. behaves like it should (i think )
it just asked the same ermissions like the original. could there be some malicious code in it, which doesnt care about permissions given? could there be malicios code at all?
if there would be malicious code in it which wants more permission, has it to start an extra install routine and ask for its permission seperatly?
just a bit wondered about getting an app priceless instead the ~ 4 eur it cost in the market. or is it usual to get pay4 apps for free in the net?
maybe this all sound weird to u but im a total android noob
thx for every answer!
It should be safe but you have to realize that whenever you download apks from any source other than the market (even here) you're taking a risk...you just have to decide if it's worth it.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA Premium App
so is it possible that an app can do more then it requests permissions?
or if an app dont request making calls even a malicios code inside cannot dial expencive numbers?
if malicious code wants to dial will there come an extra install routine with asking for making calls?
lets poitn it:
is mobileplanet-waryam.blogspot.com safe in general?
This is like asking if it is safe to download from the internet. But my opinion is that it is safe for you to load apk from the internet.
EA Games dont usually work when downloaded off the net, They need to be linked to the market to be able to load
It's called piracy and is illegal unless express permission by the publisher has been given.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
Yes, all pirated apk's brick your phone and void your warranty after 72 hours. Stay far away from these and buy your apps

Unless you're a kid who's parents won't let you buy apps, then don't pirate, it's pathetic.

Did you notice he said this game was impossible for him to download legally from the market?
I have this game too, as a warez too, what I find pathetic is companies that don't make compatibility for their games on the Sensation, or even more pathetic: they don't let us install from the market whille the game could work
=> In this case, it's the company's decision to lose money and force people to use warez.
I don't know for your country, but here, in france, it's even illegal for an official seller to refuse selling a working produce to a customer...(ex: a baker can't refuse to sell you bread saying "no, it's not for you", it's illegal)
I buy the apps that let me buy them. If no other possibility exist, if they refuse my money, I use warez too.
inb4 Thread Locked because talking about warez is against the forums rules....
Generally installing apps from places other than the market are safe, although there is always a chance you could be installing something that could harm your phone.
Yaa. Its safe...
So I got a $20 GooglePlay Certificate for Xmas but I have no idea what to use it for, being a rooted user and all. Should I just buy whatever and just have no discretion on the credit? or is there something specific I should use the credit on that can be useful even though I am rooted? I still use my Samsung Epic4g, but I'll be getting a Nexus 7 in about a week or so.
Any suggestions would be thankful.

Not quite sure what being rooted has to do with it... unless your implying that you simply use pirated apps. In which case here is a crazzy idea why not pay for some of those apps you stole.
If you don't mean that there are plenty of good paid apps for root users or just get pro versions of apps you use alot
Get Titanium Backup, its a great backup app for rooted users, it backs up apks, app data, etc.
Yeah as stated from above buy the pro version of apps that you like or if you don't necessarily want an application get a game GTA Vice City recently came out.

yeah, that is probably what I will end up doing. I don't have too many apps other than voodoo which is one that I purchased. I was just wondering what other beneficial cool apps are out there for rooted users that I could use other than the regular apps or non pro version apps I have already. I guess I would just upgrade some of the game apps I have currently. Really sorry for the confusion...
.
I want to develop a new rom that was like the old locket where people were paid to view ads on there phone. I want to start a new "locket" and rebrand it something new and keep it so that users can get paid to use it.
Send me a pm if you are wanting to get on this project and want to help we are also looking for other people to help recruit other companies will to pay to be in the app.
Thanks
