fix Crackle app blank screen - HTC Inspire 4G

If you have installed the Crackle movie app and get audio but no video here is the fix:
1. install root explorer app
2. select mount as R/W
3. browse to:
/data/data/com.gotv.crackle.handset/app_plugins/com.adobe.flashplayer/.macromedia/Flash_Player/config.data
4. remove ALL permissions on config.data
I recommend clearing data on the adobe flash player app too.
I hope I got the path right but similar info has been posted to get adobe flash to work for the web browser. I guess the whole idea is to find that config.data file under any app that uses flash (like Crackle) and remove permissions.

Hulu Tips
The trick for getting Hulu working is to do these things:
1) Use Either Dolphin Browser or SkyFire
2) In the browser, Settings...set User Agent to "Desktop"
3) In Advanced Settings set Plugins to "Always On"(Default is "on demand"))
4) Install either the Adobe flash player hacked apk or hexedit the libflashplayer.so file yourself. I had issues using the hacked apk, I just hexedited my own on the PC and moved it over. Instruction and hacked apk in first post of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=856318&highlight=hulu
5) Install AdFree from the marketplace
6) Delete/Rename the Host file in /system/etc (TNT Lite Builds)
7) Start AdFree, it will want to create the Host file. If it exists when you run it, it will hang and not complete the installation.
8) When AdFree comes up there is an option to "Revert" click this button to allow ads, Hulu needs this to work.
9) Reboot to clear the host cache.
10) Turn back on AdFree Host file restrictions if you like after you're done with the Hulu Goodness! Enjoy!
rooted?
Is there anything special that needs to be done in order to delete "system/etc/hosts" file? I am running TNT lite 2.4 with Cwm, and/\ have had superuser capabilities for everything else, I'm assuming it's not root related?
I did it - I can see the video but when clicked after waiting for a while to run I'm getting the "unfortunately Hulu is not supported on your platform...
Well it works, sort of. It played real nice until it reached a commercial. Then it paused for a few seconds and Dolphin crashed. Tried again and had no sound. Re-booted, tried again and it worked again. Haven't watched long enough to see if it crashes at the commercials again.
Full screen sort of worked. Had to disable the popup blocker in Dolphin. Then it played for a few seconds until the video froze. Still had sound, but frozen video.
I wish there was something not as touchy as flash too...
Update.. Made it past the commercials this time. Seems pretty touchy but it works...
thaigai - you can use root explorer to delete the hosts file. All the firmware distros get you to root. You will need root in order to access the /system/etc and the /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib directories.
jcarlospr - Unfortunately.... message is usually caused by either the User Agent is not set to "Desktop" or your libflashplayer.so is not set correctly.
Download this file, unzip it, and use Root Explorer to copy it into the /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib directory
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=K4C7N34D
You can use this with both the Folio 100 Adobe Flash apk and the GLES Optimized Flash apk. The GLES Optimized is linked in Roebeet's TNT Lite Thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842004
Copy the libflashplayer.so file after installing the Adobe Flash Player apk.

No luck!!!
But I also notice that I didn't have the /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib directory - so I create it myself - is that right??

That doesn't sound right. Try uninstalling your flash player and reinstalling with the new GLES optimized Flash apk, then copy the libflashplayer.so file. Like I mentioned I had issues with the hacked apk.

Ok, This is what I did
1. Re-downloaded Adobe Flash Player 10.1.12.1 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842004
2. Went to settings/Applications/downloaded applications and uninstall the Adobe Flash Palyer 10.1
3. Using ES File Explorer I put the adobe flash player 10.1.120.1.apk
4. Went to the data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib/ I renamed the libflashplayer.so that I got from http://www.megaupload.com/?d=K4C7N34D
5. Using the app App Installer I install the apk from step 3
6. Turn off the table after reboot I went back to the data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib/ and rename back the file.
7. Went to hulu using skyfire (first, I verified that the option selected by default is desktop).
8. I selected a video from hulu and after 30 seconds I got the unsupported message.
Something else, I created data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib/ directory because it was not there.
I am using TnT Lite V2.2.0

I don't see where you are doing the adfree part. I got it to work using the Flash apk that was already modded without having to play with the lib file.
My bad - for some reason is not letting me to delete the host file or even rename it and I don't have anything else open - I tried right after turning on the tablet

Are you trying to delete the host file with something like androot, or root explorer? The folder has to be set to read/write or it won't let you change it.

The hack original came form those that discovered it on the Nexus One Phones(rcgabriel thx for correction). It just edits what Adobe Flash Reports to the website the client using it, in this case it reports WIN instead of AND. So, I believe it would work for all mobile devices as long as they use a libflashplayer.so file as well. You might want to hexedit your particular libflashplayer.so file since it may be different from the one posted here. This apk is specific to the tegra2 devices.

Also make sure your firewall is not doing some kind of ad blocking either. Some firewalls like Untangle have a ad blocker or if you use OpenDNS, you might have problems also if you have the restrictions to block the ad sites. Anything that blocks ads might prevent hulu from showing you the video.
Strangely enough, I needed to delete the host in order to have the AdFree even get to the point where it gives me the option to "revert" or load the updated hosts file. I'm not sure if the hosts file itself was blocking things, or the hosts file had some permissions preventing AdFree from modifying it. Either way, using Root Explorer after making sure the directory is R/W and not R/O is probably the easiest route for deleting this file.

Minor historical correction - the hack originally came from the Nexus One forums. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=687842&page=3
Fancast works great without all the BS, hulu is a waste of time.

HOW-To [Hulu] with Flash 10.3 on Gingerbread update

Credit to bigrushdog for the modified file.
Although there are many ways to do this, I'm outlining just one method that worked for me to watch Hulu.com through a browser.
What you need:
1.Stock Gingerbread update
2.ROOT
3.Latest Adobe Flash 10.3 from the marketplace
4.Rootexplorer app or similar
5.A Browser with it's user agent set to "Desktop"
6.Modified libflashplayer.so
Let's get started:
1. Install/update Flash player 10.3 from the market and set it to never update.
2. Fire up Rootexplorer on your phone.
3. Tap the "Mount R/W" button.
4. Browse to /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib
5. Move libflashplayer.so to any backup folder of your choice
6. On your desktop (preferable), Grab "Flash 10.3.128.22 Hulu Modded" from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076612
7. The file name should be "Flash_10.3.185.22_Hulufied_BRDizzle_signed.zip" Open it and browse to \lib\armeabi-v7a
8. Extract libflashplayer.so and copy it to a temporary location on your phone (doesn't matter where at this point)
9. Now move libflashplayer.so to /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib folder of your phone.
10. Still in Rootexplorer - hold down on libflashplayer.so icon. Set the permissions by check-marking the following
User->Read Write Execute
Group->Read Execute
Others->Read Execute
11. Reboot your phone.
12. Open up DolphinHD browser and change the user agent to Desktop (menu->more->Settings->Dolphin settings->User Agent->Desktop)
13. Go to hulu.com and enjoy
Optional:
1. If you rather use the stock Android browser then follow these instructions http://lifehacker.com/5547037/change-the-user-agent-on-an-android-phone http://lifehacker.com/5547037/change-the-user-agent-on-an-android-phone
- Type "debug" in the address bar and hit "Go"
- Menu->More->Settings->Advanced->UAString->desktop
2. If you prefer to not use a browser at all then grab and install "hulu.apk" from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6888650&postcount=139

This app launches the Hulu.com sidebar page in a browser window. It will prevent your phone from sleeping and locking while the app is running.
This app is not affiliated with Hulu.com The Hulu logo is a trademark Hulu.com
6-25 Update: Should fix some issues people had with videos still playing in background.
11-30 Update: Exit button, allow orientation options, choose mobile or full website.

confused?
I some how I'm loosing you when I get to this part:
3. Tap the "Mount R/W" button.
4. Browse to /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib
I have super manager and do not know where or what the "mount R/W" button is or what is equal to it. What am I doing wrong? I would like to see if I can get HULU to work on my phone.
Well I have figured out how to mount R/W and stuff. I uninstalled the flash player and instaled the new one. But no luck getting it to work on hulu. I'll give it a shot later on.
Thanks
Eddie

Hulu from mobile Browser (no Hulu Plus)

I was looking around for a way to watch hulu content without having a hulu plus account. Many times I got Unsupported device even after setting my browser to desktop so i found this thread for accer http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1569816
For this to work you need root
Install instructions
1. download this modified libflashplayer.so
2. Then Copy downloaded file to the root of SDCARD
3. use any root exploring app (script manager, root explorer) and go to data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib and rename the libflashplayer.so to libflashplayer.so.bac
4. Then copy the libflashplayer.so saved to SDCARD to the location mentioned above.
5. Set the permission of the newly copied file to the same as the one you renamed
6. Exit the file manager and load www.hulu.com to your browser
note your browser has to be set to desktop mode and the stock browser did not work for me only dolphon HD, opera mobile and Maxthon Pad.
Any other site with mobile restriction should work good luck

[Q] Can't Find Music on Note??

I have some music files I copied to the "Music" directory of my Note. The stock player won't find them. They are all MP3 files. I downloaded a trial of PowerAmp and that won't find them either. I have the card (a 64GB) formatted as FAT32. If I use root explorer I can find and play them manually. Is there a music app I can download that will open and list them normally or am I doing something wrong? Thanks!
Silly question but did you put a .nomedia file into the directory these songs reside. If there is a .nomedia file then the music players won't see anything in there no matter what, neither will any other media app, video or pictures won't be found by their respective apps until you use a file explorer to oen them manually...
You may need to go to settings in your file manager and allow to see hidden files....

Thanks for your response!
Yes I saw when searching for a solution that some apps might install such a file but it's not there. I'm rooted and use Root Explorer and made sure that hidden files are viewable. Interesting also that RockPlayer does see and play the files. Any other suggestions? I did also use CWM recovery to clear the Davlik Cache, and also cleared data from media storage in app settings and rebooted without luck. Thanks.

[HowTo]Reset Stock Music Player Thumbnail Pictures

Requirements: Any file manager like ES File Explorer or Root explorer
1. Go to /sdcard/Android/data
2. Open com.android.providers.media package
3. Open albumthumbs
4. Delete the thumbnails.
5. Start the media player (Now Thumbnail cache will be re-created from scratch).
Remember the above is applicable to Stock Android Media Player HTC and can work on other phones too.
