There's not an accessible API yet for accessing the WiMax radio - thus no toggle outside of the settings page. I haven't looked through the updated wimax code for 2.3.5, but I'd guess they didn't add public methods accessible via reflection (and it's not in the API either at this point).
I installed minimalistic text, then created a widget that takes me directly to the 4g menu (where I can toggle it). I also have it display my batt life.

I just use anycut to make a shortcut to the 4G menu to toggle it on or off.

Hi people,
Recently went to the market, and I tried downloading Green Power. It claimed to be able to work with 2.3.3
However, I don't see it toggling 3G automatically.
Has anyone managed to get it working?

If you are connected to a wireless network the app doesn't use your data connection. Try running the app with your wireless off or turn off your router. You'll see it working then.

Huh I thought the main objective of the app is to turn off the 3G when its not in use?
What's the point of turning off the wifi or router?

I use an app called "Network Switcher" which seems to work well on my Nexus S

I got this yesterday it does switch off the 3g so I think its been working. Although there were a few times when I switch RH screen on and off too quickly that it takes 10 seconds o so before 3g comes back
So far its been good using greenpower can update later

The reason I said to turn off wifi/router was so he could see if the app was turning on/off his 3g connection properly; that being his question

Alright its been a few days and I can safely say that green power is working out awesome for me
If I just leave the phone alone it last a lot longer I'd estimate it to using around 10-20% battery judging by the percentage reported by the phone

What does that indicate?

Are you on wifi?
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA Premium App
Yeah. Is that what it indicates? Ha I'm sorry I was just wondering.

check mark means no mobile data, which could mean wifi on or mobile data off for some reason

Yes that's what it means. I had to call ATT to get it fixed because of my imei. Try turning mobile data on in settings.

I thought H plus a check below it meant that you were in an area where H+ is available to the user.

Patiently waiting for the fedex guy to deliver my Nexus s 4G, first thing I'm going to do is root it and plan to install CM7 Rom. But I was trying to find out if any of the nightly builds support 4G data yet, I ask this because I was reading up on a tutorial to install the CM7 Rom, but it mentioned that on the latest stable version of CM7, the 4g toggle doesn't work.
You could have asked this on the cm7 thread...................................................................................................................Yes 4g works, you just cannot use a toggle widget. You must go into settings and turn it on/off.

Is there a way to manually set to 3G only even with a 4G signal available?
There is an app in the market called phone info that will allow you to do this just set it to cdma(auto)
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Why use an app? I can set this in the Phone Settings menu!
Not in an hd maxx you can't
And dialing *#*#4636#*#* ? This opens it on all Android normally.
Yes that works but it's a lot easier to do in settings if it were only there! I assume you have the non-HD model?
Yes that is correct, I use the menu but my 4G battery is surprising
