I stumbled across this battery calibration technique while I was pondering this issue last night..
It states here (in step 1.2) that you must charge the battery to 100% (until the battery no longer receives a charge from the USB i.e. 0mA via Current Widget), and THEN wipe the battery stats. Seemed logical.. but did not work for me as the battery never reached 0mA.. as far as Current Widget is concerned, anyway.
New Method:
**DISABLE FASTBOOT**
1. Let the phone die out completely
2. Remove battery, reinsert, and plug in the USB (via outlet, NOT computer USB)
3. Allow the phone to generate a bit of charge (30-45 seconds MAX)
4. VolDown+Power and boot into Recovery.
5. Wipe the battery stats via the Advanced Options menu
6. Unplug the USB WHILE IN recovery
7. Reboot the phone to the Home Screen with USB still unplugged.
8. Once there, plug in the USB.
9. Let the battery charge to 100% (i.e. green LED), and all the way up until Current Widget reads "0mA". This is how you know the battery is FULLY charged. LEAVE THE PHONE ON WHILE IT CHARGES!!
10. POWER OFF the phone with USB still plugged in
11. Unplug the USB, then VolDown+Power and boot into Recovery
12. Perform a second stat-wipe
13. Reboot
By using this method, I noticed the following differences with my Sensation:
- More accurate "battery charging readings" via Battery Indicator (the % goes up incrementally and seems more "stable" while charging).
- Current Widget displays roughly 600mA-800mA while charging, then dies down to about 150-300mA as the charge reaches 100%, as it should.
Potential Fixes:
- The issue with Battery Indicator reading 100% for 15-20 minutes after being unplugged, then quickly shooting down roughly 7-9% per hour with general use
- The issue with rebooting the phone at, let's say, 50% battery power and having it read as 55-60% after it boots
- The issue with charging the phone to 100% (green LED), and having it drop to 99%, then back up to 100%
As of right now, I haven't been able to calibrate the battery to 100% accuracy, but it's much better than before. Will try more testing later on and post results.
For me, the biggest difference between the stock ROM and a dev ROM is that on a dev ROM my awake time is always at 100% and that drains my battery more than stock which doesn't keep the phone awake 100% of the time.
I've searched on this issue and asked many questions but people always tell me to wipe battery stats. I'm not really convinced that wiping battery stats will fix my awake issue.

I'm not sure what you mean by "awake issue", but the only thing that a stat-wipe will fix are the battery measurements. That may be a whole other issue right there.

Which dev rom were you using? 100% awake time is a real problem with the ROM.

After posting this, I installed Android Revolution HD to try to figure out what my issue was. On both InsertCoin and Android Revolution (the only 2 ROMs I've used other than stock), when checking my battery usage in Setup I would notice my awake time would be very high. One easy indication was when looking at the graph, the blue line would be solid all the way across - which shouldn't be. That meant the phone wasn't sleeping.
After some serious research, I've narrowed it down to the calendar which is causing the issue. The thing is, I think it may also have to do with one of the Facebook apps as well (in relation to the calendar). I always have Facebook set to not sync at all and HTC Facebook to sync once a day (max) and not sync any calendar items. In my Google account, I also disabled the calendar from syncing. Even turning off auto syncing all together would still result in the issue.
After removing my account from both Facebook apps and verifying Google isn't syncing my calendar, I see things are already a little better. I just charged to 100% in this configuration, so I'm going to do a bit more research before I continue posting about this. I wanted to start another post about it, but I need to gather more info before I do - the flames have been on high around here lately, so I'm not about to post up something before I get at least knee deep in some ish.

About how long after the phone decided it was charged (green light) did Current widget finally display 0mA? I'm still several hours after hitting 100%, and current widget still shows 5-15mA.
I might give this a try sometime as the inaccuracies in % battery display really bother me. Cheers!

Current widget and battery monitor widget never actually display 0 MA EVER. What I do is unplug it after the MA reading dips very low and then starts to go up again, about 3 hours max after the first green light

Yes. It is like that by design. It stops charging at around 95-98%. Its to prevent you from overcharging the battery.

This is a known issue. You can try and reset battery stats in cwm when your battery is charged and/or emptied. It works for some and not for others. I haven't noticed my battery lasting any less when my battery doesn't "charge" past 97%
There have been some discussion on this. I get about 97% myself. From what I've read you may get full charge if you let it drain all the way. I don't do that myself. Very happy with battery life as is.
I used to get 100% before I switched to the Vegan rom.

Either let it drain until it shuts off a few times and then charge it all the way up or if that doesn't work, use CWM to delete the battery stats when it's at 95% (full, with a GREEN light - not charging, with a red light) and then let it drain until it shuts off on it's own.
I did this a long time ago (delete the stats) and it's been perfect since. Charges to 100% and does indeed show battery at almost empty before it shuts off.
Good Luck.
Still no go here but it can get tom 96%... lol
I am sitting a 98% with VEGAn.
I am now having an issue where u can use the device, then I turn it off, and
turn it on the next morning and see about 5 to 10% of my battery was drained.
Confirmed Fix
Confirmed fix for me on Vegan 5.1. Letting battery drain down to zero and shutoff the tablet... reached 100% on next charge. Now the indicator charges to 100% every time.
tried this and still no luck . still get to 95-6% bugger
Vegan here..this is how I fixed it:
1) Drain it till it shuts off, try restarting it a few time to make sure its dead.
2) Once dead, plug it in, boot into clockworkx, and reset battery status (do this quickly)
3) restart, and leave plugged in idling till fully charged
4) use and enjoy a accurate battery level!!

You have to remember that in order to install some apps out there, you have to give them permission to use the internet and to interact with your device autonomously. I have found a few apps that were pulling my tablet out of sleep mode and turning on the wireless to download ads or other updates, and that (along with the length of time to shut back down) was affecting my battery life.
I would say to go back and review what you've installed, and to also check your screen timeout settings. Just doing that saved me quite a bit of overnight battery loss.

There has been much confusion and frustration surrounding our battery life and these custom roms. Some of us have great battery while others are having horrid problems.
I am writing this guide in the hopes it will help all of you with problems getting that great battery life.
This is a guide written from my own experience and technical understanding.
First, Your phone should drain, on average, 1% per hour or less while in standby mode (screen off). If you are not getting this average, you need to calibrate your battery.
ALWAYS flash a new rom with your phone at 100% battery - no exceptions!
i know some guides say to run battery down to 2% and then charge, but i never had much luck with this.
1) Before you flash your rom, charge your battery to 100% with the phone ON.
2) Once it says fully charged, turn the phone off and plug it in and wait for the on screen display to say 100% (this will take 5 to 10 min)
3) Turn the phone back on, and plug it in and charge till it says 100%
4) turn off the phone and charge again while off until the on screen battery indicator says 100% (again this will take 5 to 10 min)
5) repeat steps 1 thru 4 as many times as you feel comfortable, I recommend at least twice (I do it 3 times)
6) when you are satisfied with the charge, and the phone is still OFF with the indicator saying 100%, unplug the phone, remove the battery, and place the phone in download mode (hold vol down and plug into the PC)
7) flash your package (this is done in odin with the battery removed)
8) The first boot after the flash needs to be into Clockwork Recovery, wipe battery stats at this time (most roms will boot into recovery automatically, if not, boot into recovery manually)
9) after you have wiped your battery stats, wipe cache and other data (if the rom you are flashing requires this, if not, skip this step)
10) Boot the rom to the homescreen.
11) from this point on, you will use your phone like normal until the phone completely shuts off. this SHOULD take a while. you should see improved battery life during this stage. If not, dont panic, just run the battery down until the phone shuts off
12) once the phone shuts off (try to time this to happen at bedtime) plug the phone in and allow it to charge in the OFF position
13) once it is at 100% again, use the phone like normal and enjoy your new battery life.
IF YOU ARE DOING THIS WHILE NOT FLASHING A NEW ROM
Do steps 1-4 as many times as needed, I recommend at least twice, i do this 3 times
on the last charge up (your phone should be off while charging during this step) unplug the phone and boot directly into recovery and wipe battery stats. then proceed with the rest of the guide.
TO TEST THIS
charge to phone to 100%, try not to mess with it for an hour or so.. (light usage at most) you should still be at 100% or 99% after an hour. If you are at 95% or below, then the calibration has failed. (unless you have been using the phone or are in a very low to no signal area).
this calibration method is crucial to good battery life. Before I started doing this i was getting very bad battery life. Click on my username and look at my previous posts.. you will read about me *****ing badly about my battery, this is what I did and it has worked amazingly well.
I hope this helps
I combined a lot of techniques ive seen in other threads and some websites and then created this technique which seems to work really well.
I have used this technique and can confirm, it works well if done properly.

Are the first few steps what is referred to as "bump charging"?
I think this has worked quite well. I flashed Humble 1.2 (at 40% battery) last night, charged up, then started this procedure. After I got done, I took it off the charger and after 15 minutes of trying a new game, listening to a minute of music, and checking various things, I was still at 100%. i left it off, went to bed with wi-fi on, and woke up at 95%. Awesome. My all-day phone is back.

Just did this... 1 hour 15 mins. and still at 100% Sent two text messages out and played Words with Friends for a minute. Thanks!
Did this and it didn't work advice on what I am doing wrong I did the bump charge 2 times ran the phone down 100% and am now looking at 88 percent of next to no use after about an hour and a half of having the phone on.

For all of you that are getting the great life, what percentage does it list for display? This is under settings > about phone > battery use.
I'll have to try this method. My battery life is actually worse now after I tried doing the drain to 2% method. I'll report back with my observations.
Are we talking 3G or 4G here?
I would find it useful when people are talking about how good (or bad) their battery life is to know if they are in a 4G area and have 4G turned on, or are they using 3G only?
Trying to figure out how bad a hit 4G takes on my phone...
Thanks.

So I tried this out yesterday...I don't have a rooted phone so I could not wipe battery stats (does anyone know how to do this without rooting your phone?)...but I did follow steps 1-4 three times and I have gone 23 hours on my charge without having to plug it in. I am in a 4g area and had 4g and background services on for the full 23 hours. Had bluetooth, GPS, and wifi turned off. I sent a couple texts, used whatsapp to send texts, used google voice to send texts, made 3 phone calls (about 4 to 5 min each) played angry birds for about 20 min, played words with friends for 10 min, surfed the web on and off, was on tapatalk and browsing forums for about 20 min and I installed a new keyboard and web browser on my phone in those 23 hours.
I am very curious to know if this will improve battery life after that first initial bump charge.
If you do a regular charge after depleting the charge, do you still see improved battery life?

Yes. The phone will pull the necessary power for download mode and the Odin flash from the USB port. Just be sure to use a primary USB port (usually the ones on the back of the computer), rather than a hub, as the hub tends to cause problems.
Hey guys, is anyone else here experiencing the battery level going up when you restart the phone?
If my battery is at 70%, and I restart it, it'll be at 76% or even higher and remain that way for quite a while (remains a consistantly drain, not a single major drain in a short period of time)
This is something that's been happening since I was stock (Retail device from T-mobile store on launch date)
Here's some info:
-S-OFF using Revolutionary, and then later upgraded to 4.0.0.9 via terminal emulator
-Rooted stock (no rom uploaded)
-1900 mha Anker battery
-Battery stats wiped
-UncleSpoon's battery icon mod
even after all that, it'll still do it. So is it just me, or is everyone else experiencing this?
Yes, you have to re-calibrate your battery stats.
No, the CWM menu option to wipe battery stats is not right, for some reason.
Go get this free app: Battery Calibration
Charge your battery all the way up and let it sit charging for a few minutes after you see the light turn green (while turned on and booted up)
After it's been green for a few minutes, open this app and click the big "calibrate" button, and then un-plug it from the charger.
Let it run down until it turns itself off, without plugging it in. This means no usb to the computer, either - and don't turn it off manually.
After it turns itself off from lack of juice, plug it in (wait about 30 seconds) and then turn it back on. If you turn it on too quickly weird things may happen, depends on how depleted the battery is. (usually there is 1 or 2 % left so it's ok)
Leave it plugged in and turned on until fully charged. After that, you can feel free to play with it, but you should run it up and down a few more times without charging in-between. The first one is critical to do this way, though, or you are just wasting your time.
You MUST be rooted, or it will not work. (said for others who may need this info)
Tip to drain battery - screen brightness all the way up, screen to not turn off, and turn the flashlight app on. Leave it sit for a few hours.
Tip to charge quickly while on: Turn all wireless and data communication off, tap power button to turn screen off (keeping phone on)
Good luck, it'll solve the problem though.
I used battery calibration to wipe my battery stats (I did it in recovery on my 3G Slide, so I'm aware of that alternative method)..
I've let my stock battery get to 0% but that was pre-root.
After reading all the charging problems with the CWM, I was a bit afraid to attempt the 0% drain on the new Anker.
Are you running 4.0.0.9, and does it charge fine? I'd hate to deplete an Anker since I have no external battery charger.

Seriously, that's a good read.
I agree.
What I recommended was better then just wiping battery stats with CWM, but nowhere near as good as what Ace42 linked us up to.
I'd recommend reading those threads and doing that instead, I am more then happy to be corrected and shown a better way.
(FYI - I depleted a stock battery completely, both in CWM 4.0.0.8 and 4.0.0.9 to test the charging issue. You will always be able to charge it in the phone, even if you bring it completely to dead.
The idea that you can't is a myth, and was a concern until it was proven not to be true.)
I am using the Sensation on stock ROM..and about two weeks ago got a minor update to it (which provided the power saver option on the quick settings menu)..And since about a week now, my phone takes an elongated time to charge..previously, it took only about 2 hours to fully charge the phone, but now it takes more than 3 hours..plus, it takes only about 1.5 hours to charge from 0% to 80%, but afterwards, it takes more than another 1.5 hours to charge the remaining 20%..but after about 90% it literally stops charging further, no matter how long I keep the phone plugged to the charger..But when I restart the phone at that time, it indicates the battery level as 100%..
Does anyone else has the similar kind of problem? And can anyone please suggest me what to do? Is it a problem with my battery or is it a software issue? Please help me..
Thanks in advance..

Perhaps you need to reset the "stats" of the battery ?
Charge the device to full battery; let it keep charging until the battery says it is fully charged. Do not just wait until the light is green, it isn't always fully charged, causing a lot of inaccuracies. (You can check by going to: Settings » About device » Status » Battery Level = Full.)
Boot to recovery mode and delete the battery stats
NOTE: To have the most accurate of battery stats, reboot the device immediately after wiping the battery stats and wait for CyanogenMod to boot completely to the desktop. Once your entire boot is done and you have full access to the device, go ahead and pull the charger and continue with this troubleshooter.
Do not charge the device until after draining the battery completely, resulting in it automatically shutting off.
Recharge the device completely and then use as you normally would.

I am also facing almost same issues with battery. The phone charges very fast from 0% to around 75%. The remaining 75% to 100% takes a long time. But it does reach 100%. It doesnt stop before. And if I reboot the phone when charge is 80% or 90% it will immediately show 100% on reboot. So which value was correct? Before or after reboot?
Another thing is during the day when I am using the phone and the battery is at any particluar level for ex. 45%. And I reboot the phone for any reason. After rebooting the battery level is shown as increased to 50% or any other value. How does battery increase on rebooting the phone?
My theory is that HTC Sensation is unable to read battery level accurately and therefore such incorrect values are reported. BTW this happens on both the stock battery and my current Anker 1900mAh battery.
Hey mate, did this error started to occur after you updated your phone or was it there prior to the update as well?
This situation was there before the update too. Maybe some experts here will give their opinion on this.
Hi all,
There's this problem with my phone that everytime I charge it, it takes an elongated time to do so. This issue first emerged when I was on stock GB after a minor OTA update which added the power saver toggle to the quick settings menu..The problem is that it takes about 4-5 hours to fully charge the phone, and if I rebooted in the middle of charging when it's about 70% or 80%, it suddenly shows that the phone is fully charged, and the indicator becomes green! But afterwards the battery drains as quickly!
Now I have S-Off and using ARHD 6.6.3 ROM, but it seems the problem persists ..I wiped battery stats as soon as I flashed the ROM as well..Although it's not a problem I cannot live with, it's annoying enough when it happens.
Can someone please help me? And suggest me what to do?

its common thing...the battery calibration is not proper that's all...
also you need to wipe stats once you charge your phone to 100%
then battery will try to calibrate ...and after 3-4 full complete cycles (100-0 and 0-100)
the battery will settle..
the battery drain will be there ...whenever you flash a rom or flash a kernel....battery only settles atleast after 2 full cycles
EDIT: also download currentwidget from market..as the name says its a widget..so you will see it in widgets once you installed it...this will give you more proper reading of battery...when you plug your phone to charge...and when current widget reads 0mah then your battery is charged completely...(it might take a long time to read 0mah...but charge it until you see 0mah)..then wipe the battery stats...so after this battery calibration will be proper
Also the sudden jump of battery percentage is due to improper battery calibration
so dont worry you got no problem
So
I read somewhere that you are not supposed to let the phone go to zero because it could cause your phone to not power back on anymore..is this fact. I couldn't find where I read it to back and read again. Mine has been doing some weird things as well...the led turns green before it is 100% and it goes from 100% and drops to like 89% out of no where.

when i meant 100%-0% means until your phone turns off due to less power..it might not(or won't be) be 0% then
as i told you that kind of jumps are common ...in my case it went to 60% to 100% when i rebooted ...also the dropping used to be in large scale too
