i read some where that this phone doesnt have gorilla glass and I believe them now. I usually dont like screen protectors on my phone cuz its lowers the quality of the screen and ruins responsiveness. So I had one on my sensation but because of the curve I kept getting bubbles I took it off and from only puttin the phone in my dress shirts pocket only I've already gotten a scratch!!! WTF my g2x would be in pocket with keys and change and no issues this was babied and in less than 12 hours of no screen protector i noticed my first scratch, I mean its fairly small but im just very anal about my phone. Which is why ill be gettin another protector and why I believe this phone does not have gorilla glass. Anyone else have this issues?
I thought I read that the Sensation DOES have Gorilla Glass.
yup - was going bukkey nekkid until I went to wipe the screen and it has a tiny little scratch on it. Have no idea where it came from. Bought the Skinomi protector the same day. Still not using a case yet.

I've read that but the screen is less resilient than my N1 so far. I've pampered this thing and somehow it has a tiny scratch. If that's gorilla glass then I'm not impressed.

agreed! i thought it had gorilla glass, oh well the screen is pretty good for me, no screen protector nor case but i might get one soon in case
It does have gorilla glass. Also, I've been using it nekkid for a month and by cleaning it every week, my screen still looks new.
Edit: you can see that it has gorilla glass on cornings website.

if it is gorilla im not impressed none of my other phones scratched so easily i love going nekkid i honestly hate cases and screen protectors. How does the skimoni fit the screen? Do the curved glass give it any issues? I did check the cornings site and saw that it was, but idk this phones screen is made by two companies and I have a hunch that those made by sharp arent scratchin and those made by acer are.
Now that would suck to have the non-gorrilla glass version because you have the bad screen maker.
I bought a case and screen protector at Tmobile after receiving my phone by mail, because they sent a "1/2 off" accessories coupon in my bill, then it was 20% off in-store if you purchased both. So together they were like $22, came with 2 screen protectors. Have no idea how long one lasts.
I can assure you mine has gorilla glass, been amazed at how resilliant the screen is and how after month when I wipe it still looks bran new.
When i turn off my phone and the screens clean and I angle it at a light the screen looks kinda bumpy, my friend said this was the gorilla class. Either way its very good for me no scratches at all.
Oh and gorilla glass is an official spec from HTC, maybe you have faulty unit

Guys officially the Sensation has gorilla glass. Look here http://www.corninggorillaglass.com/products-with-gorilla/htc
Why would they lie about it there?
I have no screen protector and so far (touch wood) no scratches either.
It's not magic though, so keep it out of the washing machine...
Officially gorilla glass is more scratch resistant than normal glass, it's NOT scratch proof. I don't have screen protector, and am extremely careful with the screen, but I have a couple of tiny scratches, which are hard to see and don't bother me at all.

Always naked
My personal experience, this is my first time having a phone without screen protector, I have always been using a Full body shield protection but I decided to go bare all the way this time, it feels good.... from day 1 since the Sensation came out, never had a single scratch on the screen. I'm always careful about my phone though. just my experience.
Yep, as the link posted above shows, it DOES have it. But it's not scratch proof, it just has a higher scratch resistance.
Personally I don't use a screen protector. If you look after your phone, you shouldn't get any scratches
this isnt my first gorilla glass phone and im telling you guys it has now been 24 hours phone hasnt left my side has sat on my work desk and my shirt pocket with nothing else and i have even more scratches maybe mine is faulty. I really think that the differing screens might be the reason but a lot of people are reporting it and I promise you nothing touched this phone I have no idea in 24 hours its been scratched more then my 2g iphone, 3gs, hd2, mt4g, atrix, and g2x. Im thinkin bout going to tmobile but I know there is nothing they can do for me.
My phones have spent entirely too much time face down. Compared to my last phone (POS Feature phone)on which I could barely read the screen at the end of the contract, This new phone/GG screen is a godsend. my condolences to those who got gypped.

As far as i can comment... all of us have a habit of shifting fones once in 2 years to new ones.. So using a screen protector thats tested by ppl is advised as when u gonna sell out this toy for new one the first thing that will shatter the resale value will b the screen status...and as far as my xperience no probs with screen protector from day1 and got it from ebay many gud thin protectors available...."Precaution is always better"

I have skinomi on, no problem with curved glass as its wet application, it sticks to the glass perfectly. No issue with responsiveness either..works great. The microbubbles do not disappear quickly though, i had it for 2 weeks now and it still has 3 microbubbles left..it keeps getting smaller everyday though, it will soon disappear completely.
And you have to apply it in a dust free room, mine has some dust under the protector..little annoying when the screen is off.

Just wanted to post that i ordered some realook screen protectors from amazon and they work well with the 4g. They dont have the hole for the FFC so it will cover but to me, the camera doesnt have enough quality to notice. i took pics with the sp on and with the sp off and they look the same to me. Great sp and barely notice it is there.

Gorilla glass still scratches and chips... my vibrant is proof. Has a good chip and many scratches that you can actually feel as you move your finger over them... and that's just from normal day to day use.

Zagg created a set of covers for this (that are apparently slightly different than the T959 versions) last week. They are supposed to ship this week. The name they gave it is:
Samsung Galaxy S 4G SGH-T959V
I have not tried them on this phone, but am very happy with them on my wife's iPhone.
You may also want to try ProtectionFilms24 -- I have used them on my N900 and digital cameras with great success. Delivery to the US was generally within a week.
Update: Zagg just received their stock and shipped yesterday, March 10th.
I've taken keys to my SGS 4G screen... no scratches. Yeah I've only had it for a bit, but have you seen any of the Gorilla Glass demonstrations on youtube?

Maybe you didn't read the OPs responce... he had the vibrant (which has the same beloved "indestructible " gorilla glass of which you speak.... yet it somehow got scratches in the screen. Funny thing is despite this indestructible gorilla glass.... my vibrant also has many scratches from miss information that a screen protector is not needed.... I ensure you it is indeed needed. I just got some antiglares(not T-Mobile) and they are great. They apply easily and really reduce glare. The only problem is that they have a slight prism effect where you can see like tiny different colored crystals when the screen displays white or any semi bright color. Do any of the highend antiglares do that? I don't really mind the look but it sometimes really lowers the resolution of the screen.

Its scratch resistant yes, not scratch proof. However, I'll take my chances because I hate screen protectors.
Additionally, I had a G1 and never got a scratch on the screen either... but again it just depends on the situation.
hmmm
can anyone recommend one on ebay
If anyone is looking for a screen protector, check out best skins ever. They really are the best. I've tried zagg (gummy feel didn't like) tmobile (sucks) and a lot of ebay ones. The best skins ever screen protector doesn't attract fingerprints and grease at all and feels great. I honestly wouldn't notice it if I didn't put it on myself. I've put their protectors on all my devices. Best of all it's under 10 bucks! 6.99 for the front and 8.99 for the front and back. This isn't an ad if it sounds like one at all.. I'm just really happy with them.
I have the Zagg on my SGS4G but i prefer the Ghost Armour stuff myself. They just don't have any kiosks down here for me to get it.
And i don't trust myself to put them on plus if the place does it you get a lifetime warranty. So if it scratches or whatever they replace the SCREEN PROTECTOR. I had to be explained that they don't cover the device haha!
personally, i've always used zagg. i think that they do the job well. you have to wipe it down at least once a week because of the greasy buildup from your fingers, but to be honest, that it not really a problem. i have yet to scratch my screen and my phone has been through a lot. i would recommend zagg to anyone. the lifetime warranty is great and the fact that it is removable is even better. back when i used it for the vibrant, i just removed it and replaced it on the new one (i kept getting replacement phones because of GPS issues...even with the gps recovery app). if i stretched it or messed it up while moving to a new device, they replaced it no questions asked.

Not easily scratched.
The screen protector takes away from the beautiful viewing of the screen and (I don't care what anyone says) lessens the touch screen responsiveness.
I had a screen protector on my HD2 for a while, and have not been happier since removing it. And I've had Invisibleshield, BodyGuardz and BSG. They all lessen the experience. Since removing the screen protector on my HD2, I have not had a single scratch. And that's after 3 months or less with the screen protector on and 9 months or more with it off.
And what the HD2 has is not as good as what the Sensation will have in Gorilla Glass.
Don't use lame screen protectors man...
I used them on my HD2 like Darnell_Chat_TN for like 3months. Now almost 8 months later I still have 0 scratches on my naked HD2. You just need to look out if you put it in your pocket with keys etc.
I've got a Thunderbolt which is said to have gorilla glass, but some users are still reporting the glass to be getting scratched. There are some very clear screen protectors which you wont even notice on. I recommend you place a screen protector on. Realook is what I've got on mine.
Well I never knew it, but the HTC HD2 does have Gorilla Glass. No wonder the screen is so strong.
No screen protector for me and loving it . Now I know I won't use one on the Sensation after seeing the difference with my HD2!
I think the screen protector on my G2x is one reason I didn't see the brilliance of the IPS/LED screen as much as it was hyped. Had one on my Nexus One before I had the screen replaced for the first time (dust, still a problem).
My wife's Nexus One has endured a LOT of purse-abuse and doesn't really show it. It's amazing how people can scratch these modern screens in daily use.
look in this thread at the screen protectors link. i couldnt link directly as i dont have enough posts.

I am one of the people who likes to be extra careful. Besides, I've seen various types of damage inflicted on the supposedly scratchproof Gorilla Glass, and I just don't buy into the claims made by the company. More durable than conventional glass? Sure it is. Indestructible? Definitely not.
I'll definitely be slapping a screen protector on my Sensation.
+1 for a protector. I am over protective of my devices and it shows. I take the case and screen screen protector off and it's practically brand new.
I take such good care of my stuff that I have a regular clientele of friends and family who buy my old phones off me, because they tell me it's like buying the phone new.
Shouldn't be calling people lame for wanting to protect their stuff. Not everyone on these forums upgrades their phone every 6 months.
Has anyone got a screen protector on their Sensation? I'm just wondering if the bevelled screen effects it.
I use the Boxwave ClearTouch Crystal screen protector on my HD2. I tried about 4 other brands and the Boxwave works best for me. Screen is almost as vibrant with the screen protector as it is without one and the touch sensitivity is fine. It also seemed to be easier to install than the other protectors I tried.

well It is really hard to brake.
You can consider buying a nice sleeve for your phone .
It is in my opinion a better solution
What I mean : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ql37A-SgA3A
There is really no need for a screen protector. Care for your phone. It after all a remarkable peace of technology. Not just a toy.
Although I f you want a toy just get a Samsung.
100% Genuine plastic toy feeling.
bought a gel case with screen protector. the screen protector didnt fit. shame as the case is perfect. managed to drop phone on floor by accident outside. not a mark on the screen. will still get screen protector though.

I bought the HTC screen film however the sides around the screen as its kinda lipped up would not apply correctly (bubbled up). Remove this after a few days and found a desire protector, applied it successfully, however obviously its a bit short. bought a case from ebay and it came with a protector, which covers the screen but does not go all the way to the edge, stuck on well and no apparent "bubbles". its ok quality. case is ok silicon case
The other thing I like about the screen protector I have on my HD2 (Hence my preference for screen protectors, is that the matte finish cut down the reflections on the reflective screen. That and I'm a klutz!
What do you guys think? Are you putting one on yours anyways?
I will be using one

I will bet money on you not needing one. I've seen tons of people with banged up Motorola Droids and SGS phones, but not a single scratch on the screen.
I left the factory one on for now until I find one I like. People have said that the iPod/iPhone screens couldn't be scratched but I have found hair line scratches on my iPod Touch 4th gen screen .

Haha ! They're always 'careful' and still manange to do it lol.
I did some tests to my screen since its defective and they're sending me another one anyways. One test with a small slotted screwdriver & another with a military grade Rex Applegate Gerber combat folder. Neither of them left a mark with average pressure. Now in all fairness they wouldn't scratch real glass either.
The real trouble lies between a rock and hard place, literally.
Dirt and quartz sand WILL scratch anything. So while I would say its pretty safe from knives and screws and such Oh My ! It would probably be a good idea to slap something on it unless you are cool with it eventually showing some lines.
Gorilla glass is scratch resistant, not scratch proof. A heavy duty screen protector like a Zagg, Phantom Skinz, or BSE will give you good protection at the cost of responsiveness and looks. I personally don't dig the orange peel look, or feel. The last one I installed was by Real Look and it protects my screen (on my vibrant) but doesn't make the screen any less responsive. It may not offer the best protection but this screen doesn't need that much protection to begin with plus if installed properly you can't even tell that it's on there. I'm personally going to try my luck and go without one this time on the sensation. Just don't be fooled by some of these guys saying that it's unscratchable. It's still glass.
I would suggest you avoid the screen protectors that T-Mobile sells though - my first one was good for about a week. The Brando one on my Nexus One has lasted through at least a year of the same use. Unfortunately Brando doesn't list one for the Sensation yet.
I pay the $6 or $7/mo for insurance and I was case/coverless on my Vibrant for most of the past year (and it seemed much flimsy-er than this phone), so I think I'm gonna run commando on the Sensation as well.
Cases (especially the screen covers) are over priced and I kinda have my doubts as to how much 'protection' you are getting from them.
Plus, they are bulky and not as good looking as my 'naked' phone.
I had a Zagg screen protector on my Desire for almost a year, at first it was quite unpleasant to use (rubbery?!)compared to the glass-screen, but after a while it got more 'slippery' and better to use, but i peeled it of my Desire eventually because i got tired of the glue-alike compound that was sweating out of its edges.
Other than that i can say as much as if i were to buy a screen protector i would not hesitate buy another Zagg.
I don't know how hard a Gorilla glass screen is, but as a watchmaker i know that you can scratch everything in the right environment, like sand can contain fragments that are harder than Sapphire glass on wrist watches.

I'm using the MyTouch 4G (Glacier) ones from T-Mobile..
they're not cut to fit the exact screen, but rather a small section (found this unusual), but they stick, and they stick good, plus they reduce glare and such..
$17 for 2, but it's worth it..
by the way, steer clear of those $5 for 8 screen protectors or whatever on amazon, they feel like they're made from cellophane and fall off almost instantly in my pocket.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005B0JW6C/ref=oh_o01_s00_i00_details
I put one on two days ago. They're cut very well to fit, but they're hard to apply. Lots of bubbles, and one edge doesn't stick well.
I figured I'd give it a couple days, then try again with another, since I have five of them. Maybe I screwed up.
But after using it for a couple days, I don't think I will. It feels too... rubbery. It adds resistance when you slide your finger across the screen and I don't like it.
My HTC Tilt 2 (AT&T branded Touch Pro 2) actually came with a screen protector that was easy to apply, had no bubbles, left no residue and lasted almost two years before one corner began to peel. I was not gentle with this phone either.
If I could find the same kind of protector the Tilt 2 had, I'd buy it in a second, but it was just in the box with the phone. No idea if it was provided by AT&T, or HTC, nor who made it.
In my experience, bubbles are almost always caused by dust and lint in between the screen and protector. You can help prevent this by installing the protector on the screen after a hot shower, while the mirror is still foggy.
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using XDA App
Lint solution
Slightly off topic, but ...
If you apply the protector, and find that it has bubbles, because of lint, just pull the protector off and use a piece of scotch tape on the protector (sticky side to sticky side) and it will pull off the lint and dust. I've had great success with this in the past.
I've tried a couple of different brands and after using them both a couple of weeks each, I decided to do without. I do believe we have "gorilla glass" so I'm not really worried about scratches and such. Both protectors I tried felt odd and they both scratched extremely easily and they gave the screen a "fuzzy" appearance that I just didn't care for.
Yeah, a couple days after my last post, the screen protector came off. The bubbles definitely were not from lint, the factory plastic was still on the screen until I put the protector on. Maybe just poor quality?
Either way, now that I know the phone has Gorilla Glass, I'm not concerned.

I just got a MT4GS and I will try a new screen protector. On my last phone I used a protector from bestskinsever.com and it was good. It did the job and lasted a long time (over a year and a half before getting some junk under the edge of one corner...but it still didn't peel up and I kept using it for months until I got this phone). The only complaint is a bit of "orange peel" texture on it. My research has led me to bodyguardz.com and phantomskinz.com. People claim these two have less orange peel than the bse skins. I would say the bse is 8/10. I will try one of these 2 and report back.

I have the UltraTough Clear ScreenGuardz (Dry Apply) from bodyguardz. It is great. I can't even tell it is on there. Zero bubbles and zero orange peel. I even pulled it off after I put it on the first time because it was misaligned.
It had a couple big bubbles I couldn't squegee out, but they went away in a couple of days.
Anyone can recommend any good screen protectors at a good price? I don't mind paying extra for good quality. The verizon ones blow. Makes the screen look VERY pixelated. Trying to avoid purchasing a screen protecter like that.

Try searching the accessories forum about it, there are more than a few posts here about screen protectors

Yes you should make a search through the forum next time but since this thread is already up..
I highly recommend a ZAGG Invisible Shield screen protector. It costs a little more but its absolutely worth it. They have a model for each specific phone so the protector molds around the camera and corners perfectly. It comes with a whole method of putting it on so its smooth when you finish. Plus if you register the screen protector on their website you can pretty much get a replacement for free if anything happens to the protector which isn't likely but still (too scratched to see the screen or something), plus if that happens it peels right off so you can put another one on and the screen is good as new. But its pretty epically scratch resistant, you can check out vids on youtube or their website. I can't stand when my screens get scratched, so I've been using it for years, very happy customer. They sell them at best buy.
Thanks for heads up guys. Much appreciated

The Charge has Gorilla Glass and is very hard to scratch. Most of us recommend keeping it bare as a screen protector, no matter the quality, detracts from the picture quality slightly.

Use Skinomi, its a pain to put on but its the best and the clearest one I have ever used

These. They have great reviews. I am very happy with mine. Doing it's job well since July 2011. And it comes in a pack of 3 in case you mess up. And it comes with installation instructions. And, for giving them a good review, they offered to send me a pack of screen protectors free. So I got a pack of iPhone covers for my parents. Great company, great product
BTW if you mess up, soaking it in rubbing alcohol works great for removing dust and then you just try again and squeegee with a credit card.

It doesn't have gorilla glass. Saw it mentioned in a review.

It does have gorilla glass. When the phone originally came out it was on corninggorillaglass.com under products with gorilla glass. Now since it is old news it is off the site, but seeing as every major samsung phone is there like the GS, GSII, note, tab, and wp phones, I am sure the charge has it.

I do believe it does. I've had mine "naked" since I got it and no scratches.

Without screen protector, you droid Charge will get scratch. Already happened to my daughter's phone.
I have never managed to scratch a smartphone screen, Gorilla Glass or not, and I've had smartphones since the original iPhone. I hate screen protectors of all forms. I hate the way the look and the way they feel, so I've never used one for more than a few days. I don't think I'm particularly "gentle" on a phone...the only thing special I do is keep it in a pocket by itself. I've seen other people's phone of various builds covered in scratches, and I still don't understand how they get so scratched up.

Not true! my daughter kept her phone in a pocket book full of car keys, pens and jeweries and she scratched it.

Doesn't matter what type of glass it has, it can get scratched. And not having a screen protector doesn't mean it will get scratched either. The Charge does have Gorilla Glass, but I wouldn't go around testing it out to see how tough it is. Odds are there are minimum hardness specs that it needs to pass, so some pieces of glass are harder than others.
I had mine in my pocket with keys for a year, no scratches. the plastic is scratched to heck, but the glass remains unscathed.
the charge has gorilla glass making it very scratch/crack resistant. i havent had a screen protector the whole time ive had it, which is about 10 months and it still looks brand new. and trust me, ive dropped it my fair share of times, infact i just dropped it earlier today. had it in my sweater pocket while i was riding my bike and it just flat out fell screen first onto the concrete. not even 1 little scratch.
just dont bother with a screen protector, it looks so much better without one.
but if you really are hell bent on getting a screen protector i can recommend Zagg, i had the enV Touch before this phone for 2 years with a Zagg invishield on the whole time. it kinda got that "rainbow" effect from the grease/sweat on your hands but it was very durable and scratch resistant with a nice fit. overall a perfect screen protector for my needs.
So everyone brag about how tough the screen on the charge, how would you explain to me there are 3 scratches on my daughter phone, which forced me to buy a screen protector???? you all claimed it "UN SCRATCHABLE".
I think you're the only person who's used the word unscratchable, but I did imply that you have to be careless to scratch a glass smartphone screen. Keeping my phone in a pocket by itself, and no other protections, has protected my screens without a screen protector since the original iPhone in 2007. Yes, there are situations where a screen protector would make sense, but in those situations, I'd probably rather use a case/holster that completely covered the screen.
