[APP REQUEST] Launching record label, looking to old friends for support! - Android Apps and Games

Hey guys! It's been a long while, for some reason my post count is greatly reduced, but oh well, all you old timers probably remember me, lol.
Anyway, so here's the deal, I'm launching my record label, Syko Records, and I've been trying to think of creative ways to dominate the industry, being a no-name-up-and-comer I have to be innovative. Of course, I thought of all my genius pals here at XDA, and hope that maybe someone would be interested in volunteering their time for the cause.
I don't have any monetary compensation, but I'm sure we can work out something that benefits you for your time!
If anyone is interested in being a part of the next big movement in music, please let me know and lets get started!
Peace!
Ken

Oh come on, I know someone wants a chance to work with an indie record label! I hoped there would have been a better response!
Anyone!?

Lmao

Hahaha, well actually I'm always checking out artists, if you want to send me over a digital press kit I'll be more than happy to check it out, especially since you're an XDA buddy.
Send me a PM, and I'll shoot you an email to send some tracks to.

....testes one two three...testes one two three.....is THIS THING ON? lol j/k...

So seriously REALLY? There are no giving souls out there?

I'm no app developer yet but what exactly are you looking for? Ive been wanting to learn it for a while but haven't really found anything to create that hasn't already been done a million times. I'd love to help if you have enough time for me to learn as I go. Hit me up on gtalk: [email protected] if you're interested.

So what's up!? I'm not going to just let this die!
I encourage any developers interested in rap and hip hop to check out my website www.sykorecords.com.
You could be a part of something HUGE!

Not really helpful just pointing out one of the most Influential record companies around has a very similar name

Just incase you didn't know dunno just always remember a issue between microsoft and a guy named mike rowe and the website mikerowesoft

looking for an app dev

hey guys im trying to find someone to create an app, I have no idea how complicated it would be to do it but I am looking for an app simialer to strobox for the iphone. if I was smarter I might be able to understand the code so I could make it myself but I have bought and read several books on how to do it and just dont get it. if anyone wants or can help let me know.
I too have been craving this app since I got an android phone. This is way beyond my experience, but if someone makes it, I'll buy it.
it woldn't be OVERLY complicated...
This would be complicated for me, just because I don't have a clue what the hell it does even after looking at the website.
Not saying I can write it, looks like it would take a good bit of dev time.
Couple of weeks for anything work able.

It is an application for photographers that allows you to create lighting diagrams of strobe and camera placement in a scene for reference.

Well, If you find someone that could tackle the UI, I could work in the rules for you. I just wouldn't have a clue about what rules to use unless I was given them by someone who knows. That's over my head.

UI design or coding? I definitely couldn't do the coding, but the design maybe.
Oh yeah, the Strobox app is under a creative commons license, so the UI could probably be used as longs the the app stays under creative commons. Which, would probably restrict the app from being sold.
yes the dev put it under CC because she wanted to make sure that it was a free app that being said I would be more than happy to "DONATE" to anyone that could do this, and would be more than happy to help with the graphics aspect of it if someone can code it. The code is WAY over my head.
@bernard_photography: its nice to see someone else intrested in this. I have been trying to find a way to get ahold of the dev of strobox since I got my hero. I use speedlights a lot and it was a life saver for repeateability on location.
and the thing about it is that yeah you would have to make it a free app but if you where really looking to get into app dev this could really get your name out there just like it did for the strobox dev. I mean as soon as she released it it was all over ALL of the major photography blogs.
I'm in contact with the dev now to see what I can work out.

Saweet. I hope this comes together. My wife just got an iPod touch and the app is pretty sick.
Have you guys looked at this:
http://www.flickr.com/groups/strobist/discuss/72157624143703396/
Search "Photo Studio Buddy" in the market or scan his QR Code.
Wow, that saved me a lot of work! LOL.
The dev of StroBox pointed it out to me. She wasn't very willing to share her source...iPhone users...go figure.
Thanks, that works pretty well. It could use some work, but it is a start for sure. I appreciate your help.

Looking for a developer for a native Phish app.

Hello, I am an active member over on Phish.net, and lately, we have been looking for a developer to help develop a native Phish.net application. This will be a real app under the name Phish.net. Your help and expertise will be greatly appreciated.
I have been on this forum for a couple of months now with my Eris, rooting and all of that, so I said I would give it a try to see if anyone around here is interested. I know that there are a lot of amazing developers on this site.
Peace, and thanks,
Chris
I would love to see this app come to life! I was at the Cleveland show a week and a half ago and it was amazing.
What exactly do you mean by help? Like you need someone to develop it by himself? or that you already have some people working on it, just need more developers?
We are looking for someone to develop it. None of us on the site know how to do it, we just listen to a lot of music and talk about it. Ha...
And yeah man, Phish is great, and the site is amazing too. How long have you been listening to them?

I have been listening to them for years, but have only been to 3 shows. I think I am going to see them in Indy both nights. I am jealous of the iPhone Phish apps, can't wait to see them on Android! I am not a Dev (hardware guy) or I would gladly help out.
I fully approve of this thread!
still on my tp2, really considering an andriod device and probably would have just gone ahead and ordered it today if the phish app was already available with fall tour coming up!
I am sick of just listening the the livephish stream on my phone!

[RANT] Getting burned out...

[RANT]
I am trying my hardest to give back to the community that got me started in the first place...
But lately, I am burned out by the endless complains and repetitions of same questions / answers which I have already stated clearly in my OPs....
Anyways... going to take a break from all this for a while...
[/RANT]
all i can say is thanks for everything you have givin us!!! i love your work and the fact that you are so hands on with all of us, even the people that are too lazy to read and learn before they ask the same effin questions over and over again... but you have to remember, that you are doing this for free and take time for number 1, YOU!!! i have no complaints about a break from the nonestop dev'ing you have been giving to us, i will be looking forward to your comeback...
btw, did ya get my donation?
its all cool faux go take a break everyone needs one every once in a while to get some motivation back so thanks for all the goodness and block all the complainers out. they just whinny little kids anyways. if we could we would donate for vacation for you
No sweat, everybody needs some off time. Those complaints and repetitive questions are unfortunately unavoidable because not everyone here is as technically/technologically inclined as the rest. Those of us who are truly appreciate your work and will miss you until you come back.
Take your time. I love your kernels I can wait. To bad alot of people don't bother reading.

Faux, love all the work you do! Never had any issues with any of your kernels/ROMS and everything runs so smooth. Its understandable to take a break every once in a while to stay sane. Just dont over-do it and take a load off. Hope you enjoy your 'you time' and wish the best. Cant wait to see you back!
take a break Faux. Don't let it get to you
You deserve it. Thanks for the work you have done. Hope to see you back soon.

Kinda been expecting this. You were a machine.
If you don't come back I hope the work you put in helps you in future endeavors.
I'll broken record what everyone has already said....what you've done in the past month or so is insane, you def deserve a break. Thanks a ton for all your work.

I think the reasons you've already pointed out are why we loose some devs and others form groups. I think it's great that you've joined up with Team Royal, but at the same time I think the group may be taking on too much for it's size. What are there now six team royal roms? I don't know what things look like behind the scenes but that seems like a lot in such a short amount of time. At any rate you guys need a PR front man to take care of the *****ing and moaning and redundant questions while you do what the rest of us can't. Not that I'm volunteering, sorry I just can't spare the time.
Being a server at a restuarant I can kinda relate to this. The more tables your asigned to, the more your brain has to work lol, and also u kinda get stressed out because u have a person over here who complained about thier food and another here crying about not having enough ice in their soda lol. Even if your doing the best u can
you and team royal work hard no doubt about that, maybe their could be an option in the front page of each forum where the main questions about specific roms are already answerd. Idk just a thought
But mainly the brain does need rest at times!!!!!!!!! Especialy at a high level velocity u guys go on lol.... Devs are awesome, god bless

I have noticed that there are a lot of Dev's and others posting things here that they do for no other reason than to share. Sure a lot of people want recognition, but at the end of the day no one makes money off of this. That's what the Play Store is for.
I'm sure a lot of people would agree that it is very sad that you can't go through many release threads without somebody getting mad at someone else, and worse, getting mad at the guy/gal who spent hours making something which they then shared for FREE.
I'm not going to sit here and spew the same crap about how people should get along and all that; you have parents for that. I will simply say, "thank you" to all of the developers, modders, themers and anyone else who made an honest attempt to contribute. Before you get frustrated and down, remember that for every person who makes a fuss and angers you to the point of violence, there are at least 50 other users who appreciate your efforts. Thank you for contributing to the community.

Agree 100%. People act like they deserve ROMs, themes, mods, ect. You don't. The ROM makers do this for enjoyment. I'm 14 and have a ton of work to do and of course there's school drama. I use Android to get away from all of it. It feels good. Then people reprimand us about how the ROM sucks. It is not cool. I hope this forum gets ynder control fast.

I know you devs, & also the ones that port the roms work hard, & do your best to provide stable roms for all to enjoy. You do it basically for free and I would hope people like me, that use them, would simply say thank you. I will be honest, & let you all know that I am currently laid off from my job, and I can barely provide for my wife & son, therefore I have not been able to donate any money to help keep yalls moral up, but I hope that in the near future I can. But at the very least, I can say thank you for all you do. I have fun reading & learning from u guys, & as far as the people that complain...I wouldn't let it bother me if I were you, because there are A LOT more satisfied people than there are complaints!

Ahhhh! The joys of life
We all love to enjoy the work of others as if it were our own. It seems that as we use it ,we believe that it actually is ours {in my mind. Therefore to criticize is warranted and fair. [in my mind of course]. So don"t allow others to get to you. Developers do hard yet rewarding labor with mistakes , goofs, knowledge, and joys- provided that we who enjoy the fruits of their labor appreciate labor is involved and dissapointment is evident to them and us when problems arise. True joy is achieved when constructive comments lead to further development as well as real progress. If all were fired for goofs on the job all nations would be on the dole [if govts could afford it with no tax base]. Love your neighbor as yourself, especially in this case when he's working for free

oh im on that boat right now, it is difficult to begin into this whole development thing, i've been doing a lot of reading, coding samples on piece of paper, researching the forums for question that im sure were asked but most importantly as Saranhai said is the commitment, im down 100% to learn on my free time not only that but i do try, i really try hard to make this whole thing pay, i can modify apks, i already started creating themes for the theme engine in CM, my next step is theming a whole rom then after that i will learn how to compile from source, port and ultimately my goal is on the launcher, i would love to come up with a different UI as everyone else does at one point.
Sometimes people does not recognize the time you invest as a developer, i don't consider myself a developer as i do fairly basic things, probably my big mistake so far is not asking for help mainly because im afraid of rejection, i asked for help in the past (not on XDA but on another forum) and the dev just got his enjoyment to call me noob, rookie or every single word that is out there to just call me a novice after that i just decided to do not ask any questions and just learn by myself, yeah i have questions about many things and probably is better when someone with experience tells you what to do in case of errors but nothing like your own sacrifice.
i really hope this community gets better, as in any forum you will find people that is down to criticize your work in a good way so you can improve and then there are the a**holes who think you have to fix whatever error they have just because you have to.......Me? if you want an honest and constructive criticism i will tell you what's wrong and probably i wont tell you how to fix it as im fairly new into android development but i can do that, i can try your work and tell you whats wrong with it.

[APP] (2.2+) Fighting PTSD |05.APR.2013|

This is my first app so bare with me. This is an app for my blog about my struggles with combat PTSD and alcoholism. It is a free app. I am trying to get the word out about Soldiers and the struggles they return home too face. Just because they are home does not mean they are not still fighting a battle. Please check it out and give me feedback. I have been a member here for a while and have learned so much from this site so I figured I would post it on here. I did use a app creator site to design it but I am currently trying to learn to develop it from scratch. Thank you!

I have thats why I created the blog and app
Never been a soldier, not yet at least, but fully support your efforts. PTSD in vets is not really fully understood by the majority of civilians and there definitely need to be more positive outlets for those struggling. I would suggest perhaps also focusing on the families of vets suffering PTSD, addiction, etc. A strong support system clearly can help a lot and helping the family members understand it more might also be useful. In terms of just the app itself, you can tell its young but as you said you're learning so that's not a big deal. Just wanted to say keep up the good work and I appreciate everything you soldiers have done and continue to do.

Need a developer
My ability to concentrate is horrible so I am pretty sure its going to take me years to even make the simplest of apps from scratch. Plus I am a active duty Drill Sergeant so I have very little time. I wish Google wouldn't have quit supporting app inventor. Is anyone interested in helping me develop this app from the bottom up? There would be no profit. Any money made from ads or anything would go into a account I plan to establish once I can get registered as a non profit. I will be making nothing from this nor would whoever helped me. This app is purely for raising awareness and hopefully eventually raising money to go towards Veteran groups. If someone would want to help out please let me know. Thank you for considering.
Where you a DS at? I'm sure you can find some geek to put on CQ with you and help. I mean geek as a term of endearment since I was a 31/25 series.

Hi painandpleasure, I'm not a vet, but most of my family was, but none saw combat. Regardless, I just want to give you a HUGE THANKS for your service and sacrifice. You are the real heroes. Good luck with the app, even if it helps one person, it'll have been worth the effort.
In terms of learning to develop, much of it is just trial and error. You have to be willing to try something and let it all go if it doesn't work. Start by mapping out what you're trying to do, then search for examples you can reference and go from there. I know it's not earth shattering advice, but its something that's worked well for me. There's also a specific developers only section on XDA, maybe post there if you need help.
Best of luck and God bless,
