Hi Everybody,
I unlocked a Samsung Nexus S 4g, managed to installed clockwork 3.0.2.4 and now when I reboot, it got stuck on the loading screen where it shows "google" and the and the padlock at the bottom. Please help me fix this.
This is my friend's phone. It seems that it does not recognize the sdcard.
Thank you for your help if you can provide any advice.

Have you ever taken the phone apart? I normally only see that when the NFC/"SIM" daughter board isn't connected. Also, can you boot into bootloader?

Boot into fastboot.
Download the recovery image again. Make sure it's the correct recovery for your NS model (don't use the NS4G recovery on the NS GSM). Flash it using fastboot.
Then go into recovery, do a full wipe and flash a ROM.
Idk why, but my friend had the same problem. He downloaded an older version of CWM recovery through ROM Manager, rebooted into recovery after and was able to install CWM 4.0.1.4 after. Idk if that will help but it worked for him

Fixed it!!!!
Thank you guys for all your help. I had to unrooted and make sure it loads completely and do the whole process of rooting it again with the newest Clockwork recovery for the ns4g.
It took me a good couple of hours and bring my friend home mad at me, but she will be happy today when I get back her phone.
I wanted to thanks all of you for your help. I'm new to this forum but I appreciate your prompt response. I guess I'm going to stick around more often.
Thanks again

When you unlock your Phone, everything is wiped.
After you install recovery, you have to start your Phone by holding the Vol Up and Power button.
Go to recovery - mount your SDCard, copy the ROM that you want to flash and flash it.
You are not stuck on the Google Bootscreen - there is no ROM to boot from.

Thanks alot, it really got me worry but I was able to mount sd card and complete the whole process, now it is running the latest MIUI port for it.
I had a similar issue only that when I would click to flash the zip for clockwork in bootloader it said "file does not exist" I had to run a cmd prompt on my comp to install the clockwork mod.

Hey,
Im on nexus i9023 with NSCollab rom and netarchy
Today i decided i wanted to try Cyanogen mod and downloaded it throug rommanager, al good up until that point!
Download was complete and i selected to contineu with the rom, it asked me if i wanted to backup my current rom and wipe cache/dalvik wich i said yes to!
Then it shutdown and stayed on the Google logo with the unlocked lock , i left it hanging to see what would happen but it just remained like it was stuck, so i decided to pull the battery and fired up again, all seems back to normal still running NSCollab!
But i cant get into Clockwork recovery anymore, it always shows the Google logo as said before, as we all need CWR, can you guys tell me what to do or what is going on?
Thnx!
If you can't get into CWR through the bootloader, just flash it again using fastboot like you did the first time.

did this, didnt help, still stuck on logo!
ROM Manager has never worked right for me when I try updating CWR.
Can you explain exactly what happens when you try to get into recovery from the bootloader? Your phone reboots and is stuck on the Google logo? Or do you get a message along the lines of "no recovery img"? or what?

I reflashed the recovery image through command, like when first setting up CWR, and it worked, i have recovery back!
Thnx!

okay when your in the orange recovery
you have a selection mounts/storage
the 4th mount has to say:
unmount/system
if it doesn't you will softbrick like you did!
so if it doesn't say
unmount/system
you have to go down to it and choose it then you will be fine
do this before and after you flash the rom
WOW!! I GOT IT!!! Thank u!!!

EDITED:Big Detail after i installed the ROM the phone rebooted by itself, i waited till it booted completely and tried Vol- + power and got a boot loop, i booted it regularly it boots great, so i installed Rom Manager and re flashed the recovery ,rebooted to recovery (blue ASR) and when i hit reinstall i get E:failed to verify whole-file signature. I'm Thinking its because i didn't have a chance to re unmount.
Don't use rom manager there's no need to just read through the forums a bit before you keep asking questions using any rom on this fourm should have you with a red clockwork mod recovery which is the correct cwm you need to use rom manager gives you one that isn't right for the phone

RE: Boot Loop Issue
Did this issue ever get resolved? My sk4g is shot, and I don't know what I did to deserve it. Solution Anyone? Can't get past the T-Mobile Sidekick 4g bootloader screen. I've heard that Heimdall supposedly works, but I've had no success.

Just used it today actually, it works WONDERS. Maybe I can help you? It took some work getting to work. Do you have the drivers?
I rooted my htc evo threw the official boot loader unlocked then installed superuser and clockwork recover threw adb. After series of trial and error it will not boot into recovery. Can someone please help?
Same issue
I have the exact same problem going on... I have even flashed several different recoveries and I get absolutely no luck at booting into recovery, I am pretty much a noob at this stuff so anyone out there that has an answer that would be majorly appreciated.
Having the same issue.. you guys find any gold? (Sorry for bump)
same problem guys any luck please I need help
did anybody find any help
Have all of you checked the Evo 3D section on XDA? I'm sure you'd get more help and information over there.

Try booting holding pwr and vol down together to boot to the bootloader.
From there you should be able to boot into recovery as long as your root stuck

Nope, when I click recovery, it just reboots the phone.
I am having the same issue. It began after i installed rom manager and flashed the clockword recovery and accidentally deleted the rom on the root of my sd that i was currently running. I tried back tracking. I deleted clockwork mod on my sd card and deleted rom manager from my phone and put my rom back on the root of the sd. Still no luck. It wouldnt boot into the bootloader when i had rom manager and it wont do it when I power the phone up with the volume button down. It just reboots my phone to the current rom i am running. I know this is kinda redundant to what everyone else said, i was just trying to add more details. Replies would be greatly appreciated!
im having the same problems too
same problem here..
i have followed all the steps and already <fastboot flash recovery recovery.img> and it say successful..
after that i go click Recovery my evo3d restart only..
don't boot into recovery...zzz...

Olson that just happened to me too. I flashed clockwork mod recovery from the ROM manager now I can't get into recovery. I was running TWRP... Team win recovery before ibdid this and was having no problems then... Please help!
I'm running Nocturnal stock ROM, ROM Manager, and CWM Recovery and using every option known to boot to recovery results in just a reboot. Holding down power and volume down boots to HBoot.
Same problem for me. I cannot boot into recovery...
What CWM are you guys using? I believe if you unlock via HTC method v5 of CWM wont work but v4 does. If you have a look at the Q&A section in the Evo 3d forum this question has been asked a few times so you may find an answer there.
i had same issue
this is caused when we go into ROM Manager and when >(we update the ClockworkMod)< this is whats not letting us into our revolutionary recovery. It is fixable I did this to my device a few times and just did it again I have to refresh my memory on how to fix it but once i do i will be happy to explain how i did it.
Okay like i had just mentioned in my previous message i had the same issue a few times to fix this is simple i just had to refresh my memory. Open up CMD on your computer and just like you did when rooting your device open up the folder that had all the root necessities mine was "rootevo3dnew" then with you device connected type in "fastboot flash recovery cwm-4.0.1.4-shooter.img" then load the the bootloader by hitting the power button then hit recovery and BOOM lol you got your blue revolutionary setup.

The reason I think you guys have been having this issue is because v5 of cwm is buggy on the EVO v4 is not when you install VIA ROM manager it installs the most up to date v5 this then could cause u to lose recovery.

that is exactly what is happening but theres no need for the panic its just a simple fix all you have to do is install the cwm that came with the rooting files and u will have your recovery back people just need to avoid updating their cwm with rom manager.
Hey everyone,
Basically I was trying to flash a new ROM onto an old Nexus S of mine and when I tried to boot into recovery there was just a black screen. I pressed the power button and a single line saying "Clockwork mod Recovery" and the version number popped up. I assumed that the recovery must've been corrupted so I erased it and installed the latest version using fastboot which seemed to work fine.
Now whenever I try to boot into recovery I just get a blank screen with nothing else. I've tried using other recovery images such as twrp but the same problem happened, I just get the background wallpaper/image and nothing else.
I searched the forums and apparently people were having this issue earlier on when the i9023 was first released but now most custom recoveries are supposed to work with both i9020 and i9023.
Also the touch buttons light up and vibrate whenever I touch them when I'm in recovery mode.
Any help to this problem would be greatly appreciated as atm I have an old ROM which is buggy as hell and I need to get rid of it.
Cheers!
I had the same Issue. If you can boot into the rom, you can try to download the rommanager-app and install the recovery from there.
Hey I tried that already that and instead of booting into recovery it just went into the bootloader and said "No Recovery or Bootloader found".
Any other ideas?
Did you clicked the first point in rommanager? Install recovery, or you only hit the second button reboot into recovery?

Hey
I have the i9023 and I install rom manager. install CWM and if I reboot into recovery it works and I get in to CWM recovery.. but after reboot into os.. if I go into Rom manager and reboot to recovery it dont work? I just get the android figur and a "!".. then I just can Power + vol up and I'm in bootloader recovery..
Do I have to install CWM every time i want to use it? and can't I access CWM on boot op ?
sorry for my bad English
Normaly you have to flash the recovery only once.
Try to flash the newer clockwork-recovery with fastboot.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=988686
Alfiedk: You need to get rid of this file:
/system/etc/install-recovery.sh
As it re-installs the stock recovery every boot.
I think you can download any custom ROM for your phone, and flash it in CWM recovery, this will also solve the problem
Edit: Did you unlock the phone? Have you tried fastboot oem unlock?

Yes I made sure I selected install clockwork mod. Like I said the problem isn't the same when I do this, instead of a blank screen, when I boot into recovery it goes straight to fastboot and tells me that I don't have a recovery image installed at all...

what happens when you try to temporary boot into the recovery?
instead of "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img", try to "fastboot boot recovery.img"
Just look for an recovery.img that works temporary and then try to flash it permanently.
I'll try it and get back to you Xziped. If anyone else can think of any other ideas please just throw'em at me, I'm willing to try anything!
Yeah no help there either. It does the exact same thing temporarily booting into a recovery that it did when I actually had it installed on the phone :\.
I updated ROM manager to the latest and tried installing CWM with that but to no avail. It still says that there is no recovery installed when I do that.

Sorry but if not even the temporary recovery boots up, i dont know what else we can do
did you try some of the older recoverys? is your bootloader unlocked?
I haven't tried an older recovery and my bootloader is unlocked.
could it be a problem with my computer as opposed to the phone itself? As in my computer is messing up when trying to flash the recovery?
I've also noticed now that when I boot into fastboot mode the menu just locks up and doesn't respond to anything. Sometimes I have to pull the battery and other times it'll start responding after randomly pressing the power key a lot of times...
I'll try an older recovery next

Reboot the phone holding power and volume down until you're into the bootloader screen and then select recovery. Try restoring the backup you made. If that doesn't work go back into recovery, put a rom on the sdcard, and flash it. Then reboot.
i cant get to my sdcard because i cant get to twrp anymore. everytime i have it reboot from bootloader it just goes the htc screen and turns off. :crying:
Reinstall twrp from fast boot.
