It seems I have no GPS lock when trying to aquire directions. It says there is compass interference, but when I calibrate it, still no lock. Any ideas?

The compass interference issue is likely related to 3.2, but the GPS should lock. Be sure you are outside when you give it a try. Also, it can take up a few (up to 10) minutes if the GPS has not been used in a while and the ephemeris need to be downloaded.
Ah, I see. Guess I'll try it outside. I just got the tablet yesterday, so it might take a bit.

I highly recommmend GPS Status & Toolbox, which speeds up GPS fix and also can be used to calibrate the compass.

The GPS needs to see the satellites to get a good signal. You need to see three. Get GPS essentials it will show you the details. and yes the compass is different from the GPS.
So, my GPS decided to randomly work. I uninstalled the Google Maps updates, then redownloaded them, and that seemed to do the trick. Thanks guys!

I've been having major issues with the GPS on my Inspire. I've tried multiple fixes and methods of locking on, and still nothing!
But then today, I tried using that Google Car Home app that includes GPS that you eventually have to pay for (after the trial period is over). When I used that, I was able to navigate decently, still not great, but good enough.
I've tried checking to see if there were any updates for Google Maps or the navigator, and I supposedly have the latest.
Anyone else have similar problems?
Have you tried the GPS fix created by AngelDeath?

I've also used AD's fix and my results were great. I went from 3-4 mins for a lock outside down to 3-9 secs for a lock. I flashed the North America v1.0 zip since I travel a lot for work across country. I've only tested in my home area (Chicago), but from what I've read it works great everywhere else too.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1036253
Yeah I've tried that and I got the same results. The fact that the other GPS app was working fairly well leads me to believe the problem lies with Google Navigation...? It doesn't make sense why that would be messed up though. I've tried reinstalling it, I've tried stock, I've tried three different ROMs, still same results.

I think the only way would be to restore from a backup. I don't think AD has a revert.
Anyone else having issues with Google maps trying to find your current location? I keep getting the "your current location is temporarily unavailable" message. I've turned both gps and wifi location on.
At least this last update fixed the fc issue where maps would close out withing 5 seconds of opening.
Edit:
Ok, so after two factory resets I decided to tether my infinity to my rooted droids wifi and drive around while running gps test on both. Phone picked the satellites up faster at first but after the first 1/4 mile or so the infinity was up to par. I drove around like this for 4-5 miles in a big loop testing it by going through a town and a hilly heavily wooded area.
This brings me to the next part of the puzzle. Back at home, not so convinced after my drive around, I decided to turn off the gps on my infinity, turn it back on and check again on gmaps. No love once again, even if I walk around my whole house, go upstairs or outside. However, I found that if I turn the gps test on first after turning the gps on the infinity, maps will find my location right away; No such luck with my weather widgets location finding function. I'm beginning to think this is a software problem? idk what it could be... anyone have any ideas?
No, I just got 20 metres accuracy indoors while pointing the back of the tablet towards an open window.

Tried the reset twice and none of the other gps functions seem to work (weather widgets location function, or google+ picture location upload function). I downloaded gps test and that'll work, I'll explain in my original post with an edit.

Did you clear your data/cache..? (Maps) How's your signal.what GPS are you using

I am having a similar issue, but mine takes a good 10 minutes to lock on a signal. This is with a clear sky view and using google maps.
It seems to be getting worse lately. I am on Root66 with the bootloader still locked by the way.
I'm having the same issue as well. It was working like a champ before I flashed CM10.

I truly think it's because we all know Samsung makes great phones, but they lack in the radio department.mine takes a while sometimes even with a clear view of the sky.I think a good update to fix these radio issues would help out allot, unless our xda community can step in before especially now with an unlocked Bootloader

Try odining back to stock rooted. Fixed my gps after losing it in cm10

This fixed my issues as well
I'm also seeing trouble with my gps not locking. It's only been in the last couple days, and I've changed nothing since the time that it had been perfect.
Makes me think there's something satellite or google related?
Download "GPS Test" app from the market. Open the app. Go into settings and clear AGPS, then update AGPS. That worked for me. Try that before you Odin back to stock.

As previously stated, I am NOT using CM10... I tried to download "GPS Test" 5 times and got an error 491 all 5 times (with wifi on or off, did not matter).
EDIT: I restarted my phone and then it downloaded just fine... that is another annoying issue!
GPS
My phone with the stock Rom would generally asquire a GPS lock quickly, but tended to lose it more often than other phones. However, on CM 10 I have had trouble locking as well. For me if I put my phone on the dashboard I usually get a lock in about thirty seconds. I know that doesn't fix it for you, but it is the workaround I've been using so far.
Put a modified gps.conf on.
Use fasterfix and pick a local NTP server.
Turn on google A-GPS (Location services).
It still doesn't lock through objects as well, but it's quick outdoors.

I can confirm that this worked for me as well. Also, when I have locking issues in Maps or Waze, I just launch GPS Test and wait until the "In Use" # of satelittes is 2 or more. When I subsequently go back to Maps or Waze, I get an immediate lock.

I wrote up a lot about this for my previous device, the htc mytouch 4g slide. See this thread for some gps.conf info:

GPS is a real big deal for me, I use the smartphone to get to/from work daily, and my job takes me all over the country so I am never familiar with where I am.
The SGSIII locks quick and accurately outdoors with only gps turned on for location services.
Totally stock, and haven't put it through it's paces yet, but been wandering around in west virginia all day and it's been great.
Clear view of the sky is necessary for good gps function, so trying to use indoors or even under lots of trees is a stretch.
Outside, maybe in a parking lot or field, would be the best place to try to use gps.

I found that flashing back to the actual verizon f2 build and then rooting without flashing a deodexed stock rom helped to retain gps with other TW roms like beans or synergy.
Right now I still think that CM10 is risky and you might need to flash stock back on your phone if things stop working like they used to.

this
thanks
I came from the samsung fascinate which had horrible GPS service for the first 6 months. OTA's were sent out to fix it but it never really worked well. I tried all sorts of programs and configs and deleting files, etc, which might have helped some but never great until one of the devs fixed the issue in the kernel. After that I could get instant lock indoors/outdoors/cloudy skies/etc.... super annoying to go back to a crappy GPS.

I tried this app, it didn't work as I had hoped. At first the app was successful at getting a quicker GPS lock than Maps, but after clearing & updating AGPS, it takes even LONGER for it to lock!
Has anyone else found another method to fix this?
PS: my phone is stock.
others have also suggested using Gps Status & Toolbox, similar to Gps Test.

That's my preference for on the fly.
I took a look at the gps.conf file, seems like it could be better then it is stock at first brush.
Not sure how much or often I can give time at the moment, but tweaking it is on my list.

Please forgive me if this has been asked and solved before. I'm having a problem with GPS locking on this rom only. I tried updating the GPS config file but had no luck locking on. I'm in an area where with other roms I can typically lock onto about 7 or 8 satellites. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I did try using GPS Status to "reset" the GPS. It did VERY briefly find two satellites and then they disappeared. I've tried re-downloading the rom, wiping, etc. with no luck. I'm just bummed out cause I really like this rom but no GPS is a no-go for me.
Gps works. Try more apps. Get a fresh download. There are always more things to try.

You said it works..are you using an app from the app store, or is it working from the Rom itself? It's my favorite Rom but I rarely use GPS. I just wanna know in case I decide to use it.

I did download GPS Status from the Play Store and I use navigation daily so it's pretty important to me. I don't know why sometimes it seems to see less or more in the same location but I used the turn by turn directions last night just fine. I'll let everyone know if I see any changes but right now it seems good.
I also flashed the Wi-Fi calling and it's working out, thank you. Looking forward to your future projects!
I've been running the 10.1 nightly for a while now, and I'm pretty sure this problem has been present all along. I just haven't gotten around to posting about it.
Basically, my phone is just bad at pinpointing my location using Maps or any other app. It will hone in on a fairly large circle of maybe 10 blocks, but can't get any more precise than that. I don't remember ever seeing this issue before flashing 10.1, and was just wondering if this is a known issue or if there are any fixes.
Everything else with the phone works just fine.
Sounds like it's only using cell towers to pinpoint your location. I'm assuming GPS is actually turned on? You can try an app from the market called faster GPS to nominate what region you're in, that might help.
