[Q] Switch off vibrate mode - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As I know, we can only switch from "ring+vibrate to "vibrate" mode by pressing the top tight corner button
Or lowering the volume to 0
is there any way for silent mode which don't even vibrate?
It's awkward,seriously O_O

the only way is that your in settings deactivate vibrate mode.
then you can switch from "ring" to "silent" mode by pressing the top tight corner button. but then you have no vibrating at a call. this sucks. i searched it too

I was searching this option too. But I didn't manage. Maybe they will repair it in next actualisation (Tango).

I pinned the Settings Icon on my Start to get to this setting faster. There is no other way.

Easy way to silence your XDA?

I am looking for an easy way to set my XDA to silent using one hand, like when heading into a meeting.
I have searched through these forums and found My|Profile & Ultra Profiler but really was looking for something even easier (freeware?).
Anyone want to do a little programming?
Here is how it would work.
1. Today screen plug-in
2. One icon or button labeled as "Silent"
3. Using a 'Today Options' button you could select a check box to Vibrate when Silent.
4. When "Silent" is pressed it would set the Volume Settings to 'Off'
That's it. Nothing else, no changable tones, no schedules. Just quickly silence the device. You can then use the Volume Slider to restore your previous settings.
On a related matter I don't understand why I can use the Volume Slider to recover from a "Volume Off" setting. It restores my previous Phone & PDA settings but I can't go to "Volume Off" using the slider. Weird.
If you can cope with two screen taps, the easiest way is simply to tap the speaker symbol at the top of the screen then tap "Off" (then tap the speaker symbol again if you want to close the pop-up). After the meeting there are two quick ways to restore the volume settings to their previous levels:
1) tap the speaker symbol and then "On" (then tap the speaker symbol again to close the pop-up)
2) slide the volume button on the side of the XDAII up twice

just press the colum button about 2 times it will go from max sound to off then to vibrate then to low then keep pressing it to make it go up and up till it reaches max then the cycle starts again very simple
Thanks for the ideas.
RafilK, maybe I have fat figures but trying to hit the Speaker Icon, with a finger, nestled between the time and the signal icon is a hit and miss affair.
gazzaman2k, please excuse my ignorance but what's a "Colum Button"? Is it one of the hardware buttons?
sorry typos meant to say volume
Fair enough. What I believe gazzaman2k was referring to was the hardware sliding button on the side of the XDAII that is used to increase and decrease volume. He is right, two downward movements of the volume button do silence the XDAII - I forgot about that! Hope this helps. Regards -- Rafil.
no i was on about the ahrdware button on the xda 1 actually

Vibration Problem on Samsung Galaxy S

Hey, I got my samsung galaxy s yesterday and I have a problem..When I have silence mode on with vibration it doesn't vibrate when i recieve a new sms and that really bugs me..any solutions? I've tried sound manager and it doesn't work.
Please Help Me!
/Anton
the volume buttons... on the side... can fix that for you. press the down button until you get to the "vibrate" setting... and um, press the up button to turn the ringer back on and away from the "vibrate" setting -- the more times you press the up button the louder your ringer will be and visa versa until you get to the silent mode :/
that silent mode in the notifications section is just pointless in my opinion :/
I also had this problem today at doctors office, and missed a call.
I'am new to this phone and forum, but found this works. This is just one way,
I'am sure there are others too.
From Home Screen, Select Menu, Select Settings, Select Sound & Display
Check Silent Mode to "ON"
Check Phone Vibrate to "ON" (I leave this "ON" all the time anyway)
This way you only have to toggle ON & OFF the Silent Mode, as the Vibrate
always stays "ON", unlike if you use Silent from the Notification Screen. I don't
know why.

no silent feature for volume control?

I'm hoping there is already and answer to this question but I long for the winmo days when i had the option to silent my phone without vibrate, now it seems the only option is volume up or silent with vibrate, sometimes I need the phone to be silent without vibrate, like when i'm interviewing or a in a training class and people near me don't need to hear my phone vibrate incessantly.
is there an option to put the phone on silent with no vibrate?
i've been using my wp7 hd7 for several months

settings - ringtones + sounds - turn both ringer and vibrate to off. should work.
You can disable vibrate there.. and to switch between ringer and silent press vol up or vol down and tap on the bell icon in the top right of the pull-down shade..
I wish we could go from vibrate to silent right from the volume control though....

I'm only using NoDo, but I'm pretty sure if it's set to vibrate, and I turn down my volume all the way, it won't vibrate at all.

mute mode with Android 5.0

Hello,
I just passed to Android 5.0 yesterday and no way to go to mute mode.
Before, when I press down volume, after i had vibrator mode and one press down again and mute mode.
Now, if I'm on vibrator mode and press down volume, no mute anymore .
Thanks.
It's a known issue, (or maybe bug)?
It seems the only way to get into mute mode is by turning volume down to vibrate, then tap volume up one time and... Reboot. After reboot you're in mute mode.

Mute is required!!!
Just press volume up/down and tap "PRIORITY". By default it will be the same as "mute" mode.
In 5.0 the "mute" just became customizable

Except you'll still get notifications in "priority" mode and make noise. I had everything unchecked and some Facebook notification came thru when I was sleeping the other night. If there is some way to disable all notifications (but keeping the alarm) short of killing the internet connection I don't know.
This sucks in Android L. Hope some skilled dev can do something about it.
Or maybe Google will fix it if enough ppl complains: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=79445

Tap a volume button and click "NONE". That will turn off ALL notifications, either indefinitely, or for the period you specify (defaults to 1 hour, but you can increase it by tapping)
[Edit] Oh wait, I just saw that you said "but keeping the alarm". Oh well...
No way there is no soulution for this problem dudez!

Silent Vibration mode as on iPhone

Hey folks, I've switched from an iPhone 6s to the Pixel. Zero regrets about that decision but I'm really missing on feature. The Silent/Vibration Mode you can activate with the switch on the side. Unfortunately the do not disturb mode kills all vibrations, when you're getting called f.e., but I would still like to get notified when getting called but just the vibration not the sound. Do you have any ideas, because I haven't found anything in the settings. Thanks in advance :highfive:
My phone never makes a sound, I just have it on vibrate only.
Use your volume switch and slide the "Ring" slider all the way to the left. If you hit volume down from there, it can go into do not disturb mode. Volume up again will put it back and vibrating only.
Also, if you go to Settings > Sound make sure that 'Also vibrate for calls' is turned on.
