[Q] Adding bloatware back .... - Samsung Infuse 4G

OK – I know this sounds ridiculous but I’m getting ready to flash the Infuse with a custom ROM but I want to save a couple apps for the new ROM.
Is there a way I can selectively save these stock apps on a SD card (before I flash) and reload them after I flash (and where does AT&T/Samsung have them stored)?
Thank you guys, you all do great work and we all appreciate it.

[Q] Odin PIT Files for SGS4G

Does anyone have these or know where i may get them? i want to flash through Odin but you have to use a PIT file, right? i know people have tried to use the original Vibrant PIT and have bricked so obviously i'm not going to do that. Many thanks.
Use whitehawkx's deodexed kd1 it works perfectly and is already rooted and is READY for CWM

No you do not need a PIT file. Many have messed up their phones using the wrong pit file. There is another thread that says he created a PIT that works for the SGS4G, But you don't need a PIT, infact most instructions state do not check repartition on ODEN. Check here to see how to use ODEN. CWM is now working check the DEV page for information on using that.
Ok. I flashed without the PIT and NANDROIDed back. I lost too much to bother with it. Especially until there is and app that has a one-click restore feature for app backup

Like all my apps and stuff. I guess it's my laziness because I don't want to reinstall every individual .apk

Oh i thought you were doing this because you were soft bricked or something but in your case then you dont need this you could easily just do alternatives to getting all the thing that kernel comes with

You can use titainum backup to Backup your Apps. Go to the Market on your phone and get Titanium Backup and install it. It has a batch program to backup your Apps.

Read This. This might help you understand better.
ROMs are typically released in deodexed form because they can be themed and modified fairly easily, whereas theming/modifying an odexed ROM is basically impossible (at best things would crash like crazy). Some people also choose to release their ROMs in odexed versions for people who would prefer the performance gains.
Helpful for sure. So it's easier to add mods. Jeez does that make it easier to modify the rom. sorry i have to ask this here because well you know. I don't want mister clown to chop my head off. So i will let you. Flame on!!

ROM Manager

Hey I was just browsing the market and decided to invest in Rom manager (used it religiously on my old Droid 1). Lo and behold we don't even have a cwm listed!
What needs to be done to have some of these roms I see on this board listed in that App?
Thanks and sorry for the noob question. (We need a Q and A board.)

Just install CWM for the Galaxy S i9000, works perfect.

You would want to check all 3 if it is your first flash, that way if something goes wrong you have a backup to restore, and the other two need to check because they are cache for your original rom, not the new one.
It's worth doing the backup of your stock setup.
Wiping the data isn't necessary unless you are a stickler about starting "fresh".
Dalvik cache wipe never hurts.

If you are coming from stock, you need to wipe all. It can cause issues, i have seen it. You get lots of force close, stuff that is removed from stock would still be there, which could also cause problems. Its better to do a full wipe when going from stock to a custom rom, and when switching custom roms.
I think I made a mistake, it reboot into recovery and I guess I was to wipe data and cache then reboot into cyanogen rom, but I did not wipe data and cache, Now it froze on me. What can I do, Did I just brick my phone?

Tips on flashing / rooting / cwm.

Soooo. Im planning on getting this phone. Soon. Realllll soooooonnnnn.
And there are a few things i want to know.
Does this phone have a radio/spl like the htc g1? (just an example) where we have to flash a new radio/spl to flash a certain rom? or can we just flash any rom straight from cwm?
and im not sure whether im going to be getting a rooted or unrooted phone, so to be on the safe side, say i'm not rooted. Is there a way i can root it without a computer?
Once rooted, i know i can flash the "wannabe cwm" from rom manager to flash roms.
Im also from the sgs4g forums where we can go into download mode/recovery mode by the volume button + power button combinations. Is this pretty much the same?
All answers appreciated. (even though im sure not all of them will be quite related to this post and rather flaming me telling me to go search before posting, but maybe thats just the other forums)
Thanks for everything guys. Hope to be a great member and a flashaholic with the g2x
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA Premium App
This phone will be much better than the SGS4G.
First off, do not flash CWM from ROM Manager. The G2x needs a slightly custom CWM.
Best way is to flash CWM via NVFlash. It's kind of sorta like going into download mode. There's couple threads on it in the Development section, so it's easy to find. And you need a computer for that. Once that's done that's pretty much it... Just wipe data, dalvik cache, and head into mounts and format /system. Once you did those 3 things then flash whatever ROM you want.
You don't have to worry about SPL, radio, modem, etc. Good luck.

You don't need root to flash a new ROM for the G2x. You just need CWM via NVFlash.

No, you flash CWM from NVFlash. You flash ROM's through CWM.

Alright so.. ima be flashing cwm via nvflash tomorrow. If it bricks my phone, can i get the solutions to fix it? Im asking now just in case something happens tomorrow. Thanks guys.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
i sincerly doubt you will brick your phone. Using NvFlash is pretty much easy enough for a monkey so you should be okay.
After that find a already rooted rom you want to load up through CWM. If your staying stock without loading up a new rom you need to get superoneclick to root it.
Tips: Don't unistall system apps unless your sure you don't need them. Once you unistall a system app and you hard reset it won't be there.
Recommended is stock foryo (rooted) rom or Ultimate Froyo Rom
invest a few bucks into gold standard apps (rootexplorer, setcpu, etc)
Hit me up if you have any general questions
Im not a noob. All i needed was to get cwm on my phone.
And i only asked about radios because phones with radios (like the g1 for example) had to flash a different radio to flash a rom. . that question was answered.
And i asked about the nvflash because i bricked my other phone a couple of times via odin. . And that question was also answered.
Currently running weapon g2x. deleted all bloatware/useless items. Just want to ask if i can download the samsung keyboard from my galaxy s 4g. (pushing the keyboard apk to the g2x.) and how would i add korean to it? As im pretty sure we'd have the language somewhere else.
Other than that, thanks all. .

I recommend going to this link: http://shortfuse.org/?p=193 - to download SuperOneClick v2.3.3 as it is the current version and not attached in the link above. However, you should go to the link above and read up on SuperOneClick. I have not heard of any risk involved with SuperOneClick as long as you read and follow directions. And BE PATIENT with it.

I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.
Redd I know you want to try and help but that is not even close. This guy is looking for an easy way to root.
Alex you can either follow Lumins link for root or learn to use ODIN or Heimdell to flash a kernel that has root and clock work mod. I know this is a lot to take in. CWM has many advantages over simply rooting your phone. Such as custom ROMS that already have most bloat removed thereby freeing up tons of space. Either way you decide to go just read whatever you can and be patient with the learning curve.

I recommend you use a CWM kernel anyway since you'll have ext4 support which should give your phone a nice speed boost too.

CWM won't mount SD card or USB storage. WIFI not connecting also!

I rooted my gf phone and flashed a new rom. Now I am trying to go back to stock but CWM won't mount her SD card and USB storage and WIFI won't work! Anyone out there know what is going on? I know about the file you have to delete on .android_secure but I can find it even on a computer!

Mmm, many questions...
Do you try full wipe/factory reset before installing new room?
Are you using a kustom kernel? If yes, try to reflash it. Customs kernels also includes CWM Recovery.
Sorry for my english!
Luck!
I did a full reset wipe and no I just installed the rom. Which at the moment I'm forgetting what its called
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Well. This is the first custom room you installed? If not, probably is a room bug, or the compatibility with your phone is not 100% funtionally.
If yes, perhaps the root is not correct. Why you dont try to re-root your phone?
Or try with another room and tested.
If still not working, dont worry, we will solve it!
Try BH's back to stock one click.
I'm curious what ROM you are using? Go to settings - about phone and it will tell you the name.
It was the ICBINB rom I believe.
