Well I'm getting into theming my notification pulldown and I was wondering what image editor to use..thanks.
I use GIMP. I'd be interested to see what others use, because I'd like to experiment with other software.

after changing the better part of my icons
i tried to make some nice icons for my contacts in my quiklist
i took a photo of my friend deleted the background an made a nice frame saved it as an png
and opent it in outllook as her picture
but outlook does not keep the background transparent !!!!
is there a way around this ?????
Not in Outlook I'm afraid.
.Net CF controls do not support transparency, so anyone developing software that does support it has to code their own image rendering methods. It's a pain in the arse, but that's the way it is.
Is there a possibility that i could adjust the transparency of an opaque widget (facebook & Fancy widget)? I'm just looking to be guided into the right direction I will do the dirty work and I would of course post my end product.
Basically I want to make transparent widgets for my home screen. any help is appreciated.
Good luck. Supposedly you'll need at least root access and manually edit the image files of said widgets. I don't know if you can just over-write the old ones or if you actually have to make a package to install.
While I have previous linux experience, I have yet to really explore my Nexus's files.
There is usually a background image, just make it transparent with a graphics editor, replace and repackage. You can also use NinjaMorph to do the dirty work on the phone.
Hi, could anybody point me in the direction of learning how to make homescreen applications links/shortcuts in the form of text with icons? I am aware of how to use Simple Text to create purely text icons, but that only works to create icons that are 1x1 - whereas the most shortcuts with icons and text are more like 1x3. Attached is an image of what I am trying to achieve, I've searched high and low both on here and on google, but can't seem to find any instruction on how to do it. Thanks in advance.
Also, first post. Hi.

Hi there,
So recently I got Nexus 5 after 4 years of HTC Desire. Quite a huge leap performace wise I might add, and this phone is absolutely a sweetheart. The first thing I did was rooting the phone
Anyways, I am thinking to change the color of all icons (including icons of applications) to black and white. I get it that I would need to extract the icons first, and then change the color using some icon or icon editing program or simply a photo editing program etc.
Now what I would need to know is that how can I repack the icons back to the application? or would I need to place it in some directory and fiddle with some xml file?
Cheers!

Why don't you just use a Launcher that allow you to use custom icons? with Nova and Apex you can do it

Icons are icons. The colour of icons does not need xml files. Its all controlled by images.
You can actually repack quit easily, but also takes a lot of effort. You need to look at the villain rom theme engine. It is a flashable zip that unpacks each apk and replaces whatever you have in the zip in the apk. Essentially you would have /system/app_name/res/icon.png (pretending that this is the location of the icon in the apk, each will be different I expect)... but you have to do this for every app.
I tried visual studio, but it doesnt work on my version of windows. Im looking for a program that will help in designing app icons and the like. not sure how to go about this, so any advice from someone on what they use to make their own icons for thier apps?
