I put the Rockplayer apk on the root of the sdcard and I've tried 3 app installer applications off the market to try and install it but they all say something like "no apps found." Any advice on how to install this apk now that it's on the sdcard?
Just... get it from the market.
What do you need it for? Stock video player on the Epic can play xvid\divx AVI files and MKV files.
If you want to install something from sdcard, go to settings > applications > turn on 'unknown sources'
Then navigate to the apk using a file manager (even the included 'my files' will work). Click on it and it will install. If it doesn't, your apk is screwed up

When ever i try to download .apk files through the stock android browser (tried on a rooted evo and rooted charge) it tells me download is unsuccessful and wont let me download the file Is this an android limitation or is there a work around for this? (Besides using another browser )
I think you need a file viewer, try downloading es file explorer first, then redownload the file.

You can download "download all files" (or something like that) from the android market...it should allow you to download...all...files from the browser

+1. I installed 'Download All Files' so that I could get attachments out of the Gmail app.
Other option is using Astro file manager. Under preferences there's a check box for enabling browser downloads.
Is there an easy way to pull apps (apk) from appstore (google, amazon) and save it in a dir?

Get an file manager like es file explorer. Go under app manager and it will list all installed apps. Long press and choose backup. It will then be in a folder called backup on your SD card.

Just copy the apk file from /data/app
Es file explorer great option. I allow app monster pro to backup mine automatically. It achieves all versions of any given apk if the auto setting is checked.
Appmonster will save all your apps as apk into a back up folder on your sd card.

Is the downloaded file a .apk or does it have a different file type?
Do you have installation of non-market apps allowed? Go to Settings -> Applications and make sure Unknown Sources is checked.
you can also try downloading from another browser instead of the stock one such as dolphinHD
I installed Cyanogenmod 7.2.0 RC0. In him no have Task Manager. I would like to install, but I do not know how. It is not enough to click on the installer package. I copied and pasted it in system / app and did Permissions, but Task Manager is not installed.
post the app. I'll make you a fishable zip

I solved the problem. I unzip RC 5.5 Full, from system > app, I copy the application to the SD card, using Root Explore, copied to in the system / app > Permissions > Restart.
