I bought my EU (3G+WIfi , MZ601) Xoom with stock rom 3.01 but ten days ago I updated it via OTA to 3.1
I want to do the following:
(1) root it : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049901&page=17
(2) install CWM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074979
(3) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1203635: install Tiamat kernel
(4) overclock to 1,7 Ghz: http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-overclock-motorola-xoom-to-1-7-ghz-with-tiamat-kernel/
My questions are the following:
1) Is (1) link valid also for 3.1 EU xoom? As far as I see the post was made when there was not EU stock 3.1 xoom on the market. Will it works?
2) overclock on EU (3G+WIfi , MZ601) Xoom using link (4) is ok?
3) How to unlock the xoom? I read that Motorola Xoom has unlockable bootloader. Is this needed to be do before root?
4) The notes written in (1) are to be used with Android SDK? Could you provide me a link please?

ok..I read page 16 and 17..but the only answer I got is the one for:

and I understood wheel,the answer is: I have to wait for 3.1 root files
I have posted the needed files and instructions in how to get root on 3.1

Just don't use the files for 3.0.1 root, this won't help.

If you look for the poster Turkawa, (also from Turkiye) he will probably be able to give you guidance. The Xooms from different countries are a bit different so you will want to follow the exact set of instructions for your device. Also since it's 3G you don't want to lose your 3G service.
How do I know which version of the Xoom I have ? I bought mine in Switzerland 2 weeks ago, and I received the update just after switching it on for the first time

Settings > About this tablet there you see all important informations!
I see :
- Android version : 3.1
- Build number : HMJ37
But it doesn't tell me which version it is. As it's a wifi only Xoom, I suppose it's the MZ604, but I don't know if it's the French version, or European version (regarding to images here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049485)... ?
I have xoom with new update (MZ604 international rom 3.1), and I want to ask if there is any root for this room ???
I tryed many roots until now no one works with me
If any body made root for any non US xoom with the new update ... Please tell me

The answer is that I'm not sure how the international 3.1 differs from the US 3.1. I'm sure we will find out soon. Also are you Wifi only or 3G/Gsm version?

My xoom is originally form US wifi only but I install the international rom because of the arabic language, its officially on the international rom and also because the new update for it

My xoom is originally form US wifi only but I install the international rom because of the arabic language and keyboard

Did you use the boot file that GoNYoR used or did you just follow the instruction in the Xoom forums? I wonder if this will work with a 3G MZ604 on HC3.1. Really interested in rooting my Xoom.

I used the boot file that gonyor used and followed same as him so no problem in rooting you should give atry
A few weeks ago, I purchased a Xoom with Wi-Fi only in Hong Kong while I was visiting. However, I did not know it was a HK Xoom until I did a OTA update to 3.1 H.6.4-20.
I would like to flash a US 3.2 or above using this thread.

To my dismay, it states that only 3.0.1 HK Xoom has been tested and working.
It seems that Motorola has not released the stock 3.0.1 version so I have no way of flashing it to my Xoom.
My question is, is there anyway for me to get a 3.0.1 HK ROM in order to flash a US 3.2 or above? Also, can I try the guide I mentioned above without flashing back to a 3.0.1?

You are looking to unlock your bootloader and root so you can flash a stock or custom rom with the HC three point two update, yes?
There is a new universal root method that works on any Xoom, any model, any country.
If you root with this method you could flash the Tiamat Hammerhead Rom which will provide you with the three point two update. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1209341

You won't be able to get instant updates from Asus, but you can still download and manually install them from Asus' site.

The full Asus firmware is not yet release, we probably have to wait for about 2 weeks. If you want the OTA incremental update go here (post#39)

Are you pure stock? root? unlocked?
yes Im with 10.4.4.25 sku version 4.1.1 only + root and CWM recovery and unlock

1. With your setup (stock rom), you need to wait until Asus release the full firmware, then you can upgrade your CWM to the new TWRP(4.2.1 compatible) then use TWRP to flash the 4.2.1, and SuperSu to gain root back. If you decide to go with custom rom then wait until Cleanrom releases the new rom and new twrp patch, you just flash them.
2. Another way without waiting for anything, you need to downgrade back to ICS .30, use debugfs to gain root, install OTA root keeper to preserve root while upgrading to 4.2.1
I would prefer option 1.

sdbags is going to release 2 versions of 4.2, one is the image from tf300 where you will have dual home launcher (you can switch between the two), which will be here tomorrow. You can try out this one. The second version is faster but only has one home launcher (closer to stock rom), will be release later.
