I searched and read the manual but this is unclear.
I understand that on the right hand side of the earpiece there are front cam and notification LED embeded but what is the smaller round thing on the left side of it?
Thanks.
That is the light sensor. It does a couple of things. It adjusts the screen brightness depending on light level wherever you may be, and it will also deactivate your screen while you are in a call by sensing your face is near the receiver.
It must be a light sensor. Used to help with setting the automatic brightness. Might also be used to determine whether the ringtone mode should be set to "Pocket Mode" possibly, but that's just speculation. But it's a light sensor.
Thanks guys... I thought proximity sensor on the black area = light sensor
thats some alien thingy. it fires up laser if you stare at the device too long.

Is there any camera app that uses the LED light while placing the focus? It's near impossible to get a sharp picture in low-light with my Desire HD.
There are ways to cut through this, though. I activate Tesla LED and keep it activated while opening my camera and sometimes and thus, use it while focusing. This is though not a sustainable solution; I would like a camera app that uses the LED in focus processing by default.
Is there one?
I want to make an app that you can use the camera and accelerometer to do something like this: In a car, when the accelerometer senses that the car has stopped, it uses the camera to see when the light turned green and then it makes a loud beeping noise to tell you that the light changed. What would be the best way to do this? I can use java to make an app but I need some general instruction on how to do it.
when ever i use the loudspeaker and my thumb or finger goes over the proximity sensor the screen stays on but i can't operate the screen unless i move my thumb/finger away. is there anyway to switch off the proximity sensor when on loudspeaker as i do no want it in use. i am using stock cm11 44s rom which is rooted.
thank you
I work in ride-share and need a concealed video registrator so i am using my phone, however night quality is terrible when lights are off in the car, all i see is street lights.
Could you give me few android phone models that have good low light performance for front camera (face camera).
Optional i'd like to have front camera record horizontally wide video when phone is in vertical position (video orientation, 90 degree opposite to the screen orientation).

Is that normal? Lenses are crystal clean!!!!!!
You didn't keep the camera steady enough, try using a tripod for low light / long exposures
Low light keeps the shutter open for longer, so any tiny movements you make will show as blur like your photo
