media gallery issue - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi every body!
Ever since the 3.2 update if I open a picture and try to view the 'Details' from the menu, Gallery crashes. it say: "The Application Gallery (process com.google.android.gallery3d) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Forced Close"
anyone has this issue?
thanks

i just tried it and got the same crash....my tf is fully stock with 3.2 not rooted.
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=18983

Happens on prime 1.7 too. I had also tried pushing gallery apk from 3.1 into prime 1.7 but same crash.

Not alone
I have the same problem and it is ver annoying because I take more than one picture at times in different resolutions because some recipients will receive them on their smartphones and their data plans sometimes don't allow for large e-mails, hence I need to use the smallest possible file size.

just installed Gallery 3D from the market and viewing details there works.
Edit: scratch that... not enough details in gallery 3d
Pressing the "i" as mentioned below works better but doesn't show file size :-(

One thing i forgot to mention that you can still see details of the pics when looking at the thumbnails. Just hit the "i" button on the top right side.

When I press "i", the text at the top right bar overlaps each other. Will post a screenshot when I get home.

This is what I get when pressing "I"

Does anyone recognize what's on this screenshot? PLZ...

A picture is worth a thousand words... So they say. But this picture is missing one word - the name of the software. Suspects are: Qmenu, SPB pocket plus, Phonealarm, WM native behaviour. If anyone knows this, please share, I'm having weird battery problems (like shutdown on 30% and then after powering up, sitting on 1% for over an hour with active usage). I'd like to hunt this bug down and make a kill. Screenshot was made with auto-capture utility, because it only shows right before shutdown, so this bugger was hard to catch. Even now bottom of the image is missing, probably due to write operation being interrupted by shutdown. You can see behind the image in question there is PhonEx being meddled with.
Thanks.

I have no idea what it is (not even sure what I'm supposed to be looking at), but get a task manager like dotfred's or xtask and look up all the open windows. You should be able to track it down that way, and remove whatever's opening it up.
Well, thanks for the advice, but if You read carefully what I wrote, then You could imagine that it's really hard to pull that off in 2-3 seconds while the device is shutting down. Of course, if there would be a system snapshot kind of program - which would let me take a snapshot or log of all open windows in every 1-2 seconds - then it would be awesome, but I am not aware that the utilities You mentioned are able to accomplish that.

Vibrant Home Dock "ported"

Well, not ported as they already mostly worked, just fixed a couple of hiccups. Nothing very clever going on here, but may be of interest to some folks.
As per request in another thread, I've fixed the Desktop Home app for the Samsung Vibrant so that the one thing that doesn't seem to work properly, the "Alarm" button, is now ok.
You can grab the APK from:

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I've also partially fixed the Vibrant Car Home app so that the icons are centered and the "Contacts" link works. The "Search" button doesn't seem to do anything and it seems to be hit & miss as to if you get a "Browser" icon or a "Voice Search" icon as pictured below. It may be a compatibility issue with the JME firmware I'm running, I'll have a play later. Anyway, you can grab the .APK from:
http://db.tt/qN07wwk
The app is incredibly no-frills, there's no other settings or options whatsoever other than what appears on the screen. I'd suggest using the Car Home v3 app from the market instead, although this one does look pretty.
The apps don't lock the screen on either so are probably not terribly useful without an actual dock.
If I can decipher the decompiled smali code some more, I'll replace the "Search" icon with a "Music" one. Changing the app an icon runs is easy, implementing it when it's not already doing something is less so.

A utility locked by Sony Ericsson

If you restart your device with search widget at the main home screen, you'll find a grey voice search icon which vanishes after a some time, so heres the tweak you can unlock this, install the app attached with the post and your done.

I'm unable to upload my .apk file so check the above link it should work, it worked for me.
Very cool..
Lol.. They didn't hide it hard enough.
WP GG
They dont 'hide' it, your phone just didnt come with it. the widget shows it when you restart it because it hasnt kicked into action yet, it just opened, and since it can support voice search it shows the icon, but when it kicks into action and realizes that the phone doesnt have voice search installed, it gets removed. when you install it, naturally it will appear for good.
Fijate que suave....
COOL works Great i can finely use it again because it to disappeared on me and on the market it says it's for 2.2+
THANKs
It was never hidden here
because, x10 mini/x10 mini pro/x8 does not support synthesizer. I though that if I will install the data for the TTS it will support it, but Im out of luck, but on my x10 it was supported out of the box.
Can you upload the 2.1.1 version from the android market? Is this the one from there, that its shown to be working only on android 2.2 or higher?

[Q] (Resolved!) Gallery edit FC's - anyone else?

Just realized that the Gallery app force closes when I chose "edit" from a picture menu. Anyone else getting this?
Fixed/Resolved. Apparently Wallpaper Wizardrii installs the Edit option in the Gallery menu and that's what was crashing.
wow, am I the only one experiencing this. have just updated to the latest FW (.12) and still get FC's when trying to edit a jpg. Getting "not a jpg, jpeg, png or bmp" after the FC.
Unless im missing something, the default gallery doesnt have an 'edit' function (other than the crop tool, which is called 'crop'). It sounds like you have an app (which isnt compatible), that has added this option.
It's the stock gallery app:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
This is what happens after the FC. Get portrait wallpaper screen with no icons and the error message:
Then screen goes to normal landscape mode w/ app icons.

I guess you only get that option when you have it docked then, because its not there on mine. Another thing needing a fix.
Edit: A 'told you so' is in order then. I'm sure there will be an update to that app soon.
Yeah, kinda had that coming. Was driving me crazy though. I just figured the edit feature was new for HC. So now I got a working dock and no FC issues w/ gallery. Life is good.
Thanks for your help though.
I'm jealous of your dock, still waiting on mine. Glad you figured it out. One less thing to be fearful of when I get mine.

Impossible to download images using opera

I use Chrome because I can't deal with the sluggishness if chrome and its choppy scrolling, the thing is opera uses a different image viewer while using Google images, and when I try to tap on the image the dialog to save or open the picture dissappears too fast, is anyone else having this issue?

Does it happen all the time? I find the image dialog stays if I tap and hold and image on a web page. If I tap and hold an image that I already tapped on to get a popup (zoomed in) version of the image, the image dialogs disappears quickly as you described.

Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Yes the situation it's exactly like you describe it, the thing is, that if I hold the image without previously taping on it (aka without zoom) I just save a thumb, with really bad quality , how am I supposed to save te fully loaded (full size) images then? :crying:
All the signs tell me to go back with chrome, but no, I refuse until google fixes the horrible scrolling performance , chrome feels so heavy, sometimes I feel like I'm using a 2009 android phone when I use chrome
