random reboot... - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

is this normal? its not happening too often but sometimes its just annoying.. happens when playing music while d phone screen is off.. music will just stop playing and phone will freeze then reboot.. btw im running icbinb kh1 ext4.. do i need to do something to prevent that?

are you overclocking or using tegrak? also, make sure you clear cache and fix permissions. you may need to do a full wipe. what rom are you coming from?

yes im using tegrak... 1.2 oc following drsextons oc guide in OP of icbinb kh1.. i will try to clear cache and fix perm. im on icbinb kh1.. and im still thinking of flashing d kh2 one but i think theres just a small difference after all.. dunno why they made a kh2 right after kh1 immediately without stating the bugs that were fixed.. i might wait for KL10 i guess that would be d final release lol..

It may be ths over clocking that is causing you problems

I had this problem on stock KH2 with kg4 kernel, what fixed it for me was to switch to ADW launcher. I was using the touchwiz 4 launcher.
I factory reset, cleared the caches and fixed permissions and still would get random reboots (or shutdowns if charging).
After another factory reset I finally just got frustrated and started using the ADW launcher since the only thing I has changed was using the modified Touchwiz 4 and since changing no reboots. Just a couple of times it seemed to freeze and I thought it would reset like before but it did not.

What music player are you using? Try a different one(Mixzing). If not uninstall you're current player and reinstall with market. Seems going from froyo to gb can cause issues with certain apps.

Are you using a task killer? I've stopped having random reboots once I've stopped using it. Be sure to fix permissions every time you flash or install a new program. I've made it a habit to fix permissions every time now.

Sg4g tripping

So i installed the leaked gm a few weeks ago but removed it when i learned of the bootloader issue and overheating issues. Now i have Bionix w/3.3uv bali. Now phone has either been fc'ing or shuts off completely or reboots. Any ideas? I may revert back to kd1 by whitehawx and see if same problem rxists. Personally i think texas heat may be culprit my battery has been 106F and greater. Appreciate any ideas. TIA
*edited since typing while i was half asleep & pissed about my phone shutting completely off. Lol*

Bali is only currently out with version 3.2, must've been a posting mistake.
Anyway, do a full factory restore and see if that works.
If not, ODIN back to KD1.
If you don't want to lose your Apps or Data (contacts, bookmarks, etc) use TitaniumBackup.
You can also ODIN Gingerbread KF2, which has proven to be very stable (little to no bugs) for me and many other users.
Finally, did you ever calibrate your battery when switching FW versions? It sometimes helps.
My bad 3.2bali uv. Told yall i was half asleep typing this. Lol. I really think my battery is culprit. But i did factory reset and went to kd1 deodex then back to black ice. Same issue. Uninstalled now im tryg trigger. And i thk if i do 3.2uv again i will disable lagfix. But my phone reboots every 5mins or while even downloading roms when on black ice & 3.2. Aarrgghhh. So we shall see. So far on trigger for 2 hours and no reboots. Maybe gm bootloaders effed up my compatibility with bali 3.2uv? Thanks guys. Or maybe tegrak is culprit?

[Q] Phone freezes and requires battery pull

Everything was fine for awhile...I used to flash many roms and never had this issue. I thought it might have been one rom but then realized that it happened with a few roms...didn't matter which one I flashed. The screen will freeze or the phone will freeze while charging and I need to do a battery pull to get it up again. Does anyone have any clue why this is suddenly happing to me?
My wifes does this

Hmmm. Are you overclocked? If so, you may want to dial it back a notch.
You could try a fresh flash and wipe as well.

No I am not overclocked. Happened using Synergy and Gingeritis when it wasn't happening before. I had no issues doing normal setting in speedtweak.sh with interactivex but now even with that it's happening.

these "hard locks" seem to be related mostly to the GB roms. either the kernel or radio is giving issues. i dont remember having this issue on froyo. I am using the latest synergy nightlys and i can't remember the last time i had one of those hard locks. been a while. am using ziggys kernel and mr2 radio.

Q: Humble and LPP Force Closes

I am posting this for a friend, and it might be better put under the Humble rom, but maybe someone else has had this issue and no longer uses Humble here is the issue
Ok I'm using humble 1.42 pbj non-oc kernel and launcher pro plus. Randomly it acts like it force closes launcher pro whenever I hit home from another app and my homescreen has to refresh and my entire app drawer has to repopulate. It's getting really annoying having to wait for all my apps to show up. A restart usually fixes this for a short while but the problem comes right back.
Suggestions other than "wrong place" are greatly appreciated
Seems like a bad flash? I have the same setup and had this problem initially, but re-wipe and re-flash fixed it for me.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App
Reflash fixes it temporarily but it came right back. Wiped both caches and
Reflashed twice without it working either time
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App
Danalo does have a comment in the changelog for 1.42 about removing launcher pro due to a perceived instability issue so it sounds like something could be conflicting between the launcher and the rom. You may want to ask in his humble thread to see if he can shed more light on this issue.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk
I use LPP and Humble and have no F/C issues or redrawing of homescreen or app drawer..it works flawlessly and fast
Are you sure it's a FC?
You might just me using up all of your RAM, causing LP to need to refresh when you go back to it.
If. You're seeing this after heavy web browsing or gaming, could be it.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App
Not after any heavy use necessarily. Sometimes it happens after just using tapatalk, or facebook, or twitter. I'll hit home and bam! And sometimes it works fine.
I know he stated there was some perceived instability but that's not very descriptive. So I have no idea if this was the problem or if this is unique to me.

Majorr :((

so, i was just playin with my phone. As usual. And then today, out of the blue, the phone restarts. At first i thought it was a hard reset, but then i cant even click next in the startup thing.
So i go into cwm, factory reset and fix permissions. Nothing else. And i get past the setup. And i go to download all the apps i lost, but after downloading it, i attempt to run it, but it force closes. I also try to fix permissions again, but it still force closes.
Currently running we are legends kh2 audiophile. Kh2 modem and dr honks kg4 bali kernel.
If there is anything i can do so that i dont have to start from scratch? if there is, tell me and id appreciate it. If not, i guess ill just have to start over. Thanks once again.

That's very strange. First time I've heard of that, so far. I think your best bet would be to do a full wipe though. Maybe backup your apps through Titanium as well.
On a more random note, please make the titles more specific as to the problem you're having. There's been a good number of threads from you with very vague titles. Most people tend to ignore threads like that.
Alright thankssss. I didnt know really what to name this.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA Premium App
Bkoon is right. I almost past this one.
Sounds like something corrupted on the phone. A reflash would probably solve it.

Screen freeze on wake

I recently flashed weapon g2x rom. Everything was cool til I woke my phone and tried unlocking it but the screen was unresponsive. I do a battery pull phone starts up up and screen is fine. Screen goes to sleep so I wake it up and try sliding to unlock but its unresponsive. Please help. BTW I am not putting any blame on weapon rom Dev team.

Did you properly wipe before you flashed the ROM? Is this happening on a clean install? (No apps)?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Followed the install instructions verbatim. BTW I was stock GB before flashing. Happened before I dloaded any apps. Now it freezes when making calls. When I take the phone away from mg ear the screen is unresponsive.

You might have a defective device. Does it tend to get hot whenever it locks up? How long have you had this issue for?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Flashed the rom 3 days ago and issue started today. Had this phone for 3 months. Doesn't get hot or even noticeably warm. I got the go locker app with ics lockscreen. After i wake it up its unresponsive for about 30 seconds then the backlight dims and becomes responsive again. Weird. Maybe restore back to froyo(nandroid)? Thanks for your replies.

Yep that is what he means. If you were on Froyo you may need to do the update and get the current Baseband.
Okay I'll do that and see what happens. Thanks guys

Hey this may sound silly but if it's only the lockscreen not responding and you stating you are using the ics lockscreen, did you try with the default lockscreen to rule that out first?

Not silly at all. I tried the original lockscreen that came with weapon rom. I would wake the phone with no response but with go locker LS the screen responds after 30 seconds of unresponsiveness. Its weird but I don't think its a hardware issue. I'll post back after I restore back to Froyo. Thanks again guys
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Yeah i agree, don't think it's a hardware issue. Restoring back or trying another rom would be a good test. Another question..are you using setcpu or any other app with a screen off profile?
Edit: Went back to read all the symptoms again and i had a similar situation and it was because my phone could not handle the lower voltages on the min freq with a few kernels. Morfic upped the lower freq voltage on his kernel and it has been working perfectly since. Worth a try.
Try this one: ELPmax 20122011 (1.1GHz Battery Saver w/ voodoo sound)
Tried flashing kernel and phone froze on Trinity load screen. Restored to nandroid but no luck. Updated to stock GB but no luck. I'm starting to think might be a problem with proximity/ light sensor cause of how the phone freezes up after I pull the phone away from my face after a call. Guess I'll send it to Texas for warranty repair.
Thanks to those that tried helping.

Did you format the "system" before flashing the new rom? Weapon works with no issues for me. I would stay away from custom kernels for now, until you have isolated the issue.
I would suggest backing up your user apps using titanium backup and installing them one by one to find the issue. Let the phone run a while between installing each app. Maybe even reboot each time. Also try fix permissions.
I know nothing about Go Locker, but is sounds like that is a good place to start.
