[Q] Backup pre-loaded apps - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know how to backup the pre-installed apps that come on the TF? I have the tablet rooted so I was able to use Titanium Pro to backup pretty much everything but when I try to restore the Splashtop app for example it doesn't allow it to be installed. I have tried converting the app to a user app but that gives an error trying to convert. The splashtop app that came on the TF is unique since it seems that the market version will only do 1024x768 and the pre-loaded version can do 720p.
Is it possible to backup the pre-loaded apps so that they can be reinstalled at a later date?

[APP] Mybackup pro

One of my favourite programs, never fails.
I have one question though. The program can backup both apk and data if you have root. But if it is restored, is it also shown in the market place?
Anyone with experience?
I know titanium backup has "market doctor" and tells the market which apps you have installed so you may get updates... but i dunno about that program!
Maybe you can run titanium market doctor after installed apk+data with mybackp pro?
Is paid version of titanium required for market doctor to work?

Yes. (Well, I believe the paid version is required for Market Doctor) I have the paid versions of both, but only use Titanium backup. I would only use My Backup Pro if I wanted to back up my call log and messages. It does not back up apps in app-private. Titanium Backup does everything fast and better.
I mailed the devolper to backuppro and he replied that his backup will be reflected in the market as well.
So I guess, since backup pro never failed and is as easy to use as it gets, I will only use this one.
Re: Mybackup pro
Yes, they show back up in the market if the application was downloaded from the market. I use mybackup pro all the time since I flash roms a lot, works great and never failed me. Sometimes though it takes while to show up in the market or may need a second reboot.

If you have root, you can allow mybackuppro to save the market link so that when you restore, it shows up in your market place. It works and is amazing

Restore Market Links without Ti Backup

Hey folks, I thought I'd share a nice free fix...
I recently switched to CM7 on my Sammy Fascinate, and restored my apps (and some data) using Titanium Backup Free Edition. Well, as most of you may know, this is will not create links between apps and Google Market when apps are installed using this method. I know there is a "Market Doctor" feature in the Pro version of Ti Backup, but I am cheap and stubborn! Well, it turns out that if you log into Google "Play" on a computer and do a remote app installation (pick an app that isn't already installed on your device), the link will be restored for all apps on your device! Super easy...and best of all? FREE! Enjoy

Titanium backup to transfer apps from phone

Hi,
just unlocked and rooted my tf700 and have installed TB. If i restore from a backup on my phone, I presume I'm gonna get the mobile version of apps rather than tablet.
When I then go on the market would it update to the correct versions?
Thanks
Whatever you backed up is what you'll have on the tablet.
I haven't seen any option in Market (Play) to update to the tablet version.
Play is not that 'smart' so you'll have to do the search yourself.
If you use the same log in info on your tablet you should be able to see what you've paid for and/or downloaded to your phone.

Yeh,,thats what I ended up doing. Just a pain that I will have to enter login details etc for everythg again!
as the first post says. Just depends how the apps is designed. I did it for MLB At Bat 2012. In the backup, it was designed for tablets, so no magnifying that the TF700T does with other apps.
I did exactly this, brought my backup folder from my droid razr to my tablet and restored user apps only, with data. I have not had any problems so far. The apps seem to automatically detect screen res. There are few apps I'm sure have specific tablet versions, just not any I use. Only difference is I use the app manager in Rom Toolbox Pro, it has always worked better for me restoring apps across different roms and devices.

Just wondering if I'd backed up apps and data via Google whether the transition would be more seamless...

[Q] Basic Q - where are paid apps stored + backup

As a new Android user with the samsung I have just downloaded and paid for my first App from the Play Store.
How do I back it up in case I need to restore it in the future?
Where is the app stored? I downloaded Sketchbook Pro but when I look in the folder that has been created there are no files!
Uset Titanium Backup for data. Play remembers that you purchased The app, so it probably even restores itself if you eg reset your device.

No need to backup, really. Play Store will have it for you when you reset your device so you can install it again and on as many devices as you want as long as they use your email address.
If you are root. go to /system/ app/ this is where they usually are . Some apps use your personal media space to share data.. like in .. /sdcard/android/???? somtimes this is a folder called obb.. Sometimes the /sdcard could be / data/ sorry i do not yet have this tablet but looking forword to getting it . As soon as i get my refund for the two nexus 7 defective devices i sent back..
What about apps like Plague inc. which have in app purchases?

As long as you purchase from Google play and use the same email account, Google will remember the in-app purchases too. I purchased an app that had an in-app option which i also bought, installed the same app on two devices i.e.tablet and phone and had no issues including the in-app aspect.
App backup and restore works fine for me, just backing up the app but not the data.
Aside from the fact that your purchases are tied to your Google account as they said, you can use AirDroid (which is really really handy) to pull APK files from your device and make back-up copies on your PC. Just don't, you know, distribute them.

I use ES Taskmanager and ES Exlorer to backup and access my apps. It allows you to select where you want to save your backups and it gets all the apps I have tried including purchased apps like Sketchbook Pro. Then I like to copy the backed up apps and store them elsewhere for safe keeping in case for some reason that app gets dropped from where I got it or it is replaced with a version I don't like. BTW you don't need to know where the app is ES Taskmanager will find them. Note some apps when you find where they are they are listed with odd names like "vnz-1111881564.apk" for Kindle reader so knowing where they are does not really help all the time but ES Taskmanager shows the name you will recognize.

[Q] Best way to backup game saves/data?

So I have a rooted Asus Transformer (TF101), and I have several games on it that I've made quite a lot of progress in. I was wondering if there was some sort of app or something I could use to back up the save games/data across device reformats. When I went from JB 4.2 to JB 4.3, I thought I had used Titanium Backup correctly, and ended up losing nearly 2 months of progress in several games. Does anyone know if I need to have the Pro version of TB or if I just used it incorrectly? Or even another alternative?
I used Titanium backup (free) several times and never had any issue. Make sure to save apps+data and if device is rooted it should work. Some software for pc (such as Moroboro) can backup data but it don't always work, and this one is pretty invasive.
You can just backup the app data with google in sync settings
I use titanium also
Hmm... I'll have to give it another go after work and class then, and check out the google syncing, thanks for the replies.
another question, somewhat related:
Is it possible to use TB to restore saved data to a non-rooted device if I decide to switch the games to something else?
Titanium backup
