Xoom HC 3.2 how to root - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Motorola xoom with 3.2 on it I have never rooted this and recently for the past week or so I've been looking for a way to root it but it seems you have to be on 3.1 or 3.0 if somebody could or has found a way to root it on 3.2 if you could give me a link to that tutorial or tell me how to do it it will greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance to anyone who tries to help me with this.

Thread moved to Q&A. Good luck. I suggest looking at the stickies in Development and General to get started.

Check the first thread under Xoom General (Root Heaven) for rooting all versions including 3.2.

Help with rooting and custom kernal

Hello
Im pretty familiar with gingerbread and run custom roms on my desire hd but am struggling with where to start with my xoom. Are there any simple guides or one click rooting tools. What do I need to do to install a custom kernal etc etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
What version do you have? Wifi only or 3g plus wifi? Are you currently running 3.0.1 or have you gotten the ota for 3.1? Are you familiar with using ADB? The answers to these questions will help this community help you.

There's plenty of info on the Development Board, including setp by step. As was said though, tell us which Xoom you have etc, etc.

WiFi Root help please

I have a XOOM running the new 4.0.3, IML77, with kernel version 2.6.39.4-gf03a679, [email protected] #1.
I have rooted many devices in the past, including this same XOOM when it was on Honeycomb, have followed every guide I could find, but have, so far, been unsuccessful in rooting this thing.
Can someone point me to a step-by-step guide please?
also, when I'm, finally rooted, what is the easiest way to enable full SD CARD capabilities (read/write/etc)?
Thanks so much in advance.

n00b help with rooting my xoom...

I have never rooted a tablet or phone before, but I am not stupid when it comes to hacking and modifying electronics. I just have some questions since I have been trying to root my xoom yesterday with no luck. First off, my xoom is running off of 4.0.4, which I believe is ice cream sandwich. I did not update to jelly bean yet because I do not know if that has protection against rooting. I also have an 8 GB micro sd card.
I first tried using Lord AIO tools to make it easy, and it worked for unlocking my bootloader but not for rooting. I was also using this guide, but it is outdated and I am also confused about a few things.
First off, it seems like everyone uses CWM Recovery to root, but obviously it needs to be rooted before you can install the Recovery tool. Is that why you have to first install the "fastboot flash recovery eos-recovery-r6.img" file? Also, will anything not work now that I am on 4.0.4? If anyone can give me a noob guide just like the one above, but for 4.0.4 it would be greatly appreciated. Also any tips would help.
I know I have more questions, but I have to go to a friends baby shower so when I get back I will post any new questions I have. Thanks for any help and tips you guys have!

Thanks alot, read the post. I will have to wait until at least Tomorrow to try this, seems the goo.im site servers are on overload. Reading into it they seem to have been having trouble with equipment costs and such. This guide is much more informative than any others I have seen so I can't wait to try it! Thanks again.

how to root mz617 droid xyboard 10.1 with ice update

I can't find any thread that points to rooting droid xyboard 10.1 verizon 4g LTE model with ics update. I have the verizon xyboard 10.1 mx617 32 gb version in 4G LTE . I just got an ICS update but I don't see any info in rooting the device. if such method exists, please point me to the right direction.
Thanks in advance
Please post questions in the Q&A section. Thanks!
Thread moved.
I guess either no one wants to help me or no root option is available for this device on ICS at the moment.

I used the DroidRazrUtility (from Rosenberg I believe) one click today...was on ICS leak, flashed back to HC (donated to runandhide05 for the fast-boot files) and used Rosenberg's Utility to root, Version 1.80. You can find the fast-boot files in Xoom General here in XDA (if you need them). I Googled Roseberg's Utility, extracted, ran the .bat....rest is history.
i hope this helps you.

edit: sorry, after i flashed back to HC i updated my XYB to ICS from Motorola...THEN used the Utility...
thanks but it sounds complicated and risky to go back to HC and then root and then reflash to ics. I want a simple ICS root. but thanks, you are the only member who took interest in my thread.

I am so grateful for this site and for people like you. I have wanted to root the xyboard MZ 617 for a long time now. However, I cannot find a reliable method and am very new to rooting. I have been an avid android believer since the first itteration, but have never ventured into the wonderful world of rooting. I have done a lot of research and like that you use Rosenbergs method because he seems like one of the most respected devs out there. What I need, if you please, is a simplified breakdown of EXACTLY what I will need to do in order to root this device. It has been running ICS for a while. I have had a ton of glitches and hardware/software issues. Some of which were repaired by Motorola and the rest Verizon and Moto have pointed the finger at each other and the middle finger at me. I will be quite grateful for your help. Thank you

[Q] Motorola Xoom Wifi MZ604 Australian Model Custom Rom

Firstly I apologise if this question has been posted and answered before, I can't locate it on these forums.
I have an Australian release Motorola Xoom Wifi MZ604 with a stock ROM version 4.0.4 which has started running slowly and I want to update it to the latest Android. This is my first crack at messing around with Android operating systems, but I have plenty of experience with Windows. I found many tutorials on this forum about rooting and installing custom roms but most of these posts are from around 2012 and most of the important file links such as Xoom One Click and Xoom Universal Root no longer exist. If anyone is still using Xoom can you please repost the tools required and let me know which Custom ROM works best so I dont have to reinvent the wheel. Any step by step you can point me in the direction of would also be helpful. Thanks :good:
After a lot of XDA and Google searching I got the files and info needed and now have a Motorola Xoom MZ604 Wifi running KitKat 4.4.4. The folloiwing XDA sites were of assisstance http://forum.xda-developers.com/newreply.php?do=postreply&t=1477024 & http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2580256
