360 Controller ? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Do you need the wired controller for it to work ?. I have a wireless pad with a plug and charge kit.

i plugged my wireless adapter into the transformer yesterday and had no trouble playing super Mario on snesoid. This is the wireless adapter they sell for connecting a wireless controller to your PC.

I purchased one of those off ebay but it restarts my transformer (works fine with my PC). I'm pretty sure its a fake.

what controller?
obviously using a wired controller? or are you using standard controller with the usb charging cable? did you try and OG xbox controller?
Maybe you need a usb 3 adaptor to get it working, just like for charging.

I'd be interested to see if works through the dock to see if its a driver issue or an issue using an adapter through the charging cable. Does the charge port output any power?
Are the lights on the controller on or off?

Wait... this is still not clear from your answers. Are you using:
A) Wireless X360 controller attached to USB via the Plug and Play charge kit
B) Wired X360 controller
If you are using A, you cannot communicate to the device via the USB connection. That is for charging only. No control signals can pass to the controller using that connection.
If you are using B there should be no cable to replace since the wired controller is hardwired.
to my understanding, only a true wired 360 controller will work. the wireless through plug and play or windows dongle will not work. i can attest to that as i've tried both with no luck.
The windows wireless dongle works on rhe xoom. I don't see why it doesn't work on my asus
I have the true wired controller and used that female adapter from amazon and it didn't work at all.

I have a wired Xbox360 controller and it doesn't work on the TF101.
I have the keyboard dock and 3.1.
When plugged in, the green lights flash but it's not picked up in any apps as an input method.
I think the 360 support may be broken.

+1 My wired 360 controller does not work when plugged into my dock with 3.1. However, my PS3 controller with attached usb cable does work
i have tried 2 generic usb contols from GAME, both light up and are powered, but neither show any input in any apps or games.
has anyone here got any game control to work yet?
this is a bug with the transformer
wired 360 controllers work with the xoom. this is an asus bug.
please report it to asus by calling them:
http://service.asus.com/callus.html
or emailing them:
http://vip.asus.com/eservice/techserv.aspx
as of now they're not even acknowledging this. the only way to get it fixed is to get it some visibility by reporting it.
You need to make sure your using a keybiard dock and are running updated stock asus firmware/Rom and the xbox controller is fully wired, the detatchable usb charging wire is only for charging, my wired madcatz controller will work natively while my wireless controller pluged in with the usb cable will not

Hooking up to DVI monitor?

One of the displays I need to connect with the Transformer only have dsub and dvi connections. Has anybody hooked up their tablet through an hdmi/dvi converter?
I have no hdmi cables to test out, and didn't want to spend the couple of bucks for a cable that I have no use for.
Good question. Bumping to get attention.

I haven't received mine yet, but I think a mini-HDMI to HDMI cable -> HDMI to DVI adapter -> DVI cable should work.
It works for me, at least, I'll just be leaving the DVI cable on my desk and taking the HDMI cable with me when I leave work.
I'll post my results when it arrives on monday.
Edit: May just be able to put the adapter on the monitor and skip the cable altogether.
Like I said, I'll post

I have bought a dvi to HDMI converter to try this out, but have not been near a monitor with dvi input all week. I'll update you on Monday, when I return to work.
I appreciate it guys.
=)
It will work fine, since all the signals are digital. Yes it really is that simple.
Except that I haven't seen a single mention as to whether the TF is using HDCP for it's HDMI output. If that's the case then a DVI converter will not work.

I'm pretty sure HDCP has to do with the monitor/tab not the i/o. My Dell 2407WFP is HDCP, has no HDMI (DVI/VGA only) and my TF works with it.

.im facing that problem now with my computer monitor. I hooked up the pad by two seperated ways-first with a dvi2hdmi adapter connected to a simple dvi cable, didnt work.second try was with a special 5 meters dvi2hdmi cable.again.didn't work. I don't know what to do? I tried it with another dvi lcd and it just saying that the monitor went to sleep mode.
Important to say that mirroring to a TV LCD or plasma works great whitout any problem.
What's the dvi problem?
i tried this with a samsung monitor. using dvi-to-hdmi-to-minihdmi adapter. i don't know if it's just 1 adapter too many, but it doesn't seem to work.
I don't need a signature.

Didn't work for me. The monitor just doesn't see the Transformer. Might be a dodgy adapter because the HDMI cable works fine.
Didn't work for me either with 3 different types of Dells at work. Just registered after lurking for weeks just to comment on this issue!
I can't post the URLs as a noob but the cable and converter are from Amazon.
I have newer Dells at home I can test with but that was not the point...
Drats!!!
Any kind of hacks to get around whatever is preventing this from happening...??
same problem here. got a dvi > hdmi adapter, connected with a 1.8 meter mini hdmi > hdmi cable to a samsung monitor..
no screen image...
connecting direct to my tv (hdmi) works fine!
edit: read some stuff on the xoom forums about a 5 volt line that's missing in the mini hdmi out... and the need for a hdmi>vga convertor in some cases.. (expensive)
Strange thing is, i connected my popcorn 110 to the monitor and it works flawlessly .. both got hdmi 1.3a ..

Connecting Infinity to HDTV...

I recently received an HDMI to Micro-HDMI cord, and was excited to test it on my 37" Panasonic.
I have tried every combination of turning on and off the TV/Tablet first etc...and it STILL will not show up on my TV. It's acting like there is nothing connected at all. No prompts.
So...what am I doing wrong? The cord I bought was 3 bucks on Amazon, so it may be a knock off or something. Buy a new cord? Any help is appreciated. Half the reason I bought this thing was to watch movies on my hdtv.

My micro HDMI cord only worked on my LG when I first selected the input on my TV and then unplugged and plugged the HDMI cord back into the Infinity. Also make sure the cord is plugged ALL the way in.
When I played NetFlix on the tablet, the TV would display the video and sound, but the closed captioning stayed on the device.

I bought a Micro HDMI to HDMI cord on amazon for about 3 dollars also, it worked perfectly fine on my 42inch LCDTV Panasonic. All I had to do was connect it and change the input on the TV to the right HDMI and it worked fine. Although watching movies with subtitles didn't work so well as the subtitles was left at the tablet screen, and I couldn't turn the tablet screen off while watching movies on my TV.
when you plug in the HDMI cord, the TF700 should show some kind of "HDMI" noticifation, and will stay on when connected. If you're not seeing this, then you'll need to figure out if it's the cord or HDMI port on one of your devices. The TV, hook something else to it that used HDMI. The cord, try another cord. Monoprice has them cheap too; probably like $5 with shipping. If you're not seeing the HDMI notification after the cord, and you know they cord is good, it's your TF.

same her it works on my monitor but i have Panasonic tv and it doesn't work tried a variety of cables and no go but tried on a Toshiba TV at parents and it works.i had the prime and it work just fine
Asus really needs to add some HDMI scaling options to the TF700 to allow it to work with more TV's - I'm assuming these issues are because the TF700 only seems to output at it's native resolution, which most devices don't seem to like... I'll do some testing with my Toshiba 1080p TV today, just to see what I can find out as well and report any findings that may be useful.

I've connected the TF700T to be Panasonic 55TV50 Plasmass HDTV and to a Vizio 16" LCD TV. No issues.
Connecting to 2 Vizio tvs and a Hitachi no problem.
Our 58 inch Samstung plasma only sees the tablet connection on HDMI 3 which is the recommended port for a monitor hook up from a pc.

There is a HDMI encryption called HDCP that basically makes it more annoying to use HDMI than it should. Some TV's do not have HDCP enabled. Since the Infinity FORCES HDCP chances are whats happening is the TV doesnt know what to do with the encrypted signal and the tablet doesnt want to play nice so the TV will work.
Unfortunate for you, im guessing your TV is not compatible. Sorry for the bad news mate.
There have also been problems with people trying to use HDMI - DVI adapters and connect into DVI monitors, since a lot of (older) DVI devices also dont support HDCP or sometimes the connector itself doesnt have the right connections to make HDCP work often it all just doesnt work properly. Maybe in time there will be a hack to disable HDCP, until then theres not much you can do.

Again pileot... HDCP has NOTHING to do with it. Find me a monitor/tv that does have HDMI that does not have hdcp enabled..... they don't exist anymore.
If it has HDMI... then chances are 99.999999% that you have an HDCP compliant monitor.
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090922221218AAyrnYz
DVI will not work because the 5v signal that is needed for the monitor to recognize that something is connected to it-- is not sent with our tablets.
Seems this question is repeated as soon as it falls off the first page......

TF700T HDMI out on Samsung UE46ES8005

Hi.
I thought on sharing my findings on how i solved getting my infinity to work with my led-tv.
I have tried all kind of stuff before this but i have a stubborn samsung that doesn't want to recognize the tab.
I got some tips from within xda that infinity lacks the 5v for hdmi out so the tv can sence that something is hocked up.
i bought a Andersson HDMI Switch 4x1 that has a poweradaptor to try this out.
It wasn't an easy go by just hooking things up.
so i tried hocking my laptop up to the switch and got the picture on the tv, then i connected the tab on the second hdmi port and the infinity recognized that the hdmi was attached, i tried to switch ports with the remote to the hdmi switch but that failed, so i disconnected the cable to the laptop and VOILA i got the tv to show the tablets screen on the TV screen, i can now scale the picture and everything works great.
If i leave the switch powered on and connected to the tv i can connect and disconnect the tab without problems.
If i power of the switch i have to go through the same procedure again to fool the tv to recognize that samething is hooked up to the hdmi port.
Hope this helps some of you with the same problem and stubborn tv sets.
Best regards
Mackis

Weird. I have a powered monoprice HDMI switch connected to a Denon Receiver, which connects to my Sony TV. I've had no problems with the TF700 Infinity being recognized. I also took the Infinity on a cruise and connected it to a Samsung 720p LCD TV with no problems. I believe that this would discount the theory that the Infinity doesn't have the right HDMI signal/voltage.
I assume that you tried changing HDMI cables? Perhaps the TF700 that you have has a defective HDMI port.

That was my first guess but after i read here on xda that even the cables can be defective i bought one more, then i tried different manifactures LG and philips lcd-tv worked with the infinity without problems, so i guess i have a tv that is too new. I contacted Samsung and they are looking in to it. Not that i have high hopes, for now im a happy camper solving it this way.

Yes i know, i think its weird to, but i think its the 5v issue that my samsung model don't sence.
On the LG i have to change hdmi port with the remotecontrol to the tv for it to work or power it down and up again otherwise its not working. On the samsung lcd on my work i have no problems at all but it is older tv models. If i could get hold of some other tv model that anyone here have problems hooking up the infinity with i would be happy to try this solution and see if it works.

it works, you need a 5pin mhl adapter. (the one for galaxy s2)
it's pointless tho, you will get stuck at 1080p30 on full hd tvs, making it choppy for playing anything other than 30 fps videos
I've used a generic USB-HDMI cable with the Relay and it works. The Relay does NOT use Mini or Micro HDMI. It outputs HDMI over USB. This is called MHL. You can read about it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_High-Definition_Link
The cable requires power to work. You must plug your charger into a passthrough port on the cable. The cable appears to have some active circuitry to get HDMI from the 4 pins of USB.

Any advice of where tu buy in UK?
Proper seller from ebay or amazon or any internet shop (bad experience with MHL cable from china, it's working somehow but discharging phone and sometimes no voice).
I've seen some Samsung cables for 99 pounds which is mad, I would like to spend about 10 or so...
Thanks

the discharging is normal. apparently, it is very intensive for the phone, so much that it discharges while charging. as for the sound, dunno, may be a defective unit.
anyway, MHL 1.0 is crap. it's like the beta version of the thing. mhl 2.0 and slimport should work as intented, but right now only S4 and nexus 4 have them
