[Q] hardest reset? f*cked up rooting - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I was working on rooting my TF with this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125714
Unfortunately something went wrong, on step 4C, restarting, it first booted like normal, but then showed an only stripes screen. Tried several thing with CWM and reboots but didn't help me. In fact only brought me further away.
I can now only get it to boot into APX mode.
Is there any way I can get it back to working or to boot normal again?
And if not: is there a way of giving a complete hard reset?
O, by the way: I posted here because to the forum I am n00b and therefore can't post in developer forum.

Were you on 3.2? If so you need to read this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16420142&postcount=571
Also what's your build number? You serial should start with a B follow by a number.
Somewhere during B70 build the SBK was changed and NVFlash method no longer work.

Had seen this post already.
Tried that already as well, but didn't really help me.
Don't have any clue on the build numberr at this point, since I can't get anywhere in the system. tablet bought beginning of July, don't know if the B70 was out at that point yet?

Look on the bottom of your tablet for a ticker or the box that it came in should have the serial number. If you bought it at the beginning you're probably good.

Have checked the box: it's a B60 model, not B70.
Still I don't know how to get it going again?

Hey there, i've got the same problem, it seems the job is harder using Windows, so im currently downloading Ubuntu and going to run it inside windows using this http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/windows-installer , then im going to try this guide, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198303 , will let you know how it goes, 5 mins remaining of my Ubuntu download =)
Have rooted and unroot my tf with nvflash, very easy and simple to do. All there is to it is to connect usb, install nv flash device run bat file wait 5 min and done
-sent from my trans1
I would start by checking if your TF is not one of the latest "unrootable" batch... serial numbers beginning with B70/B80...

Right, that's the way to start. In my opinion, this is the best and easiest possibility to root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1185104
Would this be the serial if so is it compatible?? Thanks

No, look at the bottom of tab, to the right of the charging port, should start with B60 or B70 or B80.
If its a B70 or B80 rooting will be more lengthy process.
As I can see you've got a WW version just like me,down there is a link for rootkit, which is easy to use. The only problem is that I deleted the stock boot.img but the other is working perfectly (which is containing the CWM), it's a windows rootkit, and you just have to put your device into APX mode power button+vol-up for 3 secs, start the rootkit and it will say you what to do.

I've got a B70!!!
Is it still possible...

Can't root BAOKA

God I hate making these kinds of threads. It's the "I'm new and I need help and I'll probably never talk to you guys again after you've answered all my questions" kind of thread...
But yea, I'm gonna ask anyway and hope someone's gonna help me out.
I just got the TF101 for my bday. I've been trying to root it for the past few hours. I've read a few threads, and haven't gotten a clear answer to whether my model can be rooted or not.
Model Number starts with BAOK, which is weird because I've noticed everyone elses models are b60, 70, and 80. (Or I guess it's serial number since the little sticker says s/n"
Anyways I've tried two methods so far. I used the ViperMod Primetime and BRK Asus root toolkit v. 7.1.
The root toolkit did not work at all, I couldn't get passed the 4th tab. Something about not being able to communicate with tablet.
The ViperMod Primetime, went all the way through, but my TF was not rooted after completing the operation. It basically just rebooted it a few times. I installed the drivers and turned off auto sync. TF was also not connected to dock.
Anyways...I'm tired and my head hurts...Can someone please help me if they can? Thanks.
thats the wrong number... there are 2 serial numbers on the device the internal and the hardware the one that actually matters is the hardware and will be on a sticker on the bottom of your tablet. If it is bellow B70(which i doubt) then use NVFlash if it is above that use razorclaw
ok your serial number is in line with b70,b80,b90,ba0,bb0....etc hexadecimal i think it is, but thats not to important other than the reason the brk rootkit didnt work is because nvflash wont work on the newer devices, and the reason vipermod didnt work is because your not a tf prime.
that being said you need to search and read i know theres alot here and sometimes its intimidating but theres alot of info here your gonna want and need really.
the only method that will more than likely work for you will be nachoroot in the dev section...
i highly advise you knowing what ur doing, if you do something wrong you can brick ur tab and because its a newer deice the nvflash tools are locked and unavailable to fix it...good luck
Thanks for the advice guys.
I'll try razorclaw...I hope I don't F up lol.
@Mrevankyle: If this works, you should come to Vancouver and I'll buy u a beer

he is right nachoroot will work more likely if you are on a newer firmware. i haven't had to root for a good 6 months so i am not really up to date on what is working and what is not
I am having trouble getting the id to be 0.
I've done step 1 like 5 times and I still get this "uid=2000(shell) gid=2000(shell), etc..."
Anything I'm missing here?
Fixed that problem. I just shut down and restarted my TF.
But now I'm getting another problem.
After I type "adb push su /system/xbin/su"
It says su directory not found.
I went through the next steps anyways...and SURPRISE! The rooting didn't work...
So I retried it, now when I type "adb remount", it says "remount failed: Operation not premitted"
Arrrgh this is so frustrating! I've been working on this thing for 4 hours now...
id bet if you read thru that nachoroot thread you would find the answers you need, i havent used nachroot yet so i think that would be ur best bet.

Did you also get id=0 at the point:<if id is 0 / root then continue, else start over> ?
You can try Vipermod. It does the same but easier.

[Q] So today I updated CWM using ROM Manager...

And now I can't boot into recovery, it simply freezes at the "Asus" screen.
A quick flip through the forums reveals that it wasn't the smartest thing I have ever done. I can cold boot into Linux and the transformer works fine but I'd like to get everything up and operational.
I tried using the RecoveryInstaller.apk from gnufabio to no avail. Could someone perhaps provide some assistance on what I should do next? It should be noted that I don't have the faintest clue on how to do the 'adb push' operations I've read about.
TIA
PERI
Use my tool, just ignore the rooting stuff since I'm assuming you're already rooted.
Everytime the tab reboots during the tool, make sure to be hold down Volume-Down and cold boot into Android, then continue the script. Once it has flashed recovery you can close it, it doesn't need the root stuff.
Don't use ROM manager
ToD
Hi and thanks for the help and quick response.
I downloaded PERI and followed the instructions except for the part regarding SU as I already have it installed. For each reboot I ended up having to cold boot into linux.
Unfortunately, the final step where the .bat reboots while I hold the vol -, then hit vol +, gets stuck at the "Booting recovery kernel image" part and will not progress.
I'm not currently running ICS but gingerbread. I probably should have mentioned that earlier, sorry.
What should I try next?
Peri only works on ICS.
Now why on Earth are you running GB on the transformer??? Where did you even get a GB rom?
Do you mean Honeycomb?
Ooops (again)! Yes, you are correct. It was a Honeycomb ROM. An old version of Revolver.

whats your tf's serial number?
Hi,
The Model is TF101 and the serial starts with B60. Does that help? I know that there are several variants of the transformer out there and I'm not sure what the differentiating markings are.
Nvflash for Sbkv1 is now your best bet, since you have a b60 you can use it on windows fine, good luck :]
Search 'Nvflash unbricking released' and you'll find it.
NV Flash worked like a charm. I really appreciate it, I don't think I would have found that program on my own.

Nextbook Next7P YF0511 series dmesg

Hi all - newb here, first post. I just picked up a pair of Nextbook Next7P tablets off eBay, cheap. One is stuck in a bootloop at the poining finger screen. It doesn't get past this screen, and when the spinning logo stops, then it just starts again, and just keeps repeating this action. The other had a black screen, and thankfully, I had already read in another post in these forums where someone suggested using a LED flashlight on the screen. I was able to see the clock on the lock screen, found the unlock icon, got it unlocked, and eventually found my way to the screen settings, and was able to adjust the backlighting. So now this one tablet is working normally.
Yesterday, I hooked this tablet up to my laptop, after setting the USB Debugging on. I was able to "pull" the system folder and the data folder, so those are now copied to my laptop. I also used the command:
adb shell dmesg > dmesg
I have attached the dmesg file here.
I don't know how to get out of the boot loop on that one tablet, and I think the answer is that I will have to load a new rom. However, since my serial number starts with YF0511, this means my tablet is an early one, and the roms do not work on this tablet.
So my goal here is to find out what specifically is different about these early models, and maybe we would be able to develop or mix a rom using the kernel or modules from this rom, and putting them into the rescue kit, or into a rooted rom.
Maybe someone with a later model could use the adb and post their dmesg file, and we can compare to see what's different. In the long run it will benefit all of us who have early tablets, we could upgrade the roms and maybe even get ICS going.
Update ...
I've made some headway since my last post above. I found a rom for the YF0811 serial number range by Finless, and I decided to go ahead and try this on my boot looped tablet. The rom worked, and appears to be the same rom as my other tablet, which is the original stock rom - never been updated.
So although my original intention was to get some kind of rom development going for the YF0511, there is really no need to do this, the YF0811 roms are the roms to use.
I have seen many posts by people with YF0511 serial numbers, and in virtually every case, they were stuck because they couldn't find a rom for their serial number range. I do hope this will help someone get their tablet working again.
help please

hello,
I am using next 7p with serial number YF0711 since I bought it I tried to unlock it but all effort has failed, can you please tell me how to unlock it and which rom to use? my email add is [email protected]
khalifat, if you check over on the freaktab forums, in the rom developers kitchen, there are some nextbook roms by Finless Bob. If you go there, you will see in the list Nextbook 7 Premium #0811 Custom Rom with Market 3.4.4 by Finless Version 1.4. I don't think I am permitted to post a link to that.
Anyways, if you get there, that custom rom should work for you. There is also on the same page, further down, a #0811 stock rom. The stock rom will also work, but of course will be lacking in any enhancements.
I have run both of these successfully on my Nextbook 7 premium, with serial YF0511... and everything was working, including wifi. I used the stock rom to get my tablet out of a boot loop, then I tried the rooted rom.
Edit: the rom download contains the rockchip flashing tool and instructions.

[Q] Indipad 10" Unblock or ROM

Hi, just recently some student tablets started to drop in my shop with problems, the latest one was an Indipad 10" made by LGS Caribbean, that is ALL the info I know about it since there are no labels anywhere in the tablet or the box, my guess is a generic Chinese re-branded tablet and it looks like is running ICS 4.0.1 but can't be sure since is locked with a number password. The client brought the tablet in cause her child was playing with it and activated the password screen lock and of course the child doesn't remember what he typed in. :silly:
I'm either looking to unlock the tablet, factory reset it or re-flash stock rom.
I already tried using the volume +/-/power combo for the recovery but it takes me to the android boot error screen, so I guess it has no recovery installed or it was deleted on purpose by the company. Also tried entering a lot of failed passcodes to see if it brings the account recovery option, but is a no go.
Did a Google search to see if I could also find a rom to flash on it but since I'm limited on the info about it nothing has come up.
Many thanks for any help.
No one?
Same thing right here. But i can tell you it is running android 4.0.4, and the build number is: crane_m1003h6-eng 4.0.4 IMM76D 20120921. Of course as you may know the 20120921 is the date so my guess is that it depends on how many updates those tablets have received already. Anyway, the recovery works, cus i have one in here working and you can access recovery from inside android(when you go to factory reset it gives you an option to do so, i did and it works perfect). But again just like you said, It wont work using hardware buttons. I was trying to find someone who can contact me from LGS Carribean but no luck at all. Just nothing, i have a working INDIPAD at this moment and thats how im telling you whats the firmware version and build. Like you said on your post, its an issue dealing with generic tablets it really is. I have not found even a similar enough firmware for the tablet to flash, but i can confirn you can use LiveSuitPack to flash them. Only issue is that i havent found a firmware to do so lol.... And ive look just about everywhere. Im going to run USB deview to check what the real hardware is and brand, if im able to find something ill let you know M8
Many thanks, client called in today and told her I'm still looking for a solution. Will wait for what you find.
Did you get this resolved?
Not yet, @home atm, so I'll check tomorrow for an update.
Seems we still on the black
Yes we are, so far i can tell you the processor is an A10, so its an A10 device. It shows as T10a for manufacturer, but so far thats all i can tell you. There might be a way to pull the firmware image from a working Indipad so that we have something to flash on the password protected ones. But for now, we are all waiting on something
Have same issue

My mother-in-law is an English teacher and has several students with the same issue with a password they forgot or they locked the tablet on accident. I haven't been able to factory reset, but when you mentioned T10a, a quick Google search led me to show that EKEN makes T10a tablets.
I hope I'm not leading you down a rabbit trail, but here is their support site with manuals and firmware downloads
Also, searching on XDA apparently there is a way to get CWM on the EKEN T10a and instructions to flash to their latest ROM.
I haven't had a lot of experience with flashing ROMs, but I have flashed my personal devices before. So please let me know if this is possible in any way. I wouldn't want to mess something up. Well, I hope this helps.

Sweet, I'll do a hardware comparison tomorrow with EKEN T10a and see if they are identical devices (at least from the outside), if they match I'll just try that. The device is a brick atm so it doesn't matter trying to experiment with it.

The one for T10A, version "T10 G-SENSOR6225".
I also had a bit of a problem at first trying to boot it into flash mode, but what I did was go to the device manager in Windows and saw that there where 2 copies of the special driver that the "LiveSuitPack_version_1.09_20111101.exe" installs, one with the checkmark like they said, the other I assumed was the tablet connected, so I deleted the one with checkmark and tried again, this time it went through and started the flashing process which took less than 2 minutes.
Straight after attaching the cable, and whilst still holding down the volume+ button, start pressing the tablet power button repeatedly. This (slightly frenzied) procedure puts the tablet into update mode.

That was the tricky part, to make it boot into flash mode, it has to be fast between connecting and starting to press the buttons, I took like a 1 second delay between the two things.
Also, got to point out I didn't do the CWM or the root mod, just did the firmware flash cause that's what the client wanted.
Its allright buddy, and thanks. Thing is that i was trying to update it as it said on the Ekken website. But the tablet didnt accept the SdCard update at all. I told you it should be done using LiveSuit and yet i was afraid of bricking the device using LiveSuit ha ha.... Thanks a lot guys, case solved. It took all of us to do so but hey, we made it!!!!

Their server is kinda slow but I use Free Download Manager to download big files and speed up the download.
Also remember this was an experiment and it worked by chance, so no guarantee that it will for every indiPad out there, specially if the manufacturer changes the hardware, you should check the hardware info on the tablet just to make sure we are talking about the same tablet model or you could brick your device.
thanks bro, i know about rom experimental, i think same tablet from Puerto Rico, indiPAD, same eken t10a.
