Ok got a question ive read the form on how to unroot the nexus s 4g. I know i gots to download the images file but do i need the ota one to and do i put the image file on the sd card or what. I ve asked in the thread but no one will respond. could someone please help
What ota? It hasn't been released yet. If you're on 2.3.4 then all is good. Just flash the img files via fastboot and you're golden. Btw I also used buglesspetes method as well.

Ohh nvm I didn't fully read your post lol, how did you root your phone? Do you have the android sdk installed?

You could always just wait for somebody to release a deoxed version of the 2.3.5 OTA when it is available. It shouldn't be too long. Or just wait until someone links the 2.3.5 OTA and you can flash it like that. The only thing the OTA does is give you a dialog box directing you to the link. But if the link is provided, you could get yourself to 2.3.5 OTA like that as well.
Yes I have adb set up but I rooted it with the one click method using pda. I've tried all these methods even the one with odin

Step 1. Read
Step 2. Read
Step 3. Read
Step 4. Don't post threads asking how to root and rom when there are countless threads already covering this exact topic
Step 5. Read
Step 6. Use the Hack kit
I think you got lost at Step 1
What PG said. Being from the captivate so i am not in familar to you LOL.

Here's what I did to root mine yesterday and install a new Rom.
Only took a little bit of searching.
First you have to make sure you have the latest ota update from asus
version (8.6.5.19)
Then root using the method here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1345049
Then install cwm recovery using method here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346180
I also installed the following to make it simple to reboot to recovery:

then you can install a Rom of your choice
Worked easy as pie for me anyway
I have searched all over but have not found an easy way to unroot yet though, but i am sure there is a method.
Anybody?
Thanks ..

thx mr frog

hey ,
I have recently updated to 2.3 via KDZ method. No problems doing so , updated checked phone info and everything has gone fine. Looking to do a re-root to add a custom rom however "oneclicksuperroot" will not root the phone now , i have google'd it but have no results.
Could anyone point me in the right direction or a quick run-down of what i need to do.
Thanks for your time,
Jordan
Try this. It worked for me on v21a...
Flash zip and retry with SuperOneClick
What I did was searching xda for the newest download of superoneclick and that worked like a charm!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
Download, run as administrator and press root, done!

Hello i want to Root my captivate so i can Network Unlock it.
I tried superoneclick and it didnt worked.
Any other way to root my phone ?
If i flash CyanogenMod 9 can i unlock the phone using the Galaxy_S Unlock by Helroz on Play store ?
Usually, I'm nice, but this question has been asked way too many times. You most likely didn't search or read other posts that clearly explain how rooting is different for gingerbread. I am sure you will find out without having to look too hard.

There you go. Yes, that is one way to do it. You can also flash corn kernel; there is an option to root from recovery.

Do i have to flash the stock kernel after rooting ?
Yep...if u used Autoroot kernel.
Nope...if u flash kk4 Corn Kernel. --- i recommend v7.0A if u choose Corn.
