hi guys i m trying to upgrade my galaxy ace but while upgrading through kies shows insufficient memory required atleast 3000mb is this is sd card required memory or system memory plz help....
hmm, SDCARD
upgrading problem
guys i tried with blank 8 gb memory card but than also it shows the same insufficient memory..
Seems stupid as the Ace doesn't come with anything other than a 2GB SD. It's most likely 3GB free HARDDRIVE space so it can backup your phone and deflate the firmware.

Device has 16GB.
2GB dedicated to internal (phone)
14GB is recognized by the system as "SDCARD"
any micro SD card you insert is refer to as "external_SD"
Thanks ,, but how can i make the internal to be more than 2 GB ?? cuz it will be full after one week i will install more programs

You cannot. The system is design that way.
New programs are usually installed on the SDCARD.
Some system programs are installed on the internal when it boots up.
If you go to /setting/application/manage and list all programs, you have a list of programs that all installed.
touching each program will show where they are stored. If you want to move them, you can move to internal(phone) or USB(SDcard/external).
Programs that are installed internal or phone will boot up first. The more you have, the longer boot time.
Some application manager from market will let you choose where the app is installed.
^^ thanks ,, now i got the idea
Hey guys. I am running the miui rom but I cant download anything from the Android market. It says insufficient storage available even though I have 1gb internal space left and 14gb on sdcard. I've tried reflashing and restarting but it didn't work.
I also am having this issue.
HI, I am running low on USB storage, most of my apps are there, but in setings>Storage, it says that about 500mb of apps are in there, and about 100 mb of other stuff like media and downloads, but in the USB free storage part is says 3.55 GB, anyone help please??? I have one ROM on USB storage and a few apks but thats about it, the rest are folders and there is about 47 of them, help please as I want to install N.O.V.A, and as a bonus question, how would i install it directly to the sd card as I only have about 200-300 mb of internal storage left?

And for all the haters, that explains, why Google went for MTP and new partitioning on GN.
Not relevant

USB storage is for your personal files such as photos, videos, music, etc.
Meanwhile the 2 GB system storage is for your apps, including data and cache.
You could "move to SD card" in Settings > Applications to free up some space, but that will make your apps slightly slower (to load).
I don't know about repartitioning but that could be a possibility too.
