I'm currently on ICBINB KH1 and after flashing it I noticed I can't mount the sd card when I connect it to my computer so I can transfer files from my computer to my external sd card on my phone. I was able to do this on all Froyo ROMs.
I thought to myself maybe it's the ROM so I tried flashing back to KC1 through Odin. When I tried mounting it, it worked. So I tried flashing KG4 through Odin and tried mounting to my pc again and it wouldn't recognize it anymore again. I tried flashing KH1 through Odin as well and same issue.
Anyone else having this issue?
I'm currently reformatting my sdcard with my PC and going to see if that will fix the issue but I don't think that is the problem.
Can you access the SD card files from the ROM itself when you have GB? I wasn't ever able to, much less mount it from the computer.

Yes I can from the ROM. I can take it out the phone and use an adapter to connect also.
I guess I'll try a suggestion and go into disk management.

I just read that post too. Was coming back here to post about it. I think if you hear your computer recognize your phone (the sound when you plug the phone in) you'll be good. I've had that problem before, not only with this phone and disk management tends to fix it.

so in voodoo recovery the sd card wont stop unmounting..as soon as i want to choose a a zip from sd card it will appeared unmounted as opposed to mounted..Now my pc cant read the phone when I connect to computer..any help?
it comes out as unknown device?
go into your settings and then to sd card. unmount it. remount it and then reboot into cwm and clear cache/dalvik. then reboot recovery and try whatever it is you were trying to do.
if that doesnt work, try the following:
try to format the sd card from your phone and then let it rebuild. then reclear your cache and fix permissions. do all of this before plugging it into the computer. on the computer, uninstall your current drivers. then reboot. reinstall. reboot. plug the phone into a different usb port. let it load on the computer. disconnect and then go into cwm and see if you have the problem. make sure to back up your pics and whatnot before the format.
just a reminder, you should always eject the phone on the computer and turn off the connection on the phone before unplugging the usb cable. i think this is what happened to you and corrupted some things.

It probably did clear your dalvik. That error only means you do not have an ext partition on your sd card. It can't clear something that isn't there. Dsexton has instructions in the bible to create the partition. Did your computer recognize the phone after you did all of that?

Use the sdcard adapter and hopfully you have an sdslot on you computer. Put it in there and format it from the PC also do not do a quick format and set the allocation size to default. If you can get that done and get the phone to pick it up then format it again from there. Hope this helps and good luck ,let us know how it goes please

Hello fellow DC owners. I have a question. When I reboot my phone, more often than not, the SD card is not read and thus all of the apps on the SD card are shown as not being installed. When this happens they are also missing from my market (except if they were purchased then it shows just that). The only fix for this that I've found is to remove the SD card reboot without it then reinstall it and reboot again. The unmount SD card option in the settings doesn't work at all. It hangs up. I have tried all of the repitable SD mounting Widgets I can find to no avail. For my launcher I am using GO Launcher and I love it.
If there is any help you can give I'd appreciate it.
I am unrooted and using the GO Launcher.

never heard of this happening before... you may need to make copies of everything you have on there and format it then it should read it correctly, also does it read fine in your pc or another phone?
yes the SD card is good had it on motodroid before this checked it on pc also. This happened after EE4 build. Even tried reformat and factory reset to no avail. For several months I just moved all apparently to phone and used SD for photos and downloads. Bit ran low on memory which caused more problems.

That file will prolly fix it. Unfortunately you have to be rooted to flash it in cwm recovery. So short of trying another SD card temporarily, that's all i know to do
You should hit the thanks button for mefloump for finding and posting that file for you. Just a tip

All,
Last night my charge had trouble reading my sd card. I could not see any thing in gallery, my music players couldn't find any music, yet file expert could see everything. Ad could the computer. I copied everything off the card to the computer so the data is safe.
I've tried a new card, reformatting them in recovery, mounting them in recovery etc... all to no avail.
Anyone have any ideas as to the cause and solutions? Thanks.

What ROM are you using? Have you tried a clean install from pentafive's EP4 ODIN with imnuts' PIT file, then a reflash?

Don't know if it's a common issue within the ROM or not. I'd try posting in the thread for that ROM to see if others had this issue and have found a fix. If not, you may need to reflash to correct.
Have you messed around with an app like rescan media root or other that can stop the media scan from occuring at boot? Without the initial media scan none of the media related apps will be able to "see" the data on the card.

Nope. In fact I downloaded Rescan media to make sure I was scanning it.
Pulled the battery and the phone wouldn't boot. Took it to VZW, and they got it to boot and the SD card was recognized.
So now I'm going to take Voodoo lagfix off and load TweakStock and see if that makes any difference.
Hey everyone....I've posted many times about my infuse USB port not working to sync to my computer....so my question is this...I'm running cm7 loving it...can I put the cm9 zip on my external SD card through a card reader and flash it on my phone? Is it possible and what steps do I need to do? I would love cm9 or other roms for that matter but its not life and death.

No, it has to be on the intr sd...not the ext sd...but why can't you copy it from the ext to the inter from with in your phone?
I copy files all the time to/from my ext to inter sd....
But if you need to return to stock...
I would also put zen tool on there also to back your ROM...
Make sure you have all needed on your phone and copied over to your intr sd.....
Since yore USB is not working? Is it a hardware issue?

Try a different usb cable, different usb port, make sure the drivers are installed, enable usb debugging?
Did you select mass storage mode?

Hey There,
We had the same issue with many units and solved all by doing the following:
-Flashing the unit back to stock
-Performing a factory data reset after flashing(This is a must)
Hi All -
Not a good day for me at all I installed one of the latest Stock Odexed ROM. Then for some reason I wanted to reinstall it so went to Touch v6.0.1.5 recovery and wiped everything without taking nandroid back up as I was 100% sure that I have all my different ROMs in my external card. Then after wiping the device when I went to my external card to install the ROM I found nothing in there !!! Total phone wiped out !!! Now cant even go to Download Mode to install a ROM using odin. Tried adb reboot download but still No luck. Cant go to download mode. May be my USB cable or PC has issues, wont detect my phone right now every time I want to go to download mode it goes to recovery mode. Hence cant install any ROM. Please help !!!
I also installed the Samsung USB driver but still my PC wont detect my phone.
My device is Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket.
You help is highly appreciated.
Thanks.
If you can still access recovery just DL another ROM and flash it. I must be missing something here. Is the phone usable?
Most likely it's the OP that's missing something, being in panic.
OP, get an SD card, load any ROM on it, insert it into your phone, boot to recovery, install ROM, profit.

Thanks buddy but the problem is I cant access my Micro USB Card. The phone doesnt boot and gets stuck at the SAMSUNG logo.
In both TWRP and CWM recoveries you have "Mount USB storage" option.
Connect your phone to PC with USB cable, use that option, and copy the ROM right on your USB storage.
Or grab a card reader for $1 from eBay To have one just in case. Or use any other phone (family/friends) for copying the ROM on the SD card. So many options...

Thats the only option I see Jack_R1, either buy a card reader or use friends one. I tried Mount USB Storage before but nothing happened. And other issue I have been having for last few weeks is - my PC wont detect my phone, it says unrecognized device or something. So I have been using FTP for transferring ROM and other files to my phone.
But I will try with a card either for now. Hope that helps otherwise will need guidance from expert ppl like you all.
Thanks again. Appreciate for your quick responses.
You said in the OP that you tried adb reboot download. So do you have adb installed? If so have you installed the google drivers?? Here's the link:
http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html
If you don't have them installed do so. Then type:
Code:
adb devices
You might need to exit SDK manager and reboot your comp before it shows. Also there is a program called usbdeview you can DL to remove any drivers you have installed that might coflict.
Never heard of having recovery but not download.... Sure you don't have a usb cable/connection problem?

Jack_R1 - what is the best way to clean the USB port? I will keep you posted if driver clean up and re-installation helps to detect the phone or not.
Toothpick and gently going over all contacts inside the socket.
Prying up on the prong ever so gently(it really don't take much) with a toothpick worked for me. Although now that I think about it, the toothpick may have just helped clean it ^^^
