Viewing JPS/MPO files in 3D without going into gallery first? - LG Optimus 3D

Anyone know how to view JPS/MPO files in 3D without going into gallery first?
I use TwinPic to view the public gallery as well as sharing 3D photos between my brother (has O3D too), if we open any pic that it downloads it give a list of apps to open it in, if I choose the Gallery it opens in 2D and no option to change to 3D (no options at all like "share" etc, just zoom)
the only way I've found to view photos in 3D is to do it by going in to the gallery app, but most photos don't show up so I have to run the 3rd party app SDRescan to get them to show (very poor and time consuming, especially since I have a 32Gb card in that's nearly full!)
Users of the HTC Evo 3D just click a photo, it downloads and displays in 3D without them having to leave the app they are in (web browser or TwinPic) and they don't have to rescan the internal memory either!

The same problem faced me, I solved it by the following way:
Move all files from:
sdcard/download/twin-pic
To:
sdcard/twin-pic
Then, you will see all pictures in the gallery (It will do scanning automatically).
Maybe we have to ask the developer to allow us to choose the downloaded images location so may that solves the problem.

If you use Polaris Office or another file browser you can just browse to the folder where you stored the images and they open in the image viewer where you can enable 3D.

so no way to view straight away within the app like Evo 3D users can do?
we shouldn't have to move all photos to another folder
we shouldn't have to open up file explorer apps (Astro doesn't work btw, nor does any other that asks what app to open it in, if I choose the stock "Gallery" there's no 3D option, no share option etc, just zoom)

Gallery : any alternative to this crappy app ?

Hello every body.
I guess this have been already discussed, but I can't find a thread about that. So, I started this one.
I am very disappointed with the stock Gallery App :
- Shows only the leaf folders in a flat mode
- Folder names shortened (no place to see the entire name)
- Maintains a useless "parallel database" and won't show "non-indexed" pictures
- Scans the whole memory card (instead of only a "PICTURES" folder)
- Lags sometimes until the "parallel database" is finished (which takes a long time)
To sumarize, I would greatly prefer something working as :
- Windows file explorer + Windows picture wiewer OR
- ACD SEE
Do you know if there is an alternative app that can be installed AND
launched by the camera when clicking on "view pictures" ?
Thank you for yours answers.
There are several gallery replacement apps in the Market. Did you search in it for any?
JustPictures gets a lot of good word about it across the forums, and even the generic Gallery3D app on the Market is suggested as a better replacement for the one that comes installed.
As for Gallery scanning the whole sdcard, that's not quite accurate as I understand. The "media" scanner scans the whole card for all kinds of media (pics, music, videos). If you want to speed it up, you can add a blank file called .nomedia to any folder that won't have media you want indexed in it. This tells the scanner to skip that folder and ALL it's subfolders.
QuickPic is a good alternative.

I suppose I have to get an app to create these .nomedia files (Windows refuses to do it) ?

Ok. But is there a way to tell the camera to use this one instead of the stock app ?
Thank you again in advance.
I second QuickPic!
Thanks! THANKS!
Glad I found QuickPic (the freeware one) because I read this thread!
Freakin nice

Run cmd.exe
Code:
type nul: > .nomedia
and press return.
Quickpic is indeed terrific.
It's kind of sad, about the stock Gallery app.

Or you can do it on the phone with Root Explorer (and probably most other file manager apps)...just navigate to the folder you want to put it in, hit menu, then more, then new file, and name it .nomedia in the popup dialog box.
Once you have a copy, you can always just copy and paste it everywhere you need.
I use JustPictures and it's much better than stock (which seriously sucks and it's gimmicky).
QuickPic is also great, but it doesn't have online capabilities (I like being able to view my SmugMug albums through JustPictures).
I really wish Android had a good Gallery app which combines photos, video and online capabilities.
Just downloaded JustPictures - thx to this thread!
I tried out QuickPic from this thread's recommendation, but is there an app that also browses the video files like the gallery does?
Total bummer that I have to open another app to access my recorded videos.
Any suggestions?
QuickPic does show both pictures and videos.
Thanks for the recommendation. QuickPic is soooooo much better than 3D Gallery on my phone.
I've tried QuickPic and JustPictures, none of these apps are OK.
QuickPic : is fast, but still show my folders in a flat mode.
JustPictures : won't show my PICTURES folder (which contains 1000 folders and 30000 files) where I've placed a .nomedia. If I don't do that, this infamous media scanner scans it, and makes my phone heat, and causes my battery to drain.
Edit : wrong : there's an option for that
But ES Explorer + Quick Pic is OK :
- ES Explorer to browse folders
- Quick Pic to display pictures

has anyone figured out how to prevent the phone from deleting pictures from gallery

since i've updated to 2.3.3, i've noticed that some pictures are missing from phone. i think i had the issue with 2.3.2 as well. noticed video missing as well. this really gets to me since the pictures just randomly get deleted from the phone. i've googled it and it's a common problem. does anyone have a fix for this yet?
My understanding is that the pictures arn't actually getting deleted, just the gallery isn't displaying them. To be sure, connect your phone to your PC and browse to the pictures, they should all be there.
I believe I saw a 'fix' somewhere about installing a different gallery manager app, and that that seemed to fix the issue. I can't remember which forum I saw it on, so please don't quote me.
This used to happen to me on my NS. It would look like the photos where deleted but then when I would check later on they would be their ,and that was on 2.3.2
As we say in French: "Dans le doute, reboote". (When in doubt, reboot). Your pictures will be back in the gallery. That's the only workaround I found for the moment...
I've had this but the pictures *are* deleted. I do not trust the Gallery app anymore, and only use QuickPic (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.alensw.PicFolder&feature=search_result).

Quickpic is the way to go!!
I use Quickpic as well cuz the gallery app sucks. I just lost pics and a video that i converted and moved onto my phone. They are gone. Can't find them using my computer to browse my phone, can't find them using ESfile explorer either. Rebooted. Still gone
Can't find a fix anywhere. Not happy.
At least I didn't lose data on my iPhone.
I have had this happen to me too, but i had the app AndExplorer on it and i read something where it said that this app was known to delete files just randomly, so if you have this app.. id suggest using Linda Manager or another file manager instead..
Here is what you can try when you see pictures not showing up in gallery3D app:
Stop or FC Gallery.apk so it's not running
Use root expolorer (or some other expolrer capable of displaying files and folders starting with ".")
Browse to /sdcard/DCIM/.thumbnails
Delete all pictures and files you see there (those are thumbnails only)
You might have to reboot the phone but usually you can just start Gallery and it will regenerate (slowly) all your thumbnails again.
Gallery3D app creates the folder called ".thumbnails" for which it stores all thumbnails of your pictures for quick screen draw on the 3D interface. If for some reason you copy your pictures from one place on SD card to another or you add new pictures without Gallery.apk running they wont show up because thumbnails were either deleted or never created.

[Q] Pictures storage ?

I feel stupid to ask this!
Where are the pictures that I see in the photo gallery located! All I see in my astro file manager are the pictures I took with the camera but I can't find all the other albums that are in the gallery!
I have a g2x on 2.3.3 and I am not rooted!
Thank you for your help!!!
Everything Ive got is in mnt/sdcard/DCIM. Not sure where else they could be. Some are in a folder related to whatever photo app I used, or if its a picture for an app, its usually in a folder related to said app. At least thats what QuickPic says.
Ah! Maybe you could download the QuickPic app and it will show you all your file extensions?
I wish than I would find them! Quick pic does not find the albums that are in my gallery. I want to copy all pi tires in the main dcmi pi tire album! That's why I am asking.
Thank you for trying

Different apps store pictures in different locations. i.e. - there is a /pictures folder, /mnt/sdcard/dccim has pictures, and there is a /camera folder on my sd card as well.
The gallery scans all media on your phone, and then shows it in the app itself. I would try to figure out what application the gallery is pulling that picture from, and that might help you locate it on the phone.

Thats why I thought quickpic would be a good app. It tells you the file path under the albums, making it easier to pull them up on the phone when looking through your SD card on a computer or whatever.
I guess I dont understand the question

How To stop sync from pc?

Hello everyone. I'm coming from the Infinity forums here at XDA. I jumped ship on that thing. Loving this Sammy Tab. Does anyone know how to stop or remove the tab from grabbing photos from my computer? As soon as I hit the gallery Icon it grabbed my pics. Am on Windows 7 ultimate. So I went to my media player and disabled share with other devices but alas it still finds the pictures. Then when I go to the folder to delete it/them all I get is a select file/folder option or download option. No delete option. So how do I stop and remove this folder? Thanks. Sorry if there is a thread for this already. I searched but couldn't find anything. Maybe I didn't write it out right in the search:silly:
Anyway, Thanks in advance

The Note is finding pictures that you windows pc is sharing to your network. It allows you to view them but isn't downloading them unless you hit the download button.
You can remove the network items from the view this way: Menu (from main gallery view not from withing the "folder" of pictures you want to remove) -> View By -> Content in device

There's only one problem with this method -- it doesn't stop it permanently. Every time you re-load the gallery app, it re-appears. I find it totally annoying, honestly, and wish there was a permanent way to turn it off. I leave media sharing on my Win7 PC turned on because I use apps that allow me to browse shared media for streaming/etc. I want to be able to see those photos when I want them, but not all the time, and certainly not every time I load up the gallery app.
If the app permitted you to browse network-shared media when YOU want, and could sort it in a useful way (folders, maybe?) ... then the feature would be useful. Otherwise, for me, the hundreds and hundreds of raw digital photos being cataloged each time I load the app is just plain obnoxious.
Thankfully, thus far, this is only one of a very very few annoyances with the Note 10.1! And there's always one solution -- use a different picture/media viewing app .
Nice. Thanks guys. quickpic here I come

[APP] GCam Tool - Automatically move photos taken by Google Camera to gallery

I love taking portrait photos on Google Camera app. But non-Pixel users like me can only use the modded version of Google Camera and one major annoyance is that it takes portrait photos only in burst mode. You then need to open gallery, find the sub-folder which it created for burst mode, copy the portrait image and delete the rest. And you have to do this every time you take a portrait photo.
With GCam Tool, all this happens in the background. After you take a photo with Google Camera, you will find it in your camera roll when you open Gallery. You can:
Choose source and destination folders
Move portrait or regular or both photos
Delete sub-folders created by Google Camera every time
By default the app copies photos to your photo gallery. If you buy the $1 upgrade, it also deletes the files and sub-folders (thereby actually moving the photos instead of copying).
Your upgrade will help an indie developer like me survive. Please spread the word and let me know your thoughts.

I will this app could move photos from the default internal storage folder used by gcam to a folder in the external SD card!
@Apptuners
really good app, does exactly what it promises. As this was something I was looking for since quite some time now, I purchased the Pro version. Keep up the good work :good:
Thank you very much for the support, Portgas D. Ace.
I just pushed an update (1.02) that adds manual batch moving feature. If you don't want the app to monitor in the background, you could just open the app once in a while, click the Batch Move option and move all files in one go to the chosen target folder.
if the possibility also to port folders with DNG(RAW) format?, because GCam also creates a separate folder

Hi Dev. Great work! I've been looking for that for a long time. Any chance this will work with regular (non portrait) photos? It will be great to be able to automatically move photos to sd card... A suggestion: is it doable to have an option to rename the file to whatever pattern you want before moving it? This way it could match other photos names in the gallery. Thanks again for the very useful app!
Good and helpful app and I would like to support your work.
But how do I buy the pro version?
Clicking on "upgrade" button brings up a window and then clicking on "Upgrade to pro" does nothing..?
Great app! But every reboot I'm getting a notification. Tapping on it just opens the app and then when I open the settings and back out the notification goes away. Any ideas why?
I think I'm doing something wrong because this app isn't working for me. I have the photo storage paths set, and have the option checked for it to delete sub folders. But none of the photos ever move and they stay in the burst folders.
Sorry to be that guy, but could you provide a step by step for me, or point out some kikind of error I may be making?
Thanks for your hard work. This app will be fantastic once I get it working because those burst folders drive me nuts.
Edit: maybe I'm misunderstanding part of what this app does. I went into my gallery app and the photos are all there and not in any sub folders, but when I go to my pictures through the google camera app they are still in the burst folders.
I have some issue with moving non-portrait photo into another folder. As soon as the non-portrait photo is moved. The original portrait photo is gone. I no longer see it from my camera folder and cannot see it from Google Photo.
Even worse, I did the batch moving and now all my portrait photos are gone. Is this the right behavior?
same thing with the restarts , nokia 7 plus here

How do you manage to copy the portrait only photo to DCIM/Camera. delete the original folder and (non portrait) photo and still have google photos backup the moved photo normally?
When I do this manually with a script, google photos doesn't beackup the portrait photo and it still shows a burst of two photos, the portrait and the non portrait, with this one showing only a grey thumbnail, and it never back ups.
Can you shed some light? Do you change anything in the EXIF of the moved portrait photo?

No I don't modify EXIF for "photo move" feature. EXIF is modified only when selfie flipping is prevented.
As for how GCam Tool manages to do it, I believe it is all about speed. If the photos and subfolders stay long enough in the source folder, Google Photos will back up it. I don't know how fast your script is, but when you take a photo with Google Camera, GCam Tool instantly jumps into action, moves the required files and deletes the unwanted ones (and sub-folders). It all happens in like 3-4 seconds and sometimes more depending on how long it takes on your phone for Google Camera to do the HDR+ processing and save the files.
Also once the move is done, GCam Tool rebuilds the thumbnail gallery and runs MediaScanner as well to notify the system regarding file move, which could be another reason. And most people have DCIM/Camera as their target folder, which is already being monitored by Google Photos. So as soon as GCam Tool moves the files into DCIM/Camera, Google Photos backups it.
