2.3.5 for non 4g Nexus - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

is there any reason for me to update to a 2.3.5 rom for a non 4g nexus? From what I am aware of, the update was mainly for the 4g, correct? Has anything been updated for the 3g version?

[Q] Sprint Nexus S ROM compatibility

Do any of the custom ROMs out there for the Nexus S (CM7, etc). have support for the WiMax radio that will be released in the Sprint version on May 8?
Even if not, would anyone suspect ROMs like CM7 to not be compatible with the Sprint Nexus S?
Just wondering if there's any info on this.
Thanks
Anyone have a sense of the ROM capability?

Flash the official Desire HD gingerbread rom on our Inspire 4G?

At&t hasnt even announced their plans to update the Inspire 4G and i was thinking, since the Desire HD is pretty much the exact same phone, can i flash the Desire HD official gingerbread rom? im asuming ill lose the 3g/4g capabilities but that can be solved by flashing the AT&t radio after i flash the update, right?

Radio firmware doesn't have to do with 2G/3G loss on the Inspire/DHD, it is the software in the the ROM (RIL combined with APN). If the ROM doesn't have the correct settings it will not have a data connection at all... Also, flashing a pure DHD ROM will cause major sound issues on your Inspire. I would just recommend using one of the 2.3 ROM's in the dev section, most of them are based on the official 2.3 release anyway.
You shouldn't have any problems, as long as you match your radio with the RIL and apply the dhd to inspire patch somewhere on these boards.

I've flashed Desire Rom's without any problems just use LeeDroid DHD to Inspire Patch to apply turboliniums tinny audio fix.

The thing is there's no stock 2.3.3 on these forums :/ , so the trouble is the ril, ive had no problems reactivaating the apn in the past

Use the steps in my method in development after flashing, it basically resets your radio to AT&T specs on any Sense-based ROM's. RIL, Radio, APN, telephony.db. All there.
Edit: make sure to to a rooted stock ROM, NOT THE RUU!!
Re-Edit - Use this one. It is pretty darned stock.
im getting more confused , the gingerbread roms on the inspire 4g development forums are based on the desire hd roms but already have the ril and the at&t raido and apn? or are jsut the desire hd roms and we have to flash the ril and the radio after we flash the rom?
And the screwed sound you mention is no sound AT ALL or the tiny audio?
Chad-
Slow down. Do some reading. Don't jump into it too fast and you will be fine. Read-Read-Read.
Chad, this as close to stock GB Sense as you can get. All you have to do is flash the rom nothing else. And your phone will actually think its an Inspire 4g not a Desire hd.

[Q] ICS &/or JB Radios

I see there's a new Gingerbread AT&T ROM released, with some discussion in other threads about the new radio that's included (26.17.14.11_m).
This got me wondering, have there been any Radios released specifically for ICS or JB? I'm under the assumption that the radios I've used were all written for GB. I'm currently on the ICS Redemption v1.2.7 ROM, with the Radio 26.14.04.28 and the combo works fine.
But I'm wondering, can new radios ONLY be released by the manufacturer when an Official ROM for a device is released? Or have any radios been ported over to the Inspire 4G, similar to the way ROMs have been ported?

Radios cannot be ported over. Only ROMs can be.

[Q] Will Nexus Sense 4G rom work on the Nexus S?

I know there was a port but there is no link for sense 2.1. Will it work? Just yes or no, if no please say why.
No, NS4G roms won't work on the NS. It won't even flash.
