[Q] 4ext vs 2nd partition on SD card

Hello,
I have secondary partition on my SD card with ext4 filesystem on it.
With help of Link2SD i can use this partition for installed apps.
So the question is, when i create a backup with 4EXT (currently installed) or CWM does it include links and actual files from the SD card?
Got also a ext and ext1 seems to be a strange mounting problem..
It works but s2e cannot find the ext patition..

Hi,
4EXT nandroid backup takes a complete snapshot of your phone system, settings, data, and apps.
It does NOT make a backup of your sd card.
So, I would think that if you restored the backup, and you had not moved the apps in your ext4 partition, then they would match up again.
Why are you using an ext4 partition, anyway?
Isn't 1 GB of space on the phone enough for you?
software logic
well,
in linux filesystem, and in windows nowdays too, any storage can be mounted anywere, so if backup software differentiate external storage vs internal storage, it probably should follow symlinks and backup application from extended filesystem as well.
it could be a feature request

How To Format Sd Card From 4EXT Recovery Touch

Hi all, I have just changed my sd card on my Sensation Xe. But the new Sd card is already partitioned and i want to delete this partition. I have read that to delete partition I have to format it from the recovery but I don't know how can I do it.
Recovery: 4EXT Recovery Touch.
CHANGE TOPIC: I have solved the problem of this topic. Now i want to ask you another thing. If i go to partition sd card from recovery i have to select the space i want on my 1 partition (fat32) but, even if i have 16 gb on sdcard, my first partition can be only until 8 gb. Why? Then it ask me the space i want for the second and the third partition. What is the 3 partition?
Thanks.
Well this is what it says in the classic 4 EXT Recovery thread OP.
Full support for up to 2 sd-ext partitions + swap

So it should be another 2 sd-ext partition or a partition for Swap.
Personally I would just format it with my computer and a SD card adapter. I always do a low level format first them a Fat 32 format, but that is just me.
But why I can use more than 8 gb for fat32 partition?

[Q] I need help with my g2x ive looked far and wide.. please give me a solution *-_-

So my g2x wasnt mounting my INTERNAL sd memory in CWM so then I reflashed it to the internal nandroid CWM with oneclick tool NOW I can acually mount it on USB and I formatted the internal to FAT32 on my computer there are NO files on it and no ROM is loaded on the phone. I still cannot mount the SD in CWM. Im using CWM 4.0.1 Internal SD nandroid support. PLEASE ive been looking all over.

Use oneclickflasher to flash clockwordmod touch. Install a rom, and format the internal sd. Try seeing if it recognized under cwm touch (remember, when you hit install zip in cwm touch click the option use internal memory)
I advise using clockwork 5.0.2.0. That's the most stable and actually for our phones and not a port.
There have been issues with certain kernels with other recoveries and it's better to be safe than sorry.

The Sense 4.0 is too big to fit into our Pico's internal memory, so, the apps are installed in the sd-ext partition. Did you create sd-ext partition? If yes, then, the apps are installed in the sd-ext partition.
Now, if you have formatted the SD card, the problem is that the data of the apps in the Android folder and .android_secure folder are erased, due to which you are struck at the htc logo. If you have removed the sd-ext, the phone would be struck at htc logo. So, in both cases, its likely that you will be struck in the htc boot logo.
But this isn't the case for cm9 or cm10, because, there are no scripts which mount the data to sd-ext, so, you can partition the sd card, or sd-ext as long as you haven't mounted /data to /sd-ext using any scripts.
And the answer to your question: You can use other memory card in your explorer... Just do a superwipe, and flash cm9 or cm10 or miui. They don't need an sd-ext. In all cases, loss of data is eminent.

How do I wipe my USB storage?

Hi.
How do I fully wipe my internel sd card using CWM? And what do I wipe sdcard0 or storage/sdcard0? I want all my space back.
When I went to wipe storage/sdcard0 It gave my the option of five different file systems to use (default, vfat, exfat,ntfs,ext4,ext3 or ext2?). Which one do I use?
Cheers.
