Hello,
I found on the XDA site, a patch to solve the problem of wireless reception, but I do not know if I can use it on my HTC Desire S, S-off with the official rom 1.36.415.6 Arabic, then I use this patch, is there a tutorial to install it? thank you

HTC DESIRE S
S-OFF
ROOTED
OFFICIAL ROM 1.36.415.6 ARABIC
It's written there: Flash through Clockwork Recovery
It will work with EXT4Recovery too.
Download ROM Manager from Market and install it. Then from menu go to boot to recovery. Phone will reboot and will enter in to the recovery menu. From there choose install zip file from sd card - that post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1051674 (you must put it before that on the root of your sd card) Choose install yes and voila.

Think you very, teddy irish, I juste install it, but lost my wifi signal now lol,
Hi,
Finally I reinstall my Rom, everything it's ok
If you read the thread it says only use this on custom deodexed roms since you are using a stock Rom which you have rooted it will not work however if you want to use this fix i suggest you download the Arabic pre rooted Rom from the pre rooted Rom thread then you can apply the patch as the Rom is deodexed

Hi all!
I'm having some problems with Wifi on my DS.
I have installed a wifi fix zip which I shouldn't have (unfortunately I didn't read the whole post...) Here's the post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1051674
After installing I have stucked at the HTC logo, after a few retries and backups it has succesfully booted. But now I couldn't see my wifi at home but it still works at other places (like at work). I tried to add the home network manually by typing the SSID and password but nothing...
Any suggestions? Can i uninstall the zip or overwrite it somehow? As it works at other places I think it has just screwed up some settings.
Thank you in advance...
(BTW I have Reaper v3.0)
Have you tried simply rebooting into recovery, flashing your original ROM zip file, wiping cache and dalvik cache
If you're unlocked via htcdev you may need to seriously flash kernel via fastboot

I'm have already reflashed the ROM but haven't wiped cache and dalvik.
Should I wipe before/after or both?
I'm making a nandroid now and give it a try.
I didn't know how was it unlocked cuz i bought it second-hand and it was already rooted.
Flash then wipe cache and dalvik
what does you boot loader screen say? Are you s-off? Or unlocked?

This looks like you have a phone S-OFFed with XTC clip, which means you can flash what ever you want... In that case I would do a nandroid backup and try to flash the latest RUU just to see if the problem with WIFI dissapears.

How can it be that wifi is working at some places and can't see it at other places?
Is there any config file which I can check with rootexplorer?
If there is I could copy it here, maybbe it would help...

Nandroid has been made last night.
Where can I find the latest RUU? If I flash it would I lose root access? Sorry if its a noob Q but I have only flashed custom ROMs till now.
My biggest problem is that I do not really understand "what is the problem"...
How come that it can see open networks and I can use WiFi properly at work but at home it doesn't see network and can't even add it manually with SSID.
What did that fix.zip actually did?

Here's a short brief what happened:
- used WiFi properly everywhere
- automatically found network (both at work and home, open and secured)
- typed in password and used it day by day
- installed wrong wifi fix.zip, freezed at HTC logo at boot, somehow managed to make it work after a few tries of wipes and backups
- at home it could not see the network (out of range)
- deleted it from known networks, tried to find it again, couldn't, tried to add manually, couldn't
- next day at work the network at there worked properly henceforward (didn't touched anything)
PROBLEM SOLVED!
Don't really know what was the problem...
After reflashing and rebooting a few times and reseting the router at home, it's working somehow...
Thanks for everyone who tried to help!
Glad its sorted!
sounds like it may have been a bleeding router issue!
keeping the phone horizontally with two hands you can easily experience the antenna issue.
anyone found a *hardware* fix? opening the phone, isolating something that is in touch with the metal chassis?
thank you

A "PseudoGeek" installed me a horrible ROM! Please Help me get back to a good one!
I know it is a little long story..but read it, and imagine yourself living in China and, a Chinese "Technician PseudoGeek" screwing around with your mobilephone, speaking only in chinese to you (and you not able to understand nothing) and still that guy trying to charge for downgrading your device from Android 2.3.5 to 2.3.3 with a ROM that not even has an Alarmclock. Please have empathy with me.
The story is this one:
I am living in China, and in order to configure correctly my VPN services I need to root my Desire and then download SET DNS, etc, etc.
I tried to root my device by myslef and couldn´t, so decided to take it to a Little shopping mal next to where I live, a Chinese “PseudoGeek” charged me around 10USD and rooted my device, I was happy I had gotten SUPERUSER and could be able to use several apps like the MarketUnlocker , Rom Manager, Set Dns, etc.
So after Reading the XDA fórums for about a month, I decided it was time to change my ROM and decided to install Cyanogenmod….so I installed ROM manager, flashed Clockwork recovery, made Nandroid Backup, installed Titanium Backup(also backed up apps and system data) and then decided to flash Cyanogenmod, I wiped the Data, made a Factory Reset, everything just as explained on the forums... BUT…to my bad luck I couldnt get Cyanogenmod on my device, when I tried to resotre the created Nandroid Backup I had a problema that said something about MD5 mismatch..And I was left with a complete wiped out Factory Reset ROM and my SUPERUSER everytime I opened it said it had troubles and needed to FORCECLOSE.
So..last week I went again with this same “PseudoGeek” looking if he could help me install get SUPERUSER ..so after a Hot Discussion whether he should charge me again or not, he decided to help me..BUT THIS TIME EVERYTHING GOT WORSE…I got a complete new ROM..but an old ROM..I used to had ANDROID VERSION 2.3.5 and now I have 2.3.3..I also used to have the new HTC SENSE and now I have SENSE 2.1 …What is worst is that this ROM is completly basic, it does note ven has an Alarm Clock I really do not like it.
Please Help me! I want to flash a new ROM…I AM SURE I CAN GET BETTER HELP BY YOU XDA DEVELOPERS than going again with him.

For better help it would be great if you can post your HBOOT Version. TO check them
-shutdown your phone,
-remove battery for 10sec
-insert battery
-push vol-down and power buttom at the same time
your phone will boot into HBOOT
Please post what is written there.
My recommendation might sound simple, but if you want Cyanogenmod installed, download it again, and try to flash it again. If you do not want Cyanogenmod anymore I'd suggest you flash Virtuous Affinity or Endymion.

The good thing is that your phone is already S-OFF. That's important for flashing ROMs.
The easy way now is to boot your phone normal. Go to play Store and install ROM Manager. This tool helps you to install the clockwork mod recovery. After that you can easily install a rom you want. For example CyanogenMod or Endymon.
I'm now on the road, so I have no links. But I hope I could help you.

Everything looks good so far. Since you're s-off and already have ROM manager you're ready to go. Make sure you have clockwork mod recovery installed and follow the tutorial in the guide you already found (very good! Most people seem to ignore all those guides)
I think you can delete those files at the bottom of you're Sd card. But better leave pg88img.zip where it is.
btw, welcome on xda
Edit: I don't think the Chinese "geek guy" has done a bad job. he flashed an old ROM, and that is what you got confused by.

You're welcome
I definitely recommend to use the ROM Manager, because this is a useful tool for newbies (no shame ). This way your damage risk is the lowest level. I recommend to 'Flash ClockworkMod Recovery' in ROM Manager. After that just use 'Install ROM from SD-Card'. You can test different ROMS from this Forum. With the BackUp function in ROM MAnager you can easily test diff. ROMs and restore your daily/favorite ROM.
For my first touch with this i used the tutorial from the canogenmod wiki: Method via ROM Manager
Because of the PG88IMG.zip File: This is the Radio. This is flashed in Fastboot (not Recovery). You can delete it, no need at this moment. More infos about here: [RADIO] HTC Desire S Radios [PG88IMG.zip]
Greetings Bulkatos
You XDA Developers guys rock! I am really impressed and happy for the fast replies and the helping attitude! Keep up the good work!
By the way, how do you end up in Nanjing?
I am studying the Chinese language
I am using CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY
Ok I really have a big problem...and it is the same problem I used to had before.
I made everything as said in the NOOB guide to COMPLETELY wiped the data.
Download Endymion...checked the MD5SUSMS and matched...added to my SDCARD and at the moment of installing it from the .zip it said:
-- Installing: /sdcard/Endymion_V3.1_base_release.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/Endymion_V3.1_base_release.zip
(bad)
Installation Aborted.
So...I tried with the CyanogenmodROM and it gaves me the same answer.
When I try to go back to back and RESTORE my last ROM it says that MD5SUMS mismatch, eventhough I havent changed anything on the files!
And the worst thing is that now how I wiped out all my data my phone hangs on the HTC logo when I turned it on
WHAT CAN I DO?? Please help me!
In the past, sometimes I had the same issue. When the restore says, that the md5sum not match, something goes wrong in this backup. For me it was a aborted backup. I think this backup is out of work.
The error:
E:Can't open /sdcard/Endymion_V3.1_base_release.zip
(bad)
Don't now why this happend. For me it happend one time, but then never. I just downloaded the ROM again and then it worked.
You can also try 4EXT Recovery. THis is an other Recovery. Instructions here [TOUCHCOVERY] 4EXT Recovery Touch
Have you tried annother ROM, then Endymion?
Edit1: IT Seems that something is wrong with the zip. Try to load it again or try an other one.
Edit2: I found some people with the same error and they said that to format the sd-card would help. You can try it.
Ensure that you check the m5d sum of the file when it's on the sd card itself not just after download
Have you another sd card that you could use just to rule that out?
Would also suggest changing your recovery to 4ext, although that is just personal preference

Also, please provide as much pertinent info as possible, ie: rom you flashed, firmware, s-off or s-on, locked or unlocked. With your description it's basically like saying, "my car makes a noise all the time. what is causing it?".

HBOOT 1.27.0000
firmware 3.33.401.6
I've format everything but SD. Restored the most recent back up done today before flashing. Once it reboots HTC logo comes up once, black screen, HTC logo, 4Ext is coming up saying that smartflash it is set to update the boot partition on next system start asking if this should be removed.
I've downloaded and installed again PG58IMG *different files using bootloader
I've founded a 3.33.401.6-Unsecured-Boot.img,+Root+Busybox zip file that can be installed via recovery but it did not help.
At this point I need a bit of help to look into the right direction and I'm not sure that Unbrick_Pyramid is the right way.

Was thinking to install CWM on the basis that could be a 4ext recovery issue, toughs?

If you can install clockworkmod that may help.
Tge device isnt getting the message that it has already booted into recovery once. So something may be jacked up with 4ext.
Clockwork may bypass all that when it doesnt know what to do with that signal to run smartflash.
Worst case scenario...put a full pm58img containing a rom and recovery on the sf card and flash that through bootloader.
You should still be able to get to bootloader as the device looks for that option first.

And did that help? Are you able to get into recovery without errors now? If so you should be able to flash a fresh version of any ROM.
Try that first. Get any ROM. Flash it. See if it boots.
If you have successfully replaced 4EXT I will bet a fresh flash of a ROM will now boot.
Also worth a shot is replacing or upgrading the firmware, as that could be what's sending the phone into recovery on each boot (though this is less likely that 4EXT just being broken)
Flash a firmware PM58IMG like 3.32 or 3.33 and see if that helps.
But for starters, put a fresh ROM on the SD card and flash it with CWM. (BE SURE IT'S A ROM THAT DOESN'T REQUIRE 4EXT!!)
Once you've got it all fixed you can switch back to 4EXT. I have a feeling it was just the copy you were running that got botched. The software itself is solid and stable. A new copy shoudl work fine now.
CWM v5.0.2.0 was installed fine.
3.33 firmware installed once again.
Using this I've installed ROM that I already did in the past w/o luck, they all sit on the HTC logo. Is like the initial boot sequence is broken. Is boot.img part of the firmware or ROM ?
Trying to download some additional ones.
Thanks,

The more details you give, the better the answers will be. Don't consider any detail too small.
What do you mean you installed ROM's that you had done in the past? Do you mean you are trying to restore a backup made with 4EXT?
That won't work. You need to flash a fresh version of the ROM after wiping.
Also, CWM won't install some ROM's that you may have used in the past. What ROM are you trying to install?
The HTC logo that first pops up when you hit the power button is part of the firmware.
Make sure you do a full wipe of everything but the SD card from within CWM. Get whatever's causing the problem off that way. Then flash a fresh install of a ROM from scratch.
Hi.
I did not use any backup only fresh ROMs: ARHD, Elegantia, but also stock ROMs I could find.
I've tried also some PG58IMG with ROM included.
Cheers.

Hi,
You can keep as many ROMS on your sd card as there is room.
Make sure you have a nandroid backup of a good ROM,so you can always restore your phone to a working condition.
Use the wipe/format all partitions (except sd card) before any new installation.
thanks malybru.
whats nandroid? What is 4 EXT? I've seen that mentioned a lot as well?
I used PG58IMG for Recovery.
I assume I'm done with that?
Just load a ROM.zip onto the SD and flash w/HBOOT?
I assume I will have to reload gapps.zip each time or might Play sync work and reload my previous apps?

nandroid is a backup of your rom in case when you are using or flashing something in your device and maybe has bad results.
then from recovery you can restore your nandroid to revert your device to its previous condition.
4ext is a recovery that many of us is using it.if you have installed cwm recovery i suggest to install 4ext.it's better
rom always is flashing from recovery
I assume that ROM manager would allow me to make a "nandroid"?
Yes I did use cwm recovery. Whats makes 4EXT a better choice?

Hi,
4EXT can be installed using THIS TOOL
Look in 4EXT for a section called backup and restore.
Are you s-off or s-on?
I would not bother with ROM Manager.
Gapps will need to be reloaded if you do a full wipe of your previous CM ROM

Yes, you can have as any as can fit on the card. Remember to wipe clean if you go to another ROM.

Related, I can't find the Fastboot switch under Settings in the CM9 ROM.
Do I know longer need to think about that? Or is it somewhere else?

Hi,
If you run the 4EXT,it will overwrite CWM.
There is no fastboot switch in CM
Thanks again,
doing the nandroid b.u now, then onto 4ext.
I was using the default ICS browser with CM9. It lacked easy access to bookmarks.
The "quick" labs functioned intermittently, other wise I'd have used them to access bookmarks.
I tried ICS Browser+ and that just crashed repeatedly.
Might any of this change with 4ext and another ROM choice? Right now I'm steering towards ARHD/ICS.
Or are there better (the only thing I'd like is easy access to the short list of bookmarks I had from GB).
And is there a Fastboot option in 4ext or will I still be beyond that?
I assume to flash both 4ext and a new ROM I need to turn on USB debugging?

Hi,
You get different browsers with different ROMS.
You can also install one of your choice from the market.
Fastboot option appears in Sense ROMS.
USB debugging is in all ROMS.
If you flash ARHD,it will install 4EXT for you as part of the installation.
Are you going from GB to ICS?
Are you s-off?
You will need to update your firmware for that.

Hi,
Firmware will be OK ,then.
malybru,
I have dl'd the Android_Revolution_HD_Super_Wipe_Sensation.zip.
Back up my current ROM.
gapps.zip is still on my SD.
At this point do I drop the .zip on the SD and reboot recovery (4ext touch) and flash the new ROM and that's it?
Or do I need to wipe the davlik + cache, or wipe data factory reset, or format system or what?

Hi,
Don't use arhd superwipe.
If you have 4 ext, then, format all partitions(except sd card)
Back up your ROM first.
Drop the new ROM onto your sd card, and flash it from recovery.
You only need gapps if you use cm.
Most ROM threads tel u what u need to do if you're installing from a different ROM. superwipe is only needed of you' re going to ARHD.

OK. I dl'd ARHD 1.2.2 T-Mobile.zip
There is some other info on the ARHD thread page here.
"3.33.401.x firmware is required!" I guess based on what you've written above, that isn't a concern for me.
" HTC Sensation 4G (U.S. T-Mobile PG5810000 | T-MOB010) users can flash this for better signal and data speeds!" Concern or wait to see what I get after flashing?

Hi,
3.33 firmware is not crucial. But it does have the latest radio
ARHD will work fine on 3.32
Flash first and see how your signal works.
Although,I believe the T-MOB add-on does work well.
how do I check what firmware I have?
4ext doesn't say.
Revolutionary shows the radio 11.23.3504.07_M2
HBOOT is 1.27.1100.
ICS 4.04

Hi,
You have radio 11.23,so that is 3.32
11.24a is firmware 3.33
I rooted and unlocked my One S[S4] by this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583427 and it went fine.
Wifi was working fine on stock Rom but when I flashed LeeDroid's Rom and booted the wifi didn't turn on. I just said error.
Then I tried Flashing Viper One S rom and no luck it gave the same error. I tried flashing the kernel and still didn't work.
Anyway I kept on trying different things and got the wifi to turn on but now it shows the connection but doesn't connect to it. It tries two three times and automatically turns off or the phone hangs and restarts.
Please help I need wifi and I can't get it to connect.

HELP!!
Anyone here can help me please. I'm stuck with this problem as I cannot find a direct solution and I have tried eveything I can but cannot get it to connect.
When you flashed it, did you flash the boot.img before, too? Do this!
And, also important: After each change of ROM, always also wipe "System" in Recovery! Maybe some ROMs don't do so automatically. And if you change from ROM A to ROM B, also factory reset your phone.
// you find the boot.img in the zip-file you flash
I would recommend to:
- choose a ROM (Viper?), transfer it to your sd-card
- get into bootloader, flash boot.img which comes in the zip-file
- from bootloader select recovery to boot (best use TWRP)
- go to wipe, choose to wipe system, androidsecure, dalvik- and cache and do a factory reset
- select install in recovery, install new ROM
I am pretty sure, everything will work after this

Yes, I flashed the boot.img before then flashed the ROM from recovery.
I just did a factory reset, did not specifically do the system wipe.
Let me try wiping the system and then flash the ROM. I'll get to you after trying.

Okay
you could flash the official RUU ,the problem will be solved…remember.,when you flash a ROM using recovery, you'd better format SYSTEM,that's important…

I did exactly as you said but wifi doesn't connect. When I enter my wifi password it goes to connecting and quits stating the network out of range even when I'm standing besides the router and then it hangs and reboots.
All other things work fine, i.e bluetooth, mobile network etc.
I flashed the boot.img prior to flashing the ROM in TWRP. Wiped system, android.secure, cache and wiped data/factory reset. No luck.
I've no idea why is this happening. :S

The RUU is a .exe file and I'm on Ubuntu 12.10. I can't run RUU.
I borrowed a friend's laptop which was running on windows 7 but could'nt get the sync manager to sync my phone.
I'm stuck!!!
Strange .. you have neighbours you can ask to connect to their wifi for test?
Is your wifi "b/g" or "n" only?
Will write when I got another idea .. sorry.

Yes, They can let me do that. I'll try that too.
Its b/g/n.
Its so frustrating, can't connect to wifi.
It's a T-Mobile phone with Hboot 1.14.0004 maybe this can help you think of something.
Thanks for your help.

Hey,
searched the Viper thread:
"Hello,
Did you do the 2.35 OTA from T-Mobile? If so then you can't get Wi-Fi working on any other rom then Trickdroid 7.0.0 or Stock 2.35. It all has to do with the way Wi-Fi is handled in 2.35 and hboot 1.14 not letting you downgrade those partitions.
You Could always SuperCID your phone and in stall the 2.31 RUU then install Viper. That has the same hboot so you shouldn't have any problems. I haven't tried this because I dont need to. Hope that helps.
Rsotbiemrptson"
To be sure, best wipe everything as before, then flash trickdroid 7.0.0
//edit: just editing CID is not enough, I guess .. I would modify mmcblk0p23 to 1.00.000.0 (see thread "downgrade/unbrick"), too. If that does not work, downgrade hboot, works fine. I think you are good with linux.

hi. I don't know this because I just got the phone from my cousin last night and he has no idea too. Where could check this if the OTA is done or not?
Okaaay. I tried Trickdroid v8.1.0 and it didn't work. I'm downloadiing the v7.0.0 right now to test it.
He must have dont the 2.30 OTA that's why wifi is not working on any other ROM.
Can you tell me a way other than virtual machine for me to apply the 2.31 RUU on Ubuntu/linux?
Shrink your ext3/4 partition using gparted and install win7
Virtualising and using "pass-through" will not work anyway. The phone switches its mode too often, you would need to "pass-through" it again and again.
You best use a laptop of a friend .. :/
But yes, try 7.0.0
So it worked?

Hi,

Hi everyone,
I am a bit confused concerning the Hboot version and CWM recovery. Here is the situation :
I put a custom ROM long time ago (HTC operator ROM for the HTC official ROM). A few days ago, HTC deploy an update (OTA). My phone downloaded it and i tried to install it. However, CWM told me "can't find the XXX.zip" etc on the SD Card. So i tried "Install from zip" in CWM and it did it good.
However, since this, I lost my wifi tether so I thought I lost root and so on. Then, I flashed again with that : RUU-Pyramid-ICS-hTC-Europe-3.33.401.53-Radio-11.76A.3504.00U-11.24A.3504.31-M-release-280871-signed.exe (like the first time but the last version).
To root again, etc., i did that :
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
However, CWM recovery never wanted to start from the bootloader menu (i have only the CWM loading screen and then, my phone reboot normally).
I tried then to downgrade my HBoot to 1.17.2008 and from that, I can now access the CWM recovery. However, with that Hboot, my phone is stucked on the loading HTC screen (white screen and HTC green logo). When I put the HBoot back to 1.27.1100, I can't access CWM but i can start my phone.
What is the problem and how could I make that phone work good?
NB : I'm S-OFF, etc..
Thank you everyone !

Format all partitions (except sd card)
Then,flash an ICS ROM.
I think that when you ran the RUU,you lost your recovery

Hi malybru,
Thank you for your answer. As a matter of fact, I'm back with hboot 1.27. I can also tell you that I've install 4 EXT yesterday and it runs very well (backup, etc.) even if I can't with CWM now, so it is a good point.
Concerning formating all partitions, can you tell me what partitions will be format precisely ? Finally, I'd like to install that OpenSentation2 which looks good (that thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2002883). The trouble is that I was wondering the following questions :
1. The Radio will be flashed ? I dont wan't to lose that but I dont know the relation flashing a ROM or erasing partition and the Radio ROM.
2. Can I flash a Rom like that or should I take care of the firmware, the radio, or anything else before all?
3. What do you mean by saying "I think that when you ran the RUU,you lost your recovery" ?
Thank you in advance for advices
Have a nice day !

1) and 2) :if you have 3.32fw or 3.33fw you are fine
3)by using an RUU returns your device into completely stock situation as you bought it
that means that you have also stock recovery.that's why you lost your first recovery(CWM recovery)
first format all partitions(except sdcard) from recovery
then follow the installation steps from rom thread

I did it with another HTC Sensation and it worked well, that's why I don't understand. On top of that, the CWM recovery works when i put a 1.17 hboot. I'm confused.
Than you for all that information . Would it be possible with 4EXT (after deleting all partitions (except sd card) and flashing a ICS rom) to come back to what I have now with a 4 EXT backup? I mean, that backup is a 4.0 android, a htc sense rom, and so on. There's no compatibility problem to put a very different backup ?
Thank you
