As some of you have come from the captivate know what I did there with Rom Q&A threads. I am doing the same here. In an effort to clean up the site. All Rom related question shall from now on be posted in the proper Q&A or will be deleted on sight.
I recently flashed Virtuous Unity Rom.
And now i want to flash LeeDrOiD v3.2.1 Kernel on top of it.
Can i do it without factory reset / wiping?
I will lose data?
What could possibly go wrong?
What are the steps?
Thanks
You may be able to escape without crudding up your phone if you flashed Leedroid on top of that, but honestly it's a bad idea. Back everything up with Titanium and the SMS backup tool of your choice (and maybe a phone log backup tool, if that matters to you) and do a factory reset and wipe Dalvik cache. Virtuous Unity and LeeDroid are very different from one another, and are based on two different builds of the Sense framework.
Pls Help
After flashing with LeeDrOiD 4G V3.3.3 GB rom and radio now I cant use gps its not accure satellite. I used the radio from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1106324

Thanks for the reply. I flashed it with froyo Radio: 12.39a.60.19x_26.06.06.30_M
After doing everything I remove the phone cover. Then it works. I don't know whether the problem with radio or cover seems to me problem is the phone cover. Now still I'm using this radio and matching ril.

SetCPU doesn't keep Smoothass governor when i reboot/power off.
Why?
I flashed the latest LeeDrOiD ROM and tinny audio has returned for me (or so I think)
My phone is still showing that I have an Inspire 4G however, so turbonium's audio fix should still be there right?
Anyone else having this issue?

You could always just reflash the audio fix quickly, for grins.

That is what I did and sure enough it fixed it. Always go for the obvious I guess haha.
Is there a way to change the status bar colors to red? Like the wifi bars and battery indicator?
Power Cycling issue
I've been on Leedroid for the last couple builds but only recently has my phone been restarting when I press shutdown from the menu. Not sure if this is ROM problem or a phone problem. I did not make any significant changes before this started happening. Even when I pull the battery and leave it out for a minute or two, as soon as I put it back in it starts up w/out any input.
So any any insight would be appreciated.
Mine does the same thing. Restarts everytime I put turn off.

MMS trouble
I have been a lurker on here for a while and have flashed a few roms...now I am running 3.3.3 with the a radio and ril that work in my area but can't get mms at all, out going or incoming. The text will come through with a download button and when I hit it i get a failure. When I try to send I get a message cannot be sent message.
I have tried multiple radios, rils and both of Lee's kernels (stock and Brain F* scheduler)
I am just looking for a little help. I have a picture that I would really like to have that was sent via text from my mom of my son getting on the bus on his first day of kindergarten.
**edit** when I try to download a mms using radio 26.11.04.21_m and ril 2.2.0160hm I get a message of "Generic Network Failure"...and this has continued with every radio ril combo that I have tried over the last 5 days.

You could try splitting out the single APN that comes with LeeDroid into 2 APNs; one for MMS and one for data. That is how it's done on the stock ROM. Here's the link to the procedure.
I've done that too. I'm really at a loss with this.

the RIL he is looking for is not even in that thread
plus i already posted the RIL he was looking for
The package you linked does not flash from "recovery" on my phone... Can you please tell me how I can flash that RIL, and also do you know what specific RIL it will install?
The RIL for 26.06.06.30 that was on my phone from the ATT update was 2.2.0131HM, and that was also the RIL that stayed on my phone after installing attn1's ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058042
According to the [RIL] Radio Interface Libraries thread under hd desire android development (page 31, post 306, cocchiararo), the proper 26.06.06.30 RIL is 2.2.0079HM.
0079HM was released on January 14, while 0131HM was released on March 18. Apologies to cocchiararo, but it does not make sense to me that the older RIL would match the newer radio???
Update: This link from cocchiararo gave me "recovery" flashable RIL files to try... I still don't know for sure which is the proper match for 26.06.06.30, but my walk out to the driveway check showed substantially better GPS signal with 0131HM. Way better in fact.

Is there still any word on which RIL is proper? 0131 or 079? Same radio, ATT 26.06.06.30 for HTC Inspire on CM7.0.3 LordMod kernel.
either its my phone or its the radio but i flashed that newest radio and ril and internet is so slow, speed tests give me less then 1MB down im not sure what the issue is
I got the same problem too. DL I get 2.5 MB max and UL I get 1.5 MB....I have no idea what the problem is!
If you go to the download section in rom manger, and go to gtg465x's section he has a ril downloader. You can grab the ril for the newest stock radio there.
Sent from the computer I carry in my pocket.
For those of you having slowdown issues with the new radio and/or RIL, be sure to run multiple tests to multiple locations over several days and differing times of day before making judgment. AT&T network speeds are extremely sporadic. There have been a couple of days in a row that I can't get more than 2 MB/s anywhere, and then all of a sudden on the 3rd or 4th day I get a 6MB/s run (with no changes done to my phone over that time period) and then speeds may slow back down for a while starting the next day. So just give it time before reflashing or whatever. Presumably, the stock radio and RIL have been tested and certified by HTC and AT&T engineers to run properly on their network, so there is usually no reason to immediately suspect the radio/RIL if you're getting slow speeds. Of course there are always exceptions to this, it's just a rule of thumb, and of course the new radio/RIL weren't certified to run on anything but the stock ROM. However, most people are having extremely good results with this radio/RIL on a wide variety of Froyo/Gingerbread, Sense/AOSP ROMs.
I just flashed the newest version of coredroid and i'm hearing a lot of static on my end. According to the person on the other end, I sound clear.
26.06.06.14_M - Radio and RIL
I tried flashing turbonium's R1 fix but the static is still there.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Can you check for a typographical error in your post, I don't recognize that radio. If you meant 26.06.04.14_M, that is a generic test radio. You should just flash the updated stock radio that got pushed out to the stock Inspires at the end of April. It's been working well across all sorts of ROMs (Froyo, GB, Sense, AOSP). It's version 26.06.06.30 and you can get it from my dropbox here. The RIL that came with this radio is 2.2.0079HM, which you can get from here.
edit: my second recommendation (since you're using a Gingerbread/Sense ROM) is radio 26.09.04.11_M2. I believe the RIL that comes with CoreDroid is 2.2.0131HM which is already the recommended RIL for this radio.
Thanks and yes it looks like I did have a typo.
I will try the new radio and see if it makes a difference.

Ok, it feels like my phone is falling apart here. For some reason, my Internet stops working after a while and I'm not sure why. It greys out on the status bar when it should be colored. I have to keep rebooting my phone in order for it to work. After awhile, it just stops working after that too. I've tried fixing permissions in recovery, wiping and reflashing my phone, toggling airplane mode and mobile data, and changing my apns according to the apn thread for the inspire. The apn setting only gives me access to EDGE network, so I don't know what's going on there. Only thing left to try is flashing a radio. That'll be my last option to try. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Hey, thanks for the help! I flashed the cfs kernel and all is well. People like you is why I love this site.
i posted this in the xi 40 thread .. would like to post here to see if similar case occurs,
After flashing xi40 1.89 rom, I am having awfull WiFi connection . WiFi will be connected but internet will just stop working. Had this phone fora month and never experienced any problems till I flashed this . Was on cleanrom before. And now funny part is after having bad WiFi here I decided to go back to cleanrom and now I get awfull WiFi there too.
So is it something with the new base 1.89?
Does this Rom flash kernal aswell? Then maybe it is a Kernal issue?
Can someone pls tell me which base or firmware had inbuilt WiFi issues?
i had flashed telus radio with ril before... was workign fine till this flash.. so i dont think its radio error? or is it?
thanks for your time

You need to reflash radio after a rom flash the ril gets deleted when you do as it is kept in system partition which is wiped by rom before it's flashed. I had the same issue I flashed the 1.89 radio and it got better.

How does one determine which radio should be used?
I haven't flashed radios back since it was mandatory with the Android Revolution ROM. I'm using CM10 now, and am going to be flashing Albinoman's CM10.1 soon here. Admittedly this is a bit greek to me, and I'd hate to break my phone flashing the wrong radio.

There is a thread with a bunch of radios in it, but I'm not sure if any of those are carrier dependent, or based on other things.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
You should try to install albino's ROM without changing anything,to begin with.
It may work well straight out of the box.
Only start changing radios and firmware if you have signal problems.
Firmware 3.33 and 3.32 Are virtually identical, and I think the radios are in fact the same.
What about the RILs? I never understood that part..

Hi,
Rils work with the radio to give you good signal for your area.
Rils are included in the ROM.
You can also go to the market and get an app called "GetRil"
This will check your radio/ril combination, and ensure you have the best match.

Hi,
It has been a while since I used albino's ROM.
People did report that Getril did not work too well with 4.2.2 ROMS.
I guess that has not changed.
On the up-side,the ril that was incorporated in albino's ROMS worked well for most people.
Are you having any signal problems?

Unfortunately yes, my signal is constantly fluctuating from 3 bars to no bars every 30 or so seconds. Can't receive calls unless I have three or more bars. Missing 90% of calls, unable to make outgoing calls at all.
Made the build.prop change for T-MOUS recommended in Albinoman's build - no improvement.

Hi,
The first question you asked was :
" How does one determine which radio should be used?"
The best radio is the one that works for you.
Was your signal good with your previous ROM?
The radio you have is 11.24
There is a later version HERE which is 11.29
If you had a good signal before, then it could just be the ril that you had in the previous ROM.
It may be possible to get that ril and use it on albino's ROM.
You could also ask about rils in the radio/ril thread.
Of course, you must be s-off to change any firmware or radio.
Flashed the latest radio, now I can't make or receive any phone calls whatsoever. Phone displays 2 bars, but as soon as I try to make a call, goes to zero.
Apparently if my Wi-Fi is on, it kills my Mobile Signal. Keeping Wi-Fi off is allowing me to make calls, for the moment.

The safest way is to get an app called GetRil from play store and check if your radio and ril are matched properly.
Try this first and then change your radio if it still isn't working.
You can get radios from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1202867
You need to try radio/ril combinations till you get it right.
A lot of people have radio problems with albomanion Rom
You can also see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2348361. It is not exactly for your Rom, but it might help
Happy to help.
