[Q] rooting honeycomb 3.2 3g xoom - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone come across a way to root the 3g xoom after the 3.2 update?

Hi,
I've found this article for the WIFI version:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1170760
Somebody was mentioning that you only need the
apropriate boot.img which can be found on motorola website:
----------------- snip ------------------------->
you can grab the system images from the moto dev website. its a zip that includes the boot, recovery, system and userdata .img files that you can flash. make sure to get the proper ones for your model.
here is the site:
http://developer.motorola.com/products/software/
----------------- snap ------------------------->
Hope it helps, will try my luck tonight.
Cheers

Have I Bricked My Xoom

Evening all,
In trying to relock my Xoom this evening I think I may have bricked it. When the Xoom rebooted after I locked it I have a very red message at the top of the screen:
Failed image LNX 0x0002
Starting RSD mode 2
Can this be saved or am I doomed?
Thanks,
Steve
Check this thread, save my xoom
Note: ZM600
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=980803&page=12
only use the link above if you have a 3g xoom. Won't work with the wifi only version.
You are not bricked. If i was in your shoes, I would do the following. I would restore using rsd lite then, before booting, go into bootloader and flash the tiamat boot.img. I have no idea if this would work, as i don't have a wifi only model. Tread carefully
I did this a bunch. You can't relock with an unsigned kernel. Flash the boot.Img from moto AND the system.img. from moto then relock.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
I followed the instructions but it failed...damn. Looks like its dead.
Thread moved to the appropriate section. Good luck fixing your XOOM.
Try following steps on the motodev site. I they also have the files needed to restore your xoom to stock. That would be the first place I would start. Also there is a sbf floating around for stock 3.0 on the xoom
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
Where can I get the "XDA" App? I bricked my wifi only xoom and even if I find the XDA app, I'mn ot sure i can make it work without a batch file of some sort.
Either way though, my xoom is useless to me at the moment anyway, so I will certainly give anything a try that any of you recommend.
Please type really s-l-o-w though, as I am a noobe and really don't know WTF I am doing...

Anyone have a repository of stock xoom images?

This thread pertains to stock images, NOT nandroid.
Hey guys,
I've been searching all day and it's killing me. I'm hoping someone on here has a repository of stock android images for the Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi.
I've been trying to roll back my device from 4.1.1 to 4.0.4. The device I have is a test device and was upgraded without notice. For the sake of project testing, I need to roll this device back to 4.0.4.
I figured if I got a previous bootloader and system image, I can just fastboot them and be on my way. So if anyone has these on hand, I would appreciate it greatly if you could share.
Any and all help is welcome.
Thank you,
-Spartus

That contains the stock images and instructions. Can't choose to go to a specific version, though. So just flash, and upgrade as far as you want.
or with rdslite, full format, http://sbf.droid-developers.org/

Thought i would try and help you out since i have some old xoom files laying around. However, i am confused about while files you need.
MZ600: 3g xoom for Verizon US called stingrayCDMA(maybe?)
MZ601: 3g xoom for GSM called everest
MZ602: 4g lte xoom for Verizon US called stingray
MZ603: WiFI only xoom called wingray
MZ603: WiFi only xoom called wingray
So the everest file you need will not work on an MZ602.
Test question is, do you have an MZ602(Stingray) or an MZ601(everest)?
Let me know, and I will see if I can find the right file.
PS: Also, what is your region/language?

Thanks for helping... It's definitely an MZ602 - Verizon 4GLTE. The device accepts flashing through Fastboot or RSD, but will not save anything. I think the partition table must be gone. There is NO Recovery. Someone else suggested this file would help even on the "wrong" device. Desperate at this point will try anything.
Region - USA
Hope you have something or an idea.

METHOD 1:
If you haven't tried it already, download this http://www.mediafire.com/download/klylgjtuy42y625/HRI39.zip, extract and flash using the following fastboot method.
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot -w
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
METHOD 2:
Can you flash a custom recover in fastboot or does it fail? If it fails, what exactly is the error?
If you can successfully flash a custom recovery image, try following this guide. I know it is intended for removing a "BigPart", it should be able to recreate your partition tables if you can flash recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2635282
METHOD 3:
You can also try this SBF file which is an SBF of the newest stock rom for the MZ602
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/download.php?device=24&file=710
IF NONE OF THIS WORKS
I have searched high and low and can't find a copy of the 1.35-everest.reflash.sbf, however i understand what you were thinking, i found many people talking about this file as a method for recovery. If non of my methods above work, maybe someone still has the everest sbf in question laying around.
Please help to restore old xoom
Please help restore old Xoom mz600. It stuck in moto logo.
Recovery doesn't work too, stuck in "Reading ODM fuse: 1".
After long investigation I get it is problem with bootloader.
Maybe somebody still have this magic file 1.35-everest.reflash !!!
1.35-everest.reflash.sbf
Finally I found these files, thank you KidJoe:

Why not share it in the public thread? lets be honest you won't be here to respond to stuff forever so you might as well drop a link in the thread for future collectors everywhere. And PLEASE use Android File Host, it seems to keep files forever and i don't see it going down anytime soon.

Shield Tablet LTE US to RoW Modem Files

I've written a blog post that describes how to flash the RoW factory images on the Shield Tablet US version.
http://jaredmorgs.github.io/2015/01...-US-Version-into-a-Rest-of-World-Version.html
Everything flashes OK, but the one thing that's missing is the Modem files.
It seems that the Modem files are not included in the factory images, and one suggestion was to wait for an OTA to land then you would get them. But that doesn't seem to be the case when installing the 5.0 (OTA 2.0) factory images.
Does anyone know how to get access to the required modem files to flash through ADB to the device? Would I need to pull them from the very first factory image set? Would I need to pull them from a random OTA between 4.4.2 and 5.0.1?
And if so, has someone already extracted the modem files to a side-loadable zip?
It would be great to be able to change the LTE bands.
So if anyone has any solution for this...?
The blog post has an answer from someone who confirms that both modem firmwares are loaded on the device, however a check by the upgrade scripts determines whether the US or RoW modems are flashed.
As yet, I'm unable to confirm how to force the tablet to load the RoW firmware.
there is a thread currently looking at this:

it's probably better to focus efforts there

How to root xoom 4.1.2

I just want to root my xoom 4.1.2. I am a newbie, and I have read many different guides, but I can not find a recovery for my model.
I was following a guide on the [HOW] Rookie Rooting, Flashing And UnRooting Under One Roof thread over at the xoom forums dot com.
and it says to download a recovery image that no longer exists! D. Download this recovery image(recovery-Tiamat-R4c-100611-1150-cwm.img) and place it in the "SDK_tools folder" at your PC C:drive: here
I can't find that file anywhere!! Is there another recovery image I can use in its place? Or do I have to follow a whole new set of instructions to root my xoom. Please help! I can't go buy another tablet right now, and apps and Google products have stopped working properly on my stock 4.1.2!
Thank you all in advance!

I have the same problem. I can not find this file. It seems as if the earth had swallowed it. If someone has it could you tell us where to find it?
Thank you
Here's a link to a copy of the recovery I happen to still have around. Just stumbled across this thread, since I came here in preparation for rolling my Xoom back to stock due to recent issues it's developed. It's hosted up on MediaFire, hopefully no one minds.
