Help with my New Desire S - HTC Desire S

Had it a few days now and I have a problem on incoming calls.
When I press answer it takes at least 3 seconds before I can hear the caller. Sometimes it doesn't work at all.
Its like a delay in activating the speaker/mic...
Tried rebooting and a custom rom (Coredroid) Still have same problems.....
Any help guys?

did you buy it from UK, carphonewarehouse? (or under e2save or mobile.co.uk)
i heard there are problems with those batches..

Yes, I did. Got from e2save. Guess I will have to try and get it back to stock and give them a ring.

It seems other devices with 2.3.3 are affected by this. So it cannot be a hardware problem its just a simple fault with gingerbread. So we just need to wait for an update
BTW, which deal did you buy your DS from? The _£25 a month for
12months?

New software update already?

See picture. Has anyone else done the update? I just turned on my stores demo device this morning and got this message.

Are you talking about the update to 2.21 or a different one, if the 2.21 then yeah everyone is getting it, just fixes some bugs
Yeah there is a quick update that users should get within a couple of hours of making their first call on TMO's network. This isn't a major update. Just some fixes and tweaks.
I was curious since I hadn't received the update on my personal pre-launch device yet. I am still on 1.13.531.1 software.

same here was hoping someone had pulled the update but i haven't seen it
no update here either. But i have only had the phone for an hour or two. Been using it next to my G2. Honestly.. I really like the mytouch hardware and the thiness. But.. damn.. the sense UI sucks. Stock android is much easier to use.

You probably wont see it with root. You have to go back to stock everything and then maybe...I rooted mine and haven't seen the update...over 48 hours, so I went back to stock with the leaked rom on the mytouch4G thread. (XDA)

[Q] any news on ics coming to U.S for T mobile?

Hello all, I was wondering if any of you knowledgeable people had any news of I.C.S coming to the US , via T Mobile? There is so much speculation on this, I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this subject? I contacted T Mobile representive and she did not know what I was talking about.....then she said oooh that will be months away! I hope she's wrong! Months away? Really, what is your understanding on this subject? I will appreciate any input or opinions, thank you

I was waiting for this: I think every carrier should have its own "When is ICS coming to my Sensation OTA?" thread.
That said, the information you got is typically non-informative. I remember struggling to explain what a software update was to one of the reps. Now, of course, I realize that they simply don't have an answer and, per posts to be found elsewhere (Search!) say "in a month or two" as a basic TMO CYA policy.

Thank you for the tip.
Honestly I'm glad T-Mobile decided to delay the update. For some reason HTC now thinks it's acceptable to turn on your WiFi and/or Mobile Network whenever they damn well please. Apparently it takes a carrier to change their mind.
Hopefully it's a quality update when released!
Yeah I hope so too

There's no way that's an official Tmobile statement. Did you see the terrible grammar and run-on sentences? That person has a junior high education at most. An actual press release would be much better formulated.
I'm guessing that "update" was copied and pasted directly from a thread here at XDA.

Do you normally leave them on? If so then you're immune. This is a well documented issue with every ROM using the latest bases from HTC. Just read a few pages of any ROM thread using the base. Turning off auto-sync mostly eliminates the issue but it's a serious pain.
Regardless of workarounds, I find it utterly unacceptable for my phone to turn on its own data connection without me telling it to. I'm sure T-Mobile feels the same way. Imagine the support calls and troubleshooting nightmares.

No WiFi problems for me on arhd ics. As for the update, I really think T-Mobile is going to release it after the one debuts. They don't want to cannibalize one sales.

Then you need to call HTC and find out who you need to talk to to find out if your serial number is still covered by the manufacturer's warranty. If not, it's probably something you should have done BEFORE you made the purchase. I could be wrong but it sounds like someone passed a hardware problem off on an unsuspecting buyer. BUT....it MAY still be covered and they didn't know either.
Isn't it worth a try?

This is their online "Warranty Statement". But it does conflict with the results some others have had doing a return. It COULD be that they returned it thru their carrier.

This is their website where you can directly e-mail the company with questions if you like.
