Droid Concepts Froyo Releases [BETA versions] - Motorola Droid Android Development

Ok, well with a new release of the rom, comes a new thread. However, I will not be making a new thread for each one. Instead I will be listing the release date, and a link for that release below. Soon I will post the the release guidelines that I've been trying to figure out, and I just about have the plans for the direction of Droid Concepts all figured out. So be on the lookout for that.

> Galaxy Widget now disappears after a reboot, if you choose not to use it

In order for themed markets to work you must load them over a stock market after install and a reboot. You have to establish the stock market working first... then boot into recovery and flash the themed market... flash rom, flash gapps, reboot..... then reboot into recovery and flash themed market... hope this helps..

Supported Kernels [Working]
==================================================
> Stock Kernel

Current DC kernels are based on V3 of CorCor67's kernel, the new DC kernel is still under some development and we don't want to rush that perfection, Buy you will love these!!
Install Order
==================================================
> ROM
> Google Apps
> Optional Apps/Kernel
> REBOOT! BEFORE CONTINUING TO FLASHING THEMED MARKET!
> Themed Market
Explanation if you care to read:
When you install the ROM it will wipe your /system and kernel from the phone so if you install Google Apps or the kernel first you will lose it when you install the ROM. So because of this the ROM must be first. Google Apps is listed as second because you need them if you regular release type of android build, without them you will not have the market to download and install apps, so because it is a 'must' it is listed as second. The kernel/Optional Apps is an addition, and therefore is listed last, so please follow this order when installing any Droid Concepts ROM.
Thank You..

If you would like to follow the progress of the Droid Concepts Settings App
then you follow it on GitHub at the link below. The reason I am
open sourcing this app so early is so that everyone can see that I am
building this from the ground up, and not simply using 'CMParts' and
re-doing it. You will be able to follow all the steps in the project so
there will be no question of whether or not it is 'CMParts' based.

Check out the Droid Concepts site please!

This is not CM based, for anyone wondering, This is AOSP based off of Froyo, You may wonder why This is not GB, well think about all the issues with GB on the Motorola Droid 1, there are quite a bit, I tired GB and it just doesn't run smooth. So with that I have chosen to keep the Droid at the Froyo Android branch. Motorola didn't skip updating the Droid for any reason other than this, it simply doesn't run GB like it should.. Think about it, they started the Droid at 2.0, updated it to 2.1, then 2.2, the Droid had more updates than most devices have, so I don't believe they did it simply to push people into getting a newer model. They did it because it just ran the best on the given device with the hardware.
So I'm asking you to give it a try, see what you think, This ROM has been out for a long time, and I have been doing Android ROMs for over well over a year. I am new to the XDA community, but this is defiantly a top quality ROM with a stellar support group!
If you have any questions please post them below, or PM me, message me on Twitter @DroidConcepts, or drop me an email at woodyman AT droidconcepts DOT COM

It would be sweet if someone could get the sense working on the droid. I don't know if it could happen but I had htc and I liked it
Sent from my Droid using XDA App

Used it and it seemed like a great rom but alas, it has its problems
- No lockscreen at all
- Home button vibrates but doesn't do anything
-Stock theme makes it very hard to see if 3g is on
- Theme picker thing couldn't find any downloaded themes

Not trying to seem rude with this but the first 2 issues you pointed out are false, the 3rd, is correct, and I will get the fix posted, the reason being that you can change the bar color via Droid Concepts Settings, the default is white, but the theme is still in progress, with the next release the theme will be that of stock Android 2.2, froyo, theme options haven't been posted here yet, but I will ask that they are, being that this ROM has gotten the most support at DroidForums, but I will see that it also gets posted here for you all to see without forum jumping.
The Theme picker app doesn't work for this ROM that is a feature in GingerBread and CM, something I have not implemented in the DC Froyo ROM. So the only way to change the theme is the built in options or by flashing a zip over the ROM, and I will get those links posted here, sorry for the confusion, and thank you for the feedback.

This would be very cool, I have to admit, I'm not a big fan of sense, but it and Moto Blur each have a few neat features..

You are in the completely wrong forum for Milestone. The Droid ROMs do NOT work on Milestone. Any ROM in the Milestone forum will work for Milestone, but not for Droid. Completely different software.

No way to port this, really. The Droid and Milestone have the same hardware, but the software is COMPLETELY different. The Droid has an unlocked bootloader, and the Milestone does not. Trying to flash a Droid ROM on the Milestone will soft brick your phone.

yes does not work on the milestone, sorry about that man, If I had one to test on then I may be able to support it, but being that I don't it's hard to support more devices, sorry.. I don't know anything about the Milestone or its hardware or software, so I can't be of more help..
But thanks for checking it out

[ROM][11-nov-10][v0.2] Milestone MIUI ROM (almost perfect now!)

This rom is now based on the latest release dated 11.05 originally made by MIUI team, i just handled the porting to milestone and added milestone features.
This is a froyo 2.2.1 rom based on top of original 2.2.1 GOT leak rom + changes to work with MIUI rom.
NOTE: a few Droid users keep asking if it works on a CDMA droid, answer is no!

Installation:

EXTRAS
this image has also many functions from my other mods, like shortcut keys on hw keyboard
-Keyboard shortcut functions (hold all 3 keys to activate)
- Spotlight on/off switch (LEFT SHIFT + A + DPAD CENTER)
- hw keyboard light switch (LEFT SHIFT + A + L)
- (not in 2.2kernel) : Enable apps2sd (LEFT SHIFT + A + U)
- (not in 2.2kernel) : diable apps2sd (LEFT SHIFT + A + T)
- start adb (LEFT SHIFT + A + X)
- copy all downloaded apps (LEFT SHIFT + A + P)
- overclocking
- like in MotoFrenzy, add "overclock" file to your sdcard root dir, and those settings
will be activated during boot.
Find a link to the file on my website, remember its name is "overclock", not overclock.txt.
default is activated with 550Mhz only.
STATE OF FUNCTIONALITY
ISSUES Reported by users
- Enabled Bluetooth or Mobiledata at bootup , will disable WIFI functionality, so keep Bluetooth and mobiledata disabled at reboot, if you want to enable wifi.from here it seems you can set state all you want after bootup.
- Some settings state, cannot be changed if Wifi is enabled during bootup :-( .
BASEBAND RADIOS for v0.1 ONLY, 0.2+ needs manual install
You can try if these works for you on Froyo 2.2, otherwise you need to copy the files from your original froyo rom that worked.
See http://dext3r.komodin.org/ for details on baseband radio in the FAQ
EVERYTHING WORKS EXCEPT:
- Wifi cannot enable, if Bluetooth/Mobiledata is enabled.
- Settings functionality somehow less good, if wifi enabled during bootup.
- EXT2 (apps2sd sdcard filesystem) - no kernel module available.
- See this thread for current MIUI issues
CHANGELOG
v0.2
- Used original MIUI framework now, no modding has been applied , except english language pack.
- HTC IME fix (no more FC's)
- Sdcard status fixed (supposed to be status of Apps2sd non-native function, which we dont have in our kernel)
- Wifi enabling ok, if the guideline is used mentioned in "ISSUES" section.v0.1
- Remember to download wifi update.zip and add with a openrecovery that support it.
- Initial release
- included overclock 1.441 app
- Included Motorola Camera + Google Cam (can be uninstalled, if you want to)
- all the rest from RoDrIgUeZsTyLe™ (MIUI 0.11.5) MIUIMOD [V1.7.2]
WARNING: Use this image at your own risk and i take no responsibility if
you brick your phone.. Image has been tested on a UK milestone and works fine if all files in ADB recovery image is used.

lockscreen is landscape.. menu is not :-(
- USB seems not implemented the way milestone works, so the Usb from froyo 2.2 is included to save battery, but seems to only "enable" usb, you still need to use the regular froyo way to activate usb storage to pc.
- Very strange but first time i notice, Wifi seems to disable if your battery is below 5-10% , nevery tried it before, but i replaced it with a fully loaded, and wifi worked instantly? maybe the same on all 2.2 kernel roms?
so i think the rom is stable..at least usable
so are you going to release a beta sometime soon (i mean between 2-4 hours)??
Thks ..keep us update it please i would use it as my diary rom

[ROM] (AOSP GINGERBREAD) ShadowMOD-BR v2.3.2b6 [2010-02-11]

This is a STRICTLY AOSP Gingerbread build for the Motorola Milestone.
Most of the credits goes to the amazing guys from CyanogenMod, nadlabak, f_pasha, mtwebster, rcerqueira, koush, MDijkstra, Skrilax_CZ, cvpcs and everyone else that had the patience to help me out figuring out how to put everything together.
To get it working for you, the baseband files for your region should be applied thru OpenRecovery as usual; you can get them at Dexter’s site: http://dext3r.komodin.org/.
Default language is set to PT-BR, change at the initial screen for your likings.
If you are currently using any Froyo release, you don’t need to do anything else, just copy the update to the OpenRecovery update folder and install as usual. If you’re not using any Froyo release, you need to apply a 2.2 SBF first.
Please note that FULL WIPE IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for new installations. If you're upgrading from any previous SMBR Gingerbread build, you only need to wipe caches.
CHANGELOG
Build 7:
- Updated to AOSP master branch, hundreds of bugfixes.
- Fixed some issues with wifi (props to nadlabak)
- Fixed color blending issues (mostly visible on scroll glow).
- Fixed some video recording issues, now uses h264/aac for high quality mode.
- Some changes on APN list for Brazilian carriers.
Build 6:
- More memory tuning. Now based on Google’s recommendation for low memory devices.
- Zipaligned all Google Apps
- Fixed light sensor (props to nadlabak)
- Disabled 3D drawer again (will provide as a separate patch)
- Added Nexus S wallpapers.
- Several other bugfixes that might result in crash of the phone.
Build 5:
- More memory tuning. This should fix a plethora of problems (browser downloads, market, notifications, and so on).
- Reverted to use a slightly older kernel (g4bc8ed0). Hopefully this will fix the reboots.
- 3D drawer is back due to popular demand.
- Enabled SIP over 3G networks.
- Removed some unnecessary libraries from the system (used only by Froyo).
- Fixed a couple of EGL issues. Nothing major.
Build 4:
- Skipped
Build 3:
- Fixed gps/compass (props to nadlabak)
- Fixed hires video recording (cvpcs)
- Massive memory tuning.
- JIT is disabled again -- yes, your linpack will suck, but you'll get much smoother experience overall.
- Disabled 3D drawer on Launcher2 -- too slow.
- Removed the OTA updater for now to save some memory.
Build 2:
- Fixed GMail/GReader breakage, now it works as expected.
- HSPA icon shows instead of just 3G.
- Screen off animation turned on.
- USB connected icon fixed.
- Some memory tuning done.
- Added full AOSP languages with dictionaries where available.
- Added full APN list based on CyanogenMod’s.
KNOWN BUGS
- Starting the camera using the hardware camera button unleashes hell.

This is awesome! Will post first impressions later.
So far so good; everything is super speedy, except the browser force closes.

How about the APAC nandroid? Or will it need to be a 2.2 sbf (latest one is the VIVO one right?)?
Bah downloading both anyway
APAC nandroid will do. Any working Froyo release works. We just need the VR and the basic 2.2 partitions.
wow.. good news , does radio/gsm work??
reveiw please....
omg!
everytime i finish setting up and install everything someone comes out with new irresistible release...
downloading right now
so? how is it?
this is a great thing to start the day with..
downloading .....
And so it begins..! Gingerbread on Milestone!!
Just a question though: Has the problem with the GSM Radio been solved? Because if we can't make calls, the ROM is only for those who use Milestone as their secondary phone.
Yes, the radio is working.

Congratulations to all those who are responsible for this, who made Gingerbread available for all Milestone users.
Great job guys, will be looking for Gingerbread Development from now on!
Edgar, just another question if you have the time explaining me the following:
Although I've read the first post about Basebands, because I've never done it before, I don't know how to do it..
What should I do through OpenRecovery to have a working phone in Europe (Greece)?
Thank you for your time.
Any reviews? Problems? I wanna know what are the bugs before I flash this.

Its exactly the same steps as to install the ROM, you just need to put the update zip at OpenRecovery update folder and apply it.
For Greece, the correct baseband is this one:

Great jobs guys to get GIngerbread to the stone!
Will follow the progress without any doubt and looking forward to see where this project is going to be in a while!
Damn, it's a great rom.. too bad gmail keeps reloading when opening a mail (or do you think reflashing will solve this?)
Nice work anyway

MiCode PatchRom for Defy(=MIUI with Blur)

On MiCode's github you can now download files for building a Moto-Miui-Rom based on "defy_2.3.4_cn" (red and green lense):
https://github.com/MiCode/PatchRom
This is very nice because we now have a MIUI-version with original and stable drivers(wifi, gps, etc) and nice Moto-things like DLNA and (who wants it) Blur.
I tested it and it's very nice. But it needs some optimisations like newer bootmenu, translation, etc.
I don't have time for that but maybe someone wants todo that.
Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?004z4l598opycsj
Don't use Flashlight, it's a Chinese Rom!
Boot.img and devtree are included in this update so make a backup or hold a full sbf to use older roms if you want to go back!
wow this is an amazing news!! I like motoblur and a miui with motoblur would be fantastic
i vote for this..i like blur too...i just dont like the fact that its a battery hogg due to the stock rom thats very unmanageable.
I added some screenshots.
wtf mkk11aa. you rock. This is the second best thing you have done for defy users.
If you haven't developed multiboot, lots of people wouldn't have tested or stayed on cm9. Thanks bro.
Thanks but this is not my work.
I just compiled what's already on MiCode's github.
Some questions:
1.) will there be miui like notification or like moto blur one.
2.) based on froyo or gb kernel?\
3.) i hope the base sbf used is not the chinese one (just thinking about my flash light)
4.) can I dual boot it with cm7?
5.) Greenbreadmod already applied?
Upload finished! Download in first post.
Maybe wants to mod this so we'll have a good rom
there is the possibility to use motoblur music app with lyrics on this rom?
Does the camera supports 720p video recording and panorama mode?
Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk
I think this rom supports everything which China Retail 2.3.4 rom supports.
I don't know more details.
1.) will there be miui like notification or like moto blur one.
> I don't know what you mean
2.) based on froyo or gb kernel?\
> I think GB because it's based on 2.3.4(but it works with green lense). How can I test this?
3.) i hope the base sbf used is not the chinese one (just thinking about my flash light)
> It's the chinese one. I tried to patch 2.3.6 But it does not work.
4.) can I dual boot it with cm7?
> Only if you are using a rom with same devtree/boot
5.) Greenbreadmod already applied?
> It works with green lense. But I don't know if it's from moto or with greenbreadmod. Also please note that I uploaded only the green-lense-version.
That's the base(green): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239863
I would try to patch multilanguage-2.3.4-SBF but all multiupload-links are down.
added some warnings to the first post.
Can someone upload this rom please("Nandroid multilanguage walter79 edition")?
I always Feared to use chinese roms coz many ppl complained that it could be deadly for lashlight , but i think i will try this rom without using the cam apps
Awesome combination.
Would be even better if there's a Sense MIUI comb..so I can dualboot them

hey bugger!
is there a possibility to use a different sbf base? (i've read the chinese ones are a little freaky when it comes to the hardware on the defy's)
but any way awesome job, cant wait to see the update on this!
thanks!
The problem is that they made many changes in the Motorola-Framework.
I don't have the time to diff and port all that to a better rom.
Can you make howto for pachrom?
Thanks

1) Detailed description of the bug/issue (verbosity is awesome!)
2) Prop files (saved in /sdcard/AlterROM/setup) or AROMA Log ('Save Log' option at end of Installation Process)
3) Other mods made that alter the default setup (such as any third-party scripts or init.d/build.prop tweaks)

If you wish to contribute further and help me keep my equipment going, you can donate here.
Downloads, Installation Instructions & More
Installation Instructions
1) Backup Apps/Settings & Do a Nandroid backup
2) If coming from another ROM (even the original AlterROM), Wipe all through recovery
3) Flash update zip & follow on-screen instructions
4) Reboot
5) Give the ROM a few minutes to settle on first boot. Depending on how many optional apps you've installed it can take some time for the everything to startup and the performance to normalize. Be patient.

AlterScript
*Included in AlterROM Redux as of v1.0.1
AlterScript is a script created to maintain AlterROM. It is still a W.I.P. and some features (such as Odex) are experimental. Always make sure you have a good NANDroid backup before doing any system wide changes. Use at your own risk. YMMV.
For best results, it's recommended to run AlterScript through ADB, rather than directly on the device. Not sure why, but the Odex option will occasionally freeze the phone. Nothing is damaged, but it requires a battery pull (or adb reboot) to recover.
Location on AlterROM: /sdcard/AlterROM/scripts/
Download Latest Version: Current in AlterROM Redux v1.0.1*
Options:
Odex AlterROM (Experimental)
If you odex AlterROM, you'll need to immediately reboot to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik-cache. Script will reboot device upon completion. Also, you will need to reodex after every version or mod flash and possibly clean install some version.
Re-optimize Performance
This will re-optimize performance settings to AlterROM defaults. Nothing more, nothing less.
Cleanup AlterROM

Attached some to the OP. Note that the background is not the default, as I have not figured out how to set that in GO Launcher EX by cooking, and the Lockscreen shown is the default GO Locker, which is not installed in my initial release. ROM comes with the standard Android lockscreen.
I wanted this rom to be as stripped and customizable as possible from flash.
Thanks, downloading now

holy crap. i just made the same rom but used tommytomatoe's optimized 4.67 ruu based rom and launcher pro. senseless is the way to go. i was thinking about posting it for the public but now i dont think its even worth it.
Nicely done, Did you remove every possible sense related item (Without breaking the ROM of course)? I been wanting one like that which can give the most possible AOSP like experience. Going to give this a try.

Thanks. TBH, I played around with other launchers (LauncherPro & ADW.Launcher), but I liked GO Launcher EX the best. This is actually my first time using it at all.
I like Sense, but I can't theme to save my life, yet... wanted a little more than stock and to give more freedom to the users.

IMO, you could still release your ROM. Tommytomatoe's base is a LOT more optimized than mine is right now. I thought about using it myself, but decided it would be more beneficial for me to learn what was done.

Yes, as far as I can tell. I left in the Music, Calculator, Sound Recorder and Weather apps (maybe a couple others that are Sense themed), because they looked better with the ROM than some of the market alternatives that I found.
I have plans to try to theme everything I can to fit more with the default look of GO Launcher EX, but I'm still very new to theming.
Looks good. Always happy to try something new

I only noticed one issue so far with the Kernel I think... The wifi drops completely and then reconnects. Not sure why. I've tried other ROM's using this base and that didn't happen. Gonna flash LionFish kernel to see if it still happens.
This has a fairly new look (or at least a new combination of some familiar elements). Thanks grayn0de!

No problem, I also flashed the anthrax kernel but the issues seems to keep happening. It might not be a kernel issue but something else within? I'm no dev so haha, I'm sorry. =) Maybe I can try getting a log but I wouldn't be so sure what to look for.
EDIT: I added a two different logs during the moment the WIFI disconnects. Hope that helps.
