I just Search and installed today officail Skype for Galaxy tab which supports videocall.
Seems like back camera function is disabled.
Finally we have a decent video call app. This one worked fine as any other one has worked before. Great app.

Any news for skype on galaxy tab?
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
did you check the market?
It works great for me.
It works, its just the video chat option is available on android yet.
As far as I know skype doesn't support video chat on any platform other than the PC version...
Doesn't even connect on my end.
Nexus one connects with no problems, but galaxy tab won't
in the app store is a program oovoo that allows you to video calls. It also allows the connection between the ooVoo and Skype. on the galaxy tab works and looks very well. how you want to try the call to me. my ooVoo id "zandrzejz. sorry for bad english
just noticed it as well gonna try it now, hopefully this finnally will be the solution to do video chat with mac and a pc

yes, i was wondering. negative market comments of no support for galaxy tab (e.g. also not for front facing camera) and no mention of skype connectivity in market description... i wonder whether the OP every actually tried the app
It's a start
Tried this thinking it was an answer. It is half an answer.
1. It allows and easy switch between front and back camera.
2. It sees the incoming video.
3. It DOES NOT transmit video.
The ClearSeas app WORKS VERY WELL so it can be done - just need to figure out how to make it work.
Also, Yahoo messenger works very well INBOUND on the Galaxy but NOT on outgoing.
We are almost there. Come on Skype
I know it's not available for honeycomb yet, but has anybody tried running it on the transformer?
So far, I have tried google video, fring, and tango and they all had some crappy picture/latency issues. They were also runing on the same wifi between transformer and iphone so I doubt it's a connection issue.
I still have not found a video app that works fluidly like FaceTime or Skype. Too bad skype has not released video chat for android yet. It has been now almost 6 months since it was first launched on iPhone.
So if you know of a video app that works, please share. I'm hoping qik isn't as bad.
Thanks in advance!
I Used Google Chat between My tablet and my Girlfriends Laptop and it worked fine.
Hi,
I am using a patched Skype v2.0.0.47 on the Overcome Jupiter rom (which is so great btw.).
Everything seem to work fine but the video doesn't take the full screen but only about 75%.
Is it a normal behavior? Is the a way to stretch it to a full screen?
Thanks
I was wondering the same thing after installing the patched version today morning..
Did you find a fix for it?
For now I will just continue to use Google talk
Sebkinne
Nope,no luck so far...
Try spare parts. Its working fine here
I tried, doesn't help. The skype's interface looks fine. It just the video part ...
I think that this is because of resolution of video. There is to much pixels on Galyxy TAB. And there is no suport for HD video chat on Andoid devices.
May I ask where you got the .47 version of Skype w/video? The one I installed on my Sprint SGT doesn't seem to work properly. It says I'm connected, but all of my online contacts see me as offline.

It's 1024x600 - hardly HD.
And yes, there is support, Tango works fine in fullscreen, haven't tried Skype on the tab, but it works just fine on my SGS2 fullscreen (800x480).
I tried to make a call yesterday on Skype, but the video quality that my friend was receiving was terrible.
Is there any adjustment that can be done to make it better quality?

Same on my gf's Tab 10.1, the video call is terrible and looks like it is being shot on a 10 year old mobile phone. Apparently this problem began with the latest update in April, before that video was great. Why it has not been addressed yet I do not know but I have found several people on forums talking about it.
Video Skype on my Galaxy S2 phone is still as great as can be so it would appear that this affects Tab users only.
Unfortunately, you and my gf will have to wait for the next Skype update and hope this is address.
Oh, I see.
That problem is from the skype itself and not the camera from the tab then?
I'll give a try on my S3 and see how it goes!
Thanks for the reply!

Hi,
Sorry for the late reply, this problem is on my gf's Tab so I've not spent much time trying to sort it out!!
Yes, the camera on the Galaxy Tab is much better than the video quality that Skype now uses. If you look at the stats on a video call when using High Quality video setting then it says the res is 240x320. If you then change the setting to Low Quality and check it then it is the same; 240x320, so it looks like they either took out the high quality option or it is glitched.
Seeing as there hasn't been an update for a while, what I've done is rolled back the Skype version to 2.6.0.95 and it has High quality video again. When I selected the Low Quality option it is the same quality used for both options in the current Skype version.
Not an ideal fix but it will work until Skype address it themselves, however there are several huge faults with Skype on Android that have not been acknowledged and fixed by them in over a year (such as video calls not working from Android to any Mac).
Sorry I cannot post a link to the Skype version, google it and you will find it on some forums. Uninstall your current version of Skype. Copy this version to your Tab memory card. Download Astro File Manager from Google Play store and install the .apk file with that.
You may now hit that Thank You button!
