I know this is a long shot but is there a way to have multiple browser windows open at once? Like Windows 7 when you pull it to each side. It would be dope to have it snap to the top and bottom so you could view two pages at the same time. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

So as you all know, we have the center, left, right portions of our desktops. Is it possible to add additional space? I am sure this would require serious editing of the source code or whatever. Has anyone explored this idea?
I don't need anymore space, as I keep the apps that I use most of the time on the screen but the ones that I don't I just use the pull up menu.
left screen: work related stuff 4 things
center screen: standard phone stuff 7 things
right screen: fun and games 3 things

i dont really need more space either, but my thought was that once the widgets idea is expanded upon, we will need as much space as we can get. nevertheless, i think some people could make do with more space.
If the right people hear this idea.....we might get something
unfortunately....i am not one of those people...
yea I always thoguht 5 screens would be hot...an up and a down from the center home screen.
More Space would be cool, I like thee ability to make Folders and put them on the desktop, or even just create folders in the the applications scroll up, So II can seperate games from Utilities, and etc..

It is possible to create folders on the desktop... Just long press on the screen, choose shortcut and then folder...
Okay so we never accomplished an answer if the desktop can be extended? I know it can't be as simple as going in to change some numbers around, but is it possible for this to get done?
I'd prefer a winmo like 'cube'. Either the 4 sided style where you only have left/right and can spin a full 360, or the 6 sided dice style where you can spin a 360 in all directions(this could be a pain tho).
...But alas, I'm am also merely a dreamer with no dev skills wse :/
Yeah that would be pretty cool, but still have to figure out if its possible lol
i use folders to organize my apps works really well, what i would like is ability to put folders in folders, and to put folders in the application,
i think if we have more horizontal panels it would look more like the iphone, i like the top and bottom like the touch cube from WM
i'd just like to see a way to make the icons smaller so we can fit more on the screen. i think 4 on a row would be a good amount tbh.
probably wouldn't be that difficult to do either, once we get the xml files sorted out.

We already have 4 on a row, though?

Can I rename that folder? Like games, and another Apps.
Shaggy
P.S. Nevermind, open folder, long presson folder name lets you rename. This is awesome, exactly what I was looking for, makes 6 icons on my desktop into 1.
In Windows Mango, is it possible to turn off the People tile animation that keeps flashing up different pictures of contacts? (I'm referring to the tile when it's pinned to the desktop/start screen.)
Nope.
10chars
Well that's disappointing. If something is going to be annoying and distracting, it would be nice if it at least served a purpose.

For the 5 seconds you have your main screen open and scroll around to select an option, how is that annoying ?
Just remove the People tile, or hide it way at the bottom... live tiles is the whole idea behind WP7.
I love seeing the pictures, the only thing I find annoying is when my Windows Live contacts don't have pictures and WP7 just displays a blank picture where somebodies picture could possibly be.
Just add a custom made picture to the contact (old foto of the person). That's what I did and now I always see a picture of them.
Or ask them to update their live of Facebook picture.

To those without a picture, I added a WP7 logo (but most have some sort of a pic)
I use my phone a lot and just find it distracting. It also just seems like soemthing that could easily and should have the option of just being a statictile. ... One of a number of small things that I think are "no braibers" that are lacking in Mango. ... Not saying it's a terrible OS ... Jus that I hope the next version is MUCH better.

Having an option to turn that off would take the "live" from "live tile"
Everything moves in WP7...
Not everything. There are plenty of tiles that don't blink at you. Being able to move your tiles around is great. And if you want it to blink like a Christmas tree, that's fine too. I'd just like to be able to disable that function. Something like being able to have a wallpaper, no wallpaper, or a constantly changing wallpaper in Windows 7 on a PC.
If nothing else, it ought to be an optin as a courtesy to the small portion of the population for whom blinking colored lights can pose a risk of causing seizures. (And the equally small portion who may otherwise like most things about the OS, but just not that.) Fom a coding perspective, making blinky tiles optional should not be hard at all.

I don't know if anyone else is having this problem, it is to do with the XDA Developers' site.
When I used to click on a picture in a posting, the site would show a medium grey layer on top of the site and this would show an enlarged picture with a X button at the top-right corner. If you clicked on this button, then the layer would dissapear and everything was back to normal.
Now when I click on a picture in a post the site has a medium grey layer sitting on top of the viewable (but unclickable) site. I don't see any picture and there is no X button. The only thing to do is to hit the Back button.
I can view the picture if I right-click on the picture and select to open it in a new tab.
I am using IE8 in WinXP. There is no pop-up block on this site.
Same thing happens here, if it is any coincidence, I am also on XP (Sp3) and IE8.
I reckon it has only been doing it for a couple of weeks or so, any XDA System Mods want to fess up to fiddling with the vBulletin settings, or cascading style sheets?
I'll attach a window dump of one of my own image posts. I had clicked on the leftmost image, but in practice it wouldn't matter a damn which. Also, it doesn't matter what the style chooser is set to, 2010 or Classic, the results are the same.
I just tested to see what happened in Firefox. When I clicked on the above post's attached picture, it opened a new page with just the picture in it. I had to hit the Back button to get back to the postings.
This problem only happened a few weeks ago.
When I click an attachment, a grey semi-transparent layer shows up and then I'm redirected to the image's address in the same page.
I don't get any redirection (in both IE and Firefox). My only option is to go Back. When I do this, the Foward button isn't available.
Same for me. Also, if there is more than one attached picture you used to be able to click on one to get the larger image, and then you could cycle through them all from there. Currently you have to open one, back, open the next...etc.
I'm looking for some sort of notifier for my desktop computer. I tend to keep my phone in my belt pouch at work, and I'd like to be able to see my notifications displayed on my desktop without having to take my phone out of the pouch constantly. I already use DeskSMS to text message from my desktop computer.
If there were an application that has a Windows 7 gadget, that would be even more awesome.
I found this: http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2011/01/...how-it-could-be-that-little-bit-more-awesome/
I need something like that, but it needs to be for Windows.
Does such a thing exist?
Android-Notifier
Download the computer software:
http://code.google.com/p/android-notifier/
Install the Android app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.damazio.notifier
I'm testing this out now. I was looking for a thread about it on XDA and found your post. The notifications that come up in windows are the standard little bubbles you see by the task bar icons. The only trouble I am having is that (with the bad multitasking of the EVO 4G LTE) the app closes and to fix this I have to keep the icon in the notification bar on my phone. Sucks having to keep an icon up there that I don't want. This issue may not be the case on a phone with no multitasking issues. Thanks HTC -_-
I'm sure most people wouldn't want this but can this be done? If so, can you direct me with a link?
I don't have a nav bar, use LMT. And I'd prefer the look of it on the bottom, similar to Windows. It also would be easy to swipe up with my thumb right there instead of reaching to the top.
I agree. WebOS did this years ago which made viewing, dismissing, and accessing them a breeze. Everything could be done with just your thumb. Today with phones exceeding 5 inches, I regularly drop my phone trying to dismiss something.
I'd love to see this as an option.
I've seen the "tablet" mode option for CM, but that's not available in new versions of android.
