He guys,
Like the title says, i got annoying system pics and music files showing up in my music gallery and normal gallery.. the weather vids show up and i just downloaded a game called SilpheedAlternative it downloaded some sd cache files to the root of the sd and now all the files of that show up in my music gallery... does anyone know how to fix this ? can i put like excepmt of those folders or just like read only?

I've been using doubletwist now for a while for a music player, however, I haven't been able to find a way for it to point to a specific folder to play. It seems that it will play any type of audio file on my SD card and it's kinda funny yet annoying to hear Let's Golf soundtracks and files playing. Anyone know how to adjust this if possible or an app that will? Same thing happened with cubed.
Make a file called .nomedia (period included) and place it in the folders that you don't want to show up.

Any player. And it works for keeping pictures from showing up in the gallery as well.

Great tip. It's annoying for both pictures and audio.
There is a known bug with the .nomedia trick . If a .nomedia file is placed in a folder with existing content files in that folder will be deleted by the system the next time a media scan occurs. Try it on a test folder before you use it on a folder that has files you need (like the sound files for the GPS).

That's weird. I've NEVER had that problem.
My xoom is not working nomedia.
I installed the osu, the music game,
that game has many images and music.
so i copy and paste the nomedia that folder, but it can't work it.
so those files are still scanning the music app, and gallery app.
How can i solved it???

I would like to help you but I can't understand what you are saying.
What is "nomedia?"
What is osu-the music game? Can you be a little more clear?

.nomedia is a file that works disable the media scanning in android.
If the '.nomedia' is in folder, that folder disable the media scanning.

osu need to many pictures and mp3 because of running games
So, If the '.nomedia' is not in Osu folder, their all files(musics, pictures) are scanning,
and therefore i can see their music in music app, and can see their picture in gallery.
If i put the .nomedia to Osu in android 2.2, 2.3, that files didn't scanning.
but, xoom it's not.
I used tiamat 2.1 hammerhead.
I'm having the same problem, rooted on stock Rom. Pictures still show up in Gallery although the .nomedia file has been used.
Is there a fix for this?
You should just be able to open your gallery, highlight the folder that they are in and click Delete. It will not delete the files. Just their entry into the gallery. Shouldnt show up again unless you do another media scan. Not sure what happens then. I usually just delete the folder after removing it from the gallery first. Never tried scanning again to see if they come back

I copied a bunch of drawings, learning sheets to my sd card however, when I goto gallery is there an option where I can just view that folder and not show everything as it does already like mu mp3 album art to videos. Its really annoying gripe but is there an alternative if not?.
Yep, if you don't want the files in a folder to show up in gallery you just create a file and name it .nomedia inside that folder... This means that the gallery will ignore anything in this folder, whether it's images, mp3's or movie files...
i can see music files and images of gallery in file manager but not in google play or gallery. i saw people having similar issues here only & tried couple of things which people wrote to them. its not working at all. i downloaded another music players after uninstalling google play i scanned for files.. it showed 0 file detected..when i connect the phone to my laptop and copy pastes the files in music lib and other players again it doesnt work. help please

Workaround/Solution:
1. Delete instances of .nomedia files in the root of your sd card
2. Go to Music folder-----Create another folder in the Music Folder----Move ur songs into this folder . Now the files would appear in the multimedia player and play just fine.
3. Similarly create another folder under DCIM/Camera and move ur pics into the new folder. They will now appear in the gallery app.
hi all,
i installed an app named folder lock advanced from google play store to secure my media files. after installing it i added my media files in it after which it got encrypted and i was able to access my files only through that app...it was all good.
but the issue i have is that...when i first installed it and started adding my videos it added only few of them and left the rest...so i uninstalled it at once and reinstalled it again.
when i uninstalled it the video files which added at first got encrypted while the others weren't.
i reinstalled the app again and added media files again and this time the remaining videos only got added to it...the encrypted videos were left out...
i looked in some forums on how to run encrypted video files and renamed the file with .mp4 extension/ .3gpp extension and tried to run the file...but my video player says " cant run the file".
since i got pissed off real bad because of this chaos...i uninstalled the app again...now all my video files are encrypted because of it...i cant run the video file even if i rename it with an extension of mp4/3gpp.
In my SD card i got a folder named Folder Lock Advanced in which there are two sub folders. one folder has thumbnails of all the videos while the other had the videos in encrypted format.
please help me to fix this issue.
