Major Problem- installation aborting!! - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Hey all. I have a galaxy S 4G and I already rooted it. Am currently trying to install the Bionix Frost ROM. Also some lock screens. The problem is every time I try to reboot to recovery it says installation aborted. I don't know what to do. Can someone please help me. Thank you.

Are you trying to use the stock recovery or cwm recovery

You need to use krylons final cwm. Also, to make your life easier, push the tweaks into the zip file prior to flashing. Init.d. Kg6 fugu. Updated builds prop...or just flash icbinb.

How do you push tweaks into a zip file prior to flashing?

are you trying to install lock screens from the vibrant if so it wont work
as the vibrant uses amand scripting and sgs4g uses edify
hince why your getting installation aborted

the bionix frost rom zip file. open up the cwm flashable for the tweaks and you will notice they are in a specific folder structure. the rom has the same folder structure. move the file from the cwm flashable to the rom zip file following the same folder structure and replace the file in the rom zip file. for example, if the cwm flashable has folders system/app, then move the file to the system/app folder in the rom.

that works to but i was wondering what he was trying to replace lol
so he doesnt soft brick

o i was just going to say build.prop, fugu from kg6, bootanimations and sounds, perhaps the launchers, he can build in his apps via the data folders all prior to flashing, the icbinb init.d/ext4 optimizations and so forth. nothing too crazy.

Can't use themes on SR sense 3.5

okay...I'm using skyraider sense 3.5, but for some reason when I try to use rommanager to install themes for it, it goes to the recovery, tries to flash it, but says "operation unsuccessful." I believe it is due to me accidentally updating my clockworkmod. I have tried downgrading back to cwm 2.5.0.5, but when I flash that, it says operation unsuccessful also...i can flash fonts fine. I have no idea what is wrong. Does anyone have any idea how I could flash a theme for it Other than completely clearing everything and reinstalling sr sense 3.5?
Thanks in advance

Use amonRA. I think its compatible with amend script. Or u can downgrade clockwork with a pb31img.zip...you can also try update your zip to edify script using amend2edify script converter. I've had mixed results though. Its pretty easy to just recompile the zip in edify
I've never recompiled any script before. I wouldn't know what to do. And amonra - is there a certain version i could use? Or should any work?
I'm going to try amonra tomorrow night after work i suppose. Lol. I just want to try and be able to flash a theme lol. I tried the PB31IMG.zip with no luck. It does the same thing :-/ i tried renaming it, caps, no caps, changing it to update.zip, having it in the root of my sdcard, in my download
Folder... No luck :-(

Don't forget you flash the pb31img thru hboot. All letters capitalized. Compiling is easy. Just get a program that generates a zip with update binary in it. You can probably just take a zip you know works and delete everything but the com folder inside Meta. Than drop the files you need inside the zip. I think any amonra should work for you. Alexander uploaded cw 2.5 zip on SR forum.

UOT Kitchen

Hi if you extracted the framework-res.apk can you use the OUT Kitchen to modify the file and use root explorer to replace the apk?

Not sure. but the ROM has to be de-odexed first I believe.
UOT says it will work on odexed roms
didn't know if the stock rom was odexed

stock / official ROMs are always odex'ed. If thats the case, try the UOT at your own risk. Framework-res breaking will cause boot loops.
Anybody brave enough to try this?
I tried uploading framework-res.apk to UOT and just did the Circle Battery mod, then downloaded the .zip and renamed it to "update.zip" and flashed in stock recovery, but no go... I think once we get CWM recovery working, this might start working...
FYI, framework-res.apk and twframework-res.apk aren't odexed. On any Samsung ROM I've poked around in.
I tried it last night and installed with cwm and it bootloooped had to restore from backup would be cool if it did though i will tinkier more with it and see
I flashed Refuse (check out the other threads about this rom) via Odin, then extracted the framework-res.apk and uploaded it to UOT and created a zip with the battery mod I wanted. Then I installed Rom Manager from the market, moved it to phone (by default it installed to SD), flashed the Captivate recovery, then booted into recovery, selected reinstall packages (which got me to CWM recovery), then selected install zip from SD card, then selected the zip, and it worked.
this is the same method i used and it worked for the fonts and battery mods and i changed some color schemes also now have a white status bar
why wont it let me download my framework and systemUI?

It works. I've done it personally (on stock Froyo). Just do it as anyone else would do it (follow the directions given).

Using a file manager/explorer, copy the file and paste it to your sdcard.

Oh. Didn't know you were to that point since you said download. When I was getting that error, it was because of the particular internet connection I was on. Haha, I was going to suggest you visit the thread for support, but I see you've already posted there. Well, good luck.

UOT kitchen help

I have tried this many times and have no trouble making the files but in recovery it wont install. Error status 0, every time. Any help would be appreciated.

I've had the same issue..I think it all depends on the ROM you are using..some ROMS might be incompatible..I even tried the work around instructions on their site..still no luck.
Does anyone know which g2x rom works well with uot kitchen. I'm having bad luck so far. Maybe I should revert my recovery back to a 3.0.0.0 base.

I have used UOT in majority of the roms available for g2x with no issues. Did you upload the original apks from the rom you wanted to replace?
Sent from my Calculator with Android.
Normally this is caused by a bad update-binary file in the cwm zip. Easy enough to fix. Just go into any rom that you have, (hopefully you kept the original zip file.) And navigate to the following directory (inside the oringal install .zip file that is):
/META-INF/com/google/android.
Under there you'll see 2 files, update-binary, and updater-script. Take the update-binary and replace it in the same place in the zip file that UOT created for you. 9 times out of 10 that'll fix your problem. (There are other things that can cause that error, but that seems to happen alot.)
Yes I have been using the two files needed from the rom that I want to theme. And the kitchen makes the files with no errors. I have even taken the update binary to try and fix it but it does not install. Do I have to repack the file after inserting the update binary file? And how exactly would I do that because in order to replace the files I had to unzip the rom and kitchen file.

Framework files created by kitchen

If you upload the framework and twframework files to the kitchen to create a new battery icon, for example, are those newly created apk files going to work with that same ROM if you reinstall that same ROM after using another ROM?
Just wondering if you have to get a new zip file from the kitchen each time you go back and install a ROM you may have had before the current ROM you may be running.

Ahh, the anwser to the first question would be Yes.
The answer to the second non-question would be No.
Simpler: Install "ABC Rom" flash changes made from "ABC Rom" framework files.
Thanks, TG.
Tired of trying out a new ROM, going back to the other ROM and re-creating the ZIP file all over again.

Here's an easier way to go back: Before flashing a different Rom, while in Red Recovery, make a backup.
That way all you have to do is run Restore from recovery. It will automatically name the backup by the date.
I then use root explorer and rename it to the rom that you were using.
Then when I have the time, I'll copy the backups to my external SD card and to my computer.
There you go. No more reinstalls. Just remember to back up your contacts or you'll wind up with the list from when you backed up last.

[MOD][4.1.1 JRO03D] Deodexed Apps and Framework

Deodexed and zipaligned system/framework and system/apps from a JRO03D pull
Since I needed it for another project and it's still not posted, below are some links:
Non-flashable zip of the apks/jars:
http://www.mediafire.com/?npphsab2p1gu16z
CWM-flashable zip of the apks/jars:
note: note: note: note: note: the zip will recursively delete /system/app and /system/framework, so if you put other files in there do not use this zip
http://www.mediafire.com/?zcy0pa6k7y53a85
(tested in CWM 6.0.0.6 - should work in TWRP and CWM 6.0.0.4, I would appreciate if someone can confirm)

If something goes wrong, here is a flashable zip to return the odexed versions back:

isn't it possible to run a init script that would do this? This won't deodex or zip align any other apps that have been installed right? and should i do a full wipe before attempting this?
I'm not aware of any init scripts for deodexing
the flashable zip removes *all* files from system/app and system/framework (including any manually moved there) and flashes deodexed apps from stock 4.1.1 JRO0D. It doesnt touch any of your files in /data and doesnt need wipe. If you have other files in /system then adb remove/add the files manually using non flash version

it is not, this is just the stock system/app and system/framework, if there's a lot of interest i can merge them
i could add it in, but chainfire has a flashable zip at his site too
I just flashed this in CWM and I'm getting past my roms bootscreen but after that its just a black screen and the backlight is still on. I'm going to see if I can get back into CWM and do a restore of a nandroid.
I had just installed this rom (Glazed) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1796668
